one of my favorite under looked dynamics in fairy tail is between gajeel and jet & droy because these 3 are levy's biggest fans. they love and support everything she does but the funniest part is how hard gajeel probably had to fight jet and droy to get into the levy fanclub. it's not that he needs their approval to love levy per say it's more so that they're gatekeepers. they're the type of guys who'll say stuff like, "you like levy? name her top 10 greatest moments," and before gajeel develops feelings for her he's just kind of annoyed by them. he's trying to do this whole redemption arc thing and they're in his way but after tenrou he just starts playing into it because he gets them now.

"when she gets really into a book and her eyebrows start to furrow. that's pretty good." once gajevy start dating though, jet and droy have enough respect for both of them to stop with the romance. they're heartbroken but they'll get over it, friendship is more important. they're still levy's number 1 and 2 fans though, gajeel can pry that spot out of their cold dead hands.

sometimes people forget that gajeel is also friends with jet and droy, they'll ask, "hey, gajeel what did you do over the weekend?"

"I was fishing with jet and droy."

"what? why?"

"we go fishing every month. it's tradition."

gajeel will literally never say it but he appreciates their friendship. it's a symbol of how far he's come that jet and droy are able to forgive him when originally they were pretty cold to him

levy is ambidextrous but usually writes with her left hand and is the reason why there is ink on her hands a lot

jet holds grudges for the longest fucking time - don't make him upset enough for one to fester

there are so many silly things bix says that are vocal stims that laxus has just assumed came from bix's brain and not any pop culture shit bix likes

laxus has no pop culture knowledge - he needs to be educated

juvia has no sense of direction please do not ask her how to get to a place (she learned how to travel from gajeel who also is directionally challenged)

levy wears contacts and when gajeel found out he thought she was removing her eyeballs from her head

levy also is big tshirt gang and hates wearing pants

also tsg have references to media they havent seen but another member has seen which has resulted in conversations like "wait droy you've never seen clone high?? but you quote it all the time with jet" "yeah because its a silly, duh"

gray will purposely tell natsu false things (like what milf stands for isnt mothers i love to fuck) to see how far he can get away with telling him things and what he'll believe

The dragon slayers are Audhd, but show it on different levels, they also have dyslexia, like the half-bloods from Percy Jackson

LOL yes yes, here let me give you some brain tissue samples—

To be honest, I don't have much on Shadow Gear in my gray matter? Most of my thoughts on them comes from you or @/grayseyebrowscar, actually! But I have a couple things rattling around in my head, so here they are:

— Levy is feral when it comes to things that interest her, to the point that Jet and Droy have frequently had to restrain her from putting some poor soul into a centrifuge and seeing what filters out just because they wield a rare form of Jutsu-shiki or something like that. If it's weird and magic, or weird and of academic interest, or both, there will be a Levy trying to pounce on it, and a Jet and Droy going "no, don't pounce on that, what if it explodes." Jet and Droy frequently exchange commiserating grimaces with Evergreen and Bickslow when they have to wrangle Levy and Freed on the same hyperfocused rampage.

— I agree that SG are floor people, but to me Jet is also a what-the-heck-are-you-sitting-on-with-that-posture kind of person. If he fits, he sits. This means he sits on the floor, on armrests, on couch backs, on people if they're particularly unfortunate during a guild brawl, in the air of a doorframe, on refrigerators, on the guild hall's entrance sign, in the guild hall's rafters somehow, on the railing of the second floor—and even in normal chairs he sits sideways or spins them around to sit backwards or sprawls or does anything except sit normally. Droy frequently makes comments about the state of his spine because of this.

— I'm also wholly convinced that Jet has some beastman ancestry that influences his bone structure and teeth, and also maybe his eyes because I find it immensely funny to think of a dark guild mage getting scared half to death by shining a light on him and finding a red-pupiled blur (demon??) coming for their soul at speed.

— Droy seems the most normal of SG, but that's because Jet and Levy are subjected to his plant infodumps the most and he gets a lot of his gushing out of the way by the time he has to interact with the rest of the guild. A full half of SG's missions are plant-related because of him, either finding rare plants, or helping annual harvests of magical plants, or getting/safeguarding inconvenient ingredients for pharmaceuticals, or playing security for botanist conferences because he wants to hear some of the sweet, sweet botany discoveries. That, and some of the lectures in those botanist conferences are by him. He has a very robust greenhouse full of weird plants and occasionally Levy will edit his rambling about them into research papers and release them into the wilderness of academia for kicks. Neither of them were at all expecting scientists to track them down and scratch pitifully at their door like cats wailing to be let in. And now Droy gets to ramble annually around like-minded nerds and occasionally get into hair-pulling biting catfights about how to class amaryllis zephyrus, coloquially known as zephyrillis or wind-lily.

— Speaking of scientists tracking them down! SG definitely are roommates with their own house. I feel like they've known each other for a long, long time, before they ever joined Fairy Tail, and they're really comfortable around each other. Their smoothness in combat is borne from knowing each other since early childhood, growing up learning each other as much as they learned about themselves. This means they all have the eerie tendency to never bump into each other, in combat or not. It's easy to get in Jet's way if you're not used to how suddenly fast he can be, or accidentally bulldoze over Droy if he stays still too long and you forget he's there, or incidentally get smacked by a gesturing, excited Levy, but that's for other people. Not for them.

random hcs of mine bc i dont wanna make separate posts (but if asked to further on the subject will make whole posts about it):

levy and freed both know how to read several dead languages but can't speak most of them

jet loves the muppets (take my muppet hcs out of my dead cold hands i dare you) and is often teased by levy and droy about how he does look like a muppet

droy knows how to cook very well, but almost all his recepies are vegetarian, since he is vegetarian. he once had some herb planters to use while cooking in their kitchen but jet overwatered them once while droy was on a solo job

bixlow refuses to eat oranges because he once ate it like an apple, it horrifies ever to even remember he ate it like that

bixlow is like a stray dog, once you befriend them, he aint leavin

freed and lucy knew each other while they were kids but moreso just knowing their names and who they were. they were almost arrange marriaged to each other but freed left home before that could happen

evergreen believes in bigfoot and is teased for believing by bix while bix has several stickers and shirts talking about how much he loves mothmans ass

erza is the only member of team natsu to have a drivers license - natsu cannot even ride in a vehicle, gray never bothered to get one since he can take a train, and lucy is too scared to drive but not too scared to ride a horse

gray, cana, and loke would go on jobs together but never officially registered as a team

loke and gray were roommates and loke definitely didn't pay a couple months of rent when he was about to die

all of the dragonslayers who got shove through the gate had dialects that showed how old they really are - people just thought they talked that way since they were raised by dragons

natsu and gajeel were both from different countries than fiore while the other three were all from fiore

sting got that scar on his face from accidentally scratching himself
