I Get a Sugar Rush Whenever I'm With You - Chapter 7.4

Happy Sunday fellow Drukkari stans, or whatever day it is for you! Took me a bit longer because I was considering splitting this up into two mini-chapters, but instead, you get a slightly longer installment this week! If you need to catch up, all previous installments can be found on my Table of Contents, here. I'm also on AO3, though you'll need an account to read there. The other Eternals--I mean, competitors are starting to take note of Druig and Makkari's friendship, but what does this mean for them? After the technical, it was Druig’s turn to be stunned into a trance-like state. He’d never expected it, especially since he’d never even made profiteroles before. In fact, given how the previous weeks had gone, he never expected to win any technical challenge. Yet somehow, he had. Seeing how shocked he was, Darcy had wasted no time and immediately asked Makkari to conduct his interview. While the surprise had worn off by dinnertime, he was still very much in a state of disbelief.

“Is he always like this after a technical?” Phastos whispered.

“Well, he’s usually moping because he did poorly, so this is new,” Sersi explained.

“Y’know I’m right here,” Druig deadpanned.

“Congratulations, Druig,” Gil said with a smile, prompting the rest of the group to chime in with assenting statements.

“Thanks, I really don’t know how it happened,” Druig replied.

Well, anything’s possible in the tent, Makkari said.

“You’re one to talk, Ms. Handshake,” Sprite interjected.

I don’t know how that happened either! she responded, still in disbelief herself.

“Well, since we’re all together, maybe your good luck will rub off on the rest of us,” Sersi teased.

“Guess I came on a good night,” Phastos joked.

“Guess I’ll be going, then,” Druig retorted, starting to rise from his chair. Amidst the protests and some laughter, Makkari raised her eyebrows at him, and he immediately sat back down. Her smile returned as he signed just to her, Just kidding.

You two are gross, Sprite signed at them. Makkari stuck her tongue out at the sour teen as Sersi interpreted for Gil and Phastos.

“That’s not very nice, Sprite,” Gil scolded, though his tone was still light.

“Well, I’m not a particularly nice person, Gil,” Sprite quipped.

“On that, we agree,” Phastos muttered, earning a glare from the redhead and a chuckle from Druig. “Nothing personal. I think most teenagers are unpleasant.”

“Aren’t you so excited for Jack to become one? He’s only a few years away, you know.”

“Oh, don’t remind me,” Phastos said with a sigh. “I scored a few points with Jack by getting into Bake Off, but as soon as he turns thirteen, it’ll all be worthless.”

So, you joined a televised baking competition because you wanted to impress your ten-year-old son? Makkari asked, an amused glint in her eyes.

“No, I also joined for me,” he replied, sounding very noncommittal before he added, “and I bake for my son and my husband all the time anyway, so this is really just practice for them.”

“I’m sure Arishem would be thrilled to hear that he’s a taste tester for your family,” Druig interjected with a smirk.

“Does he even know about these dinners?” Phastos asked.

“I don’t think so,” Sersi answered. “Pretty sure the only person on the crew who knows is Kingo. I don’t know if he told anyone else.”

If he knows what’s good for him, he won’t, Makkari signed emphatically, though a smile was tugging at her lips.

“So, what else do you usually talk about at these dinners?” Phastos asked.

“We usually weigh in on each other’s love lives,” Gil explained, “but you’re already spoken for, so…”

I still want to know about Phastos’ love life! Makkari declared enthusiastically. How’d you two meet?

Everyone listened intently (except for Sprite) as Phastos reminisced about meeting Ben through a mutual friend, how Phastos had taken a while to open up to him, how they’d gotten married, and how they eventually decided to adopt Jack. He was understandably terse at first, as he wasn’t used to being the center of attention in their group, but he loosened up the longer he talked. Makkari, in particular, hung on every word as Druig interpreted for her, reacting in real time to every little detail and spurring Phastos on with more questions. Before they knew it, it was quite late.

As the group said goodnight and departed Sersi’s room, Druig looked back to see Makkari had stayed inside. He raised his eyebrows in a silent question. In response, she simply shrugged and looked at Sersi.

Update tomorrow? he asked. He caught a glimpse of the mischievous glint in her eye as she nodded and smiled. Sersi had caught the tail end of this exchange, but she merely smiled slyly at him as she bid him goodnight and shut the door. Druig was left standing in the empty hallway. At least, he thought it was empty.

“Well, I heard Kingo freaking out about you two being psychically linked, but I didn’t actually believe him until now,” Sprite said. Druig didn’t physically jump, but he was pretty sure his stomach had done a flip. He calmly turned to face the teen to respond, but she spoke again first. “I’ve heard of couples melding into the same person over time, but six weeks must be some sort of record.”

“We’re hardly the same person. And besides, Makkari and I are just friends,” he said. His voice was steady, but his heart was pounding. Sprite scoffed before he’d even finished his sentence.

“I don’t buy that for a second, and neither does anyone else in this competition.”

And with that, Sprite walked briskly back to her room, leaving Druig in a state of mild panic.

Considering the state he was in, Druig had done pretty well in the showstopper. He’d tossed and turned quite a bit the night before, causing him to oversleep and nearly miss the shuttle. Luckily, he’d made it just in time. Makkari had teased him for being even later than Sersi, but when he asked her about the events of the previous evening, she suddenly became rather tight-lipped.

I think Sersi wants to tell you herself, was all she would say. It’d been a while since Makkari had held anything back from him. Druig found he didn’t enjoy the sensation.

When competition time rolled around, he pushed all of these feelings to the back of his mind. It was more of a necessity than a conscious decision. He threw himself into his mixed berry tarts, which turned out quite nice. He didn’t think he’d be in line for Star Baker (Sersi’s tarts were immaculate), but he was proud of his work that week. As soon as they were finished and awaiting the results, however, the feelings all came rushing back. Makkari seemed to have forgotten about filling him in, having plopped herself next to Sprite. The writing was on the wall for the teen, and she knew it, but Makkari managed to get a small smile out of the girl. Then, to Druig’s surprise, someone else dropped into the seat next to him.

“I assume Makkari’s already told you and me and Dane,” Sersi said.

“She has,” he replied slowly, trying to suss out what the brunette was going to say.

“And I suppose I have you to thank for that,” she continued, a gentle smile settling on her face. Druig felt his brow furrow in confusion.

“How’s that?” he asked. “Makkari was the one to reach out to him, not me.”

“Yes, but she said you convinced her to do it, so I owe both of you a drink,” Sersi explained. Druig looked at her for a moment, still trying to figure out if he was missing something. There was something sly about her expression, like the look she gave him when she closed the door on him the night before. It almost reminded him of the glint in Makkari’s eyes, but more subdued.

“Well, if you insist,” he finally answered. “So, is that what you two were talking about last night?”

“It was. Sorry for leaving you out, but I didn’t know you’d helped.”

“It’s fine,” he uttered with a shrug.

“Thank you. I mean it,” she said, growing earnest. “The three of us can figure out a time to go out for drinks later.”

And with that, Sersi went to join the other two women.

As he suspected, Sersi was named Star Baker for the week. Sprite had baked her last in the tent, but she put on her usual face and made plenty of quips about no longer having to hang out with a bunch of old people. She didn’t crack, even when Gil gave her a big bear hug, which turned into another group hug when the rest of them joined in.

On the train ride back, Druig couldn’t keep it in any longer.

Sersi’s up to something, he blurted out.

What makes you say that? Makkari asked. Because of the drinks thing?

Yeah, something feels off about it.

Like what? Inviting someone for a drink as a thank you seems pretty normal to me.

Druig thought for a moment. I can’t put my finger on it. It’s not so much what she said but the way she said it. Like she knew something I didn’t.

Well, if she’s hiding something, maybe we’ll find out what it is when we get drinks with her.

Good point. I can’t go this week, though. Doing inventory at the shop.

Damn. Guess drinks will have to wait an extra week.

Druig nodded. Whatever it is, we’ll get to the bottom of it.

That we will, Dr. Watson.

Question for you!😁 Which Yandere marvel characters do you think would want/make their darling age regress? Because I see a lot of Yanderes who would want them to depend on them but which characters (even if it varies from era to era) would take it a step further. Even just to treat their darling like a teenager, I think a lot of them would and I’m curious who all you think would most likely? I love your writing and I hope you have a great day!

It's funny you should mention this, because I was recently imagining a situation where a lot of Marvel heroes (and maybe non-heroes) have a get-together and bring their age-regressed, abducted darlings. Like a party of the forced agere yanderes.

(This is outside the canon of "Safe Because I'm With the Apex Predator.")

Druig and Makkari's darling is by far the best-behaved; everyone compliments them on how well-behaved their darling is. Dressed in brightly-colored overalls and knee socks, their hair is neat (which can't be said for a lot of the darlings; they get unkempt when they physically struggle), they greet the other yanderes with a smile when asked, and they say "Yes, Daddy," and "Yes, Mommy," and the like, every time they speak to Druig and Makkari. They don't use any words that a seven-year-old couldn't.

It's clear from the look in the darling's eyes that they haven't caved under the mental stress of their abduction; there's still an awareness there. Occasionally even hostility. But they behave themself, because if they didn't do so by choice, Druig would just make them anyway. So many of the yanderes are lowkey jealous, not just of this darling's good behavior, but of the general vibe of mutual understanding that exists between them and Drukkari. When all the other darlings are going to a "play room", so the "grown ups" can talk in private, this darling calmly asks, "Mommy, can I bring my food with me?"

Makkari answers, "Yes," and kisses them on the forehead before they go.

Meanwhile, Thena and Gilgamesh's darling is absolutely feral. (Or, as one of the other yanderes politely says, "very rambunctious!") Darling's on a leash, and Darling's trying to chew through the leash. They're dressed in a form-fitting toddler onesie and mittens that make it hard to hold anything. They aren't trusted to feed themself, so Gilgamesh feeds them while Thena leads them around on the leash. When Gilgamesh greets people amicably, and Thena greets people with her aloof smile, their darling glares at whoever they're directed to greet and mumbles a grudging "hello".

None of them are embarrassed about this. Thena is amused and enjoys the friction, and Gilgamesh is chill. Looking at all the other captives, darling demands, "How come they're not on a leash?"

Gilgamesh chuckles, "Because you're still biting yours."

Repeatedly, this darling tries to run for it, and Thena nonchalantly reels them back with a firm tug, not even pausing her conversation with the other guests.

Sam and Bucky's darling is shyly clinging to Sam's side. They don't have to say hi to anyone, because Sam and Bucky both enjoy the fact that they don't want to. "They're shy," Bucky says, and Sam pats their head fondly. They're dressed like a very fashionable five-year-old: everything matches, and they have very snazzy tennis shoes. Bucky and Sam are asked where they bought that shirt, those shorts, that cloth cap.

While darling doesn't talk to or look at the other yanderes, they're fascinated with the other darlings. They're kind of scared of the struggling ones, but their eyes are drawn to something brightly colored: Druig and Makkari's darling. Pretty...And they look friendly... Darling accidentally makes eye contact with Druig, who raises an unimpressed (almost challenging) eyebrow, and they quickly look away. When Sam and Bucky eventually run into Druig and Makkari and start making small talk, darling keeps their face buried in Sam's shoulder, so that only one eye can see the colorful darling who's now staring right back at them, curiously.

"Hi," Drukkari's darling says. They're allowed to carry their own plate!

Sambucky's darling waves hello but does not leave the safety of Sam's side.

The Guardians of the Galaxy were not invited to the party, but they showed up anyway. Their darling is as rough-edged as you'd expect from someone who has to trade barbs with Rocket Raccoon on the daily. They're dressed in an outfit composed of articles that have each been scavenged separately. (And an anklet of what looks like braided wood but is really a part of Groot's body, which can at any time grow roots into the ground, preventing them from walking.)

Rather than sticking by their yanderes (like most if not all of the other darlings do, if not by choice then by force), this darling pretty much runs rampant through the room, sneaking food from the banquet tables and making an honest effort to quietly steal a sling ring from Dr. Strange. Occasionally, Rocket or Nebula or Quill shouts at them from across the room to put something down or otherwise stop doing what they're doing. Groot, in the role of the older sibling, sometimes goes to herd them back.

"In what way is that age regression, and not just kidnapping?" Strange asks.

"Oh, that?" Quill says. "They're just going through a rebellious phase. Groot did the same stuff."

Separately, Nebula muses to someone, "With a father as cruel as Thanos, I never believed myself to have much of a...nurturing side. But ever since we found- GET DOWN FROM THERE, OR I WILL THROW YOU THROUGH THE WALL!" she suddenly bellows.

"Up yours!" their darling shouts back.

"It's nice to be a mom," Nebula continues solemnly.

(Thenamesh's darling tries to convince them to cut their leash.)

Eventually, Mantis puts them to sleep, and Drax spends the rest of the party with them casually slung over his shoulder.

The Guardians are still probably asked to leave.

Dr. Strange's darling is behaving themself, but they have an attitude. They're terse, with their lips in a sour twist that clearly conveys that they would not be here were it not for their magical captor and his ability to appear anywhere they could think to run. Their clothes are impeccable (and have the look of a boarding school uniform), but their hair is messy, suggesting they did not intend for Stephen to have an easy time getting them here.

This darling is simultaneously annoyed by the darlings who make a spectacle of their attempts to defy their yanderes and disgusted by the darlings who obey too well. The way Sambucky's darling is coddled and doted on is unbearably cloying, but Drukkari's darling being allowed to hold their own plate just absolutely grinds their gears, because Strange's darling isn't allowed to do or have anything, without Strange acting as the middle man. They have to politely ask for each bite of food, politely ask for any book or activity they might use to entertain themself, politely ask to go to the bathroom...And Strange really would let them wet themself, if they didn't ask politely enough.

They drag their feet, when Strange walks over to Druig and Makkari and the golden darling themself. They cross their arms tightly, as Strange chats with the Eternals and Drukkari’s darling meets their glower with a look they can't help reading as supercilious.

Strange's darling refuses to greet Drukkari's darling, and they don't consciously register that their unreasonable animosity toward their fellow abductees signifies a great deterioration in their emotional intelligence.

My thoughts during that Drukkari scene

1. Oh yeah! He’s okay! 

2. Aw! Makkari looks so happy to see him. She just beat the crap out Ikaris because she thought he killed Druig, but he’s alive and she looks like the weight of the world has been lifted off of her shoulders.

3. Druig just walked down from a mountain (maybe Sprite hexed them down now that I think about it) in a matter of minutes just to see Makkari!!! He looked so happy when she came up to him. 

4. Lauren Ridloff and Barry Keoghan’s chemistry on and off screen is so sweet! Druig and Makkari obviously have the potential to be in a relationship but they also fit each so well in the sense that they are best friends so they care about each SO DEEPLY!! 

5. I love Makkari not using her powers to run over to him. She just went through one of the best fights of the MCU and she takes her precious time walking over to Druig, but she’s still walking at a pace that says “oh my god you’re alive” Her facial features when she first sees him in the scene just explains it all.

5. When they hug! I HAVE NO WORDS! Except I kind of freak out that Druig puts his hands on Makkari’s waist. 

6. When they immediately touch their foreheads after hugging! SO ADORABLE I’M GOING TO FRIGGIN EXPLODE!! (The fact that part was improvised by Barry and Lauren, LIKE?! Everything about the two actors and Chloe Zhao just winging it with Drukkari just makes me appreciate every scene with them) 

7. When he whispers “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

8. When they start to make their way over back to the group and they are still looking at each other, I absolutely CANNOT with longing gazes. They just hold so much power. And I hope there will be more cause the relief that flooded Makkari’s eyes when she saw Druig. 

9. The scene is powerful with or without the score!

10. I’m babbling at this point but I love this ship so much and I would go down with it.

Mileven writing prompt let’s go!!

So I imagine this takes place after everything is done and Mike is there when El collapses against him(like the sauna but she’s severely injured as well) don’t worry it’s Hurt/Comfort

Her screams were imbedded in Mike’s head. She killed Vecna but not without bleeding wounds that stretched from her head to her legs.

Her face crumpled as she took a shaky exhale. Finally, she saved everyone.

Her heart was racing and her hands gripped her stomach with a wince. More blood was pooling around her.

She was hardly moving. Mike’s tall frame comes into view and she manages a small smile. His eyes bloodshot with eye bags that matched her own.

Shakily, she moves one foot closer. Mike was rushing to meet her halfway, the others close behind. He reaches her as she falls forward.

His body steadies her but she groans as her injuries hit her full force. He carefully holds her against him.

“ You’re safe now. I got you.” He murmurs against her temple.

She buries fully into his chest and lets her tears fall. She couldn’t believe it was over and everyone was okay. Her voice was hoarse, “Everything hurts..but right now I’m happy.” Mike was holding her like she was going to vanish. But, at least she could feel his warmth surrounding her.

Mike pulls back and observes her face with worry. “The ambulance is coming soon okay? Hold on a while longer.” El grips his arms for support and breathes in and out. Her chest hurt too much but she needed to breath before she said the next thing.

El raised a bruised and bloody hand to gently cup Mike’s cheek. “I am happy to be in this moment with you. Even if I end up-”

“Don’t say the end of that sentence. Please.” Mike’s tear filled eyes stops El in her tracks. She never thought her life was really important other than gathering information or being used to fight. But Mike was holding her and telling her with his words, his face, that her life did matter. After everything they’ve been through, she couldn’t die like this.

“Don’t be sad. I just feel tired that’s all.” El tries to reassure him but is feeling herself completely leaning on him now. Her legs gave out and her arms were barely holding on to him.

“Shit…Okay, I’m going to move you to the floor.” Mike tells her.

“Careful…it really hurts.” El weakly replies.

“Try not to talk too much okay? You used your throat a lot these last couple of days.”

El nods as she closes her eyes. Mike squeezes her hand and she squeezes with all her strength.

Mike stays by her side as the ambulance arrives. Their hands stay interlocked. Both of them were safe.

me and @mike-queerler were talking abt how ppl keep tagging the ship theyre making anti-that ship content of and the conversation went to wanting to discuss stuff with the other ship w/o being disrespectful and came up with the idea for a tag for that.

the tag is #st m/b discourse and we havent fully discussed everything abt the tag (that should probably be a wider fandom discussion tbh not just one person from either ship) but what i was thinking was if u make a post talking abt idk byler/mileven proof or an analysis of one of the ships or yk stuff like that and u wanna invite a discussion from the other ship so ur not just in an echochamber but u dont wanna tag their ship cause thats disrespectful asf ud tag that (aswell as whatever ship ur talking positively abt/not talking negatively abt for lack of better words) and ud still do the whole censoring the name of the other ship and not tagging them to respect the ppl who just wanna enjoy their ship but for the ppl that want a discussion who might be scrolling through and/or following the tag they might see ur post and want to say smthn.

Now for my part: I’m all about sharing ideas and opinions and creating a safe fandom space. I know we’re in a dip right now in terms of fandom content (as we wait for Season Five), and at least for the mileven fandom, we’re not that active, but I’d love to kickstart something in a positive way. This back and forth is quite exhausting, and I don’t want it to get in the way of healthy fandom discourse. Summary: You meet your new roommate Makkari and her friends at college. Something begins developing between you, Druig, and Makkari, but will insecurities and sorority girls get in the way of your blooming romance?

(disclaimer! This series is unedited and will have errors- I apologize)

You smiled as you felt the fresh warm air hit your face, stepping out of the car you admired to view in front of you.The dorm buildings were huge and lavish, you could only imagine what the inside looked like. 

You were snapped out of your thoughts by your mom nudging your shoulder

“Come on Y/n, we don’t have all day and I have a flight to catch” She grabbed some of your bags from the backseat and began walking towards the dorm doors, you playfully rolled your eyes- it was 8 AM you both had plenty of time to get your stuff unpacked.

Your mother had gratefully made the drive up to California with you in your car, but she was catching a flight back home this evening in order to get back in time for work.

You grabbed one of the duffel bags and slung it around your shoulder before grabbing a box and following after your mom, you found her talking with the receptionist at the front desk of the building, they both looked at you as you approached

“Hi! You must be Y/n?” the woman questioned and you groaned

“Mom, what have you told her?” your mom just shook her head with a small smile

“I’m just trying to find out where your room is y/n” She stated, you squinted your eyes at her in suspicion

“Right, I just need you to sign a few papers and then i can give you your keycard- it’s used to get in your dorm, foodhall, and lounge rooms” 

“Ok cool” You set down your stuff and grabbed the pen handed to you, briefly reading over everything before signing

“So she has a roommate right?” Your mom inquired

“Yes, she arrived yesterday so all of her stuff will be in the room already, i’m not sure if she’s there currently but i guess you’ll find out” The receptionist said

“She?” Your mother turned to you with an inquisitive smirk on her face and you had to physically restrain yourself from rolling your eyes again. 

It was no secret that you were bisexual, and you were lucky to have a mother that was accepting but it also meant that she was buying you anything and everything that had a rainbow and assumed you were going to fall in love with every girl you met. You were lucky you did most of the shopping for your dorm by yourself or you’re almost entirely sure your bedspread and school supplies would all be rainbow.

You waved a polite goodbye to the front desk lady as you picked up your bags and new keycard and began walking to your dorm, you had to take the elevator because your room was on the second floor but you didn’t mind as you didn’t have anything too heavy to unpack anyway.

You scanned the keycard until the lock flashed green and entered the room, you looked over to the other side that was practically already fully decorated and noticed a few track trophies and posters of older bands of music, they had good taste you decided. 

You set your stuff down on your side, throwing the duffle bag onto the bed before following it and laying down. 

Huh, the bed wasn’t as bad as you thought it’d be. 

Your mother huffed “no no no Y/n there is no time for resting, we’ve got to unpack the rest of the car come on” She left no room for arguments as she exited the room, she was always one to worry about time crunches.

You ran after your mom as she nearly speed walked out of the building, stopping in the lobby to catch your breath when you noticed by far the prettiest girl you’d ever seen walk into the building, she was dressed in a crop top and leggings showing off her beautiful caramel skin and good physique as she wiped sweat off her neck with a towel, obviously coming back from some sort of run.

She looked over at you, catching you staring and giving you the most beautiful smile you’d ever seen before waving and walking away. Oh yeah, you liked this college already. 

You and your mom grabbed the rest of your stuff and you locked your car before making your way back, this time when you opened your door there was someone inside and you thanked the heavens for whoever assigned the roommates. The same girl you’d run into downstairs was sitting on her bed and scrolling on her phone, looking up when you and your mother entered

“Oh look Y/n! Hi, I’m y/n’s mother it’s nice to meet you” You mother set down the boxes she was holding and walked over to the pretty girl who sat up to shake your moms hand 

“What’s your name darling?” your mother questioned, you could see the girl paying avid attention to your mom’s mouth, you were about to question it before your eyes were drawn down to her hands as she signed her name M-a-k-k-a-r-i. Ah, now you understood, she was reading her lips.

You smiled to yourself as you put down your boxes and walked over, introducing yourself in return, the girl looked mildly surprised but more pleased than anything.

“You speak sign language?” She signed

You nodded “My nephew is deaf so i learned it so I could communicate with him-, you explained

“That’s very sweet of you” 

“Thank you”

“Well i’m glad to see you two getting along already” you mother interjected “but we need to get you set up Hon” she turned to you and you sighed

“Alright”

Makkari offered to help and despite you telling her you didn’t want to inconvenience her, she still helped you set up a few things, the three of you working together got the unpacking done a lot faster than you’d excepted and by the time noon came around you were practically finished 

“Shit that was fast” you expressed, Makkari smiling and your mother swatting you on the shoulder

You sat down on your bed as your mother announced she was going to the bathroom, Makkari sat across from you on her bed

“So,” you began signing “You do track?” you nodded your head in the direction of her trophies

She beamed “Yes! I love running, it’s always been very therapeutic for me”

You snorted “couldn’t be me, exercise is not my thing, the most I can do is like 2 push-ups and a hike to the nearest ice cream shop”

She shook her head, pretending to scold you “exercise is very important, helps to keep you healthy”

“Amongst other things” you muttered to yourself, trying hard not to look at the abs showing slightly under the crop top she was wearing, when you looked back up she was smirking. Shit, had she read your lips?

Your mother burst back in right at that moment, complaining that you hadn’t moved since she left and forcing you to get off your bed to continue setting everything up, there were still some things you needed, like food for the next week at least and a few textbooks so after finishing your room you waved goodbye to Makkari and went off with your mom.

You had a feeling this school year was going to be interesting, to say the least

Based only on my opinions.

Ikaris: you love Richard Madden, or you love characters who are fucked up and do bad things but for understandable reasons. Or both.

Ajak: Milf lover, team mom edition. You either think she's a mom friend or you think she's just as to blame for everything but you like morally ambiguous characters so it's okay.

Gilgamesh: you're obsessed with the "it's rotten work"/"not to me. not if it's you." quote. You want someone who loves you through all hardships and/or you relate to the role of being a caretaker for your loved ones.

Thena: the same as Gilgamesh and you love Angelina Jolie and badass women. You are also a softie (hidden or not) and might be touch starved.

Phastos: you have the biggest brain cells. That's right, you have more than one! You hate the mcu fandom but you're still here for some reason. You were usually the one in the group project who did most of the work and put in the most effort, even if everyone else was competent and did their own work. You have suffered burnout.

Makkari: You're also a collector of many, many things. You probably ship drukkari and/or wish she was seen more outside of her relationship with Druig. They wouldn't have been able to find Tiamut without her and you think she deserves more appreciation!

Kingo: You love purple. You want to watch his movies. You love characters who appear selfish and but also care deeply for the people they love. You love Tony Stark (and for the same reasons you love Kingo), but if you don't, you think Kingo is like him but done better. Your strongest trait is understanding other people's decisions even when you don't agree with them, and you value people who have beliefs they stand by but won't hurt people over.

Sprite: Comic relief characters who finally get to explore their dark side or personal issues are your favourite. You might have abandonment issues or struggle with your self-image. Drukkari headcanon as Druig Thena's little brother 👁️👄👁️

He totally would be Thena's little brother!!!! He's also extremely protective of her like just look at the shot below. You can't tell me Druig didn't feel guilt that if he hadn't been thinking for so long and had left immediately when they came, Gilgamesh would still be alive.

But Druig just wants Thena to be at peace and stays with her sometimes to help put her to sleep 🥺

Writing a little modern AU idea below:

Thena is the eldest, adopted by a man named Arishem and Druig is the youngest. Thena has that strong, older, protective sister vibe for Druig when Arishem lays a hand on them and for a while, the two have each other.

One night, Thena has had enough and threatens to kill Arishem (but Druig, bless his heart doesn't like violence after everything that's happened and tells Arishem they're finally leaving once and for all. Thena tells Arishem to stay the fuck away from them.)

They leave but things go terribly wrong and Arishem chases them across town and they end up in a car crash. Druig is fine (he swears his wrists never heals quite right but he never tells anyone) but Thena suffers from some brain damage (because pain 💔) when Arishem rams his car into her side.

Thena goes to both psychotherapy and physical therapy, Druig goes with her in support. There, he also meets Makkari in the waiting room, who is also in physical therapy when she suffered a torn PCL injury during one of her marathons. She's the first to strike up the conversation asking what he's in there for. Druig, at first, can't believe this beautiful woman is talking to him of all things since he basically screams "depressed lone brooding man alert" and "don't talk to me vibe" and takes a immediately liking to her. He's also extremely grateful for the ASL classes he's taken in high school.

Druig makes a lame joke "my ego" but eventually tells her "my sister." Makkari doesn't prod for more info which he likes and Druig ends up moving to sit next to her and the two end up chatting. Thena finishes her session and Makkari tells Druig, don't be a stranger!

They end up meeting several times later, and soon both Thena and Makkari find out they have the same physical therapist, a woman named Ajak, who everyone swears is a miracle worker. (They find out it's true and Ajak just tells them to swing by occasionally.) Ajak takes them to celebrate after in a diner with one of her friends. That said friend is Gilgamesh and his food is absolutely wonderful. Thena and Gilgamesh bond a little, marveling at how much Druig inhales when he eats and Makkari just snapping pics away, laughing ("you're doing amazing, sweetie") and Gilgamesh doesn't become offended when Thena accidentally becomes triggered. Druig manages to calm her down. Gilgamesh empathizes with her and tells her he understands.

Gilgamesh wants to learn how he can help and how he help Thena out during one of her attacks if Druig isn't there and asks Druig. Druig is a little wary and on guard, but he trusts Makkari’s word and so in turn, he'll trust Gilgamesh. He tells him, "don't hurt her or she'll hurt you." Gilgamesh just smiles, claps a hand on his shoulder and says "wouldn't dream of it, man." Gilgamesh and Thena become closer as well as Druig and Makkari, who become best friends.

Makkari's knee makes a full recovery painstakingly and she's a little hesitant to return to the running scene but Druig encourages her and is extremely supportive. He goes with her to all her practices, even just tries to run with her at one point. Druig can't keep up but he tries his damnedest and just settles on watching Makkari run instead. (He even makes a joke about her legs and how she could strangle him if she wanted to. Makkari only smirks at him, pokes him in the chest as he glances at her lips and suddenly, the tension is the air is too thick and suffocating and next thing Druig knows, Makkari is kissing him and then well, one thing leads to another. 😏 They absolutely don't regret a single second.)

Thena opens up her heart to Gilgamesh and lets him in and the two become each other's platanchors and best friends.

"Thank you," Thena says, one night, watching him cook for her.

"What for?" Gilgamesh asks. He already knows the answer and wouldn't change anything for the better.

"For everything."

Hello all! I realize I have been MIA for ages, and I am incredibly sorry, especially to those of you who submitted a prompt that I never got around to. I am even more sorry that the chances of me getting back to them are extremely low for the foreseeable future. I hope you can forgive me.

It turns out that writing a lot of Drukkari ficlets in a relatively short span of time can give you burnout and writer’s block (are those the same thing?) I took a break from Drukkari in an attempt to cure that writer’s block, and also because the last time I hyperfixated on something for more than a few months, I got depressed. I really didn’t want that to happen again, especially not with Drukkari. I also realized that basing the worth of my fics and my own writing abilities on how many hits and comments I was getting on AO3 wasn’t helping anything. So I stepped away.

It went okay. I discovered FitzSimmons of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and the legendary Kanej of Six of Crows. I never got into as much of a writing swing as I did for Drukkari. I also started a new semester of college which has been taking up a lot of my energy.

I realize this is far more explanation than anyone probably wants. But I really did appreciate all the support I was getting earlier in the year, and I really hope I didn’t disappoint anyone too badly. I also feel like those who started following me during the height of my Drukkari era deserve a heads up because…

I may start posting again, and probably more varied content than just Drukkari. Or maybe I’m overthinking all of this and this post isn’t really necessary. Wait, those are the intrusive thoughts. This post is necessary for my own peace of mind so I can move forward, and that’s valid enough. Why am I trying so hard to justify this? Is it because it’s almost 2am? Yeah, probably. I need to stop overthinking this. Where was I?

I believe my asks are still open if you just want to ask me about headcanons or other fandoms, but please, no writing prompts for the time being. If you’ve taken the time to read all of this, I thank you with all my heart. This community was my only real outlet for Drukkari, and it has meant everything to me to be apart of it almost from the beginning. I hope to start interacting again real soon!

I Get a Sugar Rush Whenever I'm With You - Chapter 10.1

Good evening fellow Drukkari stans, or whatever time it is for you! We've officially made it to the final week of the competition, aka the beginning of the end! And coincidentally, Bake Off is airing a new season! If you've missed any previous installments and need to catch up, you can find them all on my Table of Contents here. Last time, Makkari got Star Baker, and Druig was eliminated. What will he do next? Find out now, in the next mini-chapter of Drukkari in the Great British Bake Off!

Sersi was already seated at a table when Druig arrived. She waved him over with a gentle smile on his face, and Druig plopped himself down on the seat across from her, mumbling his greetings. After exchanging pleasantries and putting in their drink orders, Sersi turned back to him and asked, "So, what's this all about, Druig?"

"I don't know what you mean," he lied, sipping his beer.

"Seriously? I nagged you about getting drinks for a week and you only now ask to meet up?" she asked. Her eyes narrowed as she continued. "Did Makkari send you to check up on me?"

"She did not. But while we're on the subject, how are you feeling about seeing your ex and your current boyfriend at the same party?"

"I actually feel fine. Ikaris and I are on decent terms, but it's none of his business who I'm seeing now. Besides, Dane and I are taking things slow," Sersi said nonchalantly. Druig must've looked surprised at this answer because she added, "Makkari already asked me. She really didn't put you up to this?"

"Nope," was all he said in reply.

Sersi gave him a long look, silently studying his face before she asked in a gentler tone, "Druig, are you and Makkari speaking again?"

"We are," he answered carefully.

"You resolved whatever happened that week?"

"We did."

"So, what's the problem?"

Druig averted his gaze as he thought about his answer. He didn't know why he had to think about it. He'd been thinking about it since Saturday. This was the very reason he'd reached out to Sersi in the first place. He needed to tell someone. Hunter had already put up with him for weeks and was unlikely to be helpful. Phastos had proved a good listener, but he was quite busy with his family during the week, and Druig didn't want to distract him ahead of the final. Of everyone else, he felt Sersi would be the most sympathetic. So, he took a deep breath, looked her in the eye, and let the words spill out.

"I'm in love with her, but I don't think I can ever tell her."

Sersi hadn't looked the slightest bit surprised by the first part of his statement, but her eyebrows rose and drew together in confusion at the second part. "Why ever not?"

With that, the flood gates were open. Druig told her everything that had happened, things he hadn't even told Phastos about. The investigations, the clandestine baking sessions, the accidental bed-sharing. Sersi mostly listened, only asking a few questions as they came up. When he finally finished, he was quite a few drinks in. Sersi had stopped at two drinks, but she was still wearing the same perplexed expression.

"What is it now?" he asked, feeling rather spent.

"I think I'm still missing something. Why can't you tell her how you feel?"

"Because I don't think she feels the same way. Also, she's my best friend, and I can't risk losing her again. The bed incident really did a number on us both."

In an instant, something seemed to click for Sersi. She reached across the table, putting a hand on his shoulder to steady him as she said, "Druig, the bed incident did a number on Makkari because she loves you too."

Now it was Druig's turn to draw his eyebrows together in confusion. "I don't think so."

"She absolutely does. And from what I can tell, I'm pretty sure everyone else knows by now."

"No, they all know that I'm in love with Makkari. Not the other way 'round."

"How do you know?"

"Because they all tell me whenever she's not there to join the conversation! Thena kind of told me to ask her out, then Ajak told me not to, Sprite just called us gross-"

"Sprite insults everyone. I think it's her way of being friendly."

"I wasn't finished. Phastos did think we were dating already, but when I explained it to him, he said I should respect her wishes but also talk to her-"

"And what do most of these interactions have in common?"

"I'm not sober or drunk enough for this much critical thinking, Sersi."

"C'mon, I know Makkari's not the only detective. Use your deductive reasoning, Watson!"

Druig sighed dramatically, but used what brain power he had left to replay those moments back in his head. His face relaxed as an idea began to form. After what felt like a lengthy silence, he gave his answer. "As time went on, the others pre-supposed that we were a couple?"

"Which means…"

"They think Makkari has feelings for me, too."

"There you go!" Sersi said excitedly. "Myself included, by the way."

"Wait, is that why you kept hounding us about drinks?"

A sheepish look came over Sersi's face as she admitted, "I may have had a very silly plan to set a date and time that worked for both of you and then not show up myself."

Druig merely raised an eyebrow at her confession, and Sersi scrunched up her nose in embarrassment.

"I know, it's completely childish, but I don't usually play matchmaker with my friends, and Makkari seemed to like the idea, so…"

All of a sudden, realization hit Druig like a bolt of lightning. "That was the surprise Makkari was talking about. Why you didn't want Kingo to join us."

Sersi was smiling proudly now. Druig felt an involuntary grin spreading across his face as well.

"Makkari does love me."

"Glad you finally got there," Sersi replied gleefully. "But if she asks, I didn't tell you. You figured it out on your own. Got it?"

"Got it."

"So, what will you do with that information?"

"Oh, I'll do something. But not until after the competition. I don't want to distract her from that," he explained.

"Very considerate. Let me know if I can help with anything," Sersi offered.

"I will." Druig held up his drink. "To Sunday?"

"To Sunday," Sersi answered. They clinked their bottles together and downed the rest.

The greek gods are just *chef kiss*.

My favorite movies on MARVEL are a tye between Thor Ragnarok and Eternals. Thor Ragnarok, I think I went to see it in the movies like eight times. I just love everything about it. I could talk about that movie for hours.

Eternals is just fucking incredible. Chloe Zao is incredible. Let's just say that the hates to this movie feels very targeted. The love I have for Drukkari could make write three essays. Or how Ikaris wasn't a monster.

And my favorite character of all time in MARVEL is Wanda Maximoff. I just love her so much, she's amazing. She's the most human I've seen, she deserves everything good. The fact that with her is talked all the themes that are scary "depression, grief, anxiety". I relate to her so much. Such a beautiful caracther. I couldn't even hate her during Doctor Strange.

Btw Peter Parker and Steven come very close. But Wanda has been there since I was little.

Since we are now halfway through the year what has been your fave movie and tv series you’ve watched? You can pick more than one!

My sweet, sweet anon. I promise I haven't been ignoring you. I've been sitting on this ask for a while now because I needed to think.

Since you didn't specify if they needed to be new or not here's what's been on my watchlist lately:

Chocolat. I adore this movie. I don't like candy and don't really have a sweet tooth, but chocolate is my go-to when I have a hankering. A whole movie about my favourite sweet? Yes, please! Juliette Binoche in this movie is to die for. I aspire to Vianne Rocher. She's a force to be reckoned with but walks through her everyday life with kindness. She's observant and takes her time to get to know the people around her. However, instead of using the information she finds with malice she chooses to help others (and guess their favourite chocolate). She stays true to herself, her beliefs, and her morals even in the face of adversity. She enters every situation with kindness regardless of how she's being perceived. And, she doesn't come off as a Mary Sue like a lot of women get written off as. She has faults, and she makes mistakes, and you get to see them. Everything about her is exceptional. Come on! How could I ask for more? I watch this movie at least once a month, if not more. Not to mention that I also am determined to dress similarly to Vianne in this movie. I just need to find myself a quaint French town to live in first.

Looking past the glaring issues of the latest season, Stranger Things is definitely one of my favourites. I'm an absolute fraidy-cat. I can't watch this show at night by myself. I need my husband to watch it with me, or I binge it during daylight. Regardless of all that, I think overall, this show is really great. From the soundtrack to the originality of the story. I love the progression and the antics. While this latest season was a lot mellower in terms of the comedic aspect, I do adore the daily lives of the kiddos in this show and watching them grow in real-time. The intricacies of all the relationships is also amazing. Plus, the characterizations of the people in general. The actors themselves brought these characters to life, and I'm better for it. I honestly can't pick a favourite from the bunch because they all have a special place in my heart.

Honourable mentions:

I tried getting into Euphoria. I liked it but never made it past episode 3.

I enjoyed Eternals (Drukkari 4 Life).

WandaVision & Loki

The Book of Boba Fett. I know it gets heat because the last couple of episodes are Mando heavy, but altogether I really liked the show.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This was alright. I loved Wanda's story arc but tbh as a major MCU film, it was a bit lacklustre. I didn't really care about Dr. Strange in it at all.

Sailor Moon Crystal (I got my oldest hooked on this by accident and now we're watching it together)

On my To Be Watched List:

I've seen and heard great things about Ms. Marvel, but tbh I'm MCU'd out right now.

Top Boy. I loved the original British series, and my husband watched the Netflix season of 2019 and liked it, but I never got around to it. Now that there's another season, I'm considering it. I'm worried, though, because I don't care for Drake, and I know he's the executive producer on this revival. It's said that he's just bankrolling it, but anything associated with Drake I tend to ignore.

Yellowjackets. I don't know much about this one besides that a lot of people have liked it. I'll maybe get around to watching it.

The Boys. The first season was great, but I just haven't felt the pull to watch the subsequent seasons. I want to, I just can't focus on it long enough to actually sit through an episode. I miss Frenchie!

Finally, new content for Atlanta! I can't wait to dive back into this series all over again and then catch up with the newest season.
