This is a typical Öland stump mill with a couple of stones for grinding pits. It is such a mill that was found on most Öland farms in the 19th century. After many repairs, the Crown Prince is in paintable condition, as evidenced by the small weathervane in the shape of a sack of flour.
The crown prince has its origins in the late 1800s. The last person who used the mill for grinding gröpe is said to have been Gottfrid Petersson, Björnhovda 2:4 (Norrgården). Lawrence Nilsson handed over the mill to the home village association in 1943.
The Crown Prince is the northernmost of the Torslunda local community's mills along road 136 near Björnhovda.
this is an au setting my wife and i made up and we throw different characters into it sometimes bc its a fun way to study character tropes and such <3
the basis is that everyone gets a like magic seed when theyre born and they plant the seed once they hit puberty and then as they grow, the plant grows with them and eventually spits out an animal to be their life companion, known as a familiar.
the familiar fully forms when the person feels like they've 'found' who they are. so for some people it can be while theyre in high school while for others it can take longer (or in some cases, never form). the animal has to be an animal the person as seen before with their own two eyes so its very common for teenagers to go on a 'familiar trip' when they're getting close to 18 to try and broaden their horizons and see a bunch of new creatures.
i wrote out a bunch abt the setting and nothing at all abt the character choices but this is too long so if u want to hear the list of match ups/my decisions pls ask me here or on @alwayscobrakai <3 all u Need to know is that daniel has a mongoose (ofc) and johnny has a hornet. thank u for ur time
Okay I literally love this video so imma point out my favorite parts (and two I don’t like)
“I’ll work a bunch of 17 year olds right now” okay but was it rlly necessary to kick Dutch in the balls TWICE😭
“Roiled up Zach Morris look alike” ZACH MORRIS?? IM SOBBING.
“Sprays him while he’s doing the ol’ get high pinch a loaf” STOP THE POOR JOINT
“Daniel shows off some dope ass knee juggling which in the 1980s was code for hey my mom is out of town on Saturday you wanna do sex?” The fact both Daniel and Johnny didn’t get Ali though
“Mr. Miyagi teaches him the good shit by making him paint a fence, wash his car, and pretend he’s in the opening credits to a cinematic flick called the boy down the street.” This could NOT be more accurate
“The cobra Kai shitbags” No. Just no. Theyre my princesses. Jimmy did no wrong. Dutch maybe Johnny maybe but they’re pretty so we let it slide.
“Johnny and his friends don’t like that *talking abt Daniel talking to Ali*” incorrect they pushed him down a hill bc he went to cobra kai. Also Ali deserved better prove me wrong (you can’t).
“Hey man sorry for all the attempted murders it’s hard to move across country you deserve happiness” this is so real but also Daniel deserved to get his ass kicked in the Halloween scene😚
The queen is a so-called Dutch mill. Until the middle of the 19th century, basically all windmills on Öland had been of the stump mill type. At this time they faced competition from the larger and more efficient Dutch mills. It is believed to have originally been developed in Holland during the 1570s. The construction of the Dutch mill differs from the stump mill in that it is only the top part, the cap, that is rotatable.
The queen was originally erected in Kalmar at the Postmaster's Luck near Sandås. Per Persson, the Scanian who was also the first miller to run the Kvarnkungen, moved the Queen across Kalmarsund in the 1880s to where it stands today. The queen was a toll mill, meaning that the farmers could come and grind their grain for a fee, a toll, usually in kind.
In 1923, Drottningen was taken over by Ernst Carlsson, who came from Skärlöv on Öland. When Ernst was in America, the Queen was leased by John Wahlström, who also owned the Kvarnkungen. Wheat was then ground into flour in Drottningen. The business continued until 1947. Ernst Carlsson sold Drottningen to Torslunda Hembygdsförening in 1957 for SEK 1,200. The association has subsequently carried out extensive maintenance on the mill.
Of the three mills that stand in Björnhovda next to road 136, Drottningen is the one in the middle. South of Drottningen stands Kvarnkungen. Farthest north is the Crown Prince. All three mills are owned and maintained by Torslunda Hembygdsförening.
