Controversial Opinion but one thing that I learned in the last few months of 2023 was to not accommodate my social anxiety at any cost. If you're someone like me, whose social anxiety is caused by fear of messing up and just not being used to socializing, then this is for you. Do not indulge or adapt to your anxiety, instead just do it. I know it seems ridiculous, but really you have to just expose yourself to what you're anxious and scared of, which in this case is socializing or basically doing anything publicly.
Exposure=Knowledge=practice=confidence=less anxiety because once you're exposed to your fear, it'll get easier. Sure, it may takes weeks, months and maybe even years, but you will eventually gain confidence and get better at it. For instance, let's say you suck at doing pull ups. But you practice it for 30 days and eventually you will see improvements. It's the same thing with social behavior, you won't get better at it if you don't participate in socializing. You have to show up, even if it's just for 5 minutes, even if it's just walking to the grocery shop. You need little steps to achieve confidence and fuck social anxiety up. If your anxiety is telling you not to do it because you'll look dumb or ugly or whatever, it's lying to you. You need to do it anyways. Literally cannot explain this enough, do it anyways, even if you're bad at it, even if you don't know how to do it. Do it anyways.

In my most recent blog entry, I shared my insights from Manifestells's videos. I firmly subscribe to the notion that consuming targeted content can significantly influence our thought patterns. There's a saying that goes, "Alter your thoughts, and you'll transform your behaviors. Alter your behaviors, and you'll transform your life." (Or something along those lines!) Lately, I've been engrossed in content that aids in reshaping my mindset and convictions. Another content creator on YouTube that I've been particularly drawn to is TheWizardLiz. Here are a few invaluable gems I've gathered from their content:
You have to make it work, there is no other option.
To improve your life, stop living in the past.
Instead of focusing on your past, focus on the your future and goals.
There is no looking back.
Forgive yourself. You have to forgive yourself.
Stop the self-pity party. If you want to improve your life, you don’t have time to wallow. Yes it was sad that that thing happened to you, wasn’t your fault, move forward.
Start a healthy lifestyle. It is not wrong to want to be healthy. You can start small if you need to.
If you don’t find yourself worthy of care, the world won’t find you worthy of care.
GO TO THERAPY
Stay away from people that drain you.
Realize your worth and stop settling.
Be delusional. Look at yourself in the mirror and say: I AM POWERFUL
A queen is not worried about what other people are saying about her.
The person I’m trying to be better than is the person I was yesterday.
When a queen doesn’t like her situation, she plans her exit.
80% of your looks can be improved, you’re probably not ugly you just don’t take care of yourself.

practice positive thinking + reinforce negative thoughts
practice self love + body positivity
overall, i just want to take better care of myself, mentally and physically. <3

Gentle glow up
Focusing on peace, experiencing life, nurturing yourself, doing what you love and caring for people you love. It’s quality over quantity, and happiness over achievement.

I want to improve myself, but I deeply value peace, calmness and slow life. I have tried, but I’m burning out on any kind of grind. That is why I have been creating this system of gentle glow up to have both improvements and relaxation.
Some people may believe you can only improve with hard, enduring work, but I believe you need to find what works for you personally. That is what works for me.
I want to share some of the principles of how to gently glow up:
Self-care is a priority (both physical and mental self-care)
Living regardless of external expectations and standards
Slow life, no rushing
Spending time on things that matter to you
No grind, but gentle progress (it may not be as fast, but you get to live a little, you know)
I’m personally against nonchalant attitude towards others (you need people you care about, really)
For most of the points, you’ll need a lot of self-reflection and reflection in general
A happy heart makes a pretty and successful person, I believe.
I will be making posts on the things I found important for this kind of glow up. Examples:
Slow life and how it helps with happiness and being true to yourself
Detaching from other’s expectations, FOMO, the need to rush and do more
Following your interests, not trends
Working smart, not hard
Harsh boundaries so you can keep being soft
Reasons to not be that person who “only cares about themselves” and “puts themselves first” to an unhealthy degree
Stop being unconsciously tense or agitated
Relaxing practices
Planning in a way that doesn’t feel restrictive

okay, you do homestuck, right? ive got this project idea in the works. basically, its homestuck, but thematically inverted. i havent actually finished homestuck, but I made it a long way in, to around Dirk's Derse Coup. i have some questions if you dont mind.
first of all, ive observed thus far that Homestuck id about discarding yourself. characters gradually lose defining traits and get closer to the platonic ideals of their classpects. strife specibi seem to represent that which ails our heroes. to become a god, you must sacrifice your earthly waking body on a magic bed, succumbing to an endless sleep to live forever within a dream. for my version, I wanted to do the opposite, having characters become more of themselves instead of less, and kill their dreamselves to truly "wake up," but first i need to know if these observations are actually valid if you read the whole story, and more generally, how valid is this idea?
any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Now let me preface this by saying: You can do anything at all. You're not restricted by anything other than your own creativity, and largely speaking, so long as you think it's cool/works, any approach is valid. Similarly, Death of the Authro, yadda yadda, there's all manner of divergent readings on a text. So anything regarding personal projects is really largely up to the taste of the author.
That being said, if you're asking me on my take on this theme in the text of Homestuck, I'd say that while you've definitely noticed one of the Big Themes of Homestuck, I'd argue the way Homestuck goes about it is the inverse- Taking the 'Platonic Ideal' of a character, while some characters that achieve Ultimate Self status are in fact better off, namely the Sprites or those sidelined in some way, the loss of self that comes with it is largely showcased as a Bad Thing in the instance of those who already were more important/relevant to the main cast. Even then, and while intrinsically tied to their Classpect, the characters still have their own particular spins on the Classpects- A Classpect is too broad a concept to have a singular 'Platonic Ideal', just as often times the Platonic Ideal of their character can contain contradictions in the 'whole' of their existence!
Homestuck is, first and foremost, a Coming of Age story about Teens growing up into Adulthood, with all the pain, trauma and baggage of carrying the legacy of their world, and their families, on their shoulders, in one way or another. SBURB wants the characters to go through an Arc, develop, and become worthy gods, but as we see time and time again, this is not always necessarily in a character's best interest, and the idea of the Self, what makes you You, if you're still You as time passes, as your body changes, as you become something metaphysically completely detached from what you used to be, and how this affects your interpersonal relationships and your relationship to the world around you, is far more complex than simply 'discarding traits to become closer to your Classpect's Platonic Ideal'.
You succumb to sleep in the Quest Bed, but simultaneously, you do wake up as your Dream Self. Whether you take this as being taken by this Platonic Dream, or truly Waking Up to the true nature of your existence, that's a matter of taste and views. Likewise, this doesn't make the characters that didn't God Tier or die and become their Dream Self any less likely to undergo changes to their Self and 'wake up' in their own right.
It's a complex story! It tackles a lot of themes of the self, agency, growing up and the like, and that is always messy. Some are happier becoming something else. Some cling to what they were. Some were always hiding what they truly were. Some are still figuring out. And that's fine. The metaphysics of SBURB are a device to explore the different ways all of this affects the characters! So the most important thing I'd say is less the validity of the observation in regards to an Inverted Version of Homestuck based on your views, and more:
How would this scenario affect the characters differently, and what new hurdles/feelings/predicaments would this create in their development and the story?

Stretching
- I’d recommend doing the full body k-pop stretch by Hinafit.
Eating breakfast
- Skipping breakfast in the morning can be so bad for you and cause you to eat more later on so it’s better to have breakfast even if it’s something small like fruit
Meditation
- I do a ten minute guided meditation every morning and it’s really helped me with my stress levels
Go through flashcards
- I do this ten minutes before I leave for school, it’s a good refresh on what I’m learning or what i’ve learnt
Brushing teeth
- You should do this as soon as you wake up so that you brush away all the bacteria from the night

I am not great about a whole lot yet when it comes to my self care and rituals, but I am growing.
Tonight I showered and I did my new normal of taking a wash rag and hot water to wash my face. Then I used my favorite face wash that is eco-friendly and hypoallergenic (super sensitive skin) followed by a lavender moisturizer!
I used to do a full routine not just wash and moisturize but it's hard clawing my way back to where I was when I've been spiraling in depression and kept so busy, exhausted, and drained I couldn't even care for myself. I am getting there though, step by step.
