a week ago i read @imindhowwelayinjune insane 320k words modern silmarillion AU Dancing With My Punchlines fic and these were the result (and there's more to come because i am obsessed and i cannot stop)

#let me SCREAM IN THE TAGS BC I CAN'T PUT INTO WORDS HOW MUCH I ENJOYED IT #first of all it should be illegal to be so funny i had to giggle every couple seconds #i loved how liveoakwithmoss balanced fluff and fun dialogue multi layered drama and sexy times it's so admirable and i couldn't stop reading #and the character interactions. BOY. how does one write so many different characters so well !!!! and the way they're so true to canon like #i swear that celegorm in canon would talk like that in a modern verse #speaking of which celegorm best boy celeg and aredhel best buddies are something that can be so personal #hnnnnghhghgg i cannot articulate everything this fic made me feel . it was so GOOD . #and the amount of times i wanted to hold moryo and feed him warm soup i love him #wanted to castrate finrod at first but then curufinrod was so sweet and my heart exploded and finrod being so kind and understanding with #ace curvo !!!!! my entire heart belongs to them. #and the references to the silm. Neither is very good at romantic gestures

By which I mean neither is very good at romantic gestures other people would find appropriate. Fingon goes way too hard for acts of service up to and including mass murder and amputation, while Maedhros’ love language is gift giving of the most extravagant sort, we’re talking family heirlooms, magic items, crowns.

It’s not something they talk about but despite the horror of it, both of them are, if not happier then more fulfilled in Beleriand fighting their war than they were in Valinor. They’re both men who need a purpose, however awful that purpose is, and if/when they’re reembodied, no longer having one is a struggle. 

Maedhros uses a scribe for most of his correspondence, except letters to Fingon, which are barely comprehensible. Fingon convinces himself that at least the time spent decrypting them makes the wait between messages more tolerable. 

As June pointed out in her notes here, both are switches. 

I agree that dwmp is an excellent work of fiction but...I...didn’t write it. Although I collaborate with my soulmate and hivemind @imindhowwelayinjune a LOT (including on our upcoming novel, yes that’s still happening people, please stay hype), dwmp is hers and hers alone. Here’s a quick PSA for differentiating us:

She has hair and I don’t

I spell favour with a u (i.e. correctly) and she doesn’t

@acesparson lol dwmp is literally my fave fic and I just finished reading it 😂 in this verse maedhros is a school teacher bc I'm a school teacher and I needed to bitch abt shitty co-workers who don't clean up after themselves (the cunts) tbh fin is the Nastiest(tm) I'd call him a slut but that's reserved for my boy finrod
