2022 12 04 Sunday

My boyfriend and I will be taking a big roadtrip, about three hours, to see a Christmas parade in the afternoon, and a festival in the evening. The businesses in that particular city neighborhood are open tonight when many of them wouldn't be normally. They callit an "open house". The businesses and the city have decorated the neighborhood, and there are food booths and such in a neighborhood park. We will get dinner at an upscale restaurant in the business district.

I had an outfit more or less picked out, with a sweater, a dressy skirt, a pair of printed Christmas leggings, and a pair of flat dressy low shaft ankle boots (we may have to park some distance away, making a change of shoes unworkable most likely). It is a sunny day, but I saw the weather forecast colder than I was prepared for, so now I need to pick out a different outfit. I'm not too happy about that.

I'm having to pick out an alternate outfit in a hurry, and I'm not in a pants mood. I have a red and white sweaterdress, that I could pair with solid red leggings, and dark green mid-calf boots. They're actually a close match for some of my olive green accessories. I actually like knee high boots on these cold days, but I don't have any green flat ones. With this being the first year I've worn flat boots, I only have a few pairs, and I don't want to wear black today.

I also prefer a shade closer to a kelly green in Christmas outfits. It feels more festive to me than olive green, but I'll do my best with what I have. I guess I'll have to go shopping LOL. I do have a brick red pair of flat knee high boots, but I just wore green leggings three days ago, and I do like to change things up

There are a couple of things on which I think my style is starting to change a little. First, I don't really like skirts and dresses that go below my knees. I have just a couple of midi length dresses, but the only times I wear then is on the coldest of cold days in the middle of winter (think highs in 10s, that don't happen too often around here), so that I can at least still wear a dress.

I've also never been an OTK boot person. Not that I dislike them per se; I actually have one pair, that was a gift from an ex boyfriend when I was in college. I've only worn them, not even ten times I think, on the coldest of days. I've worn them to work maybe two or three times, under a midi dress, for warmth.

That's what I'm in the mood for today, actually; flat OTK boots, on top of leggings, all under a festive midi skirt or dress. Maybe I should just go get a few of those items and wear them occasionally, just to get used to them. Before I met my boyfriend, I haven't done so many things that involved being outside for so many evenings in the winter, so I never really had a reason to get any. I'm enjoying these dates, though, so maybe it's one way of being a little more comfortable in the cold, to enjoy the activities a little more.

I was shoveling my sidewalk during my lunch break, wearing an ankle-length wool coat, equally long black striped dress with a leather cincher belt, gloves, and combat heels--over all looking like I just finished a long shift at the foul incantations factory-- and these two bright eyed homeschool kids scampered up and offered to help me shovel. I was, frankly, a little shocked at their daring (the last small strange child that I passed on the sidewalk while wearing that coat asked me if I was a vampire).

But then they informed me that we'd actually meet before. I flagged them down at the end of Halloween trick or treating and emptied the entire remainder of my candy into their bags, and apparently bought goodwill for life by doing so.

So I thanked them and hired them to shovel my walk during this weekend's snowfall, because I'll be mostly gone. The kids are all right.

Concept: Fire Lords traditionally dress like the stages of the sun to match their reign.

When Zuko is first crowned, he dresses in the colours of dawn. Bright yellows and pinks and even purples. He starts to wear more traditional crimson-and-gold robes after a few years, the colours of midday when Agni is at his strongest. 2022 11 27 Sunday

My boyfriend and I will be going to see another Christmas parade this afternoon, and dinner afterward.

There is rain this morning, but that's supposed to clear up, and likely see a little sun later on, and it's supposed to be rather warm. I have just the leggings for today, Christmas leggings, but not in the typical colors. There's some black for this morning, some white for the weather clearing, and some blue for blue sky. I definitely want to wear them. I'll do red and green above.

There isn't the typical walking around for the Christmas windows that my boyfriend likes to photograph, but there is a mall that we will be going to before the parade. We won't really be there that long, though, so I'll try just wearing my heels without taking a change of shoes. And a pair of my super high heels, at that. They're comfortable, so I think I'll be okay.

I normally wouldn't think to wear my blue coat for a Christmas outing, but they match my leggings, so I'll wear that one, if I'll even need it at all. Maybe later tonight.
