So I finished Chapter 21, and I need you to understand how much you nailed Spirit's reintroduction.

Warriors is running to stop Cia and Lana when the train shows up, and I'm in awe, because of course! A big moment like this needs a big entrance! I'm on the edge of my seat, holding my breath right along with Warriors.

Then the engineer gets off.

He doesn't ask questions. He doesn't need to. He tells Lana to get off the track, says, "nope, not this bullshit again," and starts blasting, and I start losing my shit. I lose it again when I try to explain what's going on to my husband and he says, "Link has a gun?!"

I keep reading, and the amusement dips straight back into suspense, and into a moment that I didn't realize I needed: that beautiful, tearful reunion between Time and Spirit.

The fact that you manage to string these moods together so seamlessly is part of what makes this story so great.

I'm usually kind of sad when a new chapter is over, but not today. Because the image of this poor man minding his business, riding his train through New Hyrule, just to have to get off and start brandishing his gun in the fucking Temple of Souls has been sending me all evening. Thank you <3

If someone is completely new to the Ace Attorney series, where would you recommend they start? How did you start/find out about the series?

game 1! either playing it yourself or watching someone play. no commentary, full commentary, i'd say just find a good LP where the people playing respect the story and settle down.

of the LPs i've heard ppl recommend pixel partners and press buttons & talk. you can also play with a guide which is what i do when i stream haha. the original trilogy is really cheap! its 15 bucks for all 3 games on switch rn, probably the same for steam. you can licherally put the OG trilogy on anything at this point.

i have always known about AA, back in the early days of the internet it seemed like everyone had played it or heard of it, i've been around since back when the objection.lol website was like. a simple text box that made u a little flash animation! and i had always had people in my circle who liked AA, especially when i joined tumblr. my general opinion on it was "that's the game about the two lawyers, they're gay i think"

then two years ago my friend posted a 'what white haired anime boy are you' uquiz and i took it and got some dude named manfred von karma and was like, who the fuck is this guy. and i then received, hm. about 20 asks! several of them were like "wendy what the FUCK" and the other half were like "so close! please google his daughter."

i was very perplexed by this request. ace attorney didn't have women, i thought. there are no women in ace attorney, i had never seen a single one. so i looked up franziska and she was a mean anime lady with a whip and i got sad about how people on the internet perceive me and proceeded to eat some cheesecake and watch pokemon.

then its a year and a half later and im in a linked universe server and my friend rin is like 'guys i have ace attorney brainrot, if i stream ace attorney will you all come along' and i said 'yes! the uquiz said i was manfred von karma.' and the rest of my friends were like 'wendy what the FUCK' and then they were like 'wait no google his daughter' and i was like i did and it hurt my feelings. but you guys are nice to me and my friends, so maybe i should listen to you.

and then we played ace attorney for 6756756 years, for 7 hours straight, in a discord call for several saturdays. eventually we all started reading it like a high school english class, doing voices and whatnot. when we got to JFA, the night of the first case, i paced around my apartment in a nervous tizzy for 8 hours like i had a fucking audition or something, screaming at various objects in my house in, ostensibly, the worst german accent you can imagined. i own an 8 foot bullwhip now her name is schnappi like from the schnappi das kleine krokodil :) i forgot what we were talking about

Olivia Driving headcanons

So I reblogged a post with driving headcanons of Asoue characters. r-duchessofwinnipeg, wonderful person that they are, pointed out that Olivia Caliban was not among the names.

It must be corrected.

My headcanons for Olivia’ s driving.

1.)  Olivia has great hand-eye coordination. She understands angles, force, speed. She has no fear. She can parallel park.  If need be-and in the world where everybody lives, does- drive like the people on fast and furious. She is a very steady driver otherwise. However, things do occur randomly and many a colleague or orphan has been in the car going to do something innocuous that turns into death defying stunts.

(Jacques is concerned, but she doesn’t break the speed limit all to often an they really did need to get past that train, he will just ask Violet to look at the safety system in the car)

(Jacquelyn likes Olivia for getaways, Kit has been known to jump out of the car when Olivia drives.)

(Larry doesn’t get in the car if Oliva’s driving)

(Lemony doesn’t see what the fuss is about. He finds Olivia’s driving relaxing. A little strange when she drove backwards into oncoming traffic, but there is no chance of enemies catching up. He got several chapters done in the backseat last time)

(Beatrice drove the same way, the Baudelaires don’t know any different. The Quagmires beg Uncle Jacques or Larry to drive.)

2.) Olivia has a one track mind. If she’s driving, she’s driving. She doesn’t eat and drive or sip coffee and drive. If she needs to do anything but drive, she pulls over. Exception: She does talk if nothing interesting going on, but her eyes stay fixed on the road.

3.) She backs into parking spaces.

4.) She can calculate exactly how much time it would take her to stop, and how much time it would take her to cross an intersection. If she thinks the car is gonna be in the middle of the intersection before it turns red, she keeps going.at yellow. 

5.) Her road rage is beautiful and occurs often. Her insults are literary masterpieces. She doesn’t curse, (Lemony does, but that's for another time) but well read people will either laugh or try and crawl under a rock.

Do the character thing for all THREE Denouements

Give me a character and I’ll tell you my headcanon for:

Frank

What they smell like: Fresh linens, powder, whatever perfume R’s wearing today.

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): He sleeps like a corpse, on his back, hands folded. He is truly a vampire. He also somehow finds a way to get a solid 8 hours every night, bc he is a SLACKER and is the worst Denouement, RANIA.

What music they enjoy: Smooth jazz w/ lots of saxophone to get him in ‘the mood.’

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: Frank takes a good thirty minutes to wash hair/face, shave, get dressed, put on cologne, and go.

Their favorite thing to collect: Postcards from guests

Left or right-handed: Right

Religion (if any): Everyone Is Jewish (though w/ the denouements, im p sure only secular….)

Favorite sport: Golf or tennis

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): Tour the city and observe architecture/stylistic decisions over the centuries so he can get inspiration for ways to make the Denouement the best hotel in the worldddd.

Favorite kind of weather: Sunny and bright, so he can go watch over the pool.

A weird/obscure fear they have: Frank does NOT like when his food touches on a plate.

The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: Those sharp shooting western games are his favorite.

Ernest

What they smell like: Basil, neroli, cigarette smoke, martinis (NOT aqueous)

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): He falls asleep quite literally, sprawling out on whatever he can find. Ernest frequently practices the “everyman,” not because he wants to, but because he has to.

What music they enjoy: When he was younger he was a black sheep, and his music taste reflected that. He has eclectic tastes, and nothing any respectable person would listen to. But Ernest is nothing if not a disgrace.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: Ernest doesn’t really. Change his clothes, if only because he doesn’t have time. He tends to sleep in them, and changes when he can. So it only takes about, oh, 15 minutes to get ready, and freshens up throughout the day.

Their favorite thing to collect: Fancy lighters, and over 19 magazine subscriptions that he would NEVER admit to reading.

Left or right-handed: Left

Religion (if any): Everyone Is Jewish (though w/ the denouements, im p sure only secular….)

Favorite sport: Soccer, rugby

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): Wandering parks, cafes, and crowded spaces where no one would know who he is.

Favorite kind of weather: Nighttime with a light breeze.

A weird/obscure fear they have: Ernest cannot stand snakes, not one bit.

The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: He enjoys the house of mirrors, not because it’s a game, but because it’s fun.

Dewey

What they smell like: Sandalwood, books, musk, a slight dampness

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): Fetal position or standing up, leaning against a bookshelf. And sleep? Whenever he passes out.

What music they enjoy: Classical, especially violins. And the sounds of his frogs at night.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: Morning means nothing to Dewey.

Their favorite thing to collect: Rare books, and rarer frog figurines.

Left or right-handed: Ambidextrous

Religion (if any): Everyone Is Jewish (though w/ the denouements, im p sure only secular….)

Favorite sport: Chess :----)

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): He shall go to every library, and every museum!!!

Favorite kind of weather: He does not. Go outside. And the sun. Burns.

A weird/obscure fear they have: Opossums and other large rodents.

The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: Those try your luck games.

Long gone were the days of the lavish parties that flourished within the halls of the mountainside headquarters, replaced with a bitter scent not unlike that of horseradish or betrayal and dust on every bare surface. The Mortmain Mountains had grown inhospitable for most except for a particularly tenacious band of Snow Scouts and a pack of displaced, half-starving lions, leaving it an abandoned relic buried in rock and snow. If one attempted to climb up the rocks as some would hike for pleasure, it would likely lead to certain death, but those who had made the journey countless times before knew a slightly safer, secret route. And as with most things that bore a sinister eye symbol, it all flowed in and out of the city eventually.

( idk whether this means I should do three or if you were just really excited ( bc same ) but I’m going to do three )

one — R has a massive crush on jacques snicket, which is, of course, not normally considered unique ( have you SEEN HIM ), yet it becomes slightly more impressive when you consider that R is, in fact, a Raging Homosexual. her crush on jacques is more of a girlhood crush ; he’s the handsome, charming older brother of her dearest friend.

two — R is very good with numbers: this ranges from everything to trigonometry to statistics to stock markets. and here’s a secret a certain someone will want to take to the grave with her — the only reason esme gigi geniveve squalor is the city’s sixth most important financial advisor is because R dropped out of the game when her mother died. ( this one has a basis in canon ; R was in charge of the finance section of the Daily Punctilio but had to leave when her mother died, this position was then filled by jacques snicket who had been working in the fashion section ( from the unauthorized biography ) )

three — R actually shares many similarities, personality wise, with olaf. both are Extra beyond belief, and both share Deep and Passionate feelings regarding kit snicket ( R admires and respects her and also very much fears her power ) — she thinks it might be something to do with the nobility titles. as a young woman, R enjoyed making his life as difficult as she possibly could and terrorized him constantly. as they got older though, he became more dangerous and she became less attached. the turning point was kit’s relationship with olaf. R guessed it would have a violent end, but decided voicing her concerns to anyone other than lemony or jacques would only make it happen faster.u
