#FreeganFebruary - the season of toast 🥖🍞 these are some of my #freegan toast meals so far.. there have been many! Did you know that bread is one of the most thrown out foods in the world? One of the reasons is that shops will proudly tell you that the bread is all baked fresh that day... Which inherently means that anything left at the end of the day can't be sold. When I was #dumpsterdiving more often there was always a full bag of bread in every bin. Consistently. Shops need to find a way to manage stocks to make sure there isn't this huge amount of waste. We also need to find better ways to deal with all the waste bread than just dumping it into (hopefully) compost or (realistically, often) landfill. Do you know any shops that sell yesterday's bread? What recipes do you use #stalebread in? #lessfoodwaste #foodwaste #zerowasteliving #zerowastedublin #zerowasteireland (at Dublin, Ireland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoslDWrshA7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Dumpster Diving and Acquisition Guidelines Reduce Waste:
We all like "stuff" but some of the stuff we acquire has limited and short-lived use or no use at all because it was acquired on a whim. Acquire supplies that will be used and fulfill a real purpose. Dumpster diving is simply looking through trash dumpsters (scavenging) for useful items that people throw away. These items can include building materials, furniture, books, tools, clothes, food and even CASH! There is a chance of finding most anything in a dumpster. If you look in the dumpster behind a local restaurant be prepared for some slimy and disgusting things. Avoiding places like that will be a much nicer experience. Depending on what you're looking for, apartment complex or college dorm dumpsters may be the best. At the end of the month or semester, people who are moving will throw away perfectly good items they just don't want to move. Many times they will place it beside the dumpster for people like us to pick up. If you are looking for food, the best place is behind a grocery store where they get rid of expired food. But set some guidelines, ahead of time, on choosing what you will consider eating. Consider equipping yourself with a good pair of shoes (protection from broken glass around dumpsters), Cut-Resistant or Heavy Leather Gloves, a cheap flashlight (in case of losing it) and a hooked cane to help pull things to you that you can't reach and provide some measure of protection. Supplies Acquisition Guidelines Before venturing out on your dumpster hunt, it's good to prepare a "Dumpster List" of things you want or need. That may help specify where you are going to start your search. You are bound to find other things you want or need but having a dumpster list puts some level of organization for your trip. Additionally, there are "Acquisition Guidelines" to help stretch dollars, limit output of refuse and select items that are easy to transport and maintain should evacuation or relocation become necessary in an emergency. These guidelines include:
Durability - built strong and proven strong to take rough treatment and last a long time.
Utility - function over fashion; cargo pants for extra pockets, boots vs. sneakers, junky old diesel truck vs new car.
Multiple Uses - multi-tool, wok vs saucepan, clothing for work and church, web belt for pants or tourniquet.
Portability - Strong but light materials for packup-and-go and kind to the body.
Repairable/Salvageable - If is breaks, can I fix it?
Tradeable - can it be bartered for something else?
Energy - Manually is, generally, better but does it need batteries or electricity to function? If so, how easy to acquire?
Redundancy - for bartering, swapping parts, backup of ultra-useful items, available at multiple locations

Found it!...but it had a broken mirror so I had to find a new one and then had to watch 25 YouTube videos on how to cut a circle out of glass. Worth it. #dumpsterdiving https://www.instagram.com/p/ChItrsbvOr6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

i still think the hate against golf is just performative culture wars bs. while there are certainly many real problems with it, none of them are really inherit such that it necessitates it being abolished 'after the rev'.
'b-b-but it's a sport for the rich!' ok, so equalize it. make it available to everyone. each course could have its own equipment library. build apartments in the surrounding area with some well connected public transit. make it cheap and eliminate restrictions on who can join in on the fun.
'b-b-but the pesticides! the ecological damage!' there are already organic courses. additionally, early courses were built along sandy dunes or w/e with native grasses and 'mown' with sheep. they were minimally landscaped. i also doubt even half of the people who'd complain about the use of pesticides eat an exclusively organic diet.
'b-b-but it uses so much land! it should be a public sex forest garden!' i think this is a non-issue honestly. it's really such an incredibly small fraction of a fraction of land use. urban land use in general just pales in comparison to agriculture land use. and as state before, golf courses could be built on otherwise 'unhabitable' land such as dunes. meanwhile, agricultural use accounts for nearly half of all habitable land, around 80% of which goes to animal agriculture, despite farmed animals only accounting for about 17% of the world calories and 38% of its protein. also, no one ever seems to want apply the same critique of 'unproductive' land use to parks. because generally people recognize that parks are a social good.
Tumblr media
it really, as far as im concerned, all just boils down to 'golf' being a fixed image of some 'snooty rich people' sport, a neat little prepackaged way to virtue signal in a way that, if it were to be abolished, wouldn't actually necessitate any change in lifestyle of those who advocate against it. curious.

The epilogue to Neverland is so fucking important to me btw because like. It's the character development of Mika absolutely tearing Shu apart, calling him an idiot and screaming at him about how he can't just do whatever he wants, right?
And it's not only the contrast between, earlier in the same story, Shu yelling at Mika in public and Mika just taking it and apologising whereas here Mika is the one yelling, but it's the contrast to the entire rest of the storyline. Like, they say you can't have a good friendship/relationship without arguments, because if you argue and quarrel it means you care and that you allow eachother to express different viewpoints (ofc, fights are Bad, but arguments and such are what I'm mentioning here) so it's.
Their relationship truly going from puppeteer/marionette to equal partners. Because Mika's no longer afraid to disagree with Shu and just doing whatever Shu tells him to, he's actively fighting for himself, including yelling at and insulting Shu because he threw away his things without asking him.
And then further in Acanthe, we get another step of Mika being able to very naturally propose a change to the entire concept, like, a day or two before the live, and Shu, just as naturally, accepting the change and working with him on it. They're finally (becoming) equals. Thank you for coming to my TED talk

This is basically Festus Creed and Coryo Snow every weekend:

Don’t worry. Sejanus and Felix will easily bail Creed and Coryo out of juvenile jail (again) if they ever get arrested (again).😂
