Quiet Reader

Snazzy Labs, introduced me to this, and it is amazing, by using a shortcut it turns any large block of text into a readable non- distracting, customisable interface. This app, currently Mac only, is completely free.

Structured

This is a day planner app as well as a calendar app, but it allows me to dump a bunch of tasks that I need to do in the sidebar and then plan my week accordingly. By not having a fixed time on when to start and when to end, I am free to shuffle around those tasks and place them where it works best for me. It enables me to see if I have planned adequate travel time and breaks for myself throughout the day. It's free to download, but some options are locked behind a paywall.

This is also a calendar app, recently acquired by Notion, so I am expecting big things from this app. I have been trying lots of calendar apps lately, as I find the default ones are lacking functionality. The most valuable feature I find it has is the keyboard shortcuts (those of you who use Notion will become accustomed to them quite quickly) and its use of multiple times zones on the one calendar view. It's free and only open to early access now if you want to give it a try.

Fig

This is an app for those of you who frequently use the terminal on your computer, and you are looking for an easier way to navigate around and execute commands. Fig is just a small app that offers a small IDE-like interface for the terminal. It's been so helpful for me, who can struggle with the correct spelling and phrasing of commands.

Heyo! My nickname is dulce and that’s what I named this blog after! I made this blog to be more productive, hold myself accountable and to document my growth and progress.

About me 🌟

I’m 20

I’m a third year psych major and comp sci is my concentration

I’m learning spanish!

was ENFP-T (campaigner) now I’m ESFP-T (entertainer), aquarius, gryffindor

favorite colors: blue, purple, green and I’m recently getting really into pink

Goals🌟

long-term goals: I want to get a software engineering internship, probably with iOS dev since that’s what I have the most experience with. I honestly don’t think I’ll get one yet, but I will definitely apply.

I want a job where I can code and develop software and still interact with people because I’m incredibly social and love to smile (an old nickname was smiley)

meeting people with interests similar to mine or just people in general, idk people can be cool sometimes

background: I was pre-med with a bio and psych double major. I was absolutely disinterested with bio.

writing poems, journaling, writing my friends love letters, music and singing, reading, musicals, anime (any recommendations??)

I love studio ghibli with all of my heart and I love JOJO (let’s argue😤) and im currently watching AOT

favorite shows/movies of all time: the twilight zone (original series), stardust, Monty python and the holy grail, Star Trek (currently watching everything an in order)

things I want to learn: how to play the bass guitar, python, more java, more swift, investing

my new fashion ✨aesthetic✨ is dark/light academia and it’s rly cute and makes me happy

I thought this would be a good way to document my progress/ growth and inspire myself and others along the way

COVID and quarantine have been tough on me academically, mentally, kinda socially but I still talk to my homies and I just need to re-organize myself

Today all classes were cancelled again! Honestly the first I was like “ha lol snow day yea boi” but today it’s like “come on man, this is an inconvenience.” I’m watching a 2 hour video on IntelliJ IDEA so that I know all the ins and outs for my programming class. They use Eclipse and Netbeans and I don’t want to use either.

Also you can’t see, but the snow is literally as tall as my WINDOW AHHHHH. Might also change my mouse sticker.

12/29/20 Day 29: Christmas or New Years?❄️

I prefer Christmas because I feel like we do more for that holiday, there’s more anticipation and it’s fun.

Day 28 Goals:

Completed my goals and I feel like I only did them because they were my main priorities for the day so I’m making them my goals for today as well so I can try and build a habit. Sometimes I feel bad for spending a lot of my time in bed and then I remember that I’m literally on break.

Today I think I’ll start reading some short stories in Spanish (I got a lil book) and it’ll be a nice exercise.

12/2/20 Day 2: What is your favorite thing about winter?❄️

My favorite thing about winter would be my birthday! It’s usually really nice. I really miss having ❄️ ! It’s cold and sucks sometimes, but I love snow. When I was younger I ate snow (only freshly fallen because I had standards, even as a smol babe) because it was basically a snow cone 🍧 .

Day 1 Goals:

🔏Extern- Work on leadership microcredential

I didn’t watch my math lectures because after my productive morning I hopped in bed for a nap and never got out. Especially since it’s getting darker earlier so my brain just wanted to stay in bed. So, I need to make sure to do the harder things in the morning and I’ll work on those lectures today.

12/1/20 Day 1: Do you like winter?❄️

I like winter! I wouldn’t say I love it, but I really enjoy bundling up like a little marshmallow and then coming back to a warm home. I’m an Aquarius, so my birthday is during the winter and it’s fun to spend a time that’s usually cold with those who make my heart warm🥺 (very cheesy, but that’s how I am)

Winter Studying Challenge

12/11/20 Day 11: 11th December - What is a favourite family Christmas/holiday memory that has stuck with you through the years? Why? ❄️

A favorite family Christmas memory would honestly be when I got my first iPhone. Under the tree there was a small present and inside of this little box was a piece of paper that said “Congratulations, you won an iPhone!” It was really cute and then I later went to the store with my mum to pick out my new phone.

Day 10 Goals:

🔏Implement a search bar in the app

🔏Watch videos on how to implement search bar

Goals completed! For the search bar my teammate was actually able to implement in so I asked her to show me how she did it and her thought process after demo day. All of the videos and documentation that I read was not helpful at all! Well they were helpful, but didn’t help my solve my problem because it wasn’t just a search bar, but having to implement an API and a network request that worked in tandem with that search bar and the movie/show results.

Day 11 Goals:

🖋Finish code for MovieDetailsViewController

🖋Work on Demo Day presentation- share with group members

🖋Practice giving the presentation (via Zoom w/ screen share), write out a script to get my thoughts on paper

I’m also starting the 100 days of productivity and I think I’ll post those at night so I can talk abt what I did!

Winter Studying Challenge

12/25/20 Day 25: Merry Christmas! Tell us about your day.❄️

Today was nice! We had a big family dinner and it was lovely! I couldn’t eat too much because halfway through my plate I was full. I really enjoyed my presents!!! This was a really nice Christmas in the way of presents because I feel like we either got what we really wanted or really needed and I really appreciate that. My little brother got me a fountain pen and my older brother got me essential oils for my diffuser and I was really happy :):) Me and my older brother got my little brother a Mac (he’s going away to college) and my lil bro got the older one headphones and then I got him a skateboard holder thing (bc they’re sk8r boiz). My college friends had a Group FaceTime and it was so lovely to see everyone because I haven’t seen them in so long!!!!!! It was just a really nice day.

Day 24 Goals:

🔏Study Java

🔏Study Spanish (at least an hour)

🔏Study German (at least an hour)

While I was studying each language I listened to some cultural music yk to hear the language more and it was nice. I’m taking a second level spanish class in the spring as an elective, but learning german more so on my own so I got a workbook and it’s coming soon!!

Winter Studying Challenge

12/30/20 Day 30: What is your best memory from 2020?❄️

My best memory would... omg when I was thinking about this I thought about the summer, but then “oh no that was still 2019.” Then I thought well when was January and I realized I spent 3 months of 2020 on campus because in March we had to evacute. I didn’t realize how much time actually passed and now we’re here at the end of the year.

My favorite memory would be mid-November when I went to the city with my friends. We hadn’t hung out in ages (quarantine and the like) and it was just lovely to see them (I probably said the word lovely 100 times that day). We walked around the city, crossed some bridges, ate some food, visited a small museum, and went shopping. It was such a lovely day and the soreness in my legs when I got home was but a lovely reminder of the fun I had.

Day 29 Goals:

The only reason I completed 2/3 of these goals was, again, because it was a day priority. I really didn’t feel like it, but remembered that this is a promise I made to myself and if I can’t keep the promises I make to myself how can I give others my word, yk? So I finally finished it pretty late at night. Times like these I wish I was back on campus because if I decided to exercise at mignight or get some work done it wouldn’t disturb anyone except me, but now that I’m home my whole family can hear what I’m doing. Damn these creaking floors.

Yesterday I wrote my pen pal letter, it’s quite lovely if I do say so myself, and finally sealed a letter I wrote to my friend months ago. I’m mailing them both today!!! I’m really excited. I’m also totally getting a bass guitar and I can’t wait to start playing. Hopefully by the 50 day mark of 100dop (I’m around 20 rn) I can get my headphones and an amp.

Today’s picture is me waking up at midnight to get my goals done because if I did it before I went to *actual* sleep then it counts!

1/22/20 Day 22: Ice skate or roller blade?

I’ve been ice skating once in my life and it was so much fun!!! I only roller bladed in my friends house and even then it was just me trying to stand up! But I definitely prefer ice skating. Sidebar: tried to learn how to skate and broke my foot lol

I think that since I got out of bed so late, I only had enough time in the day to complete my assignments, eat, consume some form of netflix and go to sleep. Then I was watching a YouTube video and at like 12 am (my bedtime) decided to start cleaning. I usually worry about making noise but I blasted music so if anyone could hear me well not my problem dude. Anyways it felt really good to clean and I finally placed my phone far away from me and I’m up!!! At my designated time!!! Woot!!!!

Day 22 Goals:

Today is the last day of my winter class and I’m so happy. I did pretty well and my gpa will definitely thank me. I might need to read a bit more of the textbook before taking the quiz, but a small price to pay for a good grade.
