Gatekeeping just sucks

If you like historical styles you should also research the historical styles of other cultures, not just Euro-American. Seriously

Most current museum workers are not racist/classist and are actively working to fix the structural problems inherent in museum work. The British Museum system and Smithsonians just give a lot of bad names to the practice.

If you want a more diverse workforce in Academia, raise your beginning wages and lower the risk of starting out in academia. Otherwise, only rich white kids will feel comfortable starting out in these jobs.

STEM still needs more representation.

I love the earth and want her to get better, but the Eco Friendly movement is extremely toxic in many ways. (And doesn't do much to help)

People who partake in media in any form need to understand that its ok to say "I'd viscerally hate this character if they were real, however as a character they are a good character." This is especially true with the recent villain hate I've been seeing.

It's ok to dislike the main character.

It's ok to have unpopular ships, but its also ok to have popular ships. We shouldn't fight.

If you're saying "Oh I wish we still wore capes/ballgowns/pirate clothes/ et.c." WEAR. THEM. wear them! Nobody's going to judge you and it's not going to be a "trend" unless someone starts wearing them.

If I hear someone make the "my gender is attack helicopter joke" one more time I will seriously consider committing murder.

Ask someone what they prefer to be called, and make an effort to call them that. If you can't get it in a month, ask if you can call them a nickname, but it's rude to say that you won't try right off the bat.

People do notice when you avoid saying their names

It costs too many spoons to set up holiday decorations. If you can consistently set up and take down holiday decorations every year, you are probably rich and abled. Be thankful

The Game of Life is super representative of the 80s and the ideal of the McMansion.

Plastic single use straws are valid

It is ok to enjoy content even if the author or producer sucks (i.e. Twilight, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones)

We need to get out of this Grim Dark trend in TV Shows and movies. I'm sick of this narrative full of angst and gore. Further, just because you have a show where the content is dark, doesn't mean the set should be dark. I want to see what's happening without burning my eyes with a high screen brightness.

We need to reblog from artists as well as like and comment, otherwise people won't be able to enjoy their work. You'll happily reblog 20 memes, or professional photography of celebrities. Why aren't you reblogging you local artists/poets/musicians

It is not ok to demand content of content creators. You shouldn't go on a day old video and say "where's part two?" You also shouldn't backseat game them or try to control their relationships

If you like wearing makeup, you are valid and beautiful

We give a little too much slack to some youtubers/twitch streamers.

Cancel culture is very annoying and does more harm than good.

"Peaceful" video games are just as good as "violent" video games and require the same amount of skill.

It's really difficult to maintain plants, especially if you are working or have a family to take care of. It's ok to get plastic plants (as long as you intend on keeping them for a long time)

Spaces don't need to be super clean, but they shouldn't be increasingly dirty either.

Minimalism is inherently classist and racist

Cottagecore tends to be racist, but is cute and can be enjoyed by POC

Legally Blonde 2 really pulls the "I can excuse racism but the line stops at animal cruelty" card. It also copies a lot of the same beats from the original movie. Its not necessarily bad but it could have been a lot better.

Musicals/plays are more diverse than movies but are not without their problems since they cater to a wealthy audience

Movies and TV shows showed more positive diversity in the late 90s and early 2000s than they do today.

Minorities can and do oppress each other. This needs to stop, it only benefits majorities.

Essential oils aren't good, but they aren't bad either

It's ok to like "witchy" things

The White Grey Black color scheme is on its way out in interior design. It makes spaces look cold and empty.

Movies and tv shows from... a while ago, Think black and white and early color tv... tend to be very racist sexist and old fashioned, but that doesn't discount their literary merit. You just need to scrutinize it a little more than you would a show from today. Actually, shows from today also need to be heavily scrutinized but in a different way

There can be "good" cops, but the system as a whole needs to go away. There aren't enough crimes to justify the need of a police force, and they tend to just be legal muggers ( to increase their own funding via use of tickets/bail ). That being said, there is a need for some kind of city protective system, just an extremely reformed one. (Break-ins and other serious crimes still happen, just not at the rate they used to.)

Legalised drugs are good, however there are some drugs that should be taken in a monitored environment since they are/can be dangerous. There should also be increased health psas against certain drugs such as smoking cigarettes and vape. Sure, it might decrease your stress and anxiety temporarily, but increased reliance on it will heavily damage your health and the money you've spent on these drugs should be going to a therapist.

Nothing internationally popular from the BBC is worth watching seriously and it seems that most people who watch them end up hating them. (Think: Sherlock, New Doctor Who) Just admit you like the hot quirky men and go on with your day.

British Bakeoff is good but has grown increasingly Racist. Also the judging is very heavily biased and has almost no system of rules to what is good or bad. Everything is made for the drama but not for the quality.

Hamilton is not Lin Manuel Miranda's best work. It is also not the most progressive. I am impressed that he recognized younger kids and POC had an interest in the show and adjusted ticket prices to make it more accessible though.

If someone does not like a piece of media that includes a diverse cast, and they do not say why they don't like it, they are not inherently racist.

If a person says "I watched the first season and stopped because I didn't like it, and then found out that the creator is a piece of shit, and am more comfortable with my decision" then it is not ok to say "well in season 8 it disproves the shittiness that made you feel uncomfortable."

The Mandalorian is overrated, but baby yoda is cute.

Disney as a company sucks, but often has decent movies and content. Their content unfortunately is very tropey and tends to be poorly written, but I would love to see more original content from them in the future

Many people don't have their own opinions, but rather gather the opinions of their families, friends, and the media around them. That doesn't make their opinion invalid. It also doesn't prevent them from being uninformed.

Smart TVs/refrigerators/devices are dangerous at worst and overrated at best.

Furniture is expensive because it's supposed to last longer, meaning you are paying extra money to ensure that someone can make a living.

Rich people have no taste

Fanfic about two real people or a real personxreader is gross, but it has a valid existence. I'd just rather not see it.

If your favorite celebrity gets in a relationship you should not spread rumors that their partner is abusing them. They were probably never going to date you, its ok to mourn, but be mature and congratulate them on their relationship.

No matter what political system is in place, there will be some form of corruption.

The idea of masculine and feminine hobbies is fake.

The idea of race is socially real but biologically fake. That doesn't mean it doesn't matter or affect us though, it just means that you need to think twice when old white man tries to say you do x because you are biologically y. You most likely do x because of your culture.

Farming is overrated

Big Business Agriculture overplanting and harvesting plants such as corn is the major reason we have high rates in obesity in this country. We need to stop their lobbying and being subsidized. (This country being America)

Immigrant workers are the backbone of any 1st world country

Companies should stop outsourcing to nations that support unethical work conditions, however their outsourcing has helped many people find careers and support themselves in this increasingly globalised world

Globalisation is a bad thing.

We need to do away with the words "racism" and "prejudice" and bring in "colourism" "ethnicism" and "biased hate"

Pink is a good color, but its ok to dislike it

It is ok to try new things and set them aside because you aren't good at them right away.

Many talents require time and money. If you are fortunate enough to be talented at something as a hobby, you should be thankful.

The elderly aren't the enemy.

Social Media is inherently classist and racist. There's a bit of sexism going on there too.

Exercise culture is inherently classist and ableist.

It is ok to have your own hobbies, but it is not ok to criticize people for the hobbies they don't share with you.

You don't need to like whatever is popular or trending. You don't even need to check it out if it doesn't pique your interest

Makeup isn't for everyone. It's really expensive and time consuming
