Types of Dream Work
Tumblr media
Dream Journaling: Keeping a dream journal is the foundation of dream work in witchcraft. It involves writing down your dreams as soon as you wake up, even if you can only remember a few details. This practice helps you remember your dreams more vividly, identify patterns or recurring themes, and develop a deeper understanding of your subconscious mind.
Lucid Dreaming: Lucid dreaming is the ability to become aware that you are dreaming and to control the dream. It can be used for manifestation, healing, and exploring your inner world. To practice lucid dreaming, you can use reality checks, set intentions before you go to sleep, and practice visualization techniques.
Astral Projection: Astral projection is the practice of leaving your physical body and traveling to different realms or dimensions. It can be used for spiritual exploration, connecting with spirit guides, or receiving messages from the universe. To practice astral projection, you can use meditation, visualization, among other journeying techniques. It's important to practice caution and preparation, and work with an experienced practitioner or teacher if possible.
Dream Incubation: Dream incubation is the practice of setting an intention before you go to sleep to dream about a specific topic or question. It can be used for divination, problem-solving, or spiritual exploration. To practice dream incubation, you can use visualization, affirmations, or ritual to set your intention.
Dream Interpretation: Dream interpretation is the process of analyzing the symbols and messages in your dreams to gain insight into your subconscious mind. It can be used for spiritual growth, self-awareness, and problem-solving. To practice dream interpretation, you can use books, online resources, or work with a dream interpreter or witch.
Dream Protection: Dream protection is the practice of protecting yourself from negative energies or entities that may enter your dreams. It can be used for spiritual protection, emotional healing, or to prevent nightmares. To practice dream protection, you can use visualization, affirmations, or protection spells or talismans.

Fun fact, one of my hardcore boundaries with my deities is not to send me spiders. I'm terrified of them. My brain perceives a spider in the vicinity as a threat to my life, fight or flight kicks in, I will probably cry, the whole nine yards. I don't care how associated they are with spiders, I feel unsafe around spiders.
I saw that Loki, at least to enough people to worry me, is associated with spiders. IMMEDIATELY I was on guard. Loki was very insistent that he would NEVER, the goal is never to make me feel unsafe.
Cue two nights after Loki's first appearance to me, I have a dream in which the main "plot" is a spider. It was barely even a nightmare, I wasn't SCARED it was just a pain in the ass. I remember this dream halfway through the day, start laughing because Loki found a loophole, and get a very distinct "see? Your fears can't hurt you. They can even be funny."
I can't even be mad, because that was smart. And yes, very funny.
Cut to last night; my dream is general messy weird dream shit, but what sticks out is a spider that's completely irrelevant. out of place. On a segment of "wall" that shouldn't even be there, in the middle of a big room, and it interrupts the "scene" completely. Instead of freaking out I grab the arm of my friend and say "spider," and just move us away and leave it be. Progress. Not a real spider, I'd still cry if a real one was involved, but undeniable progress in my subconscious.
Loki is very pleased with himself. I am entertained.

Rosemary; Salvia rosmarinus

rosemary is a very powerful little plant and I recommend it as a witch's essential herb, a non-negotiable if you will, as it has so many uses.
Other names: sea dew, compass plant, polar plant
Nutritional and Medicinal Fun Facts:
Good for hair and scalp
Good for metabolic health
High in carnosic acid which has anti-cancer properties
Improves memory and concentration
Improves eye health
Can help regulate liver
Aeromatic may help reduce asthma symptoms
Aeromatic and eating it can help reduce stress and anxiety
May reduce inflammation
May help increase circulation
High in antioxidants, manganese pantothenic acid, niacin, thiamin, folate, and riboflavin
extra fun fact: part of the mint family; eucalyptol (camphor-like) and alpha-pinene (pine-like) are the compounds that primarily give the rosemary flavor
~Magical Properties & Lore~

Christians believe it grows for 33 years until it is the same height as Jesus. They believe it got blue flowers when Mary placed her cloak on it when fleeing to Egypt. It is a Christian symbol of fidelity and remembrance.
Couples should plant on their wedding day and interpret the growth as divination for the family.
Couples have also wore it at their wedding and given as favors to their guests.

In Wales, it was used as a funeral favor and sprigs were lowered with the casket.
Embalming herb in ancient Egypt
Ancient Greece & Hellenism

Do you possibly have any advice for communing with one's spirits in dreams? I know practice is a major point, but if you have any other advice, I would love to know!
A few things I have found helpful in this regard include:
Working on my sleep hygiene in general, in order to establish a reliable baseline for how I seem to dream.
Including consistent meditative and devotional work into my nightly routine.
Keeping a dream journal that I add to any time I awake with memories of my oneiric experiences.
Utilizing the magical aid of oneirogenic plants, such as Mugwort, Mexican Calea, Blue Lotus, African Dream Bean, Harmel, African Dream Root, or Valerian.

Actually went full dragonshape in my dreams last night, without consciously trying to, for basically a whole dream sequence! That felt great - I don't remember the details but it was a combat/defense sequence, so I got a really good feel for my flight capabilities and tbh I think I was more agile than I've been giving myself credit for.
Still don't know how the fire breath works, though. Oh well.

Low budget/Discreet cleansing
Use bubbles to cleanse your space. As they pop, they clean and cleanse as they float, and release positive energy into the air when they burst. Blow the bubbles in a clockwise circle to invite the energy into your space, or blow the bubbles in each corner of the room.
Different scents of soap can also be used for different intentions! (Flowers=growth, apples=hardiness/fertility, etc)
Enjoy!!!!

Prophet Oil
This spell oil is created to aid you in prophetic dreams. Any dreams regarding signs/communication from deities, spirit guides and ancestors. It can also aid you in remembering your dreams with the help of Rosemary. Along with aid in astral projection if that's what you wish to do. I however suggest wearing protections before you wear this oil in that case if that is your intention.
You could use this in trance work as well for clear vision. Possibilities are endless!
While this isn't the best-smelling oil, it gets the job done when placed over the crown and third eye.
I have made a spell sachet to place under your pillow as well. This will be in an upcoming post so check out the spells masterpost to stay tuned.
Here are the correspondences
Jasmine -  Dream magic, psychic development
Lavender - Dreamwork, spiritual connections
Rosemary - Dream remembrance
Myrrh - Spiritual connection
Thyme - Clairsenses
Coconut oil carrier fractionated - The moon (dreamwork associations and psychic senses)
You can either do the folk method or the hot method. You can find my post on infused oils here to learn how to make infused spell oils. I suggest if you are an animist or someone who wants more power from your oils. Speak to the herbs kindly, treat them less like an ingredient and ask them respectfully for their aid and the purpose they'll have in your oil. Use intention. The same goes for the Coconut oil.
This oil is best charged on a deity altar that has associations with either prophecy, magic or moon associations. However, this is not needed and you can charge it perfectly yourself.
You can sub any of these, however, substitutions only go so far before it's not even the same recipe and intent. Try to keep herbs within the theme of the moon, dreams, spiritual connection and psychic development for this oil. Coconut oil is a perfect example of an association. Work with what you have however, don't go wasting your money.
Blessings!
