On n'a vraiment pas l'impression d'avoir un alcool à 40°. Sur des arômes de pruneaux, épices (poivre en grains, coriandre), caramel. Une longueur en bouche interminable pour notre plus grand plaisir. Une magnifique finale sur les amandes torréfiées. 🌡️: 40° 📜 En résumé📜: Pour l'anecdote, pour un Armagnac Extra Old (XO), la loi exige un vieillissement minimal de 6 ans. Chez Clos Martin, notre Armagnac XO vieillit dans des fûts de chêne pendant au moins 15 ans avant d’être assemblé. Très sympa en dégustation avec un bon cigare. Insanity

I wrote this when I first got sober. I needed something to remind myself how bad it was, to remind myself I never have to feel that way again.

I wake up like I always do; anxiety through the roof, hands sweaty and shaky, stomach upset. The room is dark. I fumble to find what is left of the alcohol I hadn't finished the night before. As I crack the lid, I dry heave as the smell of cheap vodka hits my nose. Hands trembling I set the bottle back down. I pace back and forth in effort to calm my stomach. I reach for the bottle trying to steady my hands enough to pour the contents into the shot glass on the table in front of me.I manage to fill the glass without spilling any. I pick up the small cup and begin to raise it toward my mouth. My hands are now shaking more violently, sloshing the liquid from side to side spilling it down the sides of the cup onto my clammy trembling hands. My stomach again begins to churn, I set it back down. I look up and catch my face in the mirror. I'm gray, void of all color, eyes glossy and red. "Breathe," I mouth to myself. " You can do it." I reach down to grab the shot glass once more, This time bringing it to my mouth as quickly as I could, throwing the contents to the back of my throat and swallowing hard. "Uh oh, this is not going to go well." I gag. Once...Twice...fighting hard to keep the shot from coming back up. I lower myself to set on the edge of the bed, place my hands on my knees, staring into the nothingness. Knowing I needed to repeat this process three or more times before my hands would stop shaking, I raise myself up in slow motion, stiff and rigid. Keeping my glare fixed into the nothingness, not blinking, I reach for the bottle again; same motions, same result as with the first one. I choke it down. I look to left and catch a glimpse if the red alarm clock lights glowing bright in the dark room. 3:30 am. I had only been asleep a few hours. Or passed out rather. Withdrawal was in full effect and it was coming on strong already. Third shot down. I take a deep breath in attempt to calm my own nerves, in anticipation of the alcohol taking over. Minutes later, I notice I hadn't had a single thought run through my mind, I hadn't moved. But my hands were beginning to steady. This is insane. This cannot be normal. Unfortunately, it was normal for me. This happened every day. I forced alcohol into my body. My body attempting to reject it but drinking my cheap vodka took away the withdrawals, the mental anguish, The suffering, It made me numb. Insanity.
