What he basically said was that he had very long hair at the time, so when he told them he got the role in Dunkirk, they thought he’d be waving the soldiers off at the station. Here’s the clip of him telling the story to Nick Grimshaw on the BBC special for the release of HS1.

another random comment about leif garrett hehe but I think we as a fandom greatly underestimate how big of a star leif was in the 70s and early 80s. LIKE..tommy howell has been posting some videos from around the time the film came out (literally 41 years ago today happy bday girl!) and everyone is screaming for leif lmao. he literally has to introduce the cast to fans dhdjdjd he's like "oh and this is ralph and patrick" as if that's not The Patrick Swayze and The Karate Kid
