I'm genuinely happy seeing these dolls all together. I'm so nostalgic for Drawn Together that I've always wanted to have dolls of them and seeing it realised makes me incredibly happy. For the dolls I wasn't *just* aiming for completely show accurate dolls but rather make the dolls seem like a believable piece of merchandise for their genres. So Toot's hair isn't 100% show accurate but I wanted to lean into the 1920s glamour styles, or how Xandir draws a bit from Final Fantasy designs and less stylistic Legend of Zelda. Or that Clara is a believable Disney princess doll, or how Foxxy draws upon tv show merch from the 70s, while Ling Ling is closer to a Pokemon figurine rather than a jointed thing. Here is my Simba Toys Twilight Teenz doll before and after my customisation. Her body was heavily modified with Superfine White Milliput, rerooted with black Synatra hair from CustomdollhairAU and repainted with acrylic paint. Despite the pillow-ness of the mods, Toot maintains most of her articulation asides from her waist joint. After the milliput cured, it required a lot of sanding and carving to look okay since I still wanted my Toot doll to look cute. So, Drawn Together is a show that has fallen into obscurity but still has a place in my heart even if it's crass and aged poorly. And hey I really liked the fact it was a weird parody/pastiche of different animation styles even if a lot of the writing doesn't land. Foxxy Love was a riff on 1960s/1970s Hanna Barbera mystery solving characters, but between her voice actor Cree Summer and her usual role of being the only sane person in the show I've been wanting to make a doll of her. However I didn't want to reroot and rebody a doll just so I can do such a simplistic face up and skimpy clothes. However today I found this articulated Asha sculpt doll with dark brunette hair so it was pretty perfect as a base figure for me. I haven't done the Hanna Barbera style on a doll before but I do find it fun and effective. So I picked up some fleece since even the shortest fur I could find didn't look quite right. Her tail has a wire armature in it so it can pose but otherwise I am quite proud how she turned out. Here is Xandir P Wifflebottom from Drawn Together. He is made using a Hanamichi Sakuragi action figure head from the anime Slamdunk adapted to fit on a Hasbro Disney Descendants Jay body. This was the closest face shape I could find for Xandir's faux anime look since anime style male dolls are incredibly difficult to find, especially in the stylisation needed. I had to sand off his molded eyebrows and hair which was really difficult because it turned out the head wasn't a vinyl or ABS plastic but rather polyurethane resin, so when it's sanded it had a finer dust particle which is incredibly dangerous to breathe in. So I had to carefully sand off what I could and did a major hack job at the hair cuz I didn't want to mess around too much. I also sculpted his ears from milliput and refined things as I went. Surprisingly, the factory paint was rubbing off from me just handling the head so there's that to keep in mind I guess. The repaint process was relatively straightforward after custom matching the face to the body. Since Xandir is a flatly coloured character and that I wanted to emulate late 90s video game figures I opted not to add much subtlety to the paint. His hair is just brushed yarn wefts that Mozekyto popularised on Youtube with. I ended up pretty much densely gluing on wefts by trimmed the glued ends as small as possible and placing them as close as possible. I ended up styling his hair to imitate as much of that 2000s anime videogame Final Fantasy spiky hair just as much as Xandir's base design. My Drawn Together dolls are ofc not only drawing from the show but the genres the characters are based in to help extrapolate the doll aspects too. I did end up flattening Toot's hair because before it was too outwards, though I do acknowledge it's still not quite Toot's hair. However I have binged a ton of 1920s fashion videos on Youtube and I can't bring myself to give her a 2000s bob cuz I wanted to lean into the Clara Bow-ish style look. Her hair being synatra made it super easy to style with hair dryer heat. This was posted early to Patreon so please check it out if you wanna see fresh steaming content. So I dislike sewing but I find I am getting better at it I think. My usual method is cutting out a vague shape then pinning and sewing things until it fits. For Toot, I basically made her dress by making a sleeveless top, and cutting out a v to fit her collar on. Her skirt is a quarter circle skirt and it's basically lined to hide my awful hand stitching, For her bow, it's made up of two pieces of ribbon. One piece was a loop and the other piece was wrapped around the middle to form the two ends. So this has taken me multiple tries at sewing this outfit and failing because the body is so oddly shaped and fabric drapes weirdly. I also tried really hard at making it removable but the lack of articulation or removable hands has meant all these clothes are basically sewn in into the doll. Here is Xandir P Wifflebottom completed. Definitely one of my most deceptively difficult projects to complete to date, most because every single plan I had in mind was thrown out the window as I did it. He is a Slamdunk Hanamichi Sakuragi head heavily carved up and modded to work on a Hasbro Disney Descendants Jay body with female action figure hands. The hair is brushed out yarn wefts glued on and styled. His boots are janky as heck as fabric glue leaves weird marks and whatever but right now it does its job of showcasing who the character is. It's a pair of fabric socks glued onto Ken doll shoes and he's been given huge platform soles to make his height the same as my other Drawn Together dolls. His shoulder armour is also milliput that's spray painted with silver paint and detailed with black paint.
