Salros, a warlock tiefling with starry motifs all over, as a commission for @/stillplayinghouse!

This picture has taken me months to get done but I think I'm really pleased with the result, despite how challenging it was! Salros is just a perfect match for my usual aesthetics  I got to designs some new bits for the character, such as the coat and the book, which I did have a lot of fun with! Also, Salros has some drow blood in him, which means it also counts for day 2 of drowcember (Arcane)

Drowcember themes - 2022

Hello! This may be unexpected, but Drowcember is officially coming back this year, with a brand new list! This is your drow / dark elf specific event, where the idea is to create all sorts of art related to them and their culture. 

We tried to keep it setting agnostic, meaning the topics have been kept vague enough to work with homebrew settings that may be vastly different from established canon. We will be checking the drowcember tag and reblogging any dark elf related art we can find in there.

Feel free to follow the list, or check the lists for the other years (which are available in here), or do your own. You don’t need to draw them all either, draw at your own pace! Make the pictures as simple or as elaborate as you’d like, the idea is to have fun with it. 

(As a side-note: The original creators of this event and blog, kavos-plz and aiffe, are no longer active on tumblr. I ( @leidensygdom​ ) asked them for permission to run the event this year, and I’ll be handling the account. I’m really excited to bring this back!)

Drowcember Day 13 : Flora/Botany!

I can’t believe I didn’t post this to Tumblr but originally I made this as a reference piece for my players when I sent them on an underdark mushroom hunt. But while I’m recovering, I figure it’s perfectly suited for today.

Feel free to use this as a reference or a handout in your own games! The only mushroom here that I entirely made up is the Pale Mother’s Cap. The Tiger’s Blood and Moonchild came from a third party “Rise of the Drow” book my partner got me, and the others all occur in the Forgotten Realms somewhere. I was really surprised how hard it was to find references for most of them, especially clear and in color ones, so I took a few liberties!

Left is her outfit during Tomb of Annihilation. Yes she wore that in Chult and throughout the jungle, no it was not a good experience for her, she’s learned from her mistakes in her Return to the Tomb outfit (right).

I hope she fares a bit better than she did last time….

Watchers -undead creatures of crystal- are often a tad too chaotic to adapt to humanoid constraints. In an attempt to fix this, artificial bodies have been designed for them. These mannequins of sorts are possessed by watchers, and used for a plethora of means. When crammed into a full armor, not many can tell them apart from living beings, which makes them handy for the furthering of certain plots.

Hi! Today I bring some concept art and sketches for Gharmyra! The first one is one of these armored mannequins, donning a mask. The party found out some worrying truths about it- Such as the fact it was someone unwillingly made into an undead, and forced to serve its enemies. The other two are different explorations on what could these mannequins look like under the armor. Which approach do you like best?

Also, these are all drow creations, so I'm absolutely counting them for drowcember. Undead drow put into mannequins are still drow-- (as always, reblogs are much appreciated!)

This is totes prefect timing with #drowcember going on and that my brain worms have focus on these two ladies lately.

Zula wasn’t always the gentle druid, she had to survive hell in her earlier years when she was unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time and found herself a slave to Lynestra Von Drex. Unlike what others endured… she day after day was Lynestra’s training partner and this went on for a while until things happened.
