YawngClan is a Clan built from scratch, using the myths and legends of wild cats passed to help guide their way, by a small group of surviving loners (free-roamers) and pets (kittypets) after surviving a monster crash. Far away from home and having no knowledge of their current location, these cats are determined to survive where their companions who had died in the crash could not. With Amber as their leader, Koi at his side, and eight other cats backing them, the story of YawningClan begins.

Some notes about the founders:

Amber goes by Amber/Amberstar for the first several moons as a courtesy to the stories they're using to help guide the building of their Clan; however, after Amber gains official leader status, he earns the name Amberfather and 8 lives, hence the information on his card

Mumblemeadow swaps between being a warrior and medicine cat for the first few moons, hence the combination title on his card

Skippaw becomes a warrior only a moon after the Clan's founding, so I felt like it was worth putting her warrior name on her card

Snowkit doesn't realize they're trans until early into their apprenticeship but it makes me uncomfortable referring to them by their dead pronouns, so I'll be referring to them using they/them or he/him from the jump; similarly, Fogpaw doesn't realize they're trans until a little bit into their apprenticeship, but I will be referring to her as she/her from the jump

Fogpaw was made a medicine cat apprentice a moon early at the Clan's founding (Moon 00) due to necessity

While being referred to YawningClan from the jump to keep from future confusion, the group does not settle on a name or Clan status until several moons after their founding; similarly, the Clan’s leader Amberstar/Amberfather does not gain true leadership status or their lives until several moons into leading, nor do the cats settle into proper Clan naming rituals and roles for a while. It’s also worth noting that while this is a Clangen blog, I’m mostly using Clangen for cat generation and relationship-building purposes, while the overall plot of YawningClan’s founding will veer quite a ways away from Clangen and canon Clan norms as moons progress. A new starpath (religion), new roles, new naming rituals, etc. This blog is to tell the founding story of modern-day YawningClan, a Clan that I’m developing using Clan canons as starting points and guidelines but not much else, lol. YawningClan is also inspired by and inspiration for a Warriors-themed D&D homebrew that I’m working on building (while learning D&D in the process lol), so there may be some references to that on occasion and even art of the Yawning cats drawn as humans, anthros, tabaxis, etc. I’m just here to have fun and vibe tbh, but I hope y’all have a good time vibing with me!

Please tell me somwthing good happens to Hawkwing! I know a lot of his writing is crappy (with Pebblepaw especially, but the writer's views on romance in general is... iffy) but he is one of my blorbos. I love what he says about grieving, that he likes remembering her.

I just... wish he and Pebbleshine wwren't first cousins.

Well, quite a few things are going to happen to Hawkwing.

I need to properly read his super edition, but with the actual books?

He and Plumwillow are becoming mates! Sandynose is still the father of Plum's kittens, but they break up. She has fallen out of love with him. They get together during Squirrelflight's Freedom, noted by the Allegiances. Though, they aren't having more kits. They agree they have enough collectively. Also, side note, Plumwillow doesn't mentor anyone but Sunnypelt much later on. Just makes me feel a bit better.

He is featured more during The Broken Code, as he is Rootspring's grandfather, and I want Rootspring's family to actually get some focus instead of being props. He is a proper grandpa and spoils his grandchildren rotten whenever he can.

He gets a horrible wakeup call during his super edition, Hawkwing's Flight, when his father Sharpclaw joins The Kin. He is forced to kill his own father to protect those he cares about.

He and Pebbleshine have a different relationship story now. He is very awkward around her when they are young, but very kind to her. When he saves her, she is filled with guilt, but he lets her cry and grieve with him, as she and Duskpaw were incredibly close friends. His feelings are more consistent with what we see later on in AVOS. It hurts to lose his brother, but his brother would want to be remembered in a happy way, and his mentor helps him with that too. He isn't perfect, of course, and part of him WANTS to be mad at Pebblepaw. Hawkwing's Flight is about grief, and moving forward with it.

Speaking of Pebbleshine, no! He and Pebble are no longer related! Pebbleshine and Parsleyseed are now the children of Tinycloud and Canyonfang, an OC who joins the Kin... Or he would have if Tinycloud hadn't absolutely BODIED him. Tinycloud ain't no soft momma. (Also, while Sharpclaw x Cherrytail gives me the ick, Sparrowpelt x Tintcloud does as well. Age gap is shorter but unless it's a specific circumstance such as same age but one is just teaching the other, I'm never pairing apprentices and their mentors)

Hawkwing, Blossomheart, and Duskpaw are now the children of Sharpclaw and Ebonyclaw, who permanently joins Skyclan, but got into a very toxic relationship with Sharpclaw. He used her to appear better, as if he took a 'kittypet' mate, no one would suspect his hatred for them. (By the way, Cloudmist is now Cherrytail and Shrewtooth's kit, in case you wondered. She is so close with the SharpEbony litter she may as well be their sister though.)

He sadly is gonna have a rough go of thing's during A Starless Clan. Leafstar suffers a sudden heart attack due to the Starless Clan Curse activating, along with the fall from an incredibly high branch taking her final life. And just as he is about to step up and announce that he will take her place, Waspwhisker and the other missing cats enter the camp. So... Who has the rightful claim to leadership? Hawkwing has been deputy for a while now, sure, but it was always stated in the beginning that if Waspwhisker came back, it would go back to him...

Skyclan begins to split itself down the middle. One half vouching for Hawkwing, the other for Waspwhisker. The issues down in Riverclan and Shadowclan reaching their peaks as Hawkwing and Waspwhisker desperately try to keep the peace...

missing kits and apprentices

so, concerning the kits and apprentices we knew a bit (which means, not Adderkit who only appeared in a field guide, or Dewkit, who appeared a few chapters in shadow clan in OotS) what do you think their warrior names would have been?

here's my thoughts. I'm inventing everything except the names the characters had when they died.

Swiftpaw, most probably Swiftfoot. It just seems the most relevant name possible for a swift something. But i would have loved the badass vibe of a Swiftshade.

Gorsepaw: maybe Gorsepelt? It would be a normal name for a first arc cat.

Snowkit: I don't think Bluestar or Firestar would have named him something like Snowear. I think it would have been Snowfeather.

Shrewpaw? I'd bet on a Shrewfoot or a Shrewpelt.

Hollykit and Larchkit: we didn't know them much, but we know their whole family so I think we can imagine. Hollykit would have probably be named as Hollyfang, because we don't know enough ''fang''. As for Larchkit, it would have been Larchflight.

Same with Hopekit and Wishkit, didn't know them enough but I think Yellowfang would have had some influence on their adult names behind the scenes. Hopesong and Wishflight.

Ok you know what when we know a bit about their background I'mma name them anyway.

Mistystar's kits Perchkit, Primrosepaw and Pikepaw. Perchfur. Primeroseleaf. Pikefoot.

Petalkit, Patchkit, Larchkit, kits of Mapleshade and Appledusk: Petalheart, Patchtail and Larchheart.

Duskpaw, Duskfall. He was silly and naive so not a claw, and with the names of his littermates (mist, heart and wing) I don't see him being something else than ''fall''. I could have seen Duskcloud but his sister is Cloudmist.

Lynxkit, brother of Swiftpaw? Lynxheart.

Mosskit, daughter of Bluestar? Mossfur, after Snowfur.

Molepaw, son of Sorreltail? Molefang. Idk it sounds like the most pleasing on sounds.

Willowkit and Minnowkit, Silverstream's siblings? Willowstorm and Minnowheart, I think. After Oakheart and Storm/Crooked.

Mintkit and Marigoldkit, whom Brokenstar accused Yellowfang of having killed? Mintflower and Marigoldshine.

Had it not been for Lilyheart becoming Lilyheart, I would have named Seedpaw Seedheart. But then let's see what else could be classy, and oooh what about Seedclaw?

Talonpaw, who died ambushed by the vicious kittypets on the lake territory, would have been named Talonleap because I say so. His brother Smokepaw? Smokesight.

Sweetpaw, sister of Thistleclaw? Sweetleaf.

that's all I've got to say about warrior younglings.

Cherrytail and her brother Sparrowpelt, then her mate Sharpclaw, and his mother Jessamy and sister Flower. Tinycloud and Sparrowpelt are mates, and Rockshade and Bouncefire are Tinycloud's brothers. Cherrytail and Sharpclaw's kits, Hawkwing, Cloudmist, Duskpaw, and Blossomheart, and Hawkwing's mate Pebbleshine. Duskpaw and Dawnpaw! I remade some old warrior cat ocs from ages ago. My deaf boy named Silentstep and his sister Lightheart.

Sadly I never got the chance to develop Light and Silent's relationship as siblings. I wanted to remake them.

Silentstep had a rough backstory and I feel he deserved a better life. Now he's best friends with his sister, and no longer had his named changed to Silentpaw by his ablest father.

Not sure if I'll ever roleplay with Duskpaw and Dawnpaw but I love them.
