how long have you been working on Lord of Gentle Swords? it's so wonderfully rich and complex and it's making me miss home a lot <3

I've been thinking about the gentle sword for almost 10 years, just a sword that can never kill but can heal was very cool to me, it's changed and evolved a lot, but it's come full manifestation about 4-ish years ago, the first character that came to me was Darenya, then Narakan, and then Radinta. It really was first just a story about Darenya and Narakan as siblings who desperately loved each other and whose only family they had in the world was each other. Pushed onto the opposite sides of dogma and war and clawing their way back into each other's lives one way or another. Radinta took a larger part in it when I stopped feeling ashamed of being gay and trans, and I stopped feeling anxious about "not feeling filipino enough" and "not feeling indigenous enough". It really also was born out of helplessness during the Du30 administration, and I became really determined to finish it after a cop shot at me last year.. bruh I still feel like that was yesterday, like the world has moved on and I'm still trapped in that memory. Anyway! Tangent. I could talk for hours over how much time and money I spent researching this stupid behemoth and it never feels like I've done enough.

Literally have no patience for americans comparing trump to the marcoses or centering the events in the Philippines on the US. :) You honestly don't know the history of the martial law in the philippines and the 30 year long revisionist campaign if you think this is at all comparable to trump. :) It's disrespectful to the martial law victims and their families, the people fearing for their lives both in the current du30 administration and the return of marcos, for simply dismissing this as people putting "dangerous clown" in office (which considering the obvious voter fraud happening on election day....). :)

Hi friends. Sorry for the delay in work and no art. The past 48 hours have been a complete nightmare. I don't use these words lightly but my paternal relatives have been extremely abusive to the point it has crossed past unforgivable. I've made several incomprehensible posts here about the traumatic events that has surrounded the elections. My paternal side of the family has always been deeply bigoted and cruel bullies ever since my childhood, but my aunt was suicide baiting my 16 year old sister due to her political opinions (we are against Marcos and do not believe in him), and something in me snapped and I told her to shut the fuck up and grow up. She and my cousin are too grown to be harassing my sister.. she and other aunts and cousins have decided to resort to ableist name-calling (my sister is autistic) and slurs, fatphobia, classicism, everything under the sun. harassment that lasted hours and hours without end on facebook. I have decided to burn this bridge and never look back, but I have been feeling extremely lonely as several of my family members remained neutral even knowing the amount of abuse and bigotry my family has been capable of. These elections have filled me with so much doubt and fear, as a survivor of police and gun violence under du30.. I just do not know what to do or where to go. I am seriously considering fleeing the country with my immediate family... I am sorry again for the sudden stop in progress in commissions. I'm trying slowly to get back into the swing of things, but I feel terrible. I've been crying on and off from how angry I fucking feel. I feel incomplete not because I will miss them, but I feel incomplete because i feel they have destroyed so much of me it's like trying to navigate life with half a body.

I have to say this, but your mom is one of those stuck in the cult mindset. Leni has been VP for years and she's active on the ground, just check her political history (on official sources too!). Her contributions have reached an international scale, she's the one balancing our Du30's disrespect towards our foreign allies.

I live in Iloilo and we're often struck by typhoons. Remember when I had a week break last year because of the typhoon? Yeah. Every year, we struggle with little to no media attention when disasters happen. VP Leni was one of the first to actively use her platform for us. She sent people and aid before the typhoon even arrived.

Believe me when I say she's active. As someone from the province, it's incredible how she reaches out to us immediately.

I know it's scary to debate with family, I've had a few who taunted and threatened me as well (takes every bit of my patience to have a healthy discourse 🥲) but this isn't just my future, but for the victims of the past as well. I'm inspired by the sons and daughters of politicians who spoke up against incompetent ruling. Take it slow with your mom, I want to believe that there's good in everyone and that they only need to be informed to make better choices.

It makes me wonder, just how obsessed are they with a dictator's son to the point that they aren't even aware of his own campaigns and activities? He's been in congress for years now, only co-signing typical bills under the names of other politicians. I do hope you can make your mom see reason– not just for your sake, but as someone who loves my family members, I want them to be aware of their choices and morals // sobbing
