It is a good thing that the BG3 team is attentive and we get updates all the time, but where does it end? If they are going to continue changing stuff about the game per request, what will be there left of what they envisioned in the first place? Especially for character traits and dialogue, like making them kinder and more likeable, just because there were two more people asking for it and they happened to see it. I just don't want to see characters shift into generic ones just because of a need to respond to everyone's ideas

we're going to seize power from the absolute's cult! how? well... they'll cross that bridge when they get there. a solution will probably become obvious eventually, right? whatever, who cares about the details.

we're going to kill cazador! how? aha, he's thought about this; he's going to collect information! and how is he going to do that and make sure he gets all of the information he needs? well....... they'll probably find things out by asking around, right? that part isn't as important, don't worry about it.

even with the bite -- buddy. pal. what were you planning to do if you had successfully bitten a party member without anyone noticing. when they wake up the next morning, they're going to notice the bite marks and how sluggish they feel.

astarion can think one step ahead max and that's where the ball stops rolling.

I don't think we talk enough about the bite scene in the context of what it means for Astarion.

In his origin route, that scene is preceded by a nightmare where Cazador reminds him of the rules. When he wakes up Tav or whoever in the night I think it's out of desperation, yeah, but not for the reason he says. He's weaker, sure, but more than that he's afraid. He's so afraid of going back.

So not only is it (potentially depending on your choices) Astarion's first taste of humanoid blood and a show of trust on both sides, it also proves to himself that he can break at least one of Cazador's rules, thou shalt never drink the blood of thinking creatures. It's a test.

And if Astarion can disobey one command for the first time in gods know how long, if he can drink a person's blood and walk in the sunlight, maybe he truly can be free.
