The ending to Whitebeard wanting grandkids has my crying laughing! If you don’t mind headcanons or a scenario of how you think the crew all act once someone finally does give Whitebeard grandkids. -dumbassnomi

“So Ace, tell me how my grandkids are coming,” Whitebeard booms out of the blue one afternoon. It had been a slow, hot day with little wind, so the Moby was more or less stationary. That meant boredom.
Ace almost choked on his spit at Pops’s words, jerking up from where he was laying in your lap to cough horribly. Your hand rubbed at his back, soothing him while you snickered behind your hand.
“Old man, I’ve told you, there are no grandkids coming. Not for a while, anyway,” he said, though the latter was more of a whisper.
That statement made your heart skip a beat and your stomach flip. You had been holding onto the news for a while, and a shared look with Marco told you he shared your anxiety. Marco was the only person who knew you were already pregnant, and it hadn’t taken much to make him keep his mouth shut. He knew there was no way you were going to leave Ace, and Whitebeard would be ecstatic at the news.
Taking a deep breath, you took Ace’s hand and jerked, pulling him to his feet. He looks confused as you pull him towards Whitebeard’s massive form.
“I’ve got some news, actually,” you say, grinning at both men.
Whitebeard’s eyes widen to the size of dinner plates, his mouth underneath his mustache almost splitting his face in two as he realizes what you’re saying.
There’s a thump next to you on the deck, and when you look over at Ace, he’s wearing a look of terror. Your heart stutters for a moment as you wonder if he’s really unhappy, but then he’s crawling on his knees towards you, his hand caressing your still flat stomach as if he wants to feel it kick.
“Congrats, _____! Son, you’re gonna be a father!” Whitebeard said as he pulled you both into an embrace. Almost as an afterthought he added, “And I guess that makes me grandpa, finally!”
The others gathered around you to give their congratulations. Ace was watching you with awe and a touch of nervousness. You knew his feelings on children and, after his childhood, you couldn’t exactly blame him. But sometimes accidents happened, no matter how careful the two of you were, and you weren’t exactly unhappy about it. Based on the way he hovered around you, keeping you tucked close to his side or just in some way touching you for the rest of the night told you he wasn’t either.
Izou was all for helping you pick out baby clothes, clicking his tongue in distaste at the awful maternity clothes at the next island. Thatch bought several cookbooks on healthy food for pregnant women and started making you special dishes, and wouldn’t hear of it when you told him not to worry about it. Marco kept a close eye on you as your pregnancy progressed and was the one that sat Ace down to have a chat about his anxiety and his overprotectiveness.
Next to Ace, though, the happiest person on the ship was Whitebeard. He wanted grandkids, no doubt, but what he really wanted was the proof that his sons were happy, and to him starting a family of their own was the ultimate sign of that. He took in all those strays and orphans, giving them a make-shift, cobbled together family, but what he always hoped for was for them to find their own, as well.

serious quote is “one good thing about music is when it hits you, you feel no pain” by bob marley, i believe? it’s a little cliche but music has always been a huge comfort to me, especially when i was a teen. on a side note, a stupid quote i love is “a little kiss? i haven’t seen that kind of face eating since silence of the lambs” and i laugh at it a lot.
uh oh god idk. i’ve read a dozen. the devils detective by simon kurt unsworth, the fear institute by johnathan l howard, amberlough by lara elena donnelly, and meg by steve alten are a few. i love reading.
