Honestly I think divergent was the downfall of dystopian movies because the way the last few movies were a total disaster the cast had completely lost interest in making the movies and the world building and cgi was a complete disaster
And I feel like that’s kinda critics are so hard on dystopian movies now like the maze runner movies are not actually that bad and the scorch trials is not actually that bad but because of divergent all of people are very hard on dystopian films which is sad

Ok just watched “The darkest minds” movie and absolutely fucking loved it. I love anything to do with powers and the way they did it was just 🤌 also didn’t realise how much I liked dystopian things (I should have done considering how much I like the hunger games movies) but now I’m wondering if I should get the the darkest minds book series and read it, anyone have any opinions if it’s worth it? (Also any recommendations to similar films?)
So basically I've watched the first divergent movie ages ago but did not like it. I just thought it was cringe, like the whole concept is amazing don't get me wrong and everything looked real in the movie I loved it but I just thought some of it was cringe idk why. But last week I decide to buy the book and I read all of it today and rewatched the movie and I LOVE IT. Like reading the book gave me a deeper understanding of the characters, their thoughts, feelings ect. And like four was so much nicer in the book. Like yk when they were at the dinning table for the first time and he was like what makes you think you can talk to me to tris 👁️👄👁️ THAT WASN'T EVEN IN THE BOOK LIKE I WOULD'VE CRIED IF SOMEONE SAID THAT TO ME UGHH-
what if you led a revolution against a corrupt dystopian corporation and i was your bodyguard and then i fell in love with you as i fought harder to protect you... and we were both girls
