So, everyone has pointed out how funny it is that fifteen claimed to have gone through therapy and be fine now only to immediately act just like his old traumatised self and it is but like…

Has anyone considered fifteen was lying?

What if he hasn’t actually experienced that domestic bliss that fourteen got to enjoy or have fourteens memories following their split at all?What if he just told fourteen he did to convince him to stay on earth and be happy so fourteen could have a chance at happiness that fifteen believes he will never have and doesn’t deserve and his seemingly incredibly upbeat personality is just a facade?

I mean this sounds incredibly in character for the doctor to me tbh

I imagine Donna to still eventually ask what the doctor has been up to. Maybe she does so while they're stuck doing a chore together like the laundry or dishes. And the doctor will try to avoid it like he always does, but caves under Donna's stare. He'd still keep it vague, speaking more about the companions the toymaker spoke of and cautiously daring to honour their memory like that while keeping himself away from the hurtful bits. He even jokes a bit about who he ended up becoming. He'd admit he had an obsession with bowties and had sonic sunglasses once, and Donna would laugh and say she'd LOVE to see that.

Then, after a pause, Donna asks if he's ever stumbled upon her with a different face, and with a hushed breath he admits he hasn't.

She grows a bit silent, grieving a thought she wished were reality. And then the doctor pipes up again.

"This isn't actually the first familiar face I've gotten...-WELL not another one of my OWN faces, but certainly something familiar."

Intrigued, Donna stops what she's doing and listens to him explain further.

"When I first got it I couldn't place where I'd gotten it from. I just, knew it was familiar...... -I didn't linger on it as long as I should've and I moved on rather quickly."

"Why?" Donna asked, a bit bewildered at the thought of it.

"I was careless and angry and sort of... Scottish.-ANYways one day me and Clara were dragged to this viking village that had gotten itself into trouble, and we helped them. But this village girl had, uhm... Well she didn't make it. I was so angry -I remember that anger really well. And Clara kept on asking if there was something I could do..."

"Well, was there?" By now both of them weren't doing their chores anymore and all they could hear was the singing of a couple of starlings outside.

"...Yes, but it would've broken some rules."

Donna already knew what exactly he meant by that. She would figure that's the end of it, yet the doctor kept on talking.

"But then as I was rotting in my defeat, I remembered this important day I shouldn't ever have forgotten. The day we were in Pompeii... And only then did I realise that face, MY face, was a reminder of something very important you told me. To just, save someone."

"...So you mean, your face..." The doctor nodded, and Donna couldn't help but finally release the breath she'd been holding with a smile.

"I did save her and she ended up living a long, long, longlonglonglonglong life... But even after hundreds of years, when I doubted myself and needed it most, Donna Noble... Your impact on the world and my life, persisted."

And I imagine the doctor to give her a big, proud smile, before Donna pulls him in for a big hug he wasn't expecting to receive. Because maybe, just maybe, that was exactly what she needed to hear that day.

Then once they return to their chores, I imagine Donna to think about it a bit longer and make a comment. "Well you better never take on my face!" And the doctor would dissolve into a pouty ramble about how he has no control over it while also being a bit disappointed she's said no.

The Doctor eventually stops correcting people when they call him Dr. Noble. He doesn't encourage it and he certainly doesn't intentionally introduce himself that way, but he does grin and rock on his heels and needle Donna about it a little.

And Shaun is very Shaun about it. Unthreatened and chill and rolling with the nebulous limits of this queer alien's friendship with his wife. Dryly joking that if they weren't going to exchange names, it's fitting someone take Donna's. But something about it does prickle a tiny bit, after a while. He's not sure why and he's not sure how to approach it.

And then the fam is out one day and someone happens to call Fourteen Dr. Temple. And the Doctor still doesn't correct the person but when the interaction is over the three of them laugh so hard it brings him to tears. It loosens something, and later Shaun can mention the feeling to Donna, even as he realizes it doesn't bother him anymore.

He throws an "excuse you, Dr. Noble" in Fourteen's direction the next time he's put an empty box of cereal back in the cabinet for Shaun to find and gleefully watches them both sputter.

need 14 to complete his retirement by finding martha and mickey. he invites them to a weekly trivia night with donna and shaun. martha & donna’s moms shake their heads at him. 14 learns how to cook and has dinner parties (everyone brings something too bc he’s not a very good cook (yet?)). mickey and shaun definitely get along they’re so cinnamon roll. slowly 14 reconnects with all living companions, one by one. they rent out a local shop for a family reunion every 5 yrs. kate comes and starts to mention an alien work thing and donna gives her the best disapproving mom look ever bc she doesn’t want him hands-on with unit stuff. 14’s therapist tells him to start journaling and he gets way too into it. every companion he reconnects with thinks the worlds ending but then donna gets to tell the bigeneration story and she LOVES to tell it (…so there we were, world about to end, and they just start throwing a ball!)

but like how amazing would it be if a future doctor were to go back in time and become super close with River (sort of like what would have happened in THORS if he hadn't revealed himself) and gives her relationship advice, like:

River (probably drunk at a bar after Asgard idk): I just can't with him anymore! He's like a child. One thing goes wrong and he throws a tantrum. And he's. so. oblivious! I try having one serious conversation and runs off to play in the snow. (world's longest sigh)

ive got a few really random dw headcanons including

the doctor always wears odd socks

donna likes making up new names for herself and the doctor for whenever they meet someone new

graham knows wilf idk how but they are just friends

13 tried very hard to convince yaz to get a cat that lives in the tardis but yaz said no because no way theyd be able to care for it properly

she wouldve called it a name like k9 but feline instead

the doctor has a radio from the 60s and theyve tuned is so it only plays 60s music just to fit the vibe of the police box - oh and moonlight serenade for crying over rose hours

martha found out about yaz after potd and now they are friends

as for torchwood headcanons i dont really have any other than the fact that ianto is autistic (which is kind of canon anyway because gdl said he was)

also jacks whole wardrobe is just 10 of the same shirt and trousers because he refuses to wear anything else.

So we know captain jack ages at a much slower rate than non-immortal humans (wolverine rules) thanks to the flashback episodes of torchwood.

So like, the captain jack from series 12 has to be from some point quite far in his future, right?

This would explain how he knew about the lone cybermen, he could easily have lived through the whole cyber wars and then travelled back to warn the doctor that something very dangerous was sent back through time.

Also we know from the end of time that at some point jack goes off world so is it possible that at the time of revolution of the daleks there’s a captain jack out in space having all kinds of adventures for several centuries before going back in time to help thirteen.?

I love that cause it makes sense that after centuries alone jack would miss his old friends and catching up with gwen would mean so much to him, given he probably never said goodbye the first time round knowing jack.

rose is mostly attracted to men but she could be interested in other genders. just tells people that she’s straight for the ease of it but if pushed she will say unlabeled

martha is bi! i think she probably thought she was a lesbian for a while but had an awakening to men in her late teens

-Yaz thought she had trouble staying awake through human movies.. She is devastated when she finds out that Gallifreyan films are typically no less than 6 hours

-Sometimes the Doctor finds that there are words that don’t translate from Gallifreyan,, so they invent new words in English. And then get them put in the dictionary.

-(This one is kinda silly/self indulgent) Breasts arent censored on Gallifrey. The fam is gagged the first time the 13th Doctor walked into the TARDIS swimming pool in just trunks.
