Drip Painting 6 by Warren Woodhouse (Artwork)

Original hand-painted drip painting on an A3 plain paper and made during an unaccredited art class. We were looking at Jackson Pollock drip paintings in class at the start of the session on the 10th October 2018 and we had to create drip paintings inspired by Pollock in the style of Abstract during a class genre called Seasonal Themes. So we all created our own individual drip paintings using sticks, leaves, acrylic paints and PVA glue. This painting by me is based on the Autumn Season and the changes in the colours of the leaves.

VITRUAL SKETCHBOOK 4

For this assignment I chose to do an abstract painting of splatter paint. A lot of Jackson Pollock's art is this kind of abstract work, and when I did research on him, I thought this type of stuff looked really cool. Pollock did a lot of paintings through his years from abstract imagery to his famous drip paintings. Pollock studied painting with Thomas Hart Benton. The reason for Pollock to study with Thomas Hart Benton and using abstract imagery in his paintings to detach himself from imagery in his drip paintings because I think he wanted to show people what he can really do and express his personality through his art. He wanted to show off his feelings through abstract personalities. I think that Pollock used this type of art to express himself in different ways than most art forms do. Many people interpret his paintings differently, but I see frustration and trapped in his paintings, which could possibly mean he did not have the best life. Every artwork is different, which makes Pollock's unique.
