Sometimes the Dutch Winx dub will change a line to make it funnier, or sound more natural, or just work better in the language
And sometimes it's incredibly obvious a translator misheard a line in English, and that's how you get Stella saying gay shit like "Fly back with me" instead of "let's fight back"

Pretty much the only area where these dubs have the same energy. Rai!Stella my beloved
#the only English Winx va I truly love#anyway I've said before that I think the reason why English rai sounds the way it does isn't bc the va's aren't good#I just don't think they have proper context for what they're recording most of the time#which results in their delivery being kind of monotone and not matching what's happening on screen#meanwhile with the Dutch version I get the impression that not only do they have more context#they seem to have actually had the chance to watch at least some of the show in English#and that's never more obvious than with Stella#because the way the Dutch va delivers her lines is sometimes way too similar to that of the English version for it to be a coincidence#she's clearly taking cues from her in scenes like these where she was just so on point#so you end up with 2 Stella's with the same kind delivery in 2 languages and it's just such a delight for me to listen to#winx club#winx stella#dutch winx tag#might do more va comparisons like this possibly#I'm just worried it'll come across as mean-spirited#because unlike with Stella where I adore them both I have a pretty strong personal preference with every other voice

I found out Layla was called Aisha back when I was rewatching it as a 12 year old, and back then I just completely rejected it and kept calling her Layla because that was what I grew up with
However, when I got back into Winx last year I put a bit more thought into it and decided I wanted to respect the original and also that it was a bit sus that the black girl was the only one with the name change and into a much whiter sounding name at that*. So I started teaching myself to mentally call her Aisha even before her introduction in s1. Nowadays it's pretty automatic while typing, but when talking out loud I still accidentally say Layla from time to time. Nothing for it but to keep correcting yourself I suppose
*I am solely criticizing the English translators who decided on that here. Fans still knowing her as Layla out of childhood nostalgia are not responsible for this imo. I may have made a point out of learning to say Aisha, but I still call Huey, Dewey, and Louie Kwik, Kwek, and Kwak. That's just how it is sometimes

And done! Look, crapping on Sky is my favorite thing, but this is the one thing I think the fandom might be overly harsh on him for. Even in the 4kids edit that made it so that he left Bloom at CT it was still her idea.
