TJ Grant ended his UFC career on a five fight win streak that was capped off with a KO of Gray Maynard which guaranteed him a title shot at Ben Henderson. Of course that's a what if fight we never got to see because Grant ended up retiring due to catching a concussion in training and ultimately decided that the money in MMA wasn't worth the damage he was taking (Seeing as things are now he was right lol)
But this guy was a dog. Somebody you should definitely look up if you're unfamiliar.
You also know what's crazy? That fight against Gray Maynard was at UFC 160. The same card where Cain Velasquez murdered Big Foot for a second time, JDS caught Mark Hunt with a crazy spinning wheel kick. And names like Max Holloway, Khabib, Wonderboy and Robert Whittaker were still fighting on prelims.
What a time.

Marley Dunham
for @naeices' A toast in Tartosa˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * .♡ *:・゚
୨ ♡ ୧  27yo | Sagittarius | hot-headed, adventurous, outgoing | writer of action/adventure books ୨ ♡ ୧
Going against her parents since birth, Marley and Mitchell were supposed to be twin boys, but when the doctor said the second baby was a girl, the family decided to keep the previously chosen name (or the baby's clothes were already embroidered with it).
During Marley's childhood, she was her twin's shadow. It didn't matter how hard she tried, it was never good enough to beat Mitchell and his genius brain. So, instead of accepting this fate, Marley started to do everything she wanted with or without her parent's consent, becoming the "rebel twin", which resulted in leaving to seek new and exciting adventures as soon as her eighteen came.
As she grows older, Marley finds her lifestyle kind of lonely, and it feels like it is the right time to find someone to share new experiences with.
✦ likes: the colors blue, orange and brown | R&B n electronica for long rides | Hiking and (any) sports | Reading and writing | Going to trips | Photography | Outdoor activities | Colorful clothes and decor.
✦ dislikes: cooking and baking (but still dislikes quick meals)| Metal music | Lazy or slob sims | Waking up late | Getting stuck in boring routines | Sunburn | Deception or pranks.
✦more facts: - Marley is from Oasis Spring, but has spent some years in Sulani and Selvadorada; - She used to share her adventures in a blog, but it became quite popular, so she started to write books about it and is going really great! - Has a tattoo on her leg that she made because her parents wouldn't approve one, now she regrets it and is thinking about getting another design on top; - Her twin brother Mitchell is a scientist and has two kids. Marley loves being "The Cool Auntie" but also wants to be "The Cool Mom" in the future.

Here we see a Mexican spadefoot toad [Spea multiplicata] sporting a large silver scar on his rear left hip. Like most toads, Mexican spadefoots are very hardy creatures. This toad was found in Animas, New Mexico, by Nick Dunham.

“Sick comedian Lenny Bruce sporting a wedding ring again. Who could this mystery lady be”
Wicked Wedding Bells?
L. Roy Dunham
Sicknick comedian Lenny Bruce showed up at his latest show wearing a brand new wedding ring though there have been no announcements of nuptials.
When pressed, the comedic bad boy gave an exaggerated shrug and responded "I wish I could tell you, but I really don't want to."
Could it be that long-thought paramour Miriam "Mrs. Maisel" Weissman is now the new Mrs. Bruce? And if so, does that mean her long husband hunt is finally over and she'll stop haunted the clubs and stages of Midtown?
One can only hope.
Either way, congratulations to the happy couple, I suppose.

knife shop | ingrid & felix
Felix doesn't often like the mall. It's crowded and noisy and there's too many kids. He grimaces a little while walking past the play area, where a bunch of toddlers are wrestling and jumping on top of each other in a pig pile. Thank the goddess Felix doesn't have to worry about fatherhood at all. Then again, he wouldn't mind adopting. Maybe he'd take his kid hunting some time.
The thought is kind of nice.
When he enters Dunham's Sports, he's surprised to spot Ingrid working back where the guns and knives are on display. He takes out his ID and slides it on the counter for her. "Here. I'm just here to look."
Ingrid turns and takes a glimpse at Felix's ID, which she checks out. "Of course you are," she answers, her voice light and teasing. "We've just sold the last iron sword today, but we have a pretty neat steel sword. Very durable."
"Can I hold it?" Felix's eyes seem to sparkle just a tad in curiosity.
Ingrid nods and walks over to the shelf where some swords are on display. She skims through the shelf, her hand tracing along the handle. She then picks it up and sets it gently on the counter. "Here. Just... try not to chop anyone's heads off."
Felix takes the sword carefully, checking it out for a moment. It's very beautiful and delicately crafted, made of some of the most expensive steel possible. And yet it's only a solid $275 USD. Most swords are too pricy nowadays, so Felix takes the chance. He signs all of the necessary forms and the sword is now his.
He decides to treat himself with adding a Diet Pepsi onto the bill.
"What do you need the sword for, anyways?" Ingrid asks curiously, tilting her head to the side.
Felix shrugs. "To cut cake with."
"What?"
"Lysithea asked me to buy something to cut her dumb cake with. So, I bought a sword."
Ingrid face palms. "You could've saved over two hundred by getting an iron kitchen knife, Felix."
"They aren't as cool though."

A Racine man has been accused of firing a fully automatic gun multiple times at Lockwood Park in Racine.
Malik T. Kentle, 23, of the 2800 block of Arlington Avenue, was charged with felony counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety; possession of a firearm by a felon; and selling/possessing/using/transporting a machine gun in addition to a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
According to a criminal complaint:
At 7 p.m. on May 30, officers were sent to the 300 block of Oregon Street next to Lockwood Park for shots fired. Multiple people were at Lockwood Park when it happened, and witnesses said after a few shots there was another round of shots that sounded like a fully automatic firearm.
When officers arrived, they found 19 9mm casings and eight .45 ACP casings in the street.
Surveillance video showed a silver Malibu Maxx parked on Westway Avenue with two men in the car. Both exited and walked toward Lockwood Park before firing several shots into the park. The two then ran toward Westway Avenue.
Witnesses said they both had black hoodies with writing on them that said "Long Live" someone. A woman said she felt bullets pass right by her face and thought that they were targeting others who were in the parking lot.
An investigator was able to identify the driver of the Malibu as Kentle by watching surveillance video from a Walmart in Kenosha that showed him exit the same car. On June 24, an investigator saw the Malibu drive to Regency Mall. The investigator learned that Kentle went to Dunham's Sports and bought a 5.56/.223 caliber 30-round M16/AR-15 magazine, a foregrip for a rifle and an A-TAC single point tactical rifle sling. Kentle is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
The investigator obtained a search warrant for Kentle's cellphone location and learned the cellphone was in the area of Lockwood Park during the shooting. Kentle was then arrested on July 25 and his vehicle was searched. Inside was 2.6 grams of marijuana, an empty 9mm Glock magazine, and a black hoodie and gray hoodie with "Long Live Reese" written on the sleeve.
Kentle denied knowing anything about the shooting and claimed he was not at Lockwood Park.
When asked about the vehicle he was driving, he claimed he did not have a vehicle. He said he was getting rides from various people.
Kentle was given a $50,000 cash bond in Racine County Circuit Court on Tuesday. A preliminary hearing is on Aug. 10 at the Racine County Law Enforcement Center, online court records show.
Kentle has two prior felony burglary convictions in 2018 and 2015.

Judith Ann Jamison was born on May 10, 1943. She is a dancer and choreographer, known as a modern-based dancer though she early on studied ballet and as the Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She began her dance training at the Judimar School of Dance. There she studied with Marion Cuyjet who became one of her early mentors. Under Cuyjet's tutelage, she studied classical ballet and modern dance. The Judimar studios were treated as a "holy place" and there was always a sense of performance and theatricality in Cuyjet's classes. By age eight, she began dancing on pointe and started taking classes in tap, acrobatics, and Dunham technique. Cuyjet began sending her to other teachers to advance her dance education. She learned the Cechetti method from Antony Tudor, founder of the Philadelphia Ballet Guild, and studied with Delores Brown Abelson, a graduate of Judimar who pursued a performance career in New York City before returning to Philadelphia to teach. She was a member of numerous sports organizations, the Glee Club, and the Philadelphia String Ensemble. She studied Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a system that teaches rhythm through movement. At 17, she graduated from Judimar and began her collegiate studies at Fisk University. After three semesters there, she transferred to the Philadelphia Dance Academy. In addition to her technique classes, she took courses in Labanotation, kinesiology, and other dance studies. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #deltasigmatheta https://www.instagram.com/p/CdYEV8xrtXpThlKWSiMmaIqkZgY5YiMRaKmTec0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Cuba for Christ
Tumblr media
It is that time once again as I travel to Cuba to serve with the sports ministry there.  I ask that you join me in prayer for this ministry as well as for this trip.
1 Corinthians 1:4  NLT
I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus.
Pray for the FCA sports ministry staff in Cuba and their families.  This coming weekend most of these families will meet together for learning, encouragement and to seek the Lord together.  God builds teams so that they can use their gifts and calling to impact their communities and more with the message of Christ.  Jesus built His disciples, and it is a join in a similar way to see God build this team.
Pray for those who are traveling for this particular Cuba FCA sports ministry event.  Two of us from the United States as well as many across Cuba will be traveling to be together, to teach and to plan for even more ministry to athletes and coaches in various sports.  All need to know the goodness of God.
Pray for the country of Cuba.  There are so many economic difficulties that continue.  Food is hard to find and very sparse.  Pray for the FCA to have what their families need.  Pray for those they serve to be given even more food to help them.  Another issue is transportation.  It is very hard to travel.  Pray for safety and wisdom.  Pray for health care needs.  Ask God to bring healing and peace to those in need.
Pray for those who do not know Jesus to come to know Him.  The Bible tells us that Salvation is free to all who will call on God, but how can they call on God when they do not know Him (Romans 10:14).  That is why this ministry and so many others seek to share the Gospel of Jesus with as many people as possible.
Thank you for your prayers and support for this ministry and my call to serve with the sports ministry team in Cuba.  I am humbled and grateful.  Over the next two weeks there will not be e-devotions, but there will be some of the e-devotion minutes videos on Facebook.  Please check those out on my page.
One of the exciting things about this trip is that Alex who is the director of sports ministry in Cuba will be returning to the United Stats with me to visit our area and others.  Pray for this important trip and for Alex and his family.
Lamentations 2:19  NLT
Rise during the night and cry out. Pour out your hearts like water to the Lord. Lift up your hands to him in prayer, pleading for your children, for in every street they are faint with hunger.
May we be people of prayer.  Pray for those in need.  Pray for ourselves.  Most of all pray that God will get all the glory.  May the life of Christ become even more real to those we meet including the people of Cuba.
Prayer List:
Kati Whitlow and family in death of two family members, Tracy Harms’ back surgery, Fred Spencer’s back surgery, Cuba FCA team and mission trip, Cathy Dunham’s sister Leslie, Kasim Adams’ hip surgery, Jenny Biggs, Amanda Hutchinson, Danny and Kathy Wilson, Anita Martin, Cathie Carter, Valerie Hirtriter, Lauren Whorley, 5 year old Ava, Timmy Howell, Dionna Cameron, Ricky Burnette, Felecia Watkins, Steve Bradshaw, and Ron Harris.

The bidirectional interaction of Oriental aesthetics and the evolution of European Chinoiserie in cultural dialogue
In 18th-century Europe, Chinoiserie and Orientalism emerged as a distinctive and captivating cultural phenomenon. This trend viewed the Far East, particularly China, as a mysterious and alluring place, brimming with exotic charm. Interestingly, Orientalism was not merely a one-way cultural borrowing, but rather involved bidirectional cultural exchange. In Europe, people not only attempted to Europeanize Chinese imagery but also creatively blended Chinoiserie into the mainstream aesthetic trends of Europe, allowing it to flourish in various forms and patterns. This bidirectional cultural interaction was evident not only in artistic works but also permeated into architectural design and daily life.
Tumblr media
Characteristics of Eurocentric Chinoiserie not only involve the Europeanization of Chinese imagery but also sometimes prompt Europeans to assume Chinese roles. In the portrait of Thomas Keymer at Dunham Massey, the subject possesses the rosy cheeks typical of European classical oil paintings, wears a Chinese embroidered robe, and sports a conical summer hat adorned with a red silk cord, presenting an enticing “dual” image. This may suggest Keymer’s success in Chinese trade, depicting his familiarity with China while presenting him to the viewer with a hint of “exoticism” and “homeliness.” As a deliberately theatrical portrayal, this portrait also appears to be a playful expression of the exploratory spirit of Orientalism in the mid-18th century.
Chinoiserie evolved gradually with the increasing ease of cultural exchange between East and West. In the mid-20th century, ChuCui Palace pioneered the innovative combination of Chinoiserie with traditional Chinese ink painting, using Western jewelry craftsmanship as a medium to bridge the European-centric Europeanization of Chinese imagery associated with Chinoiserie. Instead, they created works that were more precise, embodying the essence of Eastern aesthetic sensibilities.
Tumblr media
“The Dancing in Clouds” necklace embodies the most distinct features of Eastern art, integrating the Eastern aesthetic pursuit of tension in lines into its creation. The piece is solely interpreted through curves, which is not only a characteristic of Chinoiserie aesthetics but also reflects the Eastern underlying logic of gazing upon “nature” — as there are few straight lines in “nature.”
The artwork ingeniously incorporates Chinese ink painting, borrowing the pure and indifferent expression of clear ink in traditional ink painting to depict the emergence and nobility of the crane. The fullness of the tail feathers contrasts with the simplicity of the neck, creating tension in the form of lines. This tension, essentially, is an understanding and refinement of a supernatural relationship, symbolizing emergence, lightness, and cultural reflection derived from the tangible form of the crane. The unique and serene colors distinguish it as a form of expression, enveloping subtle emotions and cultural nuances. Its essence of Chinoiserie delves deep into the ancient and distant cultures of the East, infusing enduring life into a reinterpreted color and form, thus imbuing this ancient fashion with a modern sensibility.
The construction of Chinese-style pavilions in British gardens can be traced back to the 1730s, and this fashion continued to be popular in Britain in the 1740s and 1750s. The decorative features seen in these designs, such as concave roofs, upturned eaves, dragon motifs, bells, and lattice work, quickly became accepted standard forms for any garden architecture considered to have a “Chinese” style. It is unclear what triggered the taste for authentic Chinese-style garden pavilions, but it may be related to the publication of popular illustrated books about China. In the 1740s and 1750s, the trend of constructing Chinese-style pavilions in British gardens can be seen as a kind of playful hybridity, where designers adeptly “dressed up” Palladian structures from the 1720s to 1750s with a Chinese appearance.
Tumblr media
In the design of the “China House” at Wollaton Hall in 1752, Chinoiserie had already surpassed simple borrowing of Chinese elements and was rapidly becoming an independent visual language. The “Chinese” features of this style included upturned eaves, undulating rooflines, bells, and lattice work. In the Wollaton design, the building exhibited typical symmetrical features of Palladian style, with pointed and patterned motifs displaying distinct Rococo influences, while the tile-shaped ornaments (or curved decorations) on the roof and trefoil-shaped arched windows demonstrated a preference for Gothic style at that time. While the Chinese characteristics of this small pavilion may not be entirely authentic, its style is unique and coherent.
(Palladian architecture derives from the works of the Venetian architect Andrea Palladio (1508–1580), an architectural style in Europe. Today recognized Palladian architecture style is evolved from his concepts on symmetry, perspective, and formal classical architectural principles derived from ancient Greek and Roman traditions. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Palladio’s interpretation of this classical architecture evolved into a style known as Palladianism.)
In the evolution of Chinoiserie in Europe, artworks have witnessed the exchange and fusion of Eastern and Western cultures. From Orientalism in the 18th century to ChuCui Palace in the mid-20th century, these artistic creations are not only about the Europeanization of Chinese imagery but also represent a transcendent cultural dialogue and aesthetic exploration across time and space. They are not just artworks but also witnesses of history, documenting humanity’s pursuit of beauty and exploration of the unknown. Just as Chinoiserie presents, cultural exchange should not be one-sided but rather reciprocal and inclusive. It is through this mutual borrowing and mutual inspiration in cultural exchange that Eastern beauty and Western beauty permeate and enrich each other, collectively shaping the colorful tapestry of human civilization.
