Andrea Dworkin's classic Beauty Hurts diagram from Woman Hating (1974), updated for modern procedures, fifty years later.
A first step in the process of liberation (women from their oppression, men from the unfreedom of their fetishism) is the radical redefining of the relationship between women and their bodies. The body must be freed, liberated, quite literally: from paint and girdles and all varieties of crap. Women must stop mutilating their bodies and start living in them. Perhaps the notion of beauty which will then organically emerge will be truly democratic and demonstrate a respect for human life in its infinite, and most honorable, variety. —Andrea Dworkin, Woman Hating (1974)

“...men come to me or to other feminists and say:
"What you're saying about men isn't true. It isn't true of me. I don't feel that way. I'm opposed to all of this."
And I say: don't tell me. Tell the pornographers. Tell the pimps. Tell the warmakers. Tell the rape apologists and the rape celebrationists and the pro-rape ideologues. Tell the novelists who think that rape is wonderful. Tell Larry Flynt. Tell Hugh Hefner. There's no point in telling me. I'm only a woman. There's nothing I can do about it. These men presume to speak for you. They are in the public arena saying that they represent you. If they don't, then you had better let them know."

«Woman is not born: she is made. In the making, her humanity is destroyed. She becomes symbol of this, symbol of that: mother of the earth, sl*t of the universe; but she never becomes herself because it is forbidden for her to do so.»

Serious request for trans rights activists
I will rescind my critiques of gender ideology immediately if you can define “woman” for me without defining it by the word "woman" (tautology) or without basing it on misogynistic sex roles constructed for the domination of women
I doubt anyone is going to take me up on this but worth a try.

Can yall reblog to make a list of womyn icons and rolemodels? I'm trying to put something together for my daughter so even the basic "everyone knows her" names are welcome.

Quote
Writing requires an almost perfect concentration which I am trying to learn and there is no way to learn it that is spelled out anywhere so I can understand it but I have a sense that it's completely simple, on the order of being able to sit still and keep your mind dead center in you without apology or fear. I squirm after some time but it ain't boredom, it's fear of what's possible, how much you can know if you can be quiet enough and simple enough. I get frightened seeing what's in my own mind if words get put to it. There's a light there, it's bright, it's wide, it could make you blind if you look direct into it and so I turn away, afraid.
