Six Sentence Sunday
Sharing excerpts from works in progress and completed stories under the cut. The most recent addition is in bold.
Snow White & Rose Red, Chapter 1:
Once upon a time in a cottage in the woods lived two lovely girls and their mother. The older girl was named Rose Red because when she was born she had the prettiest little red lips and rosy cheeks. Just so people would be sure to remember her name her mother made her a red cloak to wear when she went to town for her. Rose Red grew to be a beautiful young lady with lovely auburn locks and shining sapphire blue eyes. The younger girl was named Snow White for when she was born both her skin and hair was white as snow. Like her sister, her mother made her a white cloak.
WIP
Silver and Gold, Chapter 1:
On the first fine Spring day Bilbo, Balin, and Gandalf left Erebor; Bilbo to return to his home in the Shire, Balin to summon the Durinfolk to their ancient home, and Gandalf to go wherever it is wizards go. Dori was never certain where it was Gandalf got off to and wasn’t sure he cared as it reminded him too much of Nori’s old rambling ways. All he knew was that it seemed rather irresponsible to go off somewhere else when one was expected and/or needed elsewhere.
That was why he had waited so long.
Dori hugged his family and friends and perhaps blubbered a bit about their leaving and his own. He would miss them all.
WIP
Jackdaw:
In and out. In and out.
Dori would never approve if he knew, but Nori needed this. Mahal, how he needed this! He loved the thrill of it. He was breathless from the anticipation of it and his heart raced in the act of it.
Available for early access for $1 patrons. There is a teaser, a bit longer than this, available on AO3.
A Gypsy’s Dance:
Except for the tinkling of the bells about her ankles, her feet added almost no sound to the percussion of her dance. She didn’t need it what with the clacking of her many bracelets, the soft zyee-zyee of the coined belt and trim of her bodice, and the jingle and tap of the tamborine with its long streamers that she employed during the day. At night she had the little finger cymbals and the clapping along by the men of the village who had only given the gypsies looks of disdain during the day. No, the night was another matter entirely. Something in the gypsy music called the men from their judgment and brought them to the gypsy camp where they would toss coins at the feet of the dancers when the tempo of the music changed to something that aroused an unfamiliar feeling in the dwarf.
It had taken Bofur all of two days or perhaps two nights to get the feel for the exotic rhythms of the gypsies enough for him to join in with his pipe.
Early access phase for $3 patrons.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 1:
Hobbiton was indeed everything Hamfast had described and more now that she was seeing it with her own eyes. Gigi Gamgee had been raised in the seemingly endless fields of crops and sprawling hills of Gamwich which were much farther apart than the Hobbit holes of Hobbiton. In Gamwich, the nearest neighbor was miles away and it might take the better part of the day to get there. There was no marketplace, no township proper. In harvest season families alternated which home would host The Grand Luncheon and they would all take their carts of excess produce to trade. Depending on the ability of the cooks of the family, business would conclude just in time for afternoon tea or could go as late as after supper.
Chapter 1 is available to read in full on AO3.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 2:
“That’ll put her off, don’t you think?” Gigi asked as they hurried through the marketplace.
“Only a bit.” Hamfast pulled them behind a large cart of hay and watched from behind. “And not for long. She won’t give up.”
“We’re gonna get it when she catches us then. I’ll be out on my ear and you’ll be out of a job.” Gigi sighed. She could not even imagine the trouble they were going to be in when the nearest relative of their Master found out they had lied.
Chapter 2 is available to read on AO3.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 3:
Now Gigi had spent the entirety of her stay wondering about Bilbo Baggins. When she had her hands in the rich, moist dirt of his kitchen garden she couldn’t understand how a Hobbit who had worked the same ground could think of leaving. Of course he left it in the capable hands of her cousin, so it would be well cared for, but who would possibly leave a garden in Spring? Who could? It must have been a terribly important errand or he was a decidedly careless Hobbit. Certainly she heard rumors he was a little odd, but as she felt the warm sun on her back, the cool, pliant earth between her fingers, witnessed the full greening and vibrant colors, and scented the fragrant breezes that whispered of flowers along the lane and pies cooling in windows, no one could be so foolish or odd as to leave a place that told every sense one was home.
Early access of this chapter is available for $3 patrons.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 4:
They’d been afraid of this. Lobelia insisting on a public outing that could only result in a Gamgee ousting. Half of Hobbiton was inside Bag End, with the Gaffer trying to stop the flow and stop the stomping of the flower beds. Bilbo would be angry if he knew how many people and that there was more than one Sackville-Baggins in his house at one time. It worried him, Bilbo’s coming back at that exact moment more than all of Lobelia’s carrying on.
She spied the marriage certificate on his desk and was sputtering mad when she saw Bilbo’s name in his own handwriting.
Early access to this chapter is available for $3 patrons.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 5:
Gigi wasn’t sure how it had happened or why, but she had fallen in love with a Hobbit she had never met. Perhaps it was just the beauty of Bag End and the excitement of Hobbiton. Perhaps it was all of that reading she’d been doing about daring adventurers and not having a face to go with their name, she had put an image of Bilbo there in her mind. Perhaps it was all the letter writing she’d been doing. She’d often work in the garden imagining the dear letters he would write so she could pen a response that would convince anyone that they’d had a courtship through their correspondence.
Hamfast thought she had overdone it, but she told him that though he was the cleverest Hobbit she knew, he knew nothing about love.
Early access to this chapter is available for $3 patrons.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 6:
Bilbo’s adventure being over for the time, he found himself in a sort of strange melancholy. He had bid farewell to Balin and Gandalf and came upon The Shire alone. He had always preferred his solitude, but it felt suddenly abrupt and sad to no longer have his traveling companions. He had become accustomed to the boisterous dwarves and the silence of his own leaving was profound. He spoke briefly to a few Hobbits as he traveled toward Hobbiton, but it wasnt the same. They hadn’t shared in his last year nor had any sort of adventure of their own and he felt very alone.
Early access to this chapter is available for $3 patrons.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 7:
Bilbo watched her run away and realized his mistake immediately. He shook his head and looked at the ground with consternation. No, that wasn’t quite right. He knew even as he had been speaking, his tone becoming more and more raised, that he was in the wrong but had not been able to stop himself. He had been quite thrown off by her, whoever she was. He tapped his foot considering for just a moment, looked at his still locked door, and let out an exasperated huff.
Early access to this chapter is available for $3 patrons.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 8:
“All right! All right!” Hamfast grumbled at the persistent knocking on his door at an hour altogether inappropriate for a Hobbit to be calling unless it was an emergency. Regardless of cause, it disturbed his well-earned rest.
“I have decided—” Bilbo began and then began stammering even as his thought dissolved under Hamfast’s irritated, sleepy glare as he realized once again he was not in the company of Dwarves, but of gentle Hobbitfolk and his behavior was entirely inappropriate. Still, his adventure had changed him.
Early access to this chapter is available for $3 patrons.
An Unexpected Return, Chapter 9:
Bilbo troubled himself well into what was left of the night wondering if he had not just made a bigger mistake by continuing the ruse. After all couldn’t they have explained later that she had removed herself from Bag End and just let everyone suppose she had become upset with his long journey, and rightfully so! No Hobbit-wife would allow her husband to go off on such an adventure and if he did anyway, none would put up with his being gone so long. No one would have thought a thing of her leaving him, returning home to her parents.
They could have either left it at that or explained tomorrow that she was simply minding his home while he was away and that he himself had come up with the notion for her to tell folks she was his wife so as to prevent property disputes while he was gone. They certainly couldn’t do that now, what with her under the same hill as him.
Early access to this chapter will be available to $3 patrons in September.

What We Became Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Ro – 30 (looks 15)
Kíli – 40 (looks 20)
Fíli – 45 (looks about 21)
Ro busied herself with her studies.
Her aptitude for healing had been apparent at a very young age. Her mum and da were very supportive of her studies. They didn’t expect her to follow in their footsteps. She wasn’t big enough to be a guard. Sure she could take down a dwarf her age if she tried, but she had just rather not. She was sneaky enough to train to be a spymaster, but she was horrible at keeping secrets that weren’t her own.
Speaking of secrets…
She sensed them before they came up from behind her in the library. Ro smirked. Her ears were a lot better than everyone else’s too. They were pointed, which is why some of the nastier dwarrow called her ‘tree shagger’ behind her back, and excellent at picking up the tiniest noises.
Ro turned around and smiled at her favorite dwarrow after her parents. Kíli had actually been attempting to sneak up on her while Fíli was simply trying to be quiet. Even though they had their own duties to attend to, they always made time for her.
“Hey, Ro Underfoot,” Kíli smiled easily, wrapping her up in a hug. “Still burying your nose in your books?”
She sniffed at the nickname. “Of course. You could learn a thing or two from me you know. Uncle Balin might not have to whack you upside the head as often.”
Kíli gave her a mock look of horror while Fíli shook his head and chuckled.
“Don’t laugh, Fí. Besides, aren’t you supposed to meet with Adrina soon?” Kíli snickered, elbowing his brother in the side.
Ro’s stomach knotted for only a moment.
Adrina and her family had come to Ered Luin ten years ago and Ro had disliked her immediately.
It wasn’t that Adrina was mean, per say. However she hated how Adrina seemed to think her some sort of charity case. Oh, she never said it out loud or to Ro’s face, but she knew. The dam would alway comment on how lucky Ro was to be taken in by Durinfolk and how lucky she was to have the princes for friends.
Ro knew it was. If it weren’t for her mum, she’d have frozen with Belladonna and Bungo (that had been a rather difficult conversation and Fíli had had to leave his studying to find her). She knew she was lucky. She knew in all respect the princes shouldn’t be as close to her as they were. But they were her best friends. She hated how Adrina made her feel beneath them.
It didn’t help that she seemed to take up ALL of Fíli’s time since she came. She would pull him along and push Ro and Kíli to spend more time together.
It’s not that Ro didn’t like spending time with Kíli. She loved pulling pranks with him and giving Thorin grey hairs. But she wanted Fíli there too. Kíli made Ro feel as light as air whenever they had their adventures. But Fíli made her feel grounded. Safe.
It didn’t help that Adrina was the epitome of dwarven beauty. Basically everything Ro wasn’t. Even Kíli thought she was pretty and he thought dams were annoying at best. Fíli never commented on her looks but his face always turned red when the dam would wrap her arms around one of his and press her chest against his bicep.
Fíli groaned. “I’d much rather hang out with you two.” He ruffled Ro’s hair and she felt her cheeks redden. Luckily, Fíli didn’t see. “She wants me to help her with test with Balin coming up.”
“She wants to become an advisor, doesn’t she?” Ro asked, jerking her head away and fixing her hair. It was so easy for them because their hair was slightly wavy. Her curls were nearly unmanageable but she wasn’t old enough to put in an elaborate braid yet.
“You’ll have to see her every day when you’re king then Fí,” Kíli smirked.
Fíli sighed. “Just one of the many things I have to do.”
“We have time though, right?” Ro asked.
Fíli smiled. “Always for you little Ro. Always.”

Song of Durinfolk after the Fall of Erebor
The sun bleeds in the morning
Late had come the warning
No time left for mourning
For those who had died
The sky at dawn is burning
we are not returning
fallen, we are learning
the cost of Dwarven pride
For what was all that hoarding
And all that watchful guarding
There’ll be no rewarding
Of those who had died
(Remember that I have learned English from reading so my knowledge how English words sound is somewhat limited. Any concrit on this poem would be most welcome. I want to use it in my fic:))

Tag List Update!
Hello everyone!
I recently edited my tag list so now there's an outline where you can just click which tag list you want to check out and make sure you got added to it without having to scroll through the entire document.
I also added "Group Tags" as a thing now, since I have had someone in the past just want to be tagged in all of the elves, so I went ahead and made its own category. There are 3 group tag options now, the Durinfolk, the Dwarves, and the Elves. I'm thinking of doing one like "Side characters" too, like Beorn, Smaug, Bard, Gandalf, etc? I would love your guys' feedback on if I should do it or not!

They hadn’t shared in his last year nor had any sort of adventure of their own and he felt very alone.

The entirety of chapter 2 is available on Patreon as early access for $1 patrons. There is a longer teaser available on AO3.
He spoke briefly to a few Hobbits as he traveled toward Hobbiton, but it wasn’t the same. They hadn’t shared in his last year nor had any sort of adventure of their own and he felt very alone.

I am currently reworking all of Snow White & Rose Red and the following books that came from it: SW & the Seven Dwarves, SW & the Golden Apple, SW & the Queen’s Companion, and SW & the King’s Portrait so it’ll be quite a while before those are re-released.
Silver and Gold is a story about Dori going out in search of his One once his brothers are settled in Erebor. It’s a rather lengthy work in progress (over 34K words) and I’m not sure when I’ll release that one as there’s not a lot of demand for stories with Dori as the romantic hero, or rather, there is more demand for other dwarves.
The first chapter of An Unexpected Return is available for everyone to read on AO3, along with a teaser of the second chapter. The second and third chapters are available for early release to my patrons on Patreon, as is A Gypsy’s Dance. Chapter Four of An Unexpected Return will also be early access reading for patrons in April. <3

Thorin found her alone and he wasn’t going to waste it. He walked up to her from behind. She was too intent on her drawing to know he was there.

Rose Red grew to be a beautiful young lady with lovely auburn locks and shining sapphire blue eyes.
The younger girl was named Snow White for when she was born both her skin and hair was white as snow. Like her sister, her mother made her a white cloak.
WIP- Reworking this entire series before re-release.
WIP- I keep going back and re-writing things.
Jackdaw:
In and out.

Chapter 1 is available to read on AO3.
The entirety of chapter 2 is available on Patreon as early access for $1 patrons. There is a longer teaser available on AO3.
