Day 4

Went home from college today! Not a lot of progress made, but I need off days. It’s good to spend time with family and relax away from school- so long as I keep my Duolingo streaks, of course ;)

So technically, I have 166 days until I go to Amsterdam, which is more than five months, but anyways- day 1

Today I decided I was going to learn Dutch. I’ve always been slightly interested, but now I’m determined to do it.

After a little time in front of my computer, pronunciation seems less overwhelming than I thought it would be. I’ve finished Basics 1 on Duolingo, and made quizlets I can study from until I feel I’ve mastered the grammar and vocab.

Duolingo isn’t the only step in my plan. It’s just the first. If anybody’s reading this, what resources do you use? How would you rate Duolingo?

Day 3

Hello everybody!

Today I focused on studying pronunciation. I’ve got the hang of dipthongs for the most part! But not triple vowel ones. All in good time, I guess...

Duo’s been very happy with me lately. If I can master basic pronunciation rules by tomorrow, perhaps I can start studying the “het of de” rules. Let me know if anybody wants a link to my quizlet :)

I’m really excited to be able to actually be able to say something other than “Een bin een vrouw en him is een man.” Soon I’ll start with Memrise. Although, I’m not sure how much of that is free.

Are there any other good resources for learning Dutch? I’ve been looking around but haven’t found much.

It’s the weekend, everybody! I hope we can all get some rest. ☺️
