Dried Flower Christmas
It’s that time of year when all of our fresh garden flowers are gone and we turn to those that we dried or preserved for the long winter season. For my post on the rebirth of dried flowers which were very popular in the 70’s and 80’s, go to Dried Flowers Back From the Dead. And what better time to use them, but for Christmas with fresh vibrant colors for the season? Wreath of summer-dried flowers…

hello i just got home from work n I'm thinking about festive eddie and witchy
Eddie wasn't able to fly into Hawkins for the holidays because of his work schedule, so he brought Hawkins to him.
It's your first Christmas Eve together and he's just locked up the store early to go pick Wayne up from the airport. It's the first time you and Wayne meet.
He's staying at Eddie's one bedroom apartment, your boyfriend taking the chance to sleep over at your house (like he hasn't been sleeping there for the past week anyway).
Anyways, he's taken the week off work where he could to show Wayne around SF, since the man has never left Indiana. Over Christmas lunch, Eddie meets your coven family, that is strangely made up of just women, but he doesn't think too much about it because they fawn over him and how handsome he is, and they keep uncle and nephew well fed.
Wayne think's you're lovely, maybe a bit too odd for him to understand, with your whimsical attitude and the way the energy seems to suddenly change when you're around, but he sees the way Eddie is completely smitten over you, the pile of presents for you he's hidden in his closet. The picture you took of the two of you together at the Palace of Fine Arts on his fridge.
Wayne has even brought you a little present.
"Didn't know what ya liked, so I gotcha some chocolates" he said, taking a See's Candies chocolate box from his suitcase. You blush at the gesture, at how the man has automatically considered you part of his little family. A vintage brown corduroy jacket materializes itself already packaged up on your bed, you didn't know he was going to get you a gift.
But he loves it, as much as he loves the trucker hat Eddie's got him. Silly trucker hats are his thing, Eddie's gotten him one every Christmas for the past five years.
The contender this year is a hat that says- women love me, fish fear me
You laugh about how stupid that sounds, but the real joke is that your aunt Hilda really has the hots for Wayne.
Eddie gets you a new tarot deck. He's actually been taking notes since you've started dating.
Dried jasmine flowers are hard to come by? He's gotten you four small bottles of it. You dropped a crystal? He's got it. You say you like poppyseed chai cookies? He's had his neighbor bake them for you.
The way he dotes on you and fulfills your every need makes you the luckiest girl on Earth. Wayne says so, too.
You don't celebrate Christmas the traditional way, but the pagan version of it, which still calls for a tree and wreaths and evergreen branches all over your apartment, which you spend Christmas Eve in, Circe nuzzling in Wayne's lap as soon as e sits on the couch. You make a Yule log and decorate cookies. Various mistletoe branches hang on your roof.
Even late into the night, after Eddie has dropped off Wayne at his apartment, you tell him about a pagan tradition of performing fertility rituals under the mistletoe. Lit only by the lights of your tree and a fireplace, you end up falling asleep naked on your pink brocade rug.

A Case for Decorations.
Hi everyone! I realize it's been a second since the last interview was posted on here—I've been taking a break from Case (hopefully, I'll get back to it after the holiday season!), but I haven't been taking a break from working on little projects. I have been having so much fun making holiday crafts, that I thought I'd share some of my work, and give some tips in case anyone else was interested in making their own little treats!
Tumblr media
I had been coveting gingerbread houses that I had been seeing at places like HomeGoods, but wasn't feeling the prices. However, I saw plain wooden LED houses at Michael's for $4.99, and I had already been making little gingerbread ornaments, so I figured I could easily make my own gingerbread house, for relatively cheap! I first layered on brown acrylic paint, followed by a glittery acrylic paint top coat. After that all dried, I used a hot glue gun to build up the larger areas of "frosting." Then, I used puff fabric paint to cover the glue and do the more intricate designs.
The gingerbread tree (far right in the picture) is a florist's cone that I got with a 60% off coupon at Joann Fabrics. That required a lot of layers of paint, even though I used a sealant before hand! I already owned the mini plastic candy canes from a previous project, but I could see being able to make them with hot glue and paint!
With this project, I found that you should never try to do the fine details when the paint bottle is more than half full, if you want more control. I also recommend doing multiple houses at once, because you want to allow half the house to dry (which takes hours!) before doing the other sides. I had originally intended to do three, but it didn't seem quite like a village, and my mom kindly gave me two more of the houses, which was a treat!
Tumblr media
These little metal ornaments were fun and fairly simple to make! I had been seeing dozens upon dozens of cool little folksy ornaments being made out of scrap metal (such as pie tins), and had to try it myself! All you need is metal, something like a knitting needle (to draw designs), scissors, and an ornament hanger! I used hot glue to put together the flower. I really enjoyed this project, and hope to make more sculptural projects with metal soon!
Tumblr media
So for my birthday in October, I asked my twin brother for a gift card to Michael's, which has fueled a great many of my holiday projects! I saw these snow globes that you can fill yourself, and decided to make a holiday terrarium! You can make your own for very cheap—buy some holiday stems at Joann's or Michael's (or wherever you can find them), find a cheap glass receptacle at Goodwill, and add a short length of led fairy lights (with a timer setting of course) and you will have a beautiful centerpiece for less than $10!
Tumblr media
I found all sorts of blank wooden ornaments for decorating for 79 cents at Joann Fabrics, so I I have been having a lot of fun painting them. i designed my dream wreath, though it might be a bit expensive if I were to make it full size!
Tumblr media
I have always loved dried oranges, so I decided to make them in my oven this year! Word to the wise, they take FOREVER, so don't start them at 7pm on a weekday if you are hoping to get them done before 1 am! I attached them to a garland that I got at Joann Fabric's for ~$3 during their holiday sale this weekend!
Tumblr media
I had been seeing wreaths similar to this for years, but the ones I liked best seemed to be over $200, so I thought I'd take a crack at it myself! The little houses I had bought a while back, as Christmas tree ornaments, but I thought I'd paint them (with an extra glittery top coat), and use them on this wreath instead! Many of the trees I purchased at The Dollar Tree. The base of the wreath (not visible!) was less than $5 at Michael's (though I attached snowy boughs to cover it). If you find yourself with bare spaces, use cotton battiing (with glittery acrylic paint on top) to cover them up for a fun snow effect!
Tumblr media
I had made a gingerbread garland out of felt and fabric paint last year, and still had plenty of materials, so I decided to make a fun wall piece with what I had left over. The spoon was my mom's idea (a baking sort of thing)!
I hope to make more little holiday crafts in the upcoming weeks, and recommend you do the same. A lot of times, artists make a lot of art for others, but I think (if you can find the time!) that it's important to make little keepsakes for yourself, that you'll get to cherish for years to come. I was thinking about how holiday decorating is often not just something you do for yourself, but a way to bring joy to others as well. I can't tell you how many times I have seen a house with beautiful lights that just made my day!
I know that this hasn't been the easiest couple of months for most people, but I hope things brighten up soon, and that everyone has a happy holiday season! I've been doing this blog for close to ten years now, and I really appreciate your continued support! I plan on working on some cross-stitching next—you can keep up with me on my Instagram here!

14.12 - Christmas wreath!
Papyrus like Christmas wreaths. Love them even. When he can, he takes at last one to his den and makes a bed from it, blankets and pillows. It's about scents. If he has materials for more than one, he puts them upright, ties them together and puts blankets inside, making something like a round cradle.
-------
Victoria: Here! I made that one for you! Do you like it?
Plato: Yes, I love it! It that a... crown?
Victoria, giggling: No, silly! It's a wreath. You put it on a wall or a door!
Plato, doing everything not to sound disappointed: Oh... It's neat!
Victoria, still giggling: And this is a crown for you! From the same things, but smaller and lighter!
(In my head the first thing Victoria gave Plato was a flower crown. He loved it so much he dried and saved all the flowers from that. When she discovered that, she started making him crowns from everything she could. It's still one of his favourite things in the world.)
-------
Jennyanydot loves making wreaths with kittens, because they are always very creative, use different materials and get spectacular effects. There is only one thing banned - glitter. One year someone she doesn't want pointing to (TuśTuś) accidentally made something that exploded (how they made exploding wreath was beyond her) and covered her den in glitter for months. The rest of the kittens were delighted, but her and all parents? Not so much...
-------
Macavity: Don't you think it's a little...
Bombalurina, sweetly: Too much? No. I'll decorate your den as much as I like and you fall into the Christmas mood or I die.
Macavity: Did I upset you somehow?
Bombalurina, angry: Maybe.
-------
Mistoffelees: What the hell?
Mungojerrie: What's going on?
Mistoffelees: I wanted to practice some tricks, but every time I got a Christmas wreath from a hat! It's the seventh time!
Mungojerrie: You think it could be a coincidence that Macavity was running away from here, laughing?
Mistoffelees: I love him but I'll kill him...
-------
WARNING!!!! ABOUT SEX!!!!!!!
One year Tugger wore a Christmas wreath as his belt, but it was impractical and scratchy. He loved the look so next day he decorated one of his belts to look like a Christmas wreath. His fans were ecstatic. Munkustrap was a little less happy, especially when he kneeled before Tugger, both hot and eager, and he got all those pine, holly and other plants into his face.

Christmas with Keith Howell.
Chapter 1 & 2.
Chapter 1.
Gentle Keith👇
MC's first winter as Keith's lover in Jade.
The prince shows how the city is decorated for Christmas.
But Keith's gaze is fixed on the heroine.
Tumblr media
Keith: Today was the first time I was with you in the city decorated for Christmas. I'm so happy...
A gentle smile makes MC forget that it's winter.
MC: I'm a little uncomfortable, so please do it in moderation.
Keith: ...Yes, I'll do my best.
The girl is interested in the Christmas decorations. Keith leans closer to her and tells her that they are dried flowers woven into a Christmas wreath.
He knows well about the ornaments because every year he helps prepare for the Christmas party at the castle.
MC: I'm sure that every year the participants are pleased with Keith's attention to detail.
Keith: I hope they are.
Tumblr media
Keith: I want you to have fun this year, so I'll put a lot of effort into it...
He immediately fell silent, apologizing.
After all, he hasn't even invited her, and he's already thinking about how he's going to have fun with her at the party: showing off the decorations at the palace, eating sweets, dancing.
(.... I'm genuinely excited that Keith is going to be at the party with me.)
Keith: Miss MC, would you like to join me at the Christmas party?
MC: Yes, I'd love to. I'm already looking forward to decorations, sweets, and dancing.
She asks permission to help him prepare for the holiday. Keith doesn't want to bother her because it's her first Christmas in Jade.
But Keith quickly gives up. When his sweetheart looks at him like that, there can only be one answer.
Keith: I want you to help me with the holiday preparations.
As they walk through the bustling city, however, thoughts are swirling in the girl's head about what to get both Keith.
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
Keith's room.
They eat cake. The heroine is delighted, the prince is pleased.
She's been looking around pastry shops for gifts, but Keith seems to know sweets from Jade better.
Mean/Alter Keith 👇
Keith: Anything.
Keith: I like that cake too.
Keith: Even in the city you look back and forth, eating your favorite sweets, but wondering if you're really always thinking of me, aren't you?
MC decided to ask what to get Keith.
Tumblr media
Keith: I told you in the beginning, I don't care.
Keith seems to have been watching and knows that she has several gift options in addition to sweets.
MC: I want to give both Keith's a gift that they will like equally.
Keith: Isn't that easy?
Keith poked his finger on her cheek.
(Could it be...me!?)
The girl is embarrassed, a reaction that pleased Keith, but the gift is different. It's to help her get ready for the party.
Keith asks in a "gentle" Keith tone.
Keith: However "Miss" MC, did you just think of an embarrassing thing?
She tries to look away, but Keith grabs her chin and touches her lips with his finger.
Tumblr media
Keith: Here, tell me with your mouth.
Chapter 2.
MC confesses that she thought of embarrassing things.
For her honest answer, the prince kissed her.
Keith: You did well.
Have MC add that to her list of choices of what she wants to give him, too.
Tumblr media
Keith: I look forward to what you will give us that day.
*A passionate kiss*
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
Time has passed.
Keith's Room.
Gentle Keith 👇
Today's task was to create a card to send to the invited guests.
They colored and decorated the cards for each nobleman.
Keith praises her for the way she decorates the cards.
As she went about her work, she was reminded of the kiss with evil Keith and how he asked her awkward thought to make a gift option, too.
Her cheeks flushed.
At that moment, Keith's face moved closer to her and a gentle kiss touched her lips.
Keith: Miss MC, were you thinking about him?
Tumblr media
Keith: Right now, it's just me...right?
Agreeing, the girl received a few more kisses.
Embarrassed, they went back to their business. Writing invitations with servants is fun. But MC's presence makes him happier.
MC: Keith, can I help you with your preparations next year? And in another year?
MC: I want to feel the joy and happiness of approaching Christmas together.
Keith is happy and throws his arms around his lover.
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
Ballroom
Mean/Alter Keith 👇
MC and Keith have to decorate a gorgeous tree.
Keith: ...I'd like to do my best.
MC wanted to put a star on top of the tree, but realizing she couldn't do it because she couldn't reach it, she reached into the box to put the ornaments back.
Suddenly her body was in the air.
It was Keith who lifted her up so she could attach the ornament to the top of the tree.
(Since he's lifting me up like that, I feel like Keith is a man...)
(Big and strong. .....Oh, no. The more I think about it, the more embarrassed I get!)
She asks to be put in her place. But Keith refuses.
Tumblr media
Keith: Because it feels good to hold you in my arms.
It's embarrassing, but she's happy to spend time with him. Happy to decorate trees and happy to make up invitations.
(The preparations make me feel like I've gotten to know Keith in a deeper way than I ever have before.)
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
Gentle Keith. 👇
Keith's bedroom.
While talking to the prince, the heroine began to feel sick. Then her stomach rumbled.
MC apologized for the loud sound of her hungry stomach.
Tumblr media
Keith: Don't mind me. You're cute, even the sound of your stomach.
He's glad she's hungry.
The prince took her to the greenhouse.
The castle chef was preparing the menu for the party and left something for her to try.
Keith: I feel like I'm enjoying the party before anyone else.
Before the party he has something to give.

December 6th Drarry Drabble: "Candles"
Tumblr media
Tags: Godric's Hollow, Godric's Hollow Cemetery, Harry is sad and visiting his parents, Draco shows his empathy, I picture them both at 42 years of age; they're not exactly together, but there's potential (loads of it!), and a wee bit of angst, but mostly it's just Draco being a sweetheart, because yes, he totally can be one
Draco had never been to Godric’s Hollow. Still, he walked the quiet, snow-covered streets with a sense of purpose, letting his feet carry him to his destination. It helped him to remain calm. Lacy flakes drifted out of the night sky, slowly sailing to the ground. Snow threaded through the trees, frosting branches and bushes. The wind was cold, and taking his hands out of his coat pockets, Draco adjusted his collar, pulling it up and tightening it around his neck. Throughout the day, thick layers of white had accumulated on roofs, cars, and walkways, and Draco’s footprints made a path in the fresh snow as he strode towards the village’s cemetery. Draco passed discoloured pine needles and tufts of dead grass that poked up through the white. The moon was bright, sparkling off the snow in a glittering display.
A sudden gust of wind shifted the branches of a nearby tree, and snow cascaded down in a drift, nearly showering Draco with winter’s frosty blanket. Despite the cold, the air smelt fresh and crisp. It had a slightly metallic scent, and as Draco inhaled through his mouth, he noted a light ozone flavour. The soft weight of snow fell into Draco’s long, cornsilk hair, and he regretted leaving his hat behind. A powdery tickle of snow dusted his cheeks, eyebrows and lashes, and Draco found himself renewing the warming charm inside his coat pockets and shoes to stop his fingers and toes from going numb. The fresh snow made a squishing sound beneath Draco’s feet as he walked, getting closer to his destination.
Draco’s boots crunched through a crust of snow at the cemetery’s wrought iron fence. He reached for the gate, pulled it open, and stepped through. Once on the cemetery grounds, Draco felt the mood morph into something glummer. The peacefulness of the quiet, freezing winter night continued to envelop Draco, but it was now laced with heavy melancholy, which made breathing difficult.
The feeling permeated the air around Draco, and he forced himself to take several deep breaths to calm his frayed nerves. He still didn’t understand why Granger had insisted that it should be him who went to Godric’s Hollow to retrieve Potter, but nearly two and a half decades after Hogwarts, Draco still had the greatest respect for Granger (Draco refused to call it fear. That sounded weak).
Shaking the thought of Granger off, Draco glanced at the small chapel in the distance. Hundreds of candles flicked inside, illuminating the coloured window panes. Draco walked past a crooked marble headstone with a barely readable engraving, a family grave, several decorative flower beds, now covered with thick blankets of snow, and a grave with a bouquet of dried flowers and a Christmas wreath. He didn’t know who was buried there, but he still flicked his wand to breathe new life into the decorations.
An owl hooted several times, and the wind whistled through the gravestones and trees. Birds and small animals squeaked and chirped, and Draco’s boots crunched as he veered off the narrow path and passed several more graves. The metallic tang of stone clung to the air, and Draco abandoned breathing through his nose. He finally stopped Potter in front of a modest double grave. Potter sat in the thick snow, legs curled underneath him. He’d folded his gloved hands in his lap and was staring at his parents’ grave with a vacant expression in his eyes. A beautiful deep-green fir wreath rested against the Potter grave. White lilies were woven through the coniferous branches of the wreath, and several candles floated above the grave, their magical flames flickering in the frosty breeze.
For a moment, Draco didn’t know how to approach the situation. He felt like an intruder like he wasn’t meant to be here. Part of him wanted to escape, wanted to leave Potter to his grief, but something kept him rooted to the spot, and that was Potter turning his head and looking up at him.
“She sent you, didn’t she?” he asked, his voice thick. It pierced Draco’s heart, making it ache something fierce.
He nodded.
Potter huffed a hollow laugh. His breath formed clouds of white vapour that rose into the night sky and disappeared.
“Bothersome meddler.”
“If it helps, I tried getting out of it.”
“Clearly, my best friend had the better argument. Was it another slap?”
“Hilarious, Potter.”
“What? You can’t deny she made an impact that first time.”
“Will you let it rest already?”
“Never, Malfoy, it’s one of the few things that still make you squirm.”
Draco rolled his eyes.
“Yes, and I wish it wouldn’t. Can I join you?”
Potter lifted a brow, looking at him with a curious expression.
“You want to sit in the snow with me?”
Draco shrugged. Instead of answering the question, he sat beside Potter and drew his wand to cast a gentle bubble of warmth around them. Potter relaxed visibly, and Draco offered him a sheepish smile.
“Doesn’t get any easier, does it?” he asked.
Potter shook his head. He turned his head to stare at the headstone, and taking his chances, Draco leant forward and squeezed Potter’s hand to offer comfort.
“I miss them most just before Christmas,” Potter said without looking at him.
“I’d like to say that I can imagine what it feels like, but I can’t.”
Potter looked at him.
“Your father—” he began.
Draco shook his head.
“I’d like to say that he was a doting dad, but he wasn’t. Mother says he was smitten with me when I was a baby, but I don’t know whether it’s the truth or her version of events, something for her to cling to when she’s feeling lonely. I feel nothing when I visit his grave, just relief, but for my mother’s sake, I listen to the stories and smile. Anything for her.”
“You really love her, don’t you?”
Draco nodded.
“I do. She did what she could to make things better for me. Sure, she wasn’t perfect, but hey, none of us is, right?”
Potter inclined his head.
“My dad— Well, he was a bit of a dick at school, and mum gave him the cold shoulder for ages because of it. I think he changed his ways because he knew that mum would never get with him otherwise. I mean, my godfather was hardly the best influence. It was either that or Remus gave him a good bollocking at some point.”
Draco couldn’t help but laugh softly.
“I think you’d give anything for just one Christmas with them.”
“How’d—”
Draco waved the question off before Potter could finish asking it.
“I can’t give you a Christmas with your parents, but I have a warm flat and a bottle of well-aged Firewhiskey I’m willing to share if you want to tell me more about your parents?”
“I don’t know much about them,” Potter said after a beat.
Draco shrugged.
“We can also play Exploding Snap if you’d like me to take your mind off things.”
Potter’s laugh made Draco’s heart flutter in his chest.
“Exploding Snap?” he asked.
Draco nodded.
“I would prefer Wizarding Chess, but since I’ll just beat your sorry arse, I thought I’d suggest something more up your alley.”
Potter rolled his eyes.
“Very funny, Malfoy.”
“You laughed.”
“I did. A heck with it, let’s do it. If I stay any longer, I’ll get frostbite.”
“I could say something inappropriate now, but I’ll refrain.”
“By all means, Malfoy, knock yourself out.”
Draco shook his head.
“Nah, let me get some alcohol down your hatch first.”
“You know, perhaps it’s a bit out there, but we could also try first names….”
“Must I? Potter has a nice ring to it.”
“Harry isn’t bad either; you could try it, at least.”
Draco rolled his eyes.
“Fine, if you insist.”
Peeling himself off the ground, Draco stood up, stretched his legs, and offered Potter a helping hand.
“Harry?”
“Draco.”
They shared a knowing look, and then Draco wound his arm around Potter’s and apparated them away.

Christmas Wreath Crafting - How to make your own Festive Cheer
Tumblr media
Christmas Wreath creating not only adds a personal touch to your festive decorations but also provides a delightful opportunity to indulge in some creative holiday crafting. The Xmas holiday season is almost upon us, and so what better way to invite visitors than with a beautifully crafted Christmas wreath? In this step-by-step guide, we'll walk you through the process of making a stunning Christmas wreath that will illuminate your main entrance to the home. Gather your materials and let's get started on this fun task. Gather Your Materials Gather the Materials required to make your Christmas Wreath. There are a few essential materials. Collate items from your backyard or garden for a more nature-inspired wreath or alternatively visit your local craft stores. Here is a basic list to get you started: - Wreath base (wire or foam) - Floral wire - Fresh Greenery (pine branches, holly, fresh moss, eucalyptus, or Ivy) - Decorative elements (ornaments, pine cones, berries) - Ribbon or twine - Scissors or Secateurs - Hot glue gun and spare glue sticks Choose your Wreath Base When it comes to making your own Christmas wreath, choosing the right base is crucial in creating a stunning and unique design. Choose a size that suits your space and preferences. While traditional options like wire frames and grapevine bases are classic choices foam allows for easy insertion of greenery.  Consider thinking outside the box with more unconventional options. For a rustic and natural look, try using a branch or twig base for your wreath, adding an earthy touch to your holiday decorations. Don't limit yourself to conventional circular shapes - experiment with heart-shaped or square bases for an imaginative twist on the traditional wreath.  Don't forget that repurposing household items like embroidery hoops or hessian sheets can serve as innovative bases that bring creativity and sustainability into your wreath-making process. By exploring various base options and natural elements, you open up a world of possibilities for designing an original Christmas wreath that reflects your personality and style while spreading festive cheer throughout your home. Prep Your Greenery Prepping your greenery is crucial for ensuring your DIY Christmas wreath looks its best. First things first take great care with sharp secateurs and scissors when attaching the fresh moss (look out for the bugs) or greenery.  Prepare your greenery by trimming it into manageable lengths. Start by trimming any excess foliage from the branches and removing any dead or dis-colored leaves. This will help give the greenery a fresh and vibrant appearance while also making it easier to work with when assembling your Christmas wreath. Mix and match different types of greenery for texture, depth, and visual interest. Attach Greenery to the Base  Consider using wire or floral tape to secure the fresh moss (look out for the bugs) or greenery to your Christmas Wreath to create a sturdy base for adding additional decorative elements like berries or ornaments. Secure each piece firmly, overlapping them to create a lush and full appearance. Ensure that the greenery covers the entire base for a polished look. By sourcing greenery from nature or local suppliers, you can feel good about reducing the environmental impact often associated with mass-produced decorations.  As you embark on this creative journey, remember that experimenting with color combinations can elevate the visual appeal of your homemade wreath. By mixing vibrant red berries with lush evergreen sprigs can produce striking contrast and enhance the overall design. By playing around with different textures and tones, you can achieve a stunning result that speaks directly to your personal taste. Don't hesitate to infuse additional elements like dried flowers for extra flair—there are no limits when it comes to bringing out your creativity through crafting a beautiful door display. Add Decorative Elements  Enhance the festive feel of your Christmas wreath by incorporating decorative elements. Arrange ornaments, pinecones, and berries strategically throughout the greenery or dried oranges can bring vibrant pops of color and texture to your unique creation. Use a hot glue gun to secure them in place, ensuring they are evenly distributed. In addition to DIY wreaths, consider integrating other decorative pieces such as candy canes, colored baubles, upcycled candle holders, or hand-painted ornaments and mason jars. These small but impactful touches bring character and a festive touch into any room while fostering sustainability and creativity. Utilizing unexpected materials like peacock feathers, hessian, pom poms or cinnamon sticks, can add an eclectic twist that sets your finished product apart from traditional door decorations. By embracing the process of crafting custom decorative elements for your home, is the perfect way to create lasting memories with loved ones and holiday cheer. Create a Striking Bow  To create a truly striking bow for your beautiful wreath, the best way is to start by selecting a variety of ribbons in different colors and textures. Mix and match different widths to add depth and visual interest to your design. Don't be afraid to experiment with patterns and prints, not just a traditional red ribbon - the more unexpected, the better! A plaid ribbon is always a popular choice.  When assembling your bow, remember that proportions matter. A large Christmas wreath calls for a bold, oversized bow, while smaller wreaths benefit from dainty details. Play around with layering ribbons and twisting them to create dimension. And don't forget the finishing touches - trim the ends of your ribbons into elegant V-shapes or playful loops for an extra polished look. Secure the Bow and Final Touches  Securing the bow is a crucial step in making your own Christmas wreath. When tying the bow, make sure to secure it tightly and double-knot it to ensure it stays in place. The choice of ribbon also plays a significant role in creating an eye-catching look for your wreath. Choose a traditional look or festive pattern or color that complements the overall theme of your decoration. Attach the bow to the wreath using floral wire, making sure it sits prominently at the top or bottom, depending on your personal preference and skill level. Inspect your wreath for any gaps or uneven areas, adding extra greenery or decorations to the wreath design as needed. Final touches are what make your DIY wreath from ordinary to extraordinary. Festive Christmas Wreath Decorations and Creative Ideas for Every Season
As the holiday season approaches, one of the most iconic and beloved traditions is adorning our homes with festive decorations. Christmas wreaths are a timeless symbol of this celebration, and they add a touch of warmth and joy to any space. In this blog, we'll explore the art of Christmas wreath decorations, share some creative Christmas wreath ideas, and even touch on the concept of summer door wreaths to keep your home looking inviting year-round.
Part 1: Christmas Wreath Decorations
The beauty of Christmas wreaths lies in their versatility. They come in various shapes, sizes, and materials, allowing you to customize them to your liking. Here are some classic Christmas wreath decorations to consider:
Traditional Evergreen Wreath: The classic choice, made from fresh or artificial evergreen branches, often adorned with pinecones, red berries, and a festive bow. It exudes the timeless charm of Christmas.
Rustic Wreath: Create a cozy, rustic feel by incorporating natural elements like twigs, burlap, and dried fruits. This style is perfect for a country or farmhouse-themed Christmas.
Glamorous Wreath: For a touch of elegance, opt for a wreath made with shiny ornaments, metallic ribbons, and glittering accents. It's a show-stopper for any front door.
DIY Wreaths: Unleash your creativity by making your own wreath. Gather materials like ornaments, ribbons, and even old holiday cards to craft a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Personalized Wreaths: Monogram or custom wreaths add a personal touch to your décor. Incorporate your family name or initials to make your wreath truly unique.
Part 2: Christmas Wreath Ideas
Now, let's explore some creative Christmas wreath ideas that go beyond the traditional. These suggestions can add a fresh twist to your holiday decorations:
Themed Wreaths: Instead of a generic wreath, create one that follows a theme, such as a winter wonderland, Santa's workshop, or a candy cane lane.
Ornament Wreath: Decorate your wreath with a plethora of colorful ornaments, making it a vibrant and eye-catching focal point.
Scented Wreath: Incorporate fragrant elements like cinnamon sticks, dried oranges, and cloves to fill your home with a warm, inviting aroma.
Edible Wreath: Craft a wreath with edible goodies like candy canes, gingerbread cookies, or chocolate ornaments. It's a treat for the senses.
Minimalist Wreath: Embrace simplicity by using only a few elements, such as eucalyptus branches, white ribbons, and subtle lighting.
Part 3: Summer Door Wreaths
While Christmas wreaths are seasonal, the idea of decorating your door with wreaths doesn't have to be limited to the holidays. Summer door wreaths can bring the beauty of the season to your home year-round:
Floral Wreaths: Choose vibrant, summery flowers like sunflowers, daisies, or peonies for a welcoming and cheerful entry.
Seashell Wreaths: For a coastal vibe, create a wreath adorned with seashells, beach glass, and driftwood.
Herb Wreaths: Combine aromatic herbs like lavender, rosemary, and thyme to make a fragrant and visually appealing summer wreath.
Succulent Wreaths: These low-maintenance, drought-resistant plants can create a modern and trendy door decoration.
Nautical Wreaths: Celebrate the sea with a nautical-themed wreath featuring anchors, ropes, and seafaring elements.
Conclusion
Christmas wreath decorations hold a special place in our hearts during the holiday season, but with a dash of creativity, wreaths can become a delightful part of your home decor year-round. Whether you're crafting traditional Christmas wreaths or exploring unique ideas for any season, these festive decorations have the power to welcome guests and make your home feel warm and inviting. Christmas wreath 2/6

Rotting Pumpkins
TW: Graphic descriptions of rot
~~~~~~
Have you ever smelled rotting pumpkins? Its not very pleasant. Its not earthy, or plant-like. There's a hint of sweetness, but it mixes so horribly with the others it makes the whole thing even worse. Its a scent you don't smell very often, because most people don't let it get to that point. Sure, if you carve one into a jack-o-lanterns, you'll toss it as it decomposes, but almost no one lets it get too bad. When its starts to cave in, that's the end of the line.
I work at a grocery store. Not too big, and not to far from where I live, perfect for me. I work in the bottle room, an even smaller area near the front. I bring all this up because of one other section of the store: Floral. Floral is responsible for setting up displays outside of the store, usually right outside of the bottle room. It's always themed around the season, or whatever holiday is coming up. Flowers and plants of various kinds in the spring and summer, Christmas wreaths and trees in the winter, and pumpkins for autumn. You might be able to see where this is going.
Whenever autumn rolls around, the front of the store is decorated with pumpkins and gourds of various kinds. There were also plants in pots, but they always looked wilted to me. Some of the pumpkins were in big cardboard boxes, some were put on stepped metal displays, but most were just thrown in piles against the store walls. Never understood why they'd just pile it, always made my job harder when I had to move bottle bins around them.
Sometimes, someone from floral would come out and water the plants. Oddly, they'd also water the pumpkins. I thought that was odd, not like they could keep growing anymore. combined with the fluctuating weather we've been having lately, I was concerned about how fast the pumpkins could rot this year.
I bring this all up because some things happened a week ago. It started when one day, someone inside the store had decided to move the pumpkins on the right side of the store to the left. I'm not sure when it happened, but they did it pretty damn fast, cause one hour they were on one side, next the other. They were piled up against the wall, so many you couldn't see the ground or the wall behind it. Only one pumpkin remained, looking out of place against the red brick behind it. I wasn't sure why it was left behind, but learned why quickly when I grabbed it, ripping the thing in half.
The stench was awful. The wind made it worse, billowing around me and attacking my nose from all sides. I had to get gloves and a trash bag, scooping the mess by hand. It was like trying to handle slime, slipping through my fingers and splatting back onto the ground. Some was more solid, tearing from the goo in meaty strands. Even with the gloves, I squirmed uncomfortably. The worst thing about it, though, was how warm it was. the day was dreary and sad, the night cold, but it was like the rotting flesh of the gourd had been sitting in the sun all day.
The second thing to happen, I didn't notice immediately. The day was hot, and floral had just finished watering the pumpkins again. Over the course of the day, most of the liquid dried. However, one trickle continued to persist, which I did slowly notice. It grew longer and longer, like a single crooked finger growing from the pile of orange. The smell began to grow stronger too, the tip of the liquid finger turning a sickly orange-cream color. I let the managers know I thought another pumpkin was rotting, and they said they'd take care of it, but I wasn't too sure. I wasn't gonna dive in there myself to find it, and after what happened the next day, I'm glad I didn't.
I had the next day off, so I wasn't there when it happened. When I came in next, the pumpkins were gone, the entire area clear of any sort of seasonal items. The air was really somber inside the store, and when I asked, I was pulled into a side room and quietly told.
A skeleton had been found buried under the pumpkins.
I didn't hear anything else about the situation for the rest of the day. From what I was told, someone was digging through the pile for the perfect specimen when they found it. It was pressed against the wall, the pumpkins around them rotted to the point of turning to mush. A bony hand stuck out from the glob of rotten plant matter, like it was reaching. The bones were covered in a thick layer of the stuff, and some parts were described as 'stringy' when the skeleton was lifted from the mass. Like sinews of orange muscle, trying to drag it back down. Inner parts sloughed off in clumps, seeds dangling from tiny threads. The mush took some of the bones with it, ripping ribs from the chest and popping off an arm. A coworker who was getting carts and saw it told me it looked like the rot 'didn't want to let go'.
Cops were called, as the bones weren't plastic, but we don't have much hope of finding out what happened. The current rumor I heard was some college folks stealing a skeleton from a morgue to pull some kinda prank, which would be the more comfortable explanation. Something out of a horror movie, but still a grounded reason. However, I don't really believe that. Someone would've noticed, they had to. How do you move so many pumpkins without someone noticing? How do you get that much rotten matter in the same place without someone realizing?
Either way, I'm just glad the pumpkins are gone.
