#Repost @htownbeerguys Today we had an amazing #brunch experience at @theupsidepub - located in the Garden Oaks neighborhood of Houston. The pub exudes friendly vibes - we didn't feel like anyone was a stranger, whether employee or customer. The beer list is very local favorites heavy - @greatheightsbrewing @eurekaheights @equalpartsbrewing @brashbrewing and more. They also have a full bar and a wine list. Here we're enjoying You've Got a lot of Nerve Belgian Single from @hollerbeer and a coffee martini with @williampricedistilling coffee liqueur. Yum! For food we had a breakfast burrito, pancake puppies and a hangover burger. It was all phenomenal. We put our stories from our visit in a highlight if you want to see more! Throwback to two years ago when Anchor switched from glass bottles to cans. Had to commemorate this bc those bottles were unlike any others; they had a unique feel and weight that I just liked for some reason. Now, when I hear that, after 127 years @anchorbrewing will be closing their doors, I had to go and find those pics. Soundcheck 3.0 is an experimental IPA series that used Strata, Triumph and Citra hops. 3.0 is opaque straw color with medium carbonation - citrus pith, grapefruit and pine notes dominate. A more aggressive ’West Coast’ style hop flavor with an NEIPA appearance. IPAs between the coasts.

The Northeast and California may both have their signature styles, but they don’t have a monopoly on craft beer. The midwest may be the home of PBR and Miller, but it’s a nest for indie brewers as well.

A free afternoon in Columbus, Ohio, let me sample just two of the midwestern city’s breweries (leaving several out, sadly). The first was North High Brewing, which is located in a beautifully renovated early 20th century Ford dealership building. It’s a lovely place to sit, with all sorts of local antiques and memorabilia decorating the walls.

The tap list is surprisingly wide, covering hop lovers with lots of IPAs and pale ales, a generous handful of malty amber and wheat beers, and even a couple of shandies thrown in for good measure (this is a college town, after all). Fly, a hazy pale ale, stands out as a winner, and adventurous palates might enjoy sampling the sweet Tree Tapper, made with Ohio maple syrup, and the Wayne Grodzkiskie, a smoked wheat ale with a distinctive flavor.

The next destination was Seventh Son Brewing, which has ample space for entertaining both inside and out. The spacious and sunlit taproom serves up a roster of beers that are also primarily hoppy styles at the core, rounded out with a few others like the Blue Jay Way porter and Kitty Paw, their very own hard seltzer. I had the pleasure of trying their Capra Nova, a fresh-hopped IPA that’s memorably delicious and makes you sort of feel like you’re drinking pure nature. The Rime Winter IPA is also a tasty and rich choice that’s seasonal without bashing you over the head with it.

Had a challenging evening dealing with the shortcuts the previous homeowner took and a hardware manufacturer who clearly designed in CAD without a real world test. I've been waiting for a good reason to crack this bottle and I haven't watched this series since Nicolette Village Video was the best source for ADV's complete VHS catalog.
