my thoughts on manifest finale

an end of an era…

It goes without saying big props to all the cast and crew for such amazing storytelling for 4 seasons! Dang I’ll miss the 828 crew! I also want to add that Ben was giving strong manic red string energy for like the first 3.5 seasons so I found him annoying for a lot of the show but I’m glad I was actually able to enjoy his presence this last half lol

SPOILERS AHEAD

RIGHT OFF THE BAT IM SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO EAT MY WORDS! I was convinced when zeke died that it was making room for jared and michaela endgame AND IM SO GLAD THAT IT WASNT! (i'm just going to ignore ep 15-19) and despite the bts romance between jr and melissa, zeke and michaela had much stronger chemistry imo and im soooooo glad they were endgame

i loved the conclusion of the 828 mystery and the callings and everything! when i first started the show i was so apprehensive as a former catholic about the biblical elements (just because i didn't want it to feel like propganda-y) but how they weaved elements of like noah ark's and like judgement day, i was okay with it

as for the whole ACTUAL ending (ie them landing back in 2013), i both love and hate time travel / alt timelines in shows because depending on how they explain it i can't wrap my head around it so hopefully any fellow 828'ers can help me out. so i understand that they were essentially given a second chance to right some wrongs and whatever but like for zeke and michaela, does that mean zeke will never go into the cave in 2017? since you find out the callings were basically memories, michaela tells zeke to "find her" in the divine consciousness so he had that "calling" in the cave - is this just a separate timeline? i'm kinda confused lol any help?

all in all thanks manifest cast and crew for an amazing 4/5 years of hard work!!!

Can I just say Jeff Rake is an absolute genius.

Whether you loved the ending, hated the ending, were ambivalent about it or left feeling confused as heck - viewers and fans of this show are going to be discussing and debating what happened after the final credits rolled for a very long time to come and THAT is what makes a masterful TV show!

finished the last season of manifest and some ship thoughts!

ive been saying it since drea showed up but seriously, mick x jared x drea ot3 come on!!!! poly detectives pls let hope have three parents 2k24

i was surprised they gave benvi a canon moment but i was here for it :') that one episode where saanvi kisses him for a cover but ben doesnt even seem phased and only gives her a Look at the end of the episode has very strong "this never occured to me before but actually this makes more sense" vibes from ben 😂 like even his reaction after they kissed for cover felt so platonic (imo) but then later on he realizes that subconsciously he's been heading there this whole time and he has an "oh" moment, but it's more like an "oh, duh" moment

niche but that scene where jared gives joe's kid a hug and then later on in the season when joe is so lovingly showing jared (and the stones) photos of charlie makes me think jared x joe would be cute, esp cuz jared wants kids so bad and he was so good with charlie

EAGAN AND ADRIAN AM I RIGHT????? man i was already thinking they'd be funny to ship together because they're both kinda self-serving disasters that have hearts deep, deeeeeeeeep down, but that moment when they held hands with the necklace between them? and then starting a business together when they land back in 2013??? so many options for them 😂 even just adrian showing up to angelina and eagan being married and being like dude wtf??? with the added emotional plot of being lowkey jealous and not sure why is a really funny fic idea

ultimately, i liked what they did w the ending tho! it was really cute what they did with tj and the girl older!cal dated, esp cuz both their s.o.'s kinda de-aged on them 😂 i also really love drea so im glad they had jared meet her right then, and it was cute how mick searched the cabs for zeke :') and it's not often we see a bi girl end up with the girl in her love triangle so that was nice for saanvi too yayay 🥰🥰

I think the thing that bothers me the most about the manifest writing is the romantic relationships many of them feel a bit pointless and only there to prop up the “endgame” relationships. I find the platonic relationships to be way more compelling and better thought out. Except of course Bethany and Georgia and Thomas and Leo love them🥰.

Still trying to process the ending of manifest but needless to say I’m highly disappointed Jared and Mick didn’t end up together 😭 like why string us on for the entire series if they weren’t going to be end game!

Non jachaela related since they basically had a reset Drea and Michaela don’t know each other and that’s literally my favorite friendship ever!

Sidenote…am I the only one who just assumed Drea was a lesbian? I was so confused when she started hooking up with Jared 😂

Hey how did you find the season 4 finale for manifest? I noticed your the only one on Tumblr doing manifest stuff so I was just interested.

personally I felt the series really was so whacky that the finale couldnt really live up to my expectations. and then I was pretty disappointed with the ending that everything was reset

honestly I love drea and jared together and was dying for them to be a couple for the entire first 2 seasons drea was there so I was v happy that drea + jared and mick + zeke were endgame!! I love jared and michaela together (and the actors are together irl how cute 🥹) but I just feel like drea and zeke are so perfect for them. And I love drea and zeke as standalone characters too lol

I was so happy that cal and olive get their childhoods back but TJ and olive???? violet and cal??? eden not existing???? so sad

I hope they’ll do a spin-off eventually but idk if that’s just wishful thinking. I would honestly watch anything that anyone from this cast is in though now they’re all so talented

p.s Josh Dallas in Once Upon A Time is SO good 10/10 reccomend

Now that Manifest season 4 is over, there are a lot of Jared/Michaela shippers that are disappointed (even though the actors are dating irl) and even though I am a Zekaela shipper I just want to say from what I've noticed in the show about Jared and Michaela.

aside from the phenomenal chemistry that they obviously have because the actors are dating in real life, there were some things wrong with the two. I was always bothered by Jared dating Mick's best friend after she supposedly died, and of course, I don't blame them, they were both emotional, and they used each other to cope with it, but their whole hook-up in season one was iffy to me. He was also pretty cold towards her with the "callings" which yes from everyone else's p.o.v it's understandable but he KNOWS about her whole situation. And later on when Zeke came into the picture and survived the death he got mad that he did live thinking that he'd get his chance with Mick again but he doesn't.

Now I don't remember a lot about the first two seasons so I'm not going to nitpick at it as much or at all for that matter and if anyone has unbiased memory of it you're free to correct me in a polite manner and I'll fix it. *SPOILERS AHEAD* In season 4 part 1 we learn a lot about Jared and his family which is one of the things that I really love because I don't want to dislike him and it was nice seeing the Latino household he lives in. But you can tell from those flashbacks that Jared is a family man and desires a family could be a cultural thing because Latinos (Hispanics if you want to say it that way) are all about family but when you see Michaela and Zeke talking and Zeke mentions kids he says to her "I know you don't want kids" which isn't a problem at all for her, it's her choice on if she wants kids or not, but that is very different from what Jared obviously wants. And I'm not saying they wouldn't work out, Jared could agree to that and be in a committed relationship with Michaela but sometimes it won't work out that way. (Also correct me if I'm wrong, I could be mixing this up with OUAT but weren't Jared and his ex-wife trying for kids?).

Also before I get to S4P2 I need to talk about this, Jared and Drea Mikami started a "friends with benefits" relationship I believe as a coping mechanism to get over Michaela but then he actually wanted a relationship with her, to which she said no. (Keep this in mind)

So in season 4 part 2 (or B if you call it that) Zeke has died and all the 828 passengers are in a sort of Detention center (I think it's been a few months although Eden looks 7 and not 3 or however old she really is) Jared would visit Mick while she also had visions of Zeke visiting her and we got to see flashbacks into Zeke and Michaela's relationship which was lovely to see. But Jared kinda takes this as an opportunity to go back to Michaela and they bond and start to date again which honestly felt a lot like fan service. and you can obviously argue that they had the best chemistry but they are also dating in real life. But it's not until

*MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SHOW AND CHOOSE TO READ THIS*

Drea Mikami gets pregnant (which she slayed in each scene) that Jared gets what he wants, a child and a family, which at first they agree to co-parent but you can tell that that wasn't going to stick and when she accidentally spilled that their baby was a girl and she wants to name her Hope Jared gets excited and says "Esperanza, it's beautiful" (which really touched my heart) but you could tell that he desired to be with the mother of his child, and even Michaela knew this, which is why she let them be with each other.

And when the 828 passengers survived the death date and went to a time where they didn't miss 5 and a half years they still found each other (which he got over Michaela really fast)

obviously, I don't care who you ship this is just what I think and I mainly wanted to say it because on instagram all the Jachaela shipper were disappointed in the ending (even though they're canon irl) I really like the way it ended, but to each their own.
