When you want to write “water, please” but your German keyboard autocorrects to waterboarding
Duolingo making sure I know the important stuff.
When I finally get to meet my biological gran in Italy, I’ll also be meeting my aunt and she’s vegan too! Wooo! Salad party!
ITS HOOTY AND DUO Y’ALL MY 8 YEAR OLD SISTER DREW HOOTY AND DUO
I AM SO SORRY @danaterrace
So it’s the first of March, and I’m ready to start regularly posting on my blog! I really hope that getting my thoughts out will help my intrapersonal relations, which is something that I normally struggle with, but if anyone wants to talk or be friends on this platform I’m really excited for that! I also think that maybe I’ll start posting some of my fiction/poetry here, if that is something people would be interested in?
Yesterday I managed to finish the first draft of my ECP which is really exciting, as well as leveling out of the Pearl league on Duolingo, which I’ve struggled with for a while. Moving into March I’m feeling productive, and excited to work in my last (active) month of university. This month I want to achieve writing two essays - one for my Creative Visions module, and one for Creative Vigilance - editing my ECP, and creating my final rational. When I break it down like that it all seems so do-able, which makes me really happy!
This week I have seven hours of online lectures, and one online meeting, and the rest is left up to me. That, paired with (hopefully) working towards 1000XP of Spanish a day should keep me busy in academic terms.
I’ve also decided, as per my resolutions post, that I want to be more active, so am setting myself a goal of walking five miles a day. My dad is doing a walking challenge with his work where he should walk one-hundred-and-fifty miles in two months, and naturally I want to do better than him. On Friday last week we walked a pretty easy eight and a half miles round trip to a neighbour town, so I don’t think it should be too hard. I think I’ll write a post about walking in general because I do really enjoy it, and not being at work I am certainly noticing how much less I’m on my feet. This morning I walked about two and a half miles, and I plan to do the same this evening.
Another fun thing that’s coming up is that I’m moving back to my flat in Winchester on Saturday, meaning I’ll be gaining my independence, and I’ll be able to see some of my friends in class. I’ll also be able to cook more, as well as spend time at the library which I’m super excited for.
Anyway, I think that’s all I’ve got to say for now, but it was nice to check in! If you want to ask me anything my inbox is open!

i never have to do this again
I Cymraeg-ed myself into a seizure, briefly touched the top of the gold leaderboard and will never touch it again ❤
7,000th post, here goes…courtesy of tonight’s Duolingo…
I get Comte Ory vibes from this
Duolingo will probably have Cornish before it has Tagalog. Maybe it’ll throw in Quenya and Old Norse.
It has Valyrian for the ‘cool’ facto, a language from a major television show. How about Xhosa which is a language spoken in an freakin Avengers movie and is a real language spoken today??
I love that I’m learning Irish. But meanwhile Quecha for Spanish speakers could be used so much more because there are in fact many households in places like Bolivia where Quecha is spoken at home and Spanish spoken at school.
And I don’t even pretend to know a fraction of the languages left out from Africa, off the top of my head Yuroba and Hausa. For South Asia all I know is Bengali is spoken by millions of people and that’s just one of the languages.
But it’ll be Scots next even though they’ve got both Irish AND Gaelic.
@spiderfingerzzzzz the bird hasn’t tried to kill me yet so things seem to be going good so far
I forgot to take a screenshot but I was on Irish Duolingo earlier when I got a quote like “You drink and you learn” which just sounds like an Irish version of “fuck around and find out”
I’ve fallen so far down the Duolingo rabbit hole that I keep automatically translating the subtitles in BL shows into Spanish in my head🤦♀️
it’s the year of Our Lord 2021 and my stupid, stupid ass still saw this and translated it, out loud, as “but I am le tired”.
I think Duolingo is getting mad that I’ve been slacking off
You’ve got to love that Duolingo accepts ‘[half the Italian phrase] awww feck’ as the right answer.
I might get first in diamond! I did like 600 XP today to get to the top, and I’ll probably do another couple hundred tomorrow to make sure I keep it.
