“Why are you looking at me like that?” You asked, settling your phone down after the content had been uploaded.
You met Jude by spare chance. You’d been living in Madrid for a bit more than a year, occupied with your studies by the time the star boy reached the promised land. Jogging in Valdebebas at six thirty in the morning and having a black car pull up next to you was the way you were sure you were leaving this earth, instead finding a footballer asking for directions at the other side of the rolled-down window.
You easily discover the real reason later on. He was not lost, but had seen you around the residential complex; he’d only gotten the courage to talk to you after taking a big jug of coffee that morning, or so he claimed.
You’d noticed he had been staring at your glistening skin as you tanned your backside, but decided against commenting until the cheeky smile started to blossom. “Nothin’ “ He shook his head, but a tiny smile was half hidden behind his plush lips, giving away other intentions. The sun was so bright it was dazing, you’d sat under it for a while now hoping to darken your skin. The heat felt funny inside your tummy, similar to how Jude made your guts churn whenever he hooked your legs over his shoulders. “You’re sitting too far. C’mere.”
“Jude, mi rey, we’ve been holding hands the whole time I’ve been tanning.” You replied shortly, looking at him from behind your shades.
“Not close enough.” He practically whined, tugging at your arm with need, coercing you to get up and sit on his lap under the shade.
“Better?” You asked from your newfound place in his crotch, warm bodies coming in contact as you settled. You noticed him nod, his arm wrapping your waist in a way his forearm rested against your bare abdomen covering your belly button.
“Why won’t you post me?” His lower lip puckered out, eliciting a laugh out of you as you turned to face him briefly before turning towards the vast ocean in front of you. A small groan left his lips at the innocent movement.
After analyzing the vivid memory of his face, and thinking through your words, you spoke up. “Didn’t know if you wanted me to.” Once again, got comfortable in his lap. A sigh followed, coming from the man behind you.
“Have I ever told you how much I like that bikini on you?” Jude spoke after a minute or so of comfortable silence. You felt him toying with the drawstring of the bottoms. You could also feel something poking at your bare ass. “But not as much as I like you…”
“I think you’ve mentioned how you wanted to take it off.” Your voice barely came out; a mumble almost, ignoring the last sentence. Your heart thud against your chest, louder than it had done before when he questioned his presence— or lack thereof— in your vacation post. You peered around the area, only to find the waves crashing close to your beach beds’ location, and pearl-ish white sand spread for miles on end— just the two of you.
You felt him nod again, his chin brushing against your shoulder. Though he confirmed your suspicions of his true intentions, Jude’s hand didn’t undo the strap that held together the skimpy bikini. Instead, his fingers trailed the hem of the swimsuit, barely touching the warm skin. “Can I?”
The tone of his voice was low, the manner only brought goosebumps down your spine. But you wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of being eager, or at least the stupor of the hot day didn’t allow you to nod fast enough for you to look desperate. “You don’t know how happy I am to get you like this…” His hand sneaked under the piece at a painfully slow pace. Even though you knew what was going to happen, your breath got stuck in your throat.
“You always get me like this whenever you please.” It could be a complaint coming from anyone else, but it was just the reality of the situation. The relationship between you and Jude was… unclear. Feelings had been owned up to, but a title hadn’t been discussed. In fact, this was the first trip you tagged along; he asked you personally to do so. But you still decided against reading too much into it.
“You were saying, love?” Jude chuckled with malice, smirking at the way your skin prickled up at his touch applied to the bundle of nerves between your legs— which also spread involuntarily to give him better access. The way your words morphed with the moans and delirious sighs brought only further satisfaction to the British national.
“Don’t get all sassy with me.” You complained through a breathy laugh, eyes falling shut. His other hand trailed upwards your torso, to rest against your breasts and get straight into the task of cupping the left one first. The circles to your clit were steady, too steady for your liking. But still good enough to enjoy, and your moans let him know he was doing a stellar job. As per usual.
“What do you want, amor?” You managed to ask. Jude could’ve internally cursed, you knew him too well. A little too well for his liking. Instead of providing an answer, he pressed harder against your clit, the pressure catching you off guard, doubling down the attitude too.
“You,” Jude replied after what seemed years after he couldn’t take any more of your squirming. “Just you, all for me.” You could feel his stubble brushing against your shoulder before his lips pressed onto the length of your neck. It was all too much for you; the heat, the bright sun, the dryness settling in your tongue, his hands touching your body, his hard, clothed cock pressing against your backside, and the coil tightening in your lower stomach.
But he stopped.
Almost bewildered, you gasped, at the same time he undid the bunny ears that kept your swimsuit together. A smile crept onto your face as you turned to face him, thighs on either side of his hips. “You’re looking at me like that again.” You noted humbly, undoing the string of your bra. He couldn’t even formulate a response at the sight of your bare body, eyes scanning every inch, adoring the fresh tan lines.
“How could I not? You’re perfect.” Jude breathed out, leaning forward to catch his lips in yours. It was slow, but oozing with need and passion. You felt a pressure built up in your stomach, sparks, but you hesitated if he ever felt those around you.
“My perfect girl.” He breathed against your lips, hands holding onto your hips as he watched you undo the string that held his swimsuit tighter to his waist. He helped you pull the item down, barely resting at his upper thighs.
He leaned forward once again to catch your lips on his, letting out a tiny groan as you leaned further, just to tease him. “Kiss me,” Jude whined, stomach tightening at the firm grip around his shaft.
“Tranquilo, mi rey.” You cooed, working him up by rubbing his swollen tip on the warm and wet hole before finally sinking down his length. A pair of harmonious groans left both of your lips once you sat in his lap again, hips circling to get accustomed to the stretch.
“I can’t calm down when I’m obsessed with you.” Jude breathed out, large hands helping you steady the pace of your hips. He watched hypnotized by the way his cock disappeared in and out of your warm walls. His eyes were set, as though he wanted to train them to imprint the image in the back of his mind.
Your voice snapped him out of his trance. “Eyes up here, big boy.” The friendly banter defined your relationship; you often wondered if putting a label on things would make that disappear. But it was all just a wall to hide behind the adoration you felt for him, using it to dodge every compliment, in fear that none of his words were sincere. You could tell he wasn’t disappointed in the slightest when meeting your eyes, and the look you couldn’t pinpoint for the whole afternoon reappeared as he tangled his fingers in your hair and drew you right in for a kiss.
A kiss fierce enough to make you weak in the knees.
It was the perfect opportunity for Jude to accommodate his stance to start thrusting upwards, the sweetest noise he managed to squeeze out from the back of your throat was worth the tension in his core. Instantly, your back arched to give him the perfect angle. “I want you like this all the time…” He moaned into your mouth, hands on your hips to pin you down.
“Jude…” You mewled, the sound of skin coming into contact filling the empty air, harmonizing with the waves crashing near the beach spot you both occupied. You could feel your orgasm building rapidly, and Jude wasn’t foreign to the squeezing that built-up with every frantic thrust.
“C’mere doll, you’re doing so good f’me. Cum all over my cock, c’mon.” His voice was soft, the encouragement overlapping with his own groans of pleasure. He drew you into his arms, holding you close to his chest. Jude resisted the usual drawn-out teasing and mocking, now finding satisfaction in babying you as he slammed deep into you.
The string of incoherent babbles left your mouth shortly after his praises reached your ears. Jude closed his eyes to both contain himself from releasing at the way your pulsating walls were milking him so deliciously, but to also cherish the way your moans turned up the octave, nails digging into the sweaty skin of his bicep. Yet again, the heat you’ve been withstanding for the entirety of that morning hazed you, making a fantastic team with the warmth of Jude’s strong arms and the faded smell of his cologne mixed in with the salty air.
But all it took to push you right off the edge was a kiss. A single kiss pressed to your shoulder.
Your release consisted of a cocktail of your orgasm and a wave of realization crashing over you. You were head over heels with the man who was currently squishing your face against his buff chest, strong arms wrapped around your waist as he held you down. Groans and chants of your name replaced your meek moans and sighs, his cum filling you up. You allowed him the luxury of doing so every once in a while, and the dream-like stupor that enveloped your mind currently created the desire for him to do so.
The sounds of waves crashing filled the air once more, overshadowing the heavy breathing you shared. You stayed put, even cuddling closer to him as soon as the tremor left your legs. Time seemed to slow down, and you wondered how difficult the task of pulling away from him would soon be.
“Can I post you?”
Jude broke the silence, he’d been busy brushing your hair strands back into place upon the comfortable silence you’d set on. There was an arm still wrapped along the width of your waist. You pulled back to look him in the eyes, expecting to see playfulness in them, but finding a completely serious stare in return. “Since a certain someone won’t post me…”
“Oh, stop it!” You laughed, cheeks flushed at the idea. “If you think it's that great on an idea…” You puckered your lips while replicating his tone, cupping his face and planting a peck on his lips.
Jude smirked, licking his lips to chase the taste of you. But his eyes were soft, full of adoration. That look. It would blossom by just admiring your presence, or during one of his favorite activities– making you happy. “All I have are great ideas. Amazing, even.” He stole a peck off from you. You giggled, and a smile subconsciously peaked from behind his lips.
His heart flipped in his chest for the hundredth time that trip.
Jude, lost for words, just shook his head and reached for his phone. He started to wonder how a person could compete so easily with the grandiose, warmth and shine of the sun above.
But one peek down at you, snuggled up against him, answered all his questions.

Let It Be Enough - 1 Year Anniversary
Tumblr media
"You will always be enough."
This beautiful art was commissioned from the incredibly talented Elle Noir (twitter/instagram/deviantart)! Thank you, Elle, for bringing this beautiful moment in their story to life.
This time last year, I posted the first chapter of Let It Be Enough on AO3. The butterfly effect of my simple desire to share my silly little story is unbelievable. In one year it garnered over 50k hits on AO3, and that isn't even the coolest part. I made lifelong friends, found a community of wonderful writers, and fell in love. I reflect upon 2023 and bear witness to the power of storytelling. I never thought that I'd still be writing fanfiction about Petra and Miles a year later in the form of my Fairytale AU, The Memory of Stars, and yet here I am.
The world of Avatar is magnificent. It gives me hope that the highest grossing movie of all time is an allegory about colonialism. It emphasizes the importance and beauty of our connection to the Earth (or in the case of the Na’vi, Pandora), and condemns corporate greed. I sincerely love Avatar, not just because of the nostalgia, but because of how bold it is in its storytelling.
Stories are the backbone of society. For all of human history, we have told each other stories. Stories shape our worldview and helps us convey emotions and ideas. Every person finds their own truth in the shape of words.
James Cameron is a fantastic storyteller. However, he is also a white man, and some stories are not his to tell. Many aspects of the Na’vi are drawn from real world indigenous cultures. I understand that he consulted various groups in his development of the Na’vi, but if you enjoy Avatar, I strongly encourage you to seek out own voices stories as well. Our world is troubled and complicated, but I truly believe that it gets better each time someone opens their mind to traditional indigenous knowledge. That gives me hope more than anything: the will to listen.
One of my favourite books: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer (If you're a fan of audiobooks, Robin reads the audiobook herself and it’s incredible. I highly highly recommend picking this up, especially if you like plants.)
Also, if you are playing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, please dedicate time to researching Residential Schools and their dark legacy in North America. You will better understand the real world inspiration of the Ambassador Program, but more importantly, you will be offering a listening ear to the important stories of survivors. Feel free to add more book suggestions to the comments as well!
Thank you for being here.

It’s (just so) awkward | jungkook (bts) - part two
Tumblr media
No way. We’re too different and he’s so—so black and white. A straight-up yes-or-no kind of guy. And I’m not.”
Genre: nerd! Jungkook x outspoken! Reader, university! Au, idiots to lovers au, kim changbin cameo (skz)
Part One | Part Two | Part Three
----
"It's just you and me, and the song on repeat in my head." — Fall Into Me, Forest Blakk
----
“Do you think that there are people out there looking at the sky and wondering what we are?”
Jungkook tore his gaze off from his phone long enough to raise a brow at you, the kind of look he gave you whenever you asked something out of the blue. You sat there, head tilted back and legs dangling from the edge as your eyes trailed through eh throng of stars dotting the sky.
“Scientifically speaking, no planet can inhabit human life like earth does,” he answered as he went back to his phone, fingers flying away on the keyboard, “so your point is invalid.”
You sighed, then looked at him, “do you have to keep looking at your phone? I thought you were the one who told me phones weren’t allowed when we’re talking.”
He had the decency to look guilty as he gently pushed his phone back into his pocket, “sorry,” he mumbled, “but I stand by my theory. Your assumptions are too far fetched to be reality. There’s no oxygen up there, so it’d be pretty much impossible for planets to have any signs of life—“
“But what if they adapted to something else? What if they didn’t need oxygen to live?”
“They wouldn’t be called humans then.”
“Exactly my point.” You looked back up to the starry night, admired the glittering stars filled with the entirety of humanity’s wishes, “you really like her, huh?”
the question threw him off guard. He blinked at you like a deer in the headlights, “who?”
“Sara,” you tried to smile, though it felt as though your face was cracking in two, “you like her, don’t you? Isn’t that who you were texting up to this point?”
“Yes, because she takes good notes and I would benefit from them,” he pulled his knees up to his chest before leaning upon your shoulder, hair tickling the side of your face as he did so, “why are you asking so many questions about Sara? You keep bringing her up every time.”
In the darkness that surrounded your figures, your lips trembled with the desire to spill out the thoughts that had been roaming in your head rent-free for the past few weeks. As you’d watched him and the said girl get closer with each passing day, you couldn’t help but feel as though you were being left behind, which was absurd, considering that you were always the one dragging Jungkook along to all kinds of parties or events because he was just so awkward and blunt that no one dared to approach him.
Yet, this situation seemed to be reversed now, and you wondered briefly whether Jungkook could feel your absence as much as you felt his.
“Sorry, I guess I was just curious,” you finally said to break the silence buzzing with growing awkwardness, “would that be such a bad thing though? To spend more time with her?”
“Is that what you want me to do?”
“It depends whether that’s what you want to do.”
“Why would I want to spend more time with her?”
“Because you—I don’t know,” you tried to chuckle, “because maybe you might like her?”
Jungkook went silent at that and something in your heart punctured in two. Jesus Christ, Y/N! You screamed at your brain, get a hold of yourself! What was wrong with you? You didn’t own him, nor did you care about who he fell in love with!
Right?
….right?
“You’re not going crazy,” Yoona spoke when you finally decided to spill the beans the day after. It was clear from your face that very morning that you were up all night tossing and turning about whether you actually held feelings for the said young man, “I think you’re jealous because he’s spending more time with Sara than he is with you.”
“I’m not jealous,” you snapped despite the flaming red heating up your cheeks, “I’m just…worried.”
“Sure, and you’re in denial.”
Denial? We’re you in denial? You kept on thinking about what that meant to you, which did not go unnoticed by Changbin a few days afterwards when he strolled into the art lab to find you pulling out strands of your hair in frustration.
He nudged your shoulder with his arm as he took a seat next to you, flashing you a charming yet mischievous grin as he took in your face, “what’s got your panties in a twist?”
“Nothing,” you grumbled. But it was clearly not nothing, and as he pushed at you to confess, you did reluctantly, hating the fact that you were weak enough to crumble under his hard stare. When you were done talking, Changbin merely threw his head back in laughter and caused a few people from the lab to glance his way in half curiosity and concern.
You swatted at his arm, “stop laughing!” You hissed with narrowed eyes, “it’s not funny—stop Changbin!”
“Sorry sorry,” he wiped at the stray tears dotting the corner of his eyes, “I just—I knew it. You fucking like him, huh? And now you’re being a jealous little bitch about it.”
“I’m not—“ anger flared through you, “—I’m not a jealous little bitch!”
“And I’m not an asshole,” he rolled his eyes, “get over it. You’re jealous. It’s crystal clear why. Loser boy stops paying attention to you and suddenly there’s a new girl in his life. Coincidence? I don’t think so.”
You hated the fact that he was right, “I hate you.”
“I know,” his grin widened, “but you know what? At least I’m honest. Why don’t you try it sometime with loser boy? I’m sure he’ll find it pretty fucking amusing.”
“I don’t—I don’t like him, and I’m not jealous.”
“Then would you accept to go on a date with me?”
“What?” Your mind went blank. You stared at him, wondering whether he was being serious.
“I’m asking you to go on a date with me, idiot.”
“But—But—Why?”
You felt your neck flush with embarrassment. Was he being serious right now?
“Because for one; you can make him jealous. And two; because you’re kinda cute and I think I’ll have a good time,” he winked at you then, causing you to flush even redder.
“Uhm—“ this was too much information to take in at once and you excused yourself in haste, surprised that Changbin let you go freely without expecting any response. You managed to get out of the lab and into the right bus, and it was only then that you tried to mull over everything that had just happened. Changbin asking you out was the most shocking turn of events, but maybe he was right. Maybe you needed to know whether Jungkook would react just as you did. Maybe you needed to give Jungkook a taste of his own medicine.
Which was why you agreed to the date.
———
“With who?”
Jungkook was looking at you with wide eyes behind his spectacles. He’d been working on his architecture assignment while keeping you company in a nearby campus cafe when you dropped the bomb.
“Changbin,” even the words sounded forced coming from your mouth, but you keep going, “I thought it’d be fun to give it a try…I’m single, anyway. So why not?”
“Changbin.” Jungkook’s eyes were darting right, left and center, “you’re going to go on a date with Changbin,” he repeated.
“Yeah.”
“Do you like him?”
“Hm, kinda. Yeah.”
“What do you like about him?”
“I—“ you pressed your lips together, “—he’s funny. And…kind. When you get to know him,” you hurriedly add when confusion breaks across his face, “we get along well.”
Jungkook didn’t look convinced, “but he doesn’t like me.”
“Don’t say that,” you huffed, “and plus, does it matter?”
“Yes. Because I’m your friend,” he paused, “your good friend.”
“Well does Sara like me?” You shot back.
“Yes.”
“Have you asked her?”
“…No.”
“Then that doesn’t count,” you shook your head before leaning back against the library couch.
He finally stopped typing to look at you, a frown furrowing his eyebrows, “why wouldn’t she like you?”
“Because girls don’t like it when other girls are around their potential boyfriends.”
“But I’m not her boyfriend.”
“Do you want to be?”
He shrugged, “what does that mean?”
“Well…kinda like, you know, doing stuff together. Holding hands, spending time together, hugging each other on your bad days—“
“Then doesn’t that make you my girlfriend?”
You almost choked on your own spit, “uhm—“
He paused for a second, “we already do all these things.”
“Well yeah, but you do other stuff too. Like, kissing and making out and going on dates and stuff…” you trailed off without knowing how to continue the conversation so that it wouldn’t turn awkward.
Jungkook’s wide eyes turned to give you a look filled with both shock and worry, “Is that what you’re going to be doing with Changbin?”
“Wha—no! It’s just a date! A friendly one, we’re getting to know each other,” you were quick to swat away his accusations.
“Well I do not approve,” Jungkook stated, “but it seems you’ve already made up your mind.”
“I have, and I’m going to have fun.”
In all honesty, Changbin’s suggestion was a welcome distraction for you to push back all those weird thoughts you’d been having about Jungkook lately. It happened sometimes, right? You were friends, so of course you would feel a little weird and awkward about his newly piqued interest in other girls.
Right?
And plus, Changbin was kind of cute. In that rugged, dishevelled manner. As cute as a sulky dog.
Which was why you were more than a little surprised to find Jungkook beside Changbin when you arrived to your desired destination. Your jaw dropped, eyes going wide as they flitted between one and the other.
“What are you doing here?” You screeched, wanting to bang your head against something. You had agrees to this to make you forget all about Jungkook. So what were you supposed to do now?!
“Changbin thought it would be fun to invite Sara and I,” Jungkook said, “I thought you would be happy.”
Your eyes narrowed into slits, “what is wrong with you?” You hissed at him, “that wasn’t part of the plan.”
“Hey, the more the merrier right?” Changbin grinned mischievously, the kind of grin that made you want to slap it right off.
In a desperate attempt to set things straight, you turned back to Jungkook, “I thought you didn’t like arcades—“
“Oh relax Y/N, why are you so stiff?” Changbin cut you off, “it’s a double date. I’m sure Jungkook will love it just as much as you will.”
You opened your mouth to protest only to find none other than Sara bounding up to tour group with the biggest smile on her face, “I’m so ready for this!” She squealed, “I haven’t been to the arcade in so long!”
If you were feeling bad about yourself initially, it was nothing compared to how you felt now seeing her all dressed up in a cute outfit while you had just opted for jeans and a simple t-shirt. This feeling merely grew like a weed spreading through your body as the group decided to tackle the racing games first.
“Y/N hates racing games,” Jungkook said as they approached the arena already filled with people. It seemed as though there was already an ongoing race, with two boys neck to neck for the first place, “maybe we should start with something else.”
“But I like racing games,” Sara whined with a pout, causing you to roll your eyes inwardly. There was a whoop as the winner jumped up and ran out, followed by the loser grumbling under his breath.
“It’s fine,” you said to Jungkook before gesturing towards the now vacant seat, “I’ll sit out on this one.”
On and on it went, the torture of having to restrain yourself from pulling Sara’s hair out despite the fact that she wasn’t even all that bad to begin with. Actually, she was quite a nice girl and you could even enjoy her presence, if not for the fact that it was clear as day she was smitten with your best friend.
And it didn’t seem like your best friend minded either, from the looks of it. They spent the entire afternoon glued to each other’s side and it took everything in you not to smash something when you spotted a plushie cradled under Sara’s arm when they found their way back to you and Changbin who were currently indulging in a zombie fight. Or rather, you were indulging and he was making fun of you for it.
“Well, seems like you two had some fun,” Changbin said cheerfully.
“Shut up Changbin,” you muttered before turning away. This whole afternoon was starting to make your head hurt, “I’m going home.“
“Y/N—“ you ignored Jungkook’s call in favour of walking away as something snapped off between your heartstrings. You bit down onto your lower lip, restraining it from trembling as you focused on getting as far away as fast as you possibly could.
But a voice pierced through the cacophony of sounds to call your name and though you wished to ignore it, you had no other choice but to turn around when it seemed to get closer to you— to be faced with none other than a dishevelled Jungkook.
“Why are you upset?”
You almost laughed at his question. Indeed, no one was more blunt than Jungkook. The back of your throat tightened.
“I’m not upset.” You managed to answer.
“Then why are you looking at me like that? Like you’re angry at me or something. It’s scaring me a little.”
“I—“ you pressed your lips together, “can’t you just drop it this one time? I’m tired and I want to go home.”
“I’ll come with you—“
“No,” you cut him off more firmly than was necessary, “you stay with Sara. She needs you.”
“But—“
“See you around, Jungkook.”
And before he could say anything else, you were walking down the pavement like there was fire at your heels, glad that you didn’t turn back to watch Jungkoo gaze at you until you disappeared around the block.
———
I don’t like him.
I don’t like him, you kept chanting. I don’t like him.
what was there to like? Not his stuck-up fashion sense that made as if he’d stepped out of a 90’s movie, not the unflattering way his hair was glued to the sides of his face, and definitely not the way he chortled whenever he found something really funny, an ungrateful act at its best, surely.
But dear god you would’ve been lying to say that you hadn’t been thinking of Jungkook for this past week.
Midterms were coming up and winter was making its arrival known, the smell of pumpkin spice lattes and hot cocoa drifting through the food hall campus as groups of students scattered around with textbooks perched precariously atop tables to cram everything they could last minute.
To distract yourself from those weird, alienating thoughts about your best friend, you decided to do the same. Unfortunately for you, Yoona and Jimin thought you were being utterly and unbelievably stupid.
“Why can’t you two just make up and then everyone can be happy?” Jimin asked in exasperation one day when he stumbled in on you and Jungkook exchanging stiff greetings (mostly you though) before parting ways.
You glared at him, “he’s the one hanging out with Lee Sara, not me.”
“Well he says that you seeing Sara makes you mad, so obviously he’s going to try to steer her away from you,” Jimin explained as he flipped open his computer science textbook, “you know how his brain works, Y/N. Don’t tell me you didn’t realize his intentions.”
You grumbled out an agreement between sips of your too-strong coffee and had to admit to yourself that Jimin was right. Jungkook had been doing it with all the right intentions. He never did understand the concept of jealousy and envy and the horrible desire to have someone to yourself. And that was exactly what you felt.
So it didn’t take you by surprise when the said young man turned up Friday night with a bag of donuts in hand and some hot chocolate in the other, claiming that you two had made plans for the evening. Something about a study session that you yourself had forgotten about until you checked your phone calendar.
“You didn’t have to,” was what you grumbled out as you let him in and flopping down onto your couch as he proceeded to pull off his shoes by your doorway, “that was a long time ago. It’s not like I was prepared to expect you.”
“That’s quite alright. I’ve seen your place in worse shape,” Jungkook replied. He placed the food on your coffee table before pulling out his textbook and you watched him, wondering why in the world did he make your heart twist and turn and snap with endless turns of emotions when there were so many other men out there who at least understood the concepts of relationships.
No. I don’t like him, you chanted, I’m just being jealous. A jealous best friend.
“Why did you come?” The words blurted out of your mouth before you could stop them. You quickly averted your eyes when his flickered up in curiosity.
“Because we agreed to have a study session at your house,” he said simply, as logical as ever, “we agreed on it a few weeks ago.”
“Right, forgive me for not remembering,” you said through clenched teeth, “but you didn’t have to ditch Sara for me—“
“Do you not like Sara?”
“What?”
“Do you not like her? You keep mentioning her every time we’re together. And then Jimin said something weird to me last week,” Jungkook shifted to face you better and that made you notice that for the first time, he was in sweatpants and a normal hoodie, and his hair —his hair was down and freshly washed, hanging over his face.
Cute.
You were so distracted by his appearance that you almost missed his little speech, “what did Jimin say?”
“That I wasn’t giving you enough of my time and attention, which is why you keep being mad.”
That little fucker. You were going to kill this man. You swallowed and leaned back against the couch, “that’s not true.”
“Then you’re not mad at me?”
You didn’t know how to answer his question without lying and knowing Jungkook, he was good at sniffing that out. So you changed the subject instead, “hey, I think we should order some chicken. Do you want some?”
Jungkook’s eyebrows dipped into a frown, but he didn’t push it and agreed on ordering some takeout before you both settled into comfortable silence. Snow drifted down outside your window pane as the night wore on and the more you focused on anything that wasn’t Jungkook, the easier it was to fill the sudden awkward silence that prevailed, merely broken by the shuffling of papers and the scrape of pen marks.
“You’re not in your Jungkook clothes,” you suddenly asked out of the blue, almost regretting it when Jungkook’s curious gaze searched your face.
From the corner of your eye, you noticed his eyebrows furrowing together, “Jungkook clothes?”
“Yeah, clothes that you always wear. Aka your shirt tucked into pants. And what’s up with your hair? It’s all like—casual.”
He touched his tuft of hair self-consciously, “I just took a shower. I can’t put gel in it right after showering.”
You crossed your arms over your chest before you leaned back against the edge of the couch, your knee brushing his as you crossed your legs, “so you do know how to dress like a normal human being.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Jungkook flipped through his physics workbook as he spoke, “I don’t think t-shirts are appropriate to attend lectures. They’re not flattering at all and show lack of respect.”
“Oh because you think tucking your shirt into your pants shows respect?” You snickered impulsively, causing Jungkook to scowl at you as he said, “well I never complained about your lack of clothes.”
“Sorry sorry,” you tried toning down on the laughter, “it’s just—my bad Jungkook. I didn’t mean to offend you and your…casual clothes.” Your voice broke into another round of laughter at that and Jungkook’s ears reddened before he flung a pillow at your face.
“Ouch,” you groaned, rubbing your nose from where it had bounced off, “that was a bit brutal.”
“I don’t recall you deserving any type of gentle treatment,” he retorted, “now let me finish my physics assignment otherwise we’ll be here all night.”
Truth to be told, you both finished around midnight and agreed on going out for some late midnight snack, quickly zipping up your coat and boots before shoving a beanie on your head.
“Wait,” Jungkook said just as you were about to open the door, and you felt his hand — it was warm and big, bigger than you thought it was — at your cheek, pushing a few strands of hair under your beanie.
The action caught you off-guard and you blinked, noticing just how close Jungkook was. So close that if you moved, your nose would brush against the nape of his neck.
“There,” Jungkook leaned back and all the warmth was gone, leaving only your reddened cheeks in its place.
No ice cream parlor seemed to be open at this time, forcing you to settle on some ice cream sticks from the convenience store. You sat outside on the freezing steps, butts going numb as you indulged in the sweet treat.
“That’s so good,” you mumbled through a mouthful of chocolate ice, “it’s been a while since I’ve had ice cream.”
“I’m not particularly a fan,” Jungkook ate his own stick of vanilla cone, “but this one is not bad.”
“Not bad, but you’re still eating it.”
“Mostly to accompany you.”
“Oh I’m touched,” your tone dripped with sarcasm, “you do that a lot with Sara too? Accompany her because she likes doing things that you necessarily don’t?”
“Y/N,” the way Jungkook said your name had you pause, eyes flickering over to his face only to see that he was already watching you, dark orbs swirling with something you couldn’t quite place.
When he spoke next, his voice was soft, yet firm:
“I don’t really appreciate you talking about Sara this way.”
Your throat went dry, “i—I didn’t—“
“You might be a little envious that I spend time with her, but she is my friend. As you are. You do not have to feel the need to bring her down just because you are a bit envious—“
“I am not envious,” you snapped back automatically, anger curling though your stomach like a rising flame, “I just—I’m just trying to say that people aren’t necessarily who you think they are, Jungkook. You should know that.”
Jungkook looked at you for a long, drawn-out moment, “I appreciate your concern, but not this way Y/N.”
It broke something inside your heart, the way he kept on tugging down your pride and your walls like he’s having the time of his life ripping it apart at the seams, and you couldn’t help feeling the sudden clog of emotion at the base of your throat at how serious he was being about this. He’d never spoken this way to you before, this was a first.
And it hurt.
“Fine then,” you murmured out. You had finished the ice cream by then and wrapped it back up in its package before tossing it into the trash with more force than necessary, “I won’t do that anymore. And I’m sorry if that upset you.”
“Y/N,” Jungkook called as you turned your back on him, “what is it that you’re not telling me? You have that face again.”
“What face?” You play dumb. Since when was Jungkook so invested in knowing every facial expression you possessed?
He pointed at you, “that. You look mad at me, but not quite mad. There’s something else that you’re not telling me.”
“I’ve already told you everything,” you tried to laugh, “it’s just how my face is—“
Jungkook suddenly leaned in close. Too close. So close you saw the sparkles in his doe eyes and a yelp died in the back of your throat, “that’s not true and you know it.” He murmured, sounding so much more like a man rather than himself that it caused goosebumps to rise along the back of your arms.
“Fine,” you quickly scrambled for some space, hating the way your heart seemed to beat out of your chest and you wondered briefly whether he could hear it too, “I just feel like you’re not the same anymore. We barely hang out and—and I just don’t like sharing you. I’m a jealous bitch, alright? That’s it. Are we done now?”
“So you were angry at me for spending too much time with Sara.”
“Well—yes, but—“
“Why?” He cut you off, dark eyes so intense on your face that it made you want to squirm. You held your ground though, biting down on your lower lip and curling your fingers into your sweater sleeves.
“Why…what?” Again, you played dumb even though something in your heart resonated at that. Realization washed over you like a tidal wave the more Jungkook kept on gazing at you, and you back at him.
There was something. Of course there was something. You were an idiot all along to not have listened to Changbin in the first place.
You were an idiot. In love.
Shit.
“I need to go,” you scrambled back too quickly for him to grasp your arm and said without looking at him, “I’ll see you around Jungkook. No need to walk me back.”
You didn’t wait to hear Jungkook’s protest as your feet took off on the pavement, legs pumping with adrenaline and panic until you reached the confines of your flat. Only then did you slide down to the floor and lean your head back against the door, wondering when you had signed up for such an ordeal.
And why, out of all people, was it Jungkook?

Cans of food, empty containers, rope, forgotten ammo and maybe a lone deer if you were lucky.
It was meant to only be a small run for some supplies. You would have gotten what you needed and left the rest for some rainy day. The town you frequented was small and it was supposed to be empty, its residents had long since been evacuated. And probably shot down by FEDRA soldiers, from what you had heard, to prevent any more from getting infected and roaming the earth. You were in someone's old house, packing up cans of food, medical supplies and other items when you heard the sound of glass crunching. Before you knew it, an infected emerged from behind a broken-down wall and lunged at you. As you dodged and shot at its head till it dropped dead, more came.
A whole horde. As fucked up as it sounded, they looked fresh. Infected for a few days or weeks. Runners and Stalkers both. Again, the town had been empty since the first few weeks of the outbreak, so you could've only guessed that they somehow migrated to this area. Maybe followed a group of survivors, maybe bit one and infected them before quickly spreading to the others. Runners were bad because if you saw one, there were probably going to be a handful of others nearby. But stalkers? Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. They were smart. They moved fast, they knew how to hide from you and would ambush you and straight up hunt you down like you're their little prey. It didn't help that you needed to use a few extra bullets to take them out.
And it was just your luck that the Molotov cocktail you had fashioned got knocked out of your hand when one of the infected jumped at you, pinning you to the ground. Within seconds, the bottle shattered and the floor was set on fire. The whole building was going to be swallowed by the flames.
After kicking the infected off of you and beating your hatchet into its fungi-covered skull, you crawled on the ground in a coughing fit trying to escape the burning house. Wooden beams fell from the ceiling, crushing a few infected underneath them. The wall beside you collapsed, trapping your lower body beneath its rubble.
The rest- they flinched and screeched and groaned, but they still made their way towards you.
Black smoke surrounded you. Strokes of fire licked your skin. Breathing had started to hurt and your eyes burned red. All you could see was the blur of lights and the shadows that grew closer.
Fire.
Smoke.
Infected.
Horde.
....Sounds of gunshots came from somewhere.
Tumblr media
You woke up to the dull sound of metal clanking against each other. Blinking your eyes open, you were met with the dark blue sky, littered with specks of small stars. You were in the woods, on a worn-out sleeping bag and laying under a jacket that was far too big to be your own. The sweat had dried on your skin making you feel a bit sticky and tacky. Hours must have passed seeing as how the sun was high when you were in the town. Breathing hurt, every slow inhale you took felt like something was scratching the insides of your lungs and your throat was dry.
Tic tic tic tic... Foosh.
When you turned your head to the side towards the sound, you were met with the sight of a gruff-looking man hunched over a portable gas stove. The fire burned low, on top of which he placed what looked to be a pot of water.
The first thing your eyes darted towards was the head of a rifle poking out from behind his shoulders, hung by a makeshift strap across his torso. Your gaze briefly wandered to the shadow behind him, a pickup truck a few metres away from you. Your eyes went back to him, his face illuminated by the orange light. While he was staring at the water, waiting for it to boil, you could make out the tense expression behind his unkempt brown hair; furrowed brows and chewing on one side of his bottom lip. His clothes were battered and a bit dirty, but who the hell had clean clothes in this world? With the sweater, gloves and boots, he looked well-prepared for the coming winter, keeping his fingers from freezing off. Oh, and the fleece jacket that on top of you was also probably his.
With a flick of your wrist, you sat up and from your back pocket, pulled out your pistol, barrel pointed at the stranger's head.
Sure, he gave you his sleeping bag and he might have saved you from the infected horde, but that did not mean he was some nice guy you could risk trusting. No one is just nice, especially not these days, not unless they want something from you. For all you knew, he could be a part of some raiders or hunters or bandits or any other fucking club. As if the infected weren't enough, you had to watch out and hide from these types of people. Somehow, they were worse than the infected. If an infected gets you, you're dead. But if you get caught by the raiders or hunters... You'd seen enough people get dragged off to their camps- heard enough screams to know all the horrors they could do to you.
So, you don't know the stranger in front of you. And he sure as hell doesn't know you.
He looked up, seeing the gun pointed at him and he shook his head, letting out a dry chuckle. "Guess I should've left you in that burning shit hole." His fingers came up to scratch his beard nonchalantly, watching you with the most uninterested and unimpressed look on his face. He wasn't the least bit worried about the possibility of having a bullet between his brows.
You didn’t reply. You took a shallow breath and were hit with cramping pain that pinched at your chest and sides. All that smoke you inhaled was probably still in your lungs. Maybe he knew that, as much as you did, you were in no condition to fight him. Even with the gun in your hands, anxiety itching your finger on the trigger, you could tell this guy wasn't someone to mess around with.
"Your things are over there," He nodded his head a little way to your left, "by the tree." Your backpack and duffle bag were sitting at the base of an old mossy tree, along with your hatchet and empty shotgun. "If you're going to keep pointing that little thing at me, then better you grab your shit and leave without making too much noise." He held his glare at you, tired brown eyes almost turning black, a solid warning that if you tried anything-
You contemplated, giving yourself a chance to think things through. Really, if he wanted to kill and rob you of even the clothes on your back, he would have done all that before nightfall. You were most likely knocked out for five or six hours, four minimum. He had more than enough time to leave you for dead.
A sudden rustling of leaves caught both of your attention, your necks snapped towards the bushes. Before you could think of pulling the trigger and before the stranger could pull the rifle in front of him, an orange cat hopped out of the dark. Its big green eyes glistened in the twilight, as well as the silver army name tag that was fashioned to its collar. The cat trotted towards the man and dropped a rat from its mouth, paying no mind to you, much like its owner. The man's posture went back to its slumped state, his shoulders relaxed and he pushed the rifle back. He murmured something as he scratched the cat behind its ears, to which it meowed back at him. The cat then shifted its focus to the rodent, starting to nip and tear through it.
"Name?" You asked, lowering your pistol, though your finger remained on the grip.
He looked up, somewhat glad that the person he had saved was no longer going to blow his brains out. Or at least not yet. "Jambo." He said, slightly drawing out 'o' of the name. The cat then looked up at him, curling its orange tail around the man's leg.
A sigh left your lips. "I wasn't asking about the cat.” You were dumbfounded, almost amused seeing someone bring around with them a pet. This was really the last thing you expected in a world of chaos and fear.
"Oh. Right, of course." He nodded before properly answering. "Schlatt. I uh- I go by Schlatt."
You tried to rack your brain because you swore you had heard that name before. But you couldn't recall why or from where you heard it. With a parched mouth, you gave him your name in return, to which he nodded again with a rather tired and solemn expression.
Deciding that that was more than enough chit-chatting, you went to push yourself off of the sleeping bag. You were about to stand up from a kneeling position when searing hot pain shot up your thigh. For a split second, you were back in that old burning building, the fire and smoke suffocating you and the infected closing in on you. Something popped against your skin. Wincing and staggering, you dropped one hand on the ground to balance yourself as the other hand instantly went to place itself on your leg where you felt the warm tearing sensation. Only then did you notice the bandages wrapped around your thigh and the makeshift ankle brace on the same leg. There was already enough crimson on the white bandages but because you had moved so harshly, a darker red dot started to rise to the surface. You pressed your lips into a thin line, seeing the blotch of fresh blood travel further down the leg of your pants.
"Wait, don’t just-!" Schlatt hissed through his clenched teeth, "You're going to tear your damn stitches." As tall and as big as he was, his footsteps were light and almost undetectable, something he had perfected throughout the years of the outbreak. You didn't realise he was behind you until you heard his voice right next to your ear. He hooked an arm under yours and motioned you to sit back down. With his other hand on your back, you were laying down again on the sleeping bag. "Tch." The bandages were almost soaking at this point like a wet sponge.
Pulling out a switchblade, Schlatt hastily cut open the wrappings and peeled it off of the wound with the tip of the blade. There is a massive torn hole on the leg of your jeans. Your breath hitched at the sight of several messy stitches crossing over a long and deep gash on your thigh. That popping you felt seconds ago was undoubtedly the snapping and breaking of two or three of these stitches. You could see how deep the cut was with the lighter layer of skin peeking through. The area around the gash was blushing red, inflamed and irritated from all the tension and reopening of the stitches.
“What the hell, you did this?” Your breath was laboured but you tried to inhale and exhale calmly, your eyes unable to look away from your leg.
"I was trying to help you!" Schlatt snapped back at you. “But all for nothing I guess, great fucking job bleeding again.” He wasn't the best when it came to any sort of medical aid. Everything he knew he had learned on his own when the time called for it. And fuck, You were bleeding profusely when he found you. He had no other option than to hold your skin together and run a needle through you like it was a piece of cloth. Though now the stitches were popped and he was all out of medical supplies. Schlatt took a quick glance at you, seeing the thin sheet of sweat beginning to form on your forehead from the spike of adrenaline. "Used all my gauze on you, shit..." He pulled out a handkerchief and pressed it against your leg.
Grunting, you pointed towards your bag and no other words needed to be said after that. Schlatt shuffled both your bags closer and began to quickly look through it for anything useful. His hand landed on a tin box which somewhat resembled a first aid kit and opened it to find a small tube of antiseptic cream and a roll of gauze. He first poured water on the wound, doing his best to clean and dry the area before gingerly applying the cream. Not knowing what to do about the torn stitches, he just left them as they were. With a firm hand, he finally wrapped the bandage tightly around your leg. The bleeding would stop soon enough.
Minutes later, you were lying on your back again, the pain dully pulsing in your leg. It was sure to slowly make its way to your hips and you knew it would give you one hell of a back pain.
"Now you owe me twice," Schlatt quipped.
Even though you felt like your already small reserve of energy had dried out, you without missing a beat rolled your eyes at Schlatt, earning you another dry breathy laugh.
Schlatt had moved to sit a bit closer to you, still on the opposite side of the fire but two or three feet apart this time. He pulled the sleeve of his sweatshirt over his fingers and picked up the pot of boiling water to set it on the ground. Before turning off the stove, Schlatt used a few dry leaves and sticks to make a small campfire to light up the area. He poured some of the water into a metal cup and pulled out a piece of folded paper. Unwrapping the paper revealed a few sticks of what looked to be dried jerky. "Here." He placed the cup in front of you and after picking a few sticks for himself, he held out the rest.
Wearily accepting the food, you muttered thanks.
The two of you ate quietly, tugging at the stick of meat and then taking a sip of water so that you could actually chew and swallow it. The jerky was old and lacked any flavour, tasting more like leather than food. Glancing at your bag, you thought for a second.
At the sound of a zipper opening, followed by rustling, Schlatt cocked an eyebrow as he looked at you. Out of your other bag, you pulled out a red coloured can. Within days of the outbreak, people stormed every mall and shop and cleared out all the shelves. If you weren’t growing it yourself or had some inside source from the FERDA, then food was hard to find. And your luck was thin of finding something that was both edible and rotting. You eyed the can once more before tossing it over to Schlatt.
In a swift motion, Schlatt caught the red can with one hand and brought it close to his face to read the label on it. "Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli" was printed on the front of the can with the picture of, what Schlatt assumed, the said chef and the ravioli. He rotated the can, running his thumb over the metal and checking it for dents or rust.
“It’s in pretty good condition.” You said when he raised his brows at you questioningly “Canned food has a pretty long shelf life... and if that's true, I’m pretty sure we won’t die of food poisoning if we eat it.” "Eh," he shrugged, "it's worth a shot." Schlatt rewrapped the unfinished jerky and slid it into his bag. With the help of his pocket knife, he cut open the can and poured some water into it before setting it on the fire to cook. A few minutes later, you both were eating halves of the steaming ravioli. Granted it was a bit off and you had to water down the sauce a little but it was miles better than the leather you were just eating. You did not miss the way Schlatt took his first bite and had to duck his head into his hand, eyes closed in satisfaction as he chewed. "This is fuckin' good." Finally, food that actually tasted like food.
Even the cat- Jambo came around to you, sniffing at the small piece you let him have before scarfing it.
You stuffed the spoonful of pasta into your mouth, taking a moment to enjoy the hot meal while staring up at the night sky.
A subtle sense of calm and security cloaked around, warming you like the low ambers of fire as you stole glances at the man. The stranger. You knew better than to place your trust in someone you just met. But he- Schlatt- you leaned back in an attempt to physically recoil from your thoughts- he felt different. He acted different. His eyes didn't glaze over with violence or greed, they didn’t linger on you too long for you to suspect anything nor did they threaten you (unprovoked that is). They just looked tired. Eyes that had seen too much, all the chaos and massacres that plagued the world. Eyes that bore witness to his hands trembling in disbelief as he had done the very things he swore to never do. All the scars on his face and the calloused skin proved that. Tiered tiered eyes.
You felt inexpressible relief-
Don’t.
-and a bit of regret.
You let out a long and heavy sigh, not letting your mind wander to hope for anything more than this. This was good. You would live another day.
This was good enough.
"Nice truck." You commented. It was a pretty decent rig by the looks of it; a four-seater and cargo bed which was covered with a tarp. With the way it was rusting and had its paint scratched off exposing silver streaks of the body, the poor thing had definitely seen better days. "Headed anywhere in particular?"
"Not really. The last place we-" him and the cat "were staying was ambushed by raiders. Was near the deserted FEDRA hospital down south- y'know the place where they were looking for a cure?" Then it clicked. Since FEDRA abandoned the building and withdrew the general area, quite the ruckus started going down there. Hunters started marking the area as their land. No longer heavily guarded by FEDRA soldiers, raiders slithered their way in. And that was when you first heard his name. Schlatt. He was the only one, who supposedly, gunned down more than half of the raiders before finally escaping. "We made it out just in the nick of time."
"Were... there other? With you?"
"Yeah, but uh, we got separated." Schlatt pulled out a walkie-talkie, flicking it on to only hear the sound of steady static. "It's been months so-" He cleared his throat, "They're as good as dead at this point."
But you're going to put that radio back in your backpack or on the dashboard of your truck. Flicking it on every few days or so, telling yourself that they're dead but unable to take out the batteries that could be used for something better in the future, holding on to that sliver of hope. You won't tell him to lose that hope, since hope is the only thing that keeps most of you going. “I’m sorry.”
"Nah, don't worry about it." Schlatt flicked it back off.
“Hmm...You’re headed east from here?” You asked.
His brows raised as he looked a bit off to the side, “Sure.” He wasn’t. It was as clear as the night sky that he didn’t know where the hell he was going or where he wanted to go.
“Drop me off a few miles from here.” You placed a hand on your thigh. “I’ve got...” A beat passed. Hesitation crawled up behind your neck before somehow letting go. “I’ve got a place. A small farm.”
“A farm? Like with cows and shit?”
“More like Chickens. And a garden. And running water.”
"Chickens?" The corner of his mouth twitched upwards in surprise, for the first time giving you something besides a sneer or dead-eyed glare. The only place he knew that had some sort of functioning farm was at some place called Jackson. “Aha, think you can spare some for this little guy?” He asked, eyes pointing towards Jambo.
“Why not? Drive me there and if you’d like, umm, you can rest there for a while before heading off to wherever you need to go.”
Schlatt squinted at you, "I hope you're not planning to kill me. Like, I drive you to your so-called base and a dozen men show up out of nowhere." It wouldn't be the first time he fell for something like that, but that was years ago and he now knew better than to just walk into a trap like that. A teasing grin played on his face. You shook your head, mirroring the grin and relaxed a bit as you felt a bit of the ice break between you two. “What? You pull a gun on me and think I’d trust you just like that? Geez.” Craning his neck back, his eyes turned towards the sky, looking at the moonless night while tapping his thumb on his hand and the cogs in his brain turning.
Schlatt turned back to you. "Promise not to kill me?"
How often did people keep up with those?
"As long as you promise not to kill me... or steal my shit."
Not often these days.
Schlatt let out a chuckle, showing off the row of his upper teeth. "You've got yourself a deal."

Tumblr media
Ah the Moon, seeing all the secrets the night holds, a constant shadow behind it to hold the wishes of the hopeful. I like to believe I'm like the Moon, drifting through the night, singing songs through the quiet onyx sky. But the Moon is also alone, it listens to the wishes and secrets of the world but who is there for the Moon? Who does the moon turn to when its thoughts scream louder than space?
And there was the Sun.
The Sun was always there for the Moon, giving it warmth and comfort against the harsh vast of space. This went on for eons, mutual pining, wanting to be close, facing but never reaching, until finally, they had enough.
The Moon held the Sun close as they spun, dancing across space and time to the music of their beating hearts. The Moon sees millions of stars but the one that is closest to it shines brighter than anything else.
The Moon stared, the light of its life is standing right in front of it, all it had to do was speak.
Was it being selfish? Wanting this embodiment of light for itself? It'll never be like this radiant beauty, it never has a single face to show like the Sun. The Moon will always have a different face to show the Earth, but the Sun will always follow the Moon's true face.
The Sun sat still as the Moon faced it directly, the Moon stood there, looking at the Sun with longing, and it said, "There were times when I almost lost you, times left you alone in the vast empty darkness, times when you questioned my love for you. But for every tear you shed, a star is born. You were the one to fill the galaxy with stars and light when I only saw black and ice. And the only dark days are when I turn my back to you; so no more, I won't be turning back from your light. I won't be turning back to darkness. I love you, always."
The Sun said, "I love you too."
And there, a sign of their commitment, a gold ring in the sky.
Tumblr media
A soft cool breeze carries the decadent scent of fresh pastries across the streets, the park, pink with a layer of cherry blossom petals sets the scene for a bright spring morning. Hongjoong hears the faint laughter of children, the sound of a violin, and the soft voice of a woman, as he soaks in the morning sun.
The petals fall to the violin song around her, and he swore he never saw anything just as beautiful as that moment in time when you both locked eyes, he swore he heard the chime of a bell as they held each other’s gaze, the cherry blossoms twirl to a silent song, carrying the wants, hopes, dreams, and promises of something new.
Hongjoong’s life was dull for the longest time, gone were the days of vibrant colors and life in everything, but this woman has a certain magic to her. She wiped away the monochrome hue and filled his world with color as she smiled at him.
“Hey, staring is rude you know?” She giggled at him, he snapped out of his stupor, face reddening as he shook his head, offering him a small smile.
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize I was staring. Your voice is beautiful by the way.” He smiled sweetly at her.
“Do you wanna duet with me?”
Tumblr media
Months have passed, it’s the end of spring, and the nights are warmer, especially when Hongjoong sits next to the girl who captured his heart. Sitting at the cliffside with a warm coffee cup in his hands, he takes a deep breath before he speaks.
“Can I say that I love you?” He laughed quietly,
“Of course, but what brought this up?” She asks lightheartedly.
“Well, I remember coming here with someone before, we fell in love quickly, something you’d find in dramas or novels. I stayed with her until the end, but I never once told her I loved her. Only for her, I would’ve gathered the stars, because with her is where they belong.”
She stares at him, “Hongjoong, I know you loved me. Let me go.”
Hongjoong turned back to the polaroid in his hands, the song of her laugh echoes and carves into his heart as he reminisces on the time they spent together. His emotions form the symphony of a grieving, broken man.
The storm has passed, and he looks up to the sky. A brilliant blue, a bittersweet goodbye. He remembers her laugh, it always made him smile. In that single beat, both their paths met, so he took that vow, to shine brightly for her.
Under a million stars that spring day, a single love was born, a burning light to last the test of time, winter to spring, the day into the next, a symphony of all their dreams together.
He misses the magic of ordinary days,
And she’s still the orange of the sunset in her dreams.
“I just really wish that you were here because just seeing you in my dreams isn’t enough.” He says, barely above a whisper, “So we can pick up our duet because I refuse to believe we’re finished.”
He turns to the now empty space next to him, “I hope the stars hold you better than I ever have, I’m sorry that I didn’t make it to the hospital in time, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there with you.”
He looks up to the sky, stars shining down on him, “I just really wish that you were here to compose another memory. I promise, when I find I’m missing you, I’ll play our symphony.”

our summer together ; wen junhui x reader
gender neutral reader, slow burn kind of, fluff, implied prince au + implied historical au warnings food requested by @tyongf-sunflower99 i tried to incorporate the prince thing i rly did but it's js implied here SORRYY your summer with a stranger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the summer you had spent with wen junhui had been a dream like no other, a dream you would never forget, but one you'd find yourself doubting the existence of.
the sun had been shining, the skies blue, and the grass a perfect shade of green. it was almost like a fairytale, though the feeling of the grass on your skin and the beating of your heart reminded you that this was reality. and your heart only beat faster when he came into your sight, wandering through the forest in the distance and eventually into the clearing where you lay. though you were strangers, you felt a sense of intimacy, being the only two people in the clearing. you watched him through your drowsy eyes, slumberous from the hours you had spent under the sun, as he took the view in, and eventually, his eyes met yours. you found yourself awake, taking in the man's face, too enchanted to even think about taking your eyes off of him. it was as if every line, every detail, all the carvings of his face were then forever carved into your mind and heart, to stay with you forever. and though he opened his mouth, no words came out, but it was comfortable. the silence was broken only by the sounds of birds and the sounds of the earth beneath you, and it was serene. you felt the rustle of the grass as he took a seat near you, lying down beneath the sun. it was so natural, for him to be beside you, for your hands to meet each other and your fingers to link with his. it felt like you had a history, like you had loved each other for centuries.
the next day you found yourself on the same path to the clearing, a basket of fruits in one hand, the grass still green and unworn, though there were slight patches that showed junhui was already there. as if he had already known, a blanket was laid beneath him, rocks pinning down the corners to prevent it from flying away. he smiled at you when your eyes met, and you sat on the other end of the blanket, setting down the basket between the two of you. the sun was white and high in the sky, and today the birds were chirping around you, flying above your spot in the clearing and sitting around your blanket. you shared the fruits, which were hand-picked from your backyard garden. when the juice from the apple you were eating fell down your chin, he leaned over to wipe it off with his handkerchief before it reached your skirt. "thank you," you said softly. he smiled and nodded. though you found the silence to be serene, you wondered if he felt the same. throughout your time together, he looked at you as if he wanted to say something, opening his mouth just to close it again, looking at you with widened eyes. but once your basket was empty, the pits of the fruits scattered in the forest by him, you found yourself drifting off with him.
the sun would rise and the sun would set and each day you would find yourself walking to the same clearing, basket in hand, and you would find him waiting for you. the days grew longer and with it came the time you would spend with him. you would hear his voice for the first time when the sky had begun its transition from blue to black, and the stars and moon were shining brighter than their sun. "it's getting late," he'd said, his face flushing. "i should walk you home." "that would be great," you replied, smiling softly. the two of you got up and he held onto your basket for you, walking you through the forest. once you were out of the woods you told him your address and you walked together, the sounds of the countryside calming. and once you reached the door of your family's small cottage, you felt you should have been ashamed of the humble nature of the house, but with him, you didn't feel any shame. with him, you were comfortable, always, even when you were guided only by the moonlight and his footsteps. you felt him watch you as you unlocked the door, waving goodbye to you as you disappeared into the warm light of the house.
the sun was bright as ever the next morning. you found yourself feeling hot even as you prepared sandwiches in your kitchen, the sky still a warm yellow. you walked carefully through the now yellow pathway through the forest, though by now there wasn't much in your way. as the trees got less and less dense, you saw him there in the distance, the same blanket beneath him, a bowl of fruit beside him. it wasn't usual for him to bring any sort of food with him, but you welcomed the gesture nonetheless. you felt like it meant he planned on staying longer today. "hi," you smiled, sitting down on the blanket. "hi," he smiled back. "i don't think i ever told you my name, but i'm junhui." the name sounded familiar to you, for some reason, though you couldn't quite remember why. it didn't matter to you, because, god, his voice was really attractive. you hoped that he'd talk to you more from now on. you introduced yourself back and opened the basket of sandwiches you'd made. "i hope you like them- i wasn't sure what kind of sandwich you liked so i made all the ones i could think of…" you blushed, a little embarrassed at how many you had made. "oh, thank you." he replied, taking a ham and olive sandwich from the basket. "i don't have much of a preference, i just don't like eggplant." you two ate for a while, not talking. "these are really good." he covered his mouth.
you'd come to learn more about him as the days went by. he talked to you more- some days you'd stay until sunrise, talking to each other about everything and nothing.
it was late august, the sun was low in the sky and the stars were beginning to shine. you could see the moon, barely, against the orange sky. "summer's almost over," junhui remarked. "the sun used to set later." "it's only august," you replied. "we still have a month left." "not me," he looked at you suddenly. "i think i love you, yn." "i've been thinking the same." and then he did it. he kissed you- though only long enough for you to remember the feeling of his lips against yours. he pulled away soon after. "i'll walk you home?"
the next day the sky was blue. you'd slept in later than usual, but you assumed junhui had done the same. the grass was green, as were the leaves on the tree, and there were flowers in the grass you'd never noticed before. the day seemed perfect. you'd decided on just fruits today, and you hummed to the sounds of the birds chirping and the bag of cherries and grapes moving around in your basket. the clearing began to come into your view, but junhui didn't. so you sat on a log, afraid of getting grass stains on your clothing, and you waited. he'd slept in, you assumed.
you waited the next day. by the third day, you didn't bring anything in your basket. you'd still wait until sunset. you waited every day, until the middle of september, and he never showed up again.
next summer, you would wait. you knew he wasn't coming.

Wild woke up in the middle of the desert without a thought in his head. That’s what he always said. He knew the basics of living. How to talk, listen and knew to keep himself warm at night. But how to start a fire was gone to him. How to ride a horse, fire his pistol, and even what plants on the side of the trail he could eat were all lost. But nothing shocked the man more than when someone asked him his name.
“You ain’t even know your name?” The bartender asked him, throwing the rag over his shoulder. “You sure is a wild one, ain’t ya, friend?”
Wild kept the name from that day on, finding it suited him better than anything else. He traveled from place to place, attempting to find somewhere to settle for a time. His body couldn’t seem to calm until he found what he was looking for. Always searching for something.
He had his pack thrown over the back of his light brown horse, hat pulled low over his face when he heard whistling from his left. His braid fell over his shoulder as he looked to the sound, eyes falling onto a man with a shovel. The shovel hit the earth, pulling piles from it. It added to an ever-growing mound next to the man, the tune never stopping as he worked. Wild pulled on the reins, willing his horse to stop as he watched the man. His eyes carried over to a white sheet, wrapped neatly around a log shape. At a closer look he saw a pale hand falling from it. The tune grew in volume, Wild dropping to the ground.
“Say, whatcha doin’ over there?” Wild called, pulling the man’s attention to him.
The whistle stopped as he looked to Wild. He pushed the shovel into the mound of dirt, “What’s it look like? I’m diggin’.” A small smile fell across his face.
“Well why you doin’ that?”
“Well, who else is gonna do it?”
Wild thought for a moment, “I can do it.”
The man laughed lightly, “It’s hard work, kid. You sure you wanna be dealin’ with the dirt and bodies?”
Wild’s gaze fell back to the sheet, blowing lightly in the wind. “Yeah, I’m sure. I ain’t scared of no spirits.”
The man’s smile widened, “It ain’t the spirits you gotta be ‘fraid of.”

Wild’s time working with the gravedigger lasted long enough for him before he was off again. The itch to keep moving hitting him in the middle of one night, so he did. After a few days of riding, he came across a sign, arrows pointing in two different directions. After looking over the sign, he turned left. If he could read, he would have known the sign said “Lon Lon Ranch”.
He rode into the ranch at sundown, his horse desperate for a break and his hat rubbing a burn into his hairline. He took a deep breath as he looked to the large farm house, maybe I can stay in the barn for the night. Sliding off the saddle, he made his way to the door, pulling his hat off his head. He raised his hand and knocked.
“I got it!” A voice called from the other side of the door. When it opened, he was met with a face not much older than his own. “Can I help ya with somethin’?” The boy asked.
Wild cleared his throat, “I’m just passin’ on by and I was wonderin’ if there was anyway I could stay in y’all’s barn for the night. My horse, Pickle, here could really use a break and-“
“Ya horse’s name is Pickle?” The boy laughed lightly and Wild could have sworn he heard a pistol click back into place behind the door. “Why dontcha come on in. My Ma’s makin’ dinner and I’d bet she’d make ya an extra plate.”
Wild just seemed to simply never leave from that point on. A warm meal in his stomach every night, a job to do, a roof over his head, and a new addition to their winter team.

Warriors’ badge sat heavy on his chest. It often did these days. Each point of the star would dig into him as he would handcuff another petty criminal. Dragging them back to the sheriff’s office and throwing them into a cell. They would often beg and plead with him. Offering him part of the cut from the run as he locked the door tight. Their pleas would fall on deaf ears as he would turn away from them, leaving them to rot in their own cells.
He worked the same shift for years, early morning to midafternoon. Once he was off, he would gather himself and make his way home. Preparing a dinner for himself and his brother. Making sure they both went to bed with full stomachs. Being a sheriff was good money, especially when it was just the two of them. The small house that had been left to them after their parent’s passing was well kept. Warriors was sure to keep the pantry stocked with basics and that Wind had every book he could need for school. Anytime the boy needed a new pair of shoes he was getting some freshly made, even if his own boots were torn through.
He took care of him the best he could, and that was all Wind could ask for. Assuring him that he would continue schooling and go off to work in a big city one day. Maybe be a lawyer for all these criminals his brother locks up.
Warriors had a rough week, throwing moonshiners and black-market sellers in the slammer over and over. It seemed there was a strange influx in them suddenly.
He slammed the door to the cell, a bruise already forming across his cheek. “You’re gonna have a fun time in here. Lemme tell ya.”
The prisoner spat to the floor at his feet. “You’s gonna regret this, pretty boy. Lemme tells ya, as soon as boss gets word ‘bout this it’s over for ya.” He ran a thumb across his neck in a mock execution. While doing so, Warriors caught a look at a red tattoo marking his arm, an inverted eye.
“If you got caught this easy, I’m sure ya boss ain’t gonna be too much of a hassle.” Warriors turned from the cell, waving his hand as he did. He heard the man shouting as he closed the door to the cellblock behind him.
“He was a talker, huh?” The deputy asked, looking up to him from the desk.
Warriors laughed, “You could say that.” He patted the mans back. “Say, I think imma head on home. Kid’s probably already in bed by this time.” He waved his goodbyes as he made his way out the door. His tan and speckled horse was tied in front of the station, which he greeted before releasing and mounting. He turned towards home, dust hardly picking up behind him.
He opened the door to the small home, knocking the dirt off of his boots as he entered, “Sorry it’s so late. I’m home.” He sighed at the lack of response. Heading down the hall to Wind’s bedroom. He knocked lightly on the door before opening it. Wind wasn’t where he expected him to be. He scrunched his eyes at the empty bed, leaving the door open and going to the main room. “Wind, where you at, kid?” He checked the couch, even his own bed. He started throwing open closets, checking under beds, cabinets anywhere he could think. He went back to the front door, pulling his boots back on in a haste when he saw it.
A note held onto the door with a bloody knife. He breathed a ragged breath, ripping the note off the door.
Hello Sheriff,
It seems that you threw one of my men in the slammer today. I don’t take too kindly too that. So, I took this screaming kid brother of yours. He’s a feisty one, let me tell you. I wish I could say the blood on the knife wasn’t his, but kid just wouldn’t come quietly. Now here’s the deal, bring me my man and I’ll give you the kid back. You have until sun up. If you’re too late? Well, I think you know.
                                -Kohga
Warriors flipped the note over, searching it again and again for a location. He crumbled it and shoved it in his pocket, snarling. He looked to the knife again, pulling it from the wooden door with a creak. He looked over the blood on it. His brother’s blood. He shoved it into his boot, throwing the door open and hoping onto his horse. He dug his spurs in, headed back to town. Planning to search every last building in town if he had to.
He started with the old stables on the edge of town, finding nothing but rats and feral cats. Next, he tried an abandoned general store, to similar results. When searching an old barn, he got some answers.
He threw the man to the ground, the same red eye tattoo marking his neck. Warriors cocked his pistol as he took aim, “Where is he?”
“I ain’t know what you talkin’ bout!”
A gun shot, smoke coming from the ground next to the man’s head. “I won’t miss next time. Where is he?”
The man’s eyes were wide, “The old mill! You know the one!” Warriors nodded, another gunshot filling the air. He wiped blood from his face with his pistol hand, spitting on the ground.
He made his way back to his horse, waiting outside. He mounted her quickly, looking to the ever-rising sun on the horizon. Willing the horse to pick up speed, he headed to the old mill. He felt heavy in the saddle the closer he got. He pulled his pistol back out, assuring it was fully loaded before flicking it closed. The horse slid to a stop right outside the door as Warriors jumped off, stumbling to his feet. He held his pistol tight as he threw the door open, taking aim to the inside.
The only thing he saw was a small figure laying in the middle of the room, crying lightly. The light was barely into the room, but he could recognize his brother anywhere. He ran over, looking around as he did so to be sure they were alone. He fell to his knees next to Wind, pulling his head into his lap. “Come on, kid. Talk to me.” Wind let out a choked sob as Warriors brushed a blonde curl from his face. He looked over his body. His ribs were misshapen, a broken arm, was that a bullet in his leg? Warriors picked him up as easily as he could, only getting more cries from Wind.
“I know, kid. I gotcha.” He made his way back out the door, putting Wind onto the horse first before he got on. He rode as fast and gentle as he could back to the town, calling out to the doctor from the street.
The doctor ran out as he pulled Wind from the horse, carrying him up the steps. “Please, help him. I don’t know what happened.” The doctor opened the door as his wide eyes looked over Wind’s abused body.
“I’ll do what I can, sheriff.” Warriors winced at the name, laying Wind down onto a bed.
“Look after him, I’ll be back.” Wind grabbed his hand as he went to leave, causing him to turn back. “What’s wrong?” Wind could only shake his head before he fell unconscious, his hand falling from Warriors’s. The doctor rushed next to him, injecting him with some kind of medicine as a nurse began wrapping his bleeding wounds. Warriors could only watch the chaos.
I caused this. I got him hurt. I did this. I have to fix it. The door slammed behind him before he remounted his horse. He rode back to the station, rushing inside and past the yelling and conversing deputies. He threw open the door to the cell block. His hand went inside one cell, pulling the gang member to the cell door by his shirt.
“Tell me every fuckin’ thing about your gang.” His words were vicious in the other man’s face.
“Gang is a harsh word-“ He pulled him hard into the cell bars, knocking his head against them.
“I’m not playing games! Tell me everything!”
The man’s eyes were open as blood trickled between them. “Okay! The leader’s name is Kohga! We all hafta these tattoos when we agree to join! The leader is crazy! If you go against anythin’ he says he’ll kill you on the spot!”
Warriors’s hands tangled in the fabric until it started to rip, “There’s more.”
“We have our base close to the edge of the desert, though for this town we were stayin’ in an old barn and mill!”
Warriors’s squinted before letting him go, he fell back, hitting the wall behind him. “If I find out anythin’ you said was a lie, I’ll kill you.” He turned and left without a second glance.
He searched the town for days. Looking for any trace of Kohga or another gang member hiding out but none showed. He made the decision to resign as sheriff. And as soon as Wind was well enough, he let him pick out a horse of his own from the stables. They would need two for traveling. He and Wind packed up the bare essentials and a few personal items of their parents and put the packs over the backs of their horses. Planning to only return once Kohga had been dealt with.
They traveled through many towns, even edging the desert. It took months before they found a sign at a branch in the road. One pointing to a town, another to a ranch that could be seen in the distance. Given that it was hot and they had been traveling for days non-stop. Warriors gave into Wind’s begging to go to the ranch instead of the town.
The smell of stables and hay filled their senses when they got closer. Wind snuffling his nose and Warriors laughing at him. “You’re the one that wanted to come here so bad, kid.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t expect it to smell like shit.”
“Langue.” Wind rolled his eyes. They got to what seemed to be the main house before getting off their horses, Wind stumbling a bit when he did. Warriors knocked, the door being opened shortly after by a redheaded woman.
“Well, howdy, gentleman. What can I help ya with?” She smiled as she dropped her apron from her hands that she was drying.
“Well ma’am, me and my brother here were passin’ on by and we were wonderin’ if there was anyway you could spare a room in the barn for us tonight.” Warriors spoke, smiling widely. The woman looked over to Wind who waved from behind him, she smiled. “I think I can do more than offer you a room for the night. Why don’t you come on in and meet my son and husband?”

A dreamy smile spread across Julian's face as his gaze fell on his forearm. Apparently they had lain awake late again tonight or were bored, because now his entire arm was decorated with elaborate flower ornaments in ballpoint pen. Slowly he traced the lines, one after the other, and with each curve, with each flourish, his smile grew a little wider. Ever since he had woken up on his sixteenth birthday and caught sight of those elaborate lines for the first time, he had been blown away.
Because, to be honest, Julian had firmly believed that he had no soulmate. The soulmate, in his opinion, would not have been his. This was Jules' soul mate. And Jules was no longer alive. Not since he had been brutally dismembered and murdered and replaced by Julian. Even now, when Julian was sure that he had a soulmate, he was still overcome by doubts from time to time. That morning, however, Julian didn't really have time to worry about it.
Though he continued to gaze at the lines tenderly until his arms disappeared into the sleeves of his uniform and continued to feel a warm tingling throughout, his thoughts quickly turned to his work when he was met by an upset Nurse Kabo. Apparently, a freighter that had arrived the day before had not followed the prescribed hygiene regulations and before Odo could expel the freighter, an Andorian flu had spread. Since people on Earth were vaccinated against it from infancy, the number of humans who came in for treatment could be counted on one hand. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the rest of the station.
Julian did not have a quiet minute until lunch. Again and again a new patient came in, to whom he could give nothing more than a hypospray and a prescription for a few days of bed rest. He should not be misunderstood, he loved his job. This was exactly what he had longed for after leaving the academy. However, after he and Nurse Kabo had treated one patient after the other with the same illness for five hours without stopping, he was about to ask Captain Sisko for permission to simply supply the entire station with the medicine through the air supply. At least this would be a lot quicker. And even if he surpassed "normal" humans in some things due to his genetic enhancement, he was still exhausted as he dropped into the chair with Garak.
"You look quite exhausted Doctor," Garak smiled, tilting his head slightly. "I take it that it has been a busy day?" Julian snorted and stabbed his fork into the piece of meat on his plate. "The day is only half over and I'd love to strangle the captain of this freighter right now." "Now, now Doctor," Garak returned indignantly, but Julian could see his amusement in his eyes. "As Doctor, aren't you supposed to make sure the patients are all right." "He's not a patient yet," Julian retorted grimly. Apparently Garak thought it best to change the subject, for he pointed to the Doctor's forearm, which had become visible through his rolled-up sleeves. "I see you have discovered your artistic streak Doctor."
Instantly Julian's temper calmed. "No, not me." "Ah." Garak's face reflected his manner of understanding. "Then I can assume this is the work of your soul mate." Julian nodded. "I have no idea who they are, but since I was sixteen I've been receiving these little works of art every day. I'll be honest, over time they've started to have a calming effect on me." Garak's eyes sparkled. "Then I really really hope you're receiving new drawings right now when you get in touch with the freighter captain." Julian smiled grimly. "It would be better for him."
Garak started to say something further, but he was interrupted by the beeping of Julian's badge. "Sickbay to Doctor Bashir." Julian closed his eyes for a brief moment before replying. "Bashir here." "Sir, a Bajoran transporter has just docked. It was attacked by Dominion ships and there were several wounded." "I'm on my way." Julian gave Garak an apologetic look, but he waved it off. "Oh, don't worry about me. I quite understand that your job takes priority." Julian nodded his thanks before rising and making his way towards sickbay.

Y/N hissed briefly as Captain Anyon's fingers dug into their forearm and thus into their open wound. However, they gritted their teeth and lifted the unconscious woman onto the table that the nurse had indicated to them. The nurse, however, seemed to have noticed their grimace, because she turned to them and eyed them with a raised eyebrow. "Are you all right?" Y/N nodded curtly, then gestured with their unwounded arm towards the sickbay door that led out onto the promenade deck. "I'll get the others." The nurse only nodded absently, having already attended to Captain Anyon. Y/N used this brief moment to take one deep breath. The pain was getting hotter and their arm was beginning to throb. Despite this, they turned around but bumped into a young man in the doorway outside.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you. I was in such a hurry that-" "It's all right," they choked him off quickly, giving him a pained smile. "No harm done." "Are you sure? After all, I-" "Doctor," they interrupted again. At least they assumed from his uniform that he was a doctor, even though he seemed quite young. "I'm sorry to interrupt you again, but I have to get the other injured people out of the transporter. And from the looks of it, you have work to do." The young man stared at her from widened eyes. "Of course. I forgot. Excuse me." He rushed into sickbay and Y/N, shaking their head, made their way back to their transporter to get more patients out.
On their way to the docking bay, other crew members and security officers met them carrying wounded people in their arms to sickbay and they felt sick. However, when they arrived at their transporter, they found that all the wounded had already been carried out. Y/N asked if they could go on board to secure some things, but the security officer refused access. Apparently it was too dangerous to board at the moment and they would have to wait until the Chief gave his okay.
Frustrated, they turned around only to come face to face with the security chief. "Odo." A wide smile spread across their face as they saw their old friend. They had met him a few years ago when he had saved them from execution on the station under occupation. Odo nodded at her and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly what with him was like a bright smile with a welcoming hug. "Y/N." He lowered his voice slightly and leaned forward slightly. "Are you alright? Were you hurt?" They had to suppress a smirk. It was so typical of Odo not to let on his concern for the feelings or needs of others.
"Everything's great. A few minor scratches, but I' ll be fine." "You're bleeding." He pointed to their arm. Y/N stifled a grimace. Apparently the cut had been a little bigger than she'd thought after all. "That's Anyon's blood," they lied. They could see from Odo's face that he didn't believe them. "Is it?" Odo straightened up. "Then you won't have a problem with it." Before they could ask what exactly he meant, his hand shot forward and squeezed their forearm, eliciting a low whimper and a string of Bajoran swear words that their mother would have washed their mouths out with soap for. " Bloody hell, Odo!"
The latter, however, only pulled his arm back enough to grab them by the elbow. "Hey!" Odo just sighed out grumbling. "Come on now. You need to be treated."
"There are dozens of other people in sickbay who need treatment more urgently than I do." Odo pulled them behind him into the lift. "Promenade deck." He turned to them. "That doesn't mean you have to suffer. Knowing our Chief Medical Officer Doctor Bashir, I'm sure he's finished with half of them by now. If need be, you just wait there." Y/N frowned. "Who is Doctor Bashir?"
Before Odo could answer, however, they knew. Before the Federation had come, there had been no Chief Medical Officer. And Y/N had frequently been in sickbay after the occupation and had met all the staff, apart from the Chief Medical Officer. Therefore, this Bashir had to be the young man she had run over and snapped at this morning.
"He's from the Federation. Young, lanky, quite tall, dark hair and a grin on his face forever," Odo grumbled. "You don't seem to like him." "I respect his work," he returned. "However, he is a little too motivated and optimistic for me sometimes." They shrugged and something occurred to them. "You distracted me!" Odo chuckled softly. "I don't know what you're talking about." The lift stopped, the doors slid aside and Odo pulled them with him.
"I hate you," they muttered. They might try to break free and escape, however, they knew that would do no good. Odo would have them back within a few seconds and would then carry them to sickbay. They would not give themselves up to that embarrassment. So they followed him sullenly. "Of course you do." "Now don't get snarky!"
Outside the infirmary they stopped. Surprisingly, Odo seemed to have been right. It seemed a lot quieter and emptier than before. Maybe Doctor Bashir really was good and fast. Or maybe they had just talked to this security officer for longer than they had thought. Odo stepped forward and the doors slid aside. Astonished, they looked at him. "What? Did you think I was just going to leave you here alone so you could get the hell out of here?" He laughed softly. "Forget it."
Resigned, Y/N gave up and followed him inside. There was no one in the infirmary itself. However, when Y/N brought this up and wanted to take the opportunity to escape, but Odo held them back and retorted that they would just have to wait. So they reluctantly settled back in a chair. When Odo pointed out that this was Doctor Bashir's chair, they only crossed their arms and immediately had to stop themselves from wincing. The pain in her wound became more unbearable with each passing minute and by now she was grateful to Odo for bringing her here. Even though she still cursed him for fiddling with her wound.
After twenty minutes of waiting, they slowly lost patience and were about to get up and flee this sickbay when footsteps sounded. Odo straightened up and they also rose. Doctor Bashir came sauntering around the corner, clearly exhausted and they instantly felt a little bad for robbing the poor man of his free time. When he caught sight of Odo, he stopped with a puzzled look on his face and tilted his head. This caused his gaze to fall on them and his eyes widened. Out of understanding or because he recognised them, they didn't know. "Constable. To what do I owe the honour?"
Odo jutted his chin. "Lieutenant Y/l/n was injured during the attack on the transporter, which is why I escorted them here, to make sure they didn't get into any trouble or make a run for it." He gave them one last warning look before nodding in Bashir's direction and leaving the infirmary. As soon as he was out of sight, Bashir turned to them and smiled brightly at them.
" Hello, I guess we've met before, Lieutenant." They nodded curtly. "Seems so Doctor." They paused for a moment. "By the way, I wanted to apologise for being so harsh earlier." Bashir waved it off good-naturedly. "Don't be. I can imagine all too well the pressure they were under. I don't think the last few hours had been particularly easy." They shook their head. "No. They really weren't easy."
"Now then." Bashir gestured to the biobed that made up the centre of the room. "Sit down, please." They complied with his request and settled on the bed while Bashir gathered his medical instruments. "So," he smiled broadly. " What's the trouble?" Slowly they could understand Odo. Nothing and no one seemed to be able to shake Bashir out of his optimism, not even a transporter full of wounded people. Hesitantly they held out their left arm to him. The sleeve was already bleeding through and Bashir paused for a moment. "How did this happen?" "Console exploded and I got hit by one of the pieces." He raised his eyebrow. "And why didn't you come straight to me?" They bit their lower lip. "You had enough on your plate already, and these people needed the treatment more than I did." "Maybe," he admitted, turning to reach for the scissors. "However, that doesn't mean your injury is unimportant. You don't have to suffer." "You and Odo have more in common than you'd like to admit," they murmured quietly. "What was that?" "Nothing."
"Well then," Bashir raised the scissors. "I'm afraid I'll have to cut your sleeve to get at the wound." They just nodded. They were quite convinced that the doctor wouldn't remotely care about their little scribbles. "Get on with it, Doctor." Bashir nodded again before carefully beginning to unravel and remove the fabric. In a few places the fabric had entered the wound and each time Bashir removed them they hissed out in pain. And each time Bashir gave them a look that was both compassionate and apologetic, which they acknowledged every time with a pained smile. As soon as he had removed the last pieces of the fabric, he put the scissors aside and picked up a medical device that resembled a regenerator. "Ready?" They nodded and slowly Bashir ran the device over their arm. Fascinated, they watched him do this and watched as their skin rejoined and closed. Once the process was complete, Bashir put that device aside as well and beamed at them. "See? Good as new." He turned and picked up some cloths. "Just clean the arm and we're done." Only then did they notice that their entire arm was caked with blood and filthy. Their stomach turned at the sight. Bashir didn't seem to mind, however, as he carefully ran his hand over their skin, cleaning off the blood one bit at a time. For whatever reason, his warm hands gave them goosebumps and they had to shake their head to get rid of them.
Bashir looked up. "Are you all right? Did I hurt you?" Hastily they shook their head. "No, no, I'm fine." Bashir eyed them for a moment longer before turning back to his work. Y/N regarded him. Odo had been right. He was tall, lanky and had dark hair. However, he had not mentioned how attractive and downright cute he could be. All at once he faltered, his gaze fixed on her arm. They frowned. "Doctor Bashir? Are you all right?" He didn't answer. His hands began to tremble until he suddenly continued his work faster than before. In no time at all, all the blood had been removed from her arm and the small scribbles were visible again, but interrupted in the place where her wound had been until a moment ago. Y/N looked concernedly over at the doctor. Bashir looked shocked, his eyes were dilated and his mouth hung wide open. "Doctor Bashir?" Slowly they were really starting to worry. They were about to ask a third time when he suddenly whispered softly," I found you." Y/N paused. " I beg your pardon?" He paid no attention to them, but jumped up, spun in a circle and ran his hands through his hair. "I found you!" This time he was louder and even laughed. Slowly they were getting not only worried but scared. "Okay, I have no idea what's going on right now, but maybe I should go-"
"No," Bashir almost shouted, hurrying over to them. "No, please. I can explain, I promise." They hesitated briefly, but then nodded in agreement. Bashir smiled gratefully before he began to roll up the sleeves of his uniform jacket. At first they were confused, but after Bashir silently asked them to look, their breath caught. On his forearm were the same scribbles as on their arm. They were even interrupted in the same place as on theirs. Shocked, they looked up, straight into the doctor's honest, chocolate-brown teddy bear eyes. "You!" was all they could get out. He nodded. "Me." "You're my soulmate?" "Looks like it." His smile was quirky and nervous and it warmed their heart. "So you're the person who's been scrawling something on my arm that no one can read since I was sixteen?" Bashir blushed and nodded sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. "Doctor. Not very nice handwriting. And certainly not as beautiful as your drawings." Embarrassed, they looked to the side. "Oh come on, they're just old scribbles I drew when I was bored." Carefully, as if afraid of hurting them, he took their hands in his. "And yet they made my day and sometimes even saved it, Lieutenant." They laughed shakily. "Y/N. Just Y/N please. I think formalities are overrated now." He smiled even wider. "Then please call me Julian." "I'd love to."
Slowly Bashir, no, Julian straightened up and held out his hand to them. "I'm done. Would you be up for dinner on the promenade deck, perhaps? Provided I don't bore you." Again he smiled shyly. Laughing, they took his hand and squeezed it perhaps a tiny bit tighter than was necessary. " There' s nothing I'd like better than that." Julian's face brightened, but faltered as they added a small but. Smiling, they pointed down at themselves. "I'd like to change first. My clothes are still filthy and bloody from the 'accident' this morning." Julian immediately nodded overzealously. "But of course, right away. How could I have forgotten, I'm so inattentive today, it's not really like me you know. Normally I'm-" He continued his rambling and Y/N looked at him with a small smile. In the past, they had always imagined what their soulmate might look like. But no matter what their little brain and childish imagination had come up with, it would never come close to reality. Their eyes fell on the security office. Odo stood in front of the door with a furrowed brow, watching Julian drag them behind him. However, when they pointed first to their arm, mimed a pencil , then to their heart and finally to Julian, he seemed to understand. He smiled a fine smile, cast one last stern look in Julian's direction, indicating a later conversation ( which the latter did not notice as he was still busy talking ) and turned to enter his office. Y/N smiled to themselves. They owed their friend a big favour for dragging them into this infirmary.

i want to hear you ramble about your au
I FELL ASLEEP LIKE IMMEDIATELY AFTER I POSTED THAT POST BUT YAYYYY OKOK SO.
In this au, I’ve decided 1) that I want to blend the fnaf sb canon as well as the tsams canon and Also my headcanons for both, 2) THAT EVERYONE IS ALIVE AND OKAY, 3) that the exploration and understanding of the kill code is a big focus!
It’s set in a post-Eclipse world where he no longer has the star and no longer continues his reign of terror because he just. doesn’t have enough anger to fuel him to keep going anymore. Eclipse bitterly gives the star back to Moon (who isn’t reset btw!) who either destroys it or keeps it real real locked away, I haven’t decided yet. I think the next several months would be everyone sort of putting their guards down and setting things aside for the sake of being like, “well. we can actually just live… normal lives. we can be like actual people now if we wanted. we don’t have to worry about a persistent, lurking threat… so. who wants to come make a barbie dreamhouse with me.” ya know AHSJABDD
Tumblr media
These are the main situations of everyone in the world right now !! I’m gunna elaborate a lil more on each bc uhmmm I have thoughts and feelings and I’m diseased about my own au. anyways more under the cut LOL
So! Due to a reason I haven’t fully decided on yet (either the pizzaplex is no longer inhabitable or it was shut down because of how much shady shit has happened), Sun and Moon no longer have the pizzaplex to work and stay at and didn’t rlly know what 2 do at that point. Earth says that running their own daycare without the influence of fazbear entertainment over their heads is a possibility, and since it’s mostly second nature to them now, they agreed. The building has an area in the back that is disguised as an “employees only” area but that’s just bc it’s where they have their bedrooms and living space stuff lol
Killcode had insisted it be alone after Eclipse stepped down, but Solar Flare’s base programming said that they must help Killcode at every turn. At this point, their sentience had further developed, and KC was like “dude. buddy. u don’t have to follow ur base code u know that right. u can do whatever u want forever.” and Solar Flare was just kinda like. “well. uhm. well what if i want to still stay with you. what if i just want to be around you, despite my primary objective of protecting you.” and KC was like “that’s. that’s really sweet actually okay if u insist” and now I have to just sort out what their living situation is LMAO
Lunar has their own place!!!! I think this was something I decided almost immediately because I don’t think they’d have a whole HOUSE for themselves, but I do think they’d want their own little one bedroom apartment yk?? So they can actually feel independent!! At the time of the story they haven’t had it long enough to be like, super decorated or anything, but it’s still their own home and they love it to death.
and Bloodmoon is the one who’s often at Lunar’s apartment!!! They visit often enough that Lunar has a little area in the living room for them to call their own, as well as a whole shelf in the fridge dedicated to keeping blood bags so they don’t go hungry when they visit. KC also has the same tho!! Except KC might have a whole room for them, depending on whether I make them settled or wanderers.
Eclipse chose where he lives himself. He knows it’s far, he knows it’s quiet, he knows it’s not really his element, but he knows what he’s done. He knows that most of the cast is still in the area where the pizzaplex was, and he doesn’t want to risk bumping into anyone on the off chance it’s someone who decides they should finish their plan to kill him. He isn’t really better, though. He sits and he stews in his own frustration until he can’t handle it anymore and either breaks something or obsessively buries himself in a project so he doesn’t have to think about his own emotions. A stray cat visits him every few days, though, and he thinks he’s starting to get attached.
ANYWAYS AHAIAHSIAHSD THIS IS ALREADY SO LONG. THE JIST IS THAT LUNAR WANTS TI ACTUALLY KNOW HOW THE KILL CODE WORKS SINCE IT EFFECTS SO MANY PPL IN THEIR FAMILY SO HERE’S A SNIPPET OF THE FIC WHERE LUNAR ASKS BLOODMOON ABOUT IT

My brain got. ABSOLUTELY INSANE over @anxious-twisted-vampire Headmaster Sakamaki au and then i remember me and @adrianasunderworld running gag the nbc transfer be the grandson of Asmodeus Alice/Obey me. So my brain creates this scenario and believe me. The guy carefully planned an equal hell. And protecting his new friends and freedom by summoning his guardian and sparing the man of honor for the grand finale.
——————————————————————————
Asmodeus was a unique student. He sought Night Raven College to be his haven. To be free, not to be like the exact image of Noble Bell College. Those few months were as of bliss and humanity to him. But it all fell when those wretched men came. Ruining his paradise, threatening his family, and all it came to a decision he must make. He stole the men blood carefully. Created circles in his room, all aligned and in order of the avatar of sins to call. But, he was not just calling onto them. He brought the seven vials of blood to be their guide for a hunt.
“My loyal family….. I heed you these offering….” The boy spoke, spilling the blood one by one on each circle. “I ask of you, to rid these men from this earth. And banish their lives.” Then he changed in a malicious manner. To protect his friends and family. He must start a blood shed within.
“My uncle Lucifer, take this man pride and status. Strip him of everything until he is a nobody.”
“My uncle Mammon, steal this man riches and joy. And leave him nothing but coal and despair.”
“My uncle Leviathan, play a game with him and make him lose all the time. I want him to cry.”
“My uncle Beelzebub, leave not a trace of them behind. Not even the bones. I don’t want to remember their existence.
“My uncle Satan, fight this boy until there is nothing left of him.”
“My uncle Belphegor, put this man into an eternal slumber. One he will never awaken.”
He pause, and breathe calmly as he smiled to his plan. Asking his grandfather this favor.
“My dear grandfather Asmodeus Alice, take this man and steal his heart. It is not pure.”
All this. And he made a bigger circle. As he spilled Karlheinz onto it. And smirk. “And I…… shall steal this man life….. he tortured our friends and family. I announce a family hunt. What do you say my dear family?”
The circles echo a laugh, as colors smoked out and reveal the nature of the avatars. The game is set. These men will follow the ends of the earth until the curse is over. Then it’s back to normal. It’s funny. Not one soul beside Asmodeus friends and the prefects knew the boy real family. Is full of surprises that yet to come.
——————————————————————————
Saner Omake Bonus
Asmodeus Lucifer Alice/Twst one: yo grand cool man, uncles, some dick is hurting your favorite human and nephew.
Mammon: *holds a gun* say no more.
Asmodeus: Let’s go.
Lucifer: on my way.
Belphegor: *holds blowtorch*
Satan: whose drivin?
Beelzebub: *packing every food* I’m ready!
Don’t fuck with a family who has connection. Especially one who is related to powerful demons

Star Butterfly as Emperor Belos AU
A while ago I made a post about a potential au where star butterfly was emperor belos, I thought about it a little and decided to write it down here
Warning: Mentioned Suicide attempt
Branches off from Cleaved, where things went horribly wrong after magic is destroyed.
I consider there to be 5 different ways that monsters interact with magic, some are made of the stuff and would instantly vanish after it was destroyed, another group would be heavily reliant on it to the point of death if it was removed, the third group rely on magic physically or for their daily lives which would be disrupted massively, the next used magic here and there but didn't it wasn't the primary thing they used, and the final group never used magic at all
So by destroying magic, Star accidentally eradicated the first two groups and made life hell for the third, however there was a far more personal consequence of her actions.
When she came back, she wasn't met by Ponyhead and when she asked about her, the ugly truth is revealed as Star and her family hadn't just killed her but her entire species and many more.
By attempting to stop the Solarians, Star had committed her own genocide, this was too much for her and the guilt began to weigh down on her mind.
Until, that strange misty rift that was in the finale appeared with no explanation, she hoped that somehow the destruction of magic wasn't finite or could even be reversed, which is why she ran towards it.
The same thing happened as in canon, Earth and Mewni fused, however this wasn't as good as it seemed at first.
Parts of both worlds were randomly erased or went missing and what remained was scattered on random parts of this newly fused planet, it left almost everyone confused, scared, in danger or even just straight up dead.
The long term effects were nasty. Both the Earth and Mewni governments were suddenly on each other's land with no prior knowledge of how this happened, sudden wars were declared everywhere due to the loss of secure borders which typically ended in a quick but brutal win by the earth nations (assuming their administrative capitals hadn't gone missing) due to their more advanced technology.
Many more people died and the Mewni royal family went into hiding after the US won the war against them (the fusion had left them particularly weak by bad luck).
The Earth governments had also went after the monsters, who also had their own nations in some cases, for the same reasons as the Mewman nations, but also because humanity had the same reaction that the Mewmans had.
Before you ask, no, nobody cared about any out group at the time because of the chaos and danger plaguing the world, this goes for everyone including the monsters and Mewmans, humanity did the most damage because they were the winners of these wars, simple as that. There was a lot of internal unity created by the wars on all sides, but that's it.
Star alongside her family and Marco were all on the run after the kingdom fell, and Star blamed herself for all of this, her impulsiveness and blindness to the obvious has led to the deaths of likely billions.
Marco had a similar reaction, even though he didn't have the full context at the time that happened, his family were part of those who had been erased.
They continued to be on the run until Moon was captured. She was arrested for her part in both the Solarian and Star's genocides. This is where Star couldn't take it anymore and ran off in secret, she found what remained of the well that led the the realm of magic and tied a large rock to her feet with the intent to die.
Instead, she woke up inside the in between realm that exists in the owl house, which is what remained of the realm of magic.
She was confused but tried to take her own life once again, but the green-black sludge just transported her somewhere else every time.
Star eventually figured out how the cubes worked and used it to watch the world she had left behind as there was nothing else left to do. (No, she couldn't meet the collector as he was completely locked up at the time and couldn't leave his mirror at all).
She watched both Mewmans and monsters get agitated at the Earth governments and start revolutions that often failed, she saw Marco looking for her but due to the destruction of magic in that reality she was unable to even speak with him and he couldn't see her.
Centuries passed and Star was stuck in the in between, watching what was left of both world, Mewmans were eventually fused with humans as they were biologically the same species without magic and they continued to fight with the monsters, who in tern fought back with the same hatred. The countless wars and genocides that followed eventually led to Star rationalizing her mistakes.
Mentally, she started to consider the destruction of magic as a good thing due to it stopping the Solarian warriors and being nothing compared to the fusion of the realms and blamed her second error for every bad thing caused by her, even shrugging off the initial deaths and even Ponyhead's passing.
One day, she found an alternate version of Earth that, while being a few centuries behind the one she knew, was untouched by magic... mostly.
There was a different realm, the demon realm where magical beings lived just like Mewni, and their inhabitants were visiting Earth and interacting with humans like she did.
Two people, Caleb and Evelyn, caught her eye. Evelyn was a witch and Caleb was a human, just like her and Marco... and Star began projecting onto them.
She started to think that Evelyn's recklessness would cause damage to Caleb (as the way humans reacted to magic in this different Earth was, well, murderous to say the least) or the rest of the world, so she intervened.
Caleb had a brother named Philip who was looking for him after he decided to stay in the demon realm, Star appeared to him one day inside a mirror and offered to tell him where his brother was and how to get there as long as he kept him from the demon realm all together. Philip actually already wanted to do that so it was a simple choice for him to make, ignoring the fact that Star was a girl in a magic mirror.
Star taught him how to build a portal and Philip arrived in the boiling isles to bring his brother back, which didn't go too well and culminated in a knife fight that led to Philip's death.
Star was once again horrified that he actions had led to another death and she decided that this would be her last mistake. She made it her goal to stop what happened in her world from occurring in this alternate Earth and believed that the only way to stop it was to eradicate every witch and demon before anyone did what she did (lots of psychological projection if you couldn't tell).
Through unknown means, she managed to break a mirror she was trapped in from the other side and set off on her quest to prevent the "destruction of the Earth."
Along the way she wrote a number of books called the Saga of Star Butterfly to document her adventures, which are about as biased as Philip's journal was (I'm not entirely sure why, just go with it).
Thanks to the time travel incident with Luz and Lilith, Star got her hands on the collector who was probably the only one who could teach her the magic needed for the destruction of the isles.
The collector also taught her another thing, his past and exactly what the Archivists were, godlike beings that traveled between universes to document what happens in them, but a few had a tendency to mess with other realities for their own amusement.
Star is now convinced that an archivist created that unexplained rift, as no other evidence of magic was found again. This filled her with rage and gave her a second goal, find the one who planted that rift there and get her revenge (she still partially blames herself for falling for what she should have known was an obvious trap out of desperation).
She took over the boiling isles after that and instituted much of the same systems that Belos would have, becoming the tyrant empress
That's all I have for now.

So… Yeah, hello 😅 It is time for me to present to you my hurt/no comfort fic for @narutoocshipweek. Expect angst, death, sadness… I don't know why I did that, I just- I-
Well, hurt with me 😭
Prompt used: Loss Pairing: Uchiha Obito/fem!Reader CW: Modern AU, Hanahaki AU, Character's death (reader), hospital, mentions of blood, death, other characters making a background, HURT NO COMFORT Word count: 1178 Summary: Obito didn't know about the awful disease that hit you, and when he learned all he could think of was to be on time at least once in his life.
SFW, I guess
The hospital halls were dreadfully cold. They would have been silent too, if not for the heavy breathing of a certain black-haired man, running as fast as his legs allowed him. He didn’t have flowers in his hands, or a box of chocolate, that man who rushed into the hospital usually had. But those men were usually happy ones, delighted for one reason or another.
Obito had nothing, a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, or happiness. His eyes, full of tears, almost didn’t let him see what was in front of him, tripping on the terrazzo stairs, with every breath taken, his lungs felt like they were about to burst - almost like yours, filled with flowers you refused to be removed.
Obito asked himself, why? Why on earth wouldn’t you. After all, what was more precious than your life? The one that you always cherished, and he watched from afar, admiring how you could take what was offered.
And then, you fell sick. Small petals you were coughing out now and then, showing unrequited love you had for someone. Oh, how Obito envied that person. To be the one who you loved, to be the object of your desires. He would cherish you, give you the world, bring every star from the sky… If only he knew.
If only he knew that the dreadful sickness, that damned hanahaki, was his fault.
You loved him, and he was too afraid to approach. You loved him, and he couldn’t stop imagining you with another person, living your life happily, fully, embracing it with even more delight. And now…
Now Obito rushed, as his life depended on it. He needed to reach you before you’d die. He needed to tell you that he loves you, truly, with his whole heart before it would be too late; the phone he received from Kakashi, already waiting in the hospital, made his heart almost stop. To hear that you were suffocating with petals, and he was both the cause and the cure… Even in an important business meeting, he left without a word, probably squandering months of effort on closing a big contract.
It didn’t matter. All that was important now, was to be there on time, at least once in his life.
The corridor was bright and white, and the strong smell of detergents lingered in the air, killing all other scents around. Obito could see his and your friends standing in front of one of the rooms. Kakashi, Rin, Asuma, Kurenai, Iruka… They were there.
Oh, how pathetic he was? While everyone was surrounding you, trying to comfort you and convince you to make this life-saving surgery, he wasn’t there.
And he should, he should be there, goddammit!
The loud thumping of his elegant shoes made the group of people look in his direction. But they were silent. Nobody said ‘good that you’re here, Obito’ or ‘you’re finally right on time!’. Their faces… God almighty, why were they crying? Why was each grimace full of unbearable pain and anguish? No… It couldn’t be.
This isn’t happening. A nightmare he had since the day he learned that you had fallen sick. A dreadful dream where you were dying, without knowing that he loved you more than his own life.
“Obito…-” That was Rin, barely able to speak, words came out hard through the squeezed throat.
“No. No, no, no,” Obito shook his head, grasping the cold handle of the doors, leading to the room where you were located.
“Obito, wait-” Kakashi tried to stop him, but it was too late. Obito entered the room.
He imagined it differently - the beeping of machines monitoring your state, the buzz of the one that helped you breathe, your eyes open, looking at him, with a glimpse of hope… But the silence in the room pierced through his ears. No machine beeped, there was no buzz, your eyes were open but… Still, looking beyond what was in the room. The IV hung loosely on the side of the white bed, sheets and your mouth stained with blood and petals of flowers he couldn’t remember the name. You were not moving. Skin pale, your chest still…
He was too late. Again. Fucking again.
Driven by the despair and urge to feel you close once again, he stepped up to the bed. His big hand grabbed yours, soft and cold, squeezing it so hard you would hiss from pain if you could feel that. “I love you,” a trembling whisper let out his mouth, hoping that the magic spell will cure you, bring you back, and make you his forever.
But you were still, cold, eyes wide open and absent.
“I love you-! Please open your eyes-!”
The desperation in his voice grew, as his plea became louder, echoing from empty white walls. The doors behind him opened silently, but he didn’t even flinch. He didn’t want to let go of your hand, take his eyes from you. In some weir trance he was, he still believed that if only he would tell you what he feels-
“I LOVE YOU!” Finally, Obito started to scream, not minding the place he was in, or that the other rooms were filled with patients too, in better or worse shape, “I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!!!”
Someone grabbed him by his arms, pulling him back from you. He refused, fought to stay by your side, for as long it would be necessary to bring you back. But that someone was adamant, pulling back with all of his strength. A small but firm hand untangled his fingers from your hand, letting friends take him from your body.
“Shut up you idiot,” through tears, Kakashi hissed with a trembling voice, “shut up…”
“I love her. Fuck me, I love her-!”
“It’s too late, Obito.
“No-” tears streamed down Obito’s face, the pain he felt in his chest was burning, taking away every bit of air, “no, it can’t be- Let me go-!”
Forcefully, the three men managed to hold him, restrain him from fighting and squirming, until all strength left his body, leaving him sobbing, hopeless and broken.
“I’m sorry. I’m really sorry, man,” Kakashi held him close, trying to comfort his friend. If he only knew that Obito was the cause of hanahaki, he would have told him immediately. But, you were always a closed person, keeping this stuff for yourself. Saying who you loved on your deathbed brought only a small glimpse of hope, that Obito would be right on time… If only he would have been here, with all of them… “There is nothing you can do, not anymore. I’m sorry, Obito…”
“Why… Why, fucking, why-” the broken man sobbed, cried like a wounded animal. He knew you were in a dreadful state, and he wasn’t here. He promised himself to visit as soon as that damn meeting would end, hoping that he would be on time, seeing your smile, hearing your voice once again, confessing to you the magical words… “Why the fuck I am always too late?”

While psychedelics aren’t anything new to people like Aurora and Nina, it’s a whole new world for Harry. The world is constantly shifting around them, causing light to shine on things that was once hidden in the dark. How things can change with just one small tab…

AURORA’S POV
I wasn't sure how long it had been since we first placed the tablets of acid on our tongues. All I knew was that at some point our regular conversations turned into fits of laughter that caused our cheeks to hurt. It was as if there was no off button and all we could do was let it take control over our bodies– clutching against our stomachs from the pain of happiness.
My guess was that it had been at least an hour since, considering that I could feel my high climbing. Both Harry and I's backs were laid out on the bed of the truck, still unmoved from the spot we had initially been in. I could hear the faint chatters below us, assuming that at some point Ryan and Nina had crawled out of the truck bed and laid on the ground below us. I think I preferred it that way. It gave the familiarity of her voice nearby but with the closeness of Harry to my left. That on top of the vastness above enveloping us together in one was just about as perfect as it could get.
Looking up at the night sky was always something that I found great comfort in. The way I could see the flicks of light flash faintly in the far distance, while others shined as bright as they did every other night before. But, those were my thoughts even when I was sober.
All of my appreciations and perspectives changed with hallucinogens clouding my reality. What was already so beautiful heightened to lengths that I didn't know were possible. Each time felt like a whole new experience, no matter if I was doing the same thing regardless. Under this new perspective, the stars danced in all their forms. They waltzed, they tangoed, they did ballet. They lived just as we did.
Each dance reflected against everything above, including the clouds and the moon. The individual stars were there with their own performances in order to entertain the moon, I figured. Yet, I felt like the only audience member that was taken aback by the show above me. The moon and I gazed together to encapsulate everything going on. It felt like a hug from far away, as if they outstretched their beams of light around my body into the warmest of hugs.
It was beautiful, to say the least. My lips had grown that familiar tug of fatigue from the smile that had drawn so tightly on my face. It was the only thing I knew how to do at that moment. It was the only thing I wanted to do. Needed to do.
I crooked my head to Harry's side, curious how he was doing. I knew I felt great, but I also knew what to expect from it as well. Harry, on the other hand, had no idea. This was his first time after all. I couldn't imagine what he was feeling considering he only ever started experiencing life on Earth fairly recently on top of now experiencing in this new way.
"You okay?" I breathed out softly, peering at him.
He had a hand rested neatly on top of his chest and I watched closely as it rose and fell with his breaths. They looked slightly uneven, possibly a little quicker than his usual pace.
He nodded his head with a small smile, matching our eyes together. "I don't know what exactly is happening, but I think it's nice. It feels nice. Even my clothes feel nice."
I couldn't help but giggle as my eyes ventured towards his other hand that was trailing along the fabric of his shirt. It looked smooth as he rubbed it between two of his fingers and eventually retracted it back to meet his other hand on his chest.
A hardly noticeable layer of sweat had grown on his forehead since the last time I had looked over. If it wasn't for his calm demeanor with his tone, I would have thought he was anxious about what was going on. His tongue would periodically lick over his lips as he looked above him. He seemed just as awestruck by the beauty beaming down on us as I was.
He quickly turned back towards me, now with a slightly concerned look on his face. "Aurora?"
"Yes, Harry?" I almost blushed as his name came out of my mouth so seamlessly. It was like it tickled against my lips as it escaped them, leaving butterflies to flutter out with it.
"Is this the weed, alcohol, or acid?" He drummed his fingers against his chest, darting his eyes around us. He moved them slowly around, like he was trying to take in all of the scenery closely– from the metal of the truck to the blanket underneath us to the water bottle that had been knocked over in the corner. He wanted to see and experience it all.
I chuckled. "It's all of it. Everything, it's all one." I hummed a satisfied breath as I switched my head back above, closing my eyes briefly. I could hear faint gusts of wind brushing along the trees along with Harry's breath beside me. It was as if it was his breaths causing the leaves to brush against one another from so far away.
"But mostly the acid." I joked, concealing a small laugh inside.
"Interesting." Harry responded matter-of-factly. "Does it get stronger than this? I feel like I'm climbing almost. Like my brain."
This giggle was much harder to conceal. "This is just the beginning, Harry. But, it'll be fun, I promise. Just sit back and enjoy the feelings right now. You'll know when you're there." My eyes remained shut, listening in on all the noises around. Harry had grown silent again, but his lack of questioning was usually a good sign. He was enjoying it just the same.
"What do you mean nothing matters? Anything can matter if you want it to. That's the whole point!" I heard Nina ramble below. I could tell by the way she was talking she was waving her hands around like she normally did when she went on her philosophical talks. I smiled to myself as I pictured the image in my head. She always had a way to bring up these things, especially when drugs or alcohol were introduced to the table.
"We're all just a little speck of dust in the grand scheme of things. If we were to just evaporate into dust, it wouldn't change anything about the universe." Ryan rebutted. I heard Nina let out an exasperated laugh as he continued. "Hell, if this one universe evaporated, then what? Exactly! There's so many that it would hardly change anything."
I didn't have to see her face to know there was an eye-roll after that sentence. I was enjoying eavesdropping in on their conversation, playing it like a movie in front of me. I even pictured the stars having the conversation, morphing into Ryan and Nina's faces instead. Instead of the previous dances, they were bickering back and forth about the meaning of life.
It was my show after all. I got to control it.
"You're such a nihilist. It's okay to find meaning in your own life. It's okay just to find bits of happiness in anything we want to. It doesn't have to have a big meaning behind it." Nina retorted.
The star that I envisioned her as was directly in front of me, burning bright in the middle of other fainter stars. Her words caused her brightness to only increase as I sunk deeper in the truck bed, watching.
What she was saying was something that I agreed with, but I didn't put much thought into it before. Whenever she would try to pull me into one of her life talks, I would usually tell her that I just wanted to enjoy my high and not have an existential crisis. But, there didn't have to be a crisis if I didn't want there to be one. That was one thing I never considered.
I morphed my life how I wanted based on the choices I made and found meaning in. Every little "yes" I said or "no" I said to things led me exactly to the spot that I was in right now. If I didn't choose to listen to my parents about their interest in astronomy, I wouldn't have continued this path. Maybe I wouldn't have gone to this school at all– never to have met people like Nina or Harry once in my life.
Maybe I would have majored in marketing. Or business. Or something else that would have piqued my non-astronomical-interested brain at the time.
That was semi-hard to imagine. Besides the fact that this had consumed so much of my life, it was hard to imagine that I could have lived a life so different. A few months ago, never would I have thought that I would be tripping acid with Harry– let alone the fact that he was a being that lived among the stars.
Coming to terms with that felt like a trip all in itself.
But, it wasn't. This was my reality because I made it my reality. I found solaceness in the little things that led me here. In this truck bed.
"It would go noticed if your universe evaporated, by the way." Harry whispered in my direction.
It almost shocked me, forgetting that I was lying beside him. I was so enwrapped with the conversation going on beneath us, that it felt like I was the only one who existed in this reality for a moment.
I turned to look at him as he laid unchanged in his positioning, continually drumming his fingertips over his hand. His one sentence made me feel the most comforted I had felt all night. There was no arguing with a being that knew all the secrets about the stars and the universe it surrounded. He knew it all, and I believed him.
"I think I'm starting to feel it, Aurora. Things are moving." He scrunched his eyebrows, squinting at the night sky above. He seemed to be over the existential debate, now focusing on himself now. "At least I don't think that's normal. I don't remember them moving before. Is that supposed to happen?" His voice was still a whisper, growing quieter the more he spoke. I couldn't hold back another fit of giggles as I watched him so focused.
"That's a part of it. Everything will feel stronger– your emotions, your sensations, things around you. Let your body and mind speak for you." I reminded him.
"My mind is telling me that I'm floating. Almost like I'm back home. It's nice. I wish I could take you to show you." He whispered a little louder this time. It was hard to fight against the small stab of disappointment I felt when he said it. It reminded me that I could only live out his experiences through the stories he told— never to experience it myself.
His hands patted beside him like he was double-checking to make sure he wasn't actually floating. A satisfied hum left his lips once he realized he was still where he last put himself.
"Also I feel all my clothes on me." He said it with a confused spark with his words. "I know I'm wearing them, but they feel funny. Softer, maybe. Smooth? Or is it scratchy?" He battled with himself as he attempted to word how he was feeling. I had yet to say anything, completely enjoying watching him talk himself through what he was going through.
"But it feels good, right?" I smiled at him. His hands were smoothing along his body, lightly tugging at it as he experienced the different sensations.
He nodded his head. "I think so."
"Good. It's okay to feel things. Feel as much as you want, it's your reality—your choice. You shape how you feel, especially tonight. It's all up to you how you want it to go." The words rolled off my tongue as I said them, reassuring myself in the process.
My choice. Always.
But especially tonight.
"Really?" He sounded so innocent as he asked, causing my cheeks to burn.
For some reason, I almost wanted to cry. Not out of sadness, though. Happiness. It flowed through me so powerfully and it was hard to contain it. I felt so at peace in these moments I currently shared with him. All I wanted to do was sit there forever.
"Really." I repeated with a slight blur of tears rimming along my eyes. I blinked them away, spinning my head around.
"We'll be back!" Nina rushed out, causing me to sit up quickly from my spot. She had Ryan's hand in hers, giggling among themselves as she pulled him away.
I watched as they disappeared into the field. I rolled my eyes at them, sinking back down into the bedding that cushioned from under us. I let out a soft breath, focusing back onto the stars.
The music from the truck lulled from behind us, but it was so much quieter than it was when Nina had first turned it on. Guitars sounded through the speakers, making the truck vibrate from under us.
"What is the meaning to life?" I whispered from under my breath, glancing towards Harry out of the corner of my eye before rolling my head to look at him. Harry's eyes widened just slightly, a smile curved onto his lips as he let out a soft chuckle.
"Heavy question, Aurora." He whispered back, shifting his hips slightly as his fingertips ran up and down his torso slowly. "I can't say that I know."
"You are, y'know...other-wordly, so I just thought–"
"Star-being." He stopped me, rolling his head to gaze towards me. "I am a star-being, but even I ask myself these questions. You may think that we hold answers to those kinds of questions, but in reality, we are just as lost as humans. In our own ways."
He paused for a moment, licking over his lips as he furrowed his brows carefully. His features became more bright, more clear when I looked at him. Like, really looked at him. I may have stolen a glance or two from him before, but really looking at him now, it was intense.
"Why are we made so differently?" Harry whispered lowly as he searched my face for any answers. "What is the difference between me and you? Really. We just live on other planets, and other than that, we feel things the same way it seems."
"People don't see you the way I see you." I whispered back to him as I rolled onto my side, blinking hard. "They don't see the Harry that I do."
Harry parted his lips, brows pinched as he gazed at my features. There was a silence between the both of us, for what felt like eternity. In reality, it was only mere moments, but with Harry everything felt like an eternity. Maybe time had stopped, just for us, so we could live in this moment longer together.
His features started to blur together, but not in a way that made him unrecognizable. It was almost as if he had stars that personally kissed alongside his cheekbones. Looking at him was like looking at someone I had known for so long. He felt so familiar to me, and it made my chest shift in a way that was like butterflies rattling in a cage.
And maybe it was that I had known him for as long as it felt. Maybe each time I sat underneath the stars, I was with him and didn't know it. Each time I felt drawn to a specific sparkle above, it was him looking down at me, watching me grow up. Maybe he didn't even know it himself either.
His brown curls that fell into his face looked like someone had taken a colored pencil and sketched them themselves. I looked down to my fingers, wiggling them to make sure that I was still here. That I was really, actually here.
For a moment, it didn't feel like I was. It felt like I was somehow making this up in my mind, and it was playing out in front of me. I waved my hand lazily, watching the tracers of it blur in front of me.
"I'm really high." I swallowed thickly as I rolled onto my back. I ran a hand through my hair, trying to steady my breathing. Behind my eyelids, it wasn't any better than what I was seeing when I opened them.
There were lines of reds, blues, and purples that exploded into the air. Patterns floated around the back of my eyelids, as if I had paid for my own personal psychedelic show. I let out a shallow breath as I went to place a hand onto my heart, but was caught off guard by someone else's touch.
I opened my eyes carefully, looking above me as I saw Harry's hand interlocked with mine, lacing them together. I blinked hard, watching it morph into one colorful abstract blobs. I fixated my eyes towards him with a slight frown on my lips.
"It's okay, Aurora." He whispered softly as his thumb traced over the top of my hand. "Come with me, yeah?"
Harry sat up from the pillows, his hand still interlocked with mine as he crouched on his feet. I blinked slowly, sitting up to meet his height.
"Where are we going?" I breathed out. When I looked out to the field, it was a little intimidating. The stars lit up the field all the way to the treeline of the woods. The trees danced with each other as the wind gusted against our skin to cool us down.
"We–" He said as he jumped down to the grass, a small smile on his lips. "Are going to create our own reality."
I gazed at him in awe. His smile was brighter than usual, thanks to the acid, but it was gorgeous. If it was any brighter, it may have blinded me. Even in the dead of Fall, he made my skin feel like it was Spring, surrounded by bursts of colors and refreshing air. His laughter that sung deep within him could raise lilacs and daisies from the driest of gardens.
He was a magnet, something I couldn't stay away from. A warm feeling flushed through my body as I felt my heart pull me towards him.
I crawled towards the end of the truck bed, taking his hand into mine as I jumped down. My feet hit the grass, and I let out a slow breath. I knew I was okay, but it was the high that was getting to me.
Maybe I was a little too high after all.
I looked down at the grass, watching the flecks of blades melt from under me. The wind that brushed my skin felt like a gentle hug, and when my blood-shot eyes flicked towards Harry, he stood close to my side. His presence warmed my insides, and my heart knocked against the bones of the cavity that homed it.
"Are you coming with me, Aurora?" His voice rang into my ear as he held our hands up together. I blinked hard, taking a step towards him as my grip tightened around his hand and nodded with a weak smile.
The euphoria I felt when he took off into the field nearly drowned me into a pool of happiness. Our hands interlocked with one another as we ran through the field, my mind that was once too overwhelmed with feeling, now became filled with the purest cocktail of dopamine and serotonin.
I watched the grass as my feet pranced through, and with each step, my feet melted into the dirt. My body felt like it was bouncing on a trampoline, reminding me of when I was a kid and my mom had bought me a small one to put out in the backyard for the summertimes.
Tops of the trees looked like they were breathing with each inhale I took. I let out a childish laugh as I gazed towards the stars that spread across the sky. The light kissed my skin and made me feel like I was glowing. I was my own star-being. I was being brought back to a time where nothing mattered, and they hugged me close to tell me all their secrets of the galaxy.
It brought tears that brimmed my eyeline as I slowed my running down. I let go of Harry's hand, bringing myself to my knees, placing my hands onto the ground. I couldn't help but laugh. It was all so unbelievable.
Being so out in the open in nature like this was like a library, I was eager to learn about everything it had to offer. The trees sang to me as the wind blew through them, immersing me into the most ancient melody they have ever sung.
It felt as though I was knowing of everything about what it had to offer–with my entire being. I peeled away my ego, exposing my soul to the rocks and trees. In this moment, I felt my heart fall out of the cavity of my chest and dig itself deep into the roots of the Earth.
The leaves crunched from under my hands, looking up at Harry who was just a few feet away from me. His breathing was fast, placing his hands onto his hips as his chest rose up and down.
"Aurora, what're you–"
Before he could say anything else, I grabbed a handful of leaves and threw them at him. He flinched, a gasp coming from him before he laughed out. He furrowed his brows, bending down to grab some leaves before running towards me.
"No!" I laughed out, tears streaming down my face as I quickly stood upright. My feet carried me as I ran from him, but I heard him coming up on me close. The downfall of being shorter than he was was that he had longer legs to run faster.
My belly hurt from laughing, and I was nearly breathless. I almost forgot where I was, and it felt so freeing. Before I knew it, I had landed into a pile of leaves. I fell with a thud, but it still didn't stop me from laughing.
Harry came from behind me, a high pitched laugh escaping his lips as he dropped the leaves. He put his hands onto his knees, bending over as giggles spilled from his lips continuously. The leaves crunched from under me, my hands feeling the roughness of them as I let out a soft sigh.
My body sank into the pile as if it was a sinkhole that was inviting me to suffocate in it, and I grabbed ahold of Harry's arm to come down with me. The grass underneath only pulled us down deeper in order to feel the comfort of Earth enwrap us together as one.
I opened my eyes to see him already gazing at me, the moon lighting up one side of his face. His eyes sparkled, twisting the faint colors of his irises that were noticeable in the minimal lighting the moon provided.
We shared laughter, echoing back and forth as it bounced around. The chuckles ricocheted off of each other's skin, tickling us as we buried deeper into the piles of fallen leaves.
My laugh got cut short as his hand shot up to my face, skirting around faintly. It took me off guard, as he looked closely at whatever he was brushing off of my cheek. His touch lingered heavily, sending small sparks of electricity through the atoms underneath my skin. His fingers felt like puddy, melting into me as he grazed them over so quickly.
"Your hair was in the way." He whispered softly, almost causing me to forget that we were just bent over laughing moments ago. "I like to see your face."
His wording caused the corners of my mouth to curl, partially from the awkwardness of the sentence, but mostly from knowing what he meant by it.
"I like to see your face, too." I replied back to him softly. I brushed my own hand in front of him, tucking a lock of hair behind his ear that had also fallen from its usual placement.
The twists and turns of his curls sent a rumbling feeling in my chest. I almost wanted to dive into them, swimming along the ridges as if they were the mightiest waves of the sea. I wanted to drown in them, get lost in that sea of his.
Without thinking twice, I inched my body closer to his. His eyes widened momentarily, but readjusted as he found comfort in the new proximity. Shockingly, there was no awkwardness in the silence that lingered between the two of us as we gazed into one another's eyes. I looked carefully at him as he reciprocated.
I wondered if he was surveying me in the way that I was to him. I wanted to understand him. I wanted to see what his eyes saw, feel what he felt, and hear what he heard.
A small leaf danced in the wind atop his head as my eyes continued to wander along his face and I smiled, plucking it away. I watched behind him as the leaf flew away in its own dance of freedom.
Freedom was all we ever needed in life and it could mean whatever we wanted it to. Tonight I didn't have to second guess every action I took, every action I chose, every breath I breathed. All I had to do was live in the moment and take it as it came.
I found my own freedom in that.
Just do whatever I felt I was supposed to.
Before I knew it, the space between us became nonexistent. His hands wrapped around my back as mine did the same to him, pulling us so close that we were glued together. All I could think about was the way his hands gripped against my back and the way his breaths hit against my lips.
I had never been so close to him before, yet it felt like I wasn't close enough.
My mouth collided with his softly, the breaths from his nose tickling against my skin as our lips moved together. His lips were soft like the skin of a peach, his fingers digging into my back as his breathing quickened.
I couldn't believe we were kissing. It felt so right—none of it wrong. All the silent tension between us had finally been broken, and within that, I felt a weight fall off my shoulders.
My fingers got lost into his hair as I pressed our bodies together, one of my legs swinging over to lock around his hip. My lips parted right as his did, my tongue poking out to slowly trace around his bottom lip. I felt his body shiver against me, a low moan escaping from his throat.
His touch set me on fire, my body screaming on the inside for me to do something. More. More. More. My brain was skewed. I had wanted this for so long, and I hadn't even realized it until now.
His tongue met mine, delicately, rubbing the tip against it. My body temperature rose as our tongues pushed against each other's. His large hand pressed harder against my back, causing my shirt to raise. The more contact I could get of our skin together was all I craved, especially as his fingers danced underneath my shirt. He placed them at the low of my back so he could feel me as if he could read my mind.
We were both breathless with the kiss, messily kissing one another until it turned into feverish making out. I fluttered my eyes open for a mere moment, just to look at the pleasure that spread across his face, but instead was met with something even better.
It was very gentle and vague, but it was there. The outline of his body glowed a beautiful purple color. I blinked hard, making sure that it wasn't the acid that was playing tricks on me, but it was Harry that was glowing.
"Are you okay?" I whispered softly against his lips as my fingers gently rubbed through the scalp of his hair. He breathed out unsteadily, his fingers shaking against my skin as he fluttered his eyes open to look up at me.
"More than okay." He whispered back to me, gulping thickly. "It feels really good to kiss you, Aurora."
I nodded my head slowly, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. I adjusted my hips against his, and in doing so, had felt his cock that pressed hard against his pants. It was apparent, but something that I hadn't noticed when we were sharing a kiss. I looked down between us so I could get a good look at it, a smirk curved on my lips.
"I'm sorry, it's never done anything like this before." Harry whispered out, his cheeks red hot with embarrassment. "I can't seem to control it."
For a moment, I couldn't believe I had just given one of my friends a boner, but then again, I couldn't believe that we were all over each other. And to think, I was the one to give him that bliss of small excitement, one that apparently was his first. Even if it was just his first on Earth, I didn't care. It was hot.
"It's okay. I like it." I whispered to him, placing two fingers under his jaw as I made him look at me. I pressed my lips to him once more, starting to delve my tongue across his bottom lip. He let out a low moan, his tongue meeting mine to rub against.
I adjusted my hips once more to meet his hardened cock, and surely got a reaction out of him when I brushed against it. His tongue went still, his nails digging into my skin as he tried to steady his breathing once more.
I pressed my forehead against his, letting out a shaky breath as my core started to throb. He wasn't the only one that was excited. I could feel myself start to ache in pleasure. And almost as if on cue, Harry bucked his hips forward, just once, and that was it for me.
I placed a hand onto his cheek, pulling our hips together as I rocked mine against his. I knew he needed the relief, and I couldn't imagine the drastic difference in sensation that he was feeling. Harry breathed out into my mouth, his hand quickly going to my hips as he felt my core grind against his throbbing cock.
"Aurora–" He gasped out as his eyes fluttered to the back of his head, pressing his forehead against my cheek. I could hear his breathing start to pick up even quicker, his fingernails were digging so deep into my skin that I thought he was going to break the surface.
"It feels good?" I whispered into his ear, breathlessly, a moan following after it. Harry pressed an open mouth kiss to my jaw, his tongue darting out to lap up my skin carefully. I could feel my arousal spread around in my panties.
"Feels really–fuckin' good." Harry growled against my skin. His hand left my hip as it grabbed the back of my neck and clashed our lips together once more. This time he had control, something that I had never seen of him. This was most certainly a side that I never thought I would have ever seen.
I liked it. Really fucking liked it.
His hand went to the back of my ass, having a tight grip on it as his hips started to roll harshly against mine. He moaned into my mouth, sending shivers down my spine. I felt like I was on cloud-fucking-nine. If we didn't stop now, I was going to take it further–something I wasn't sure if Harry was ready for.
Placing a hand onto his chest, I slowed down the kissing until we came to a full stop. I knew myself. I knew that I would crush under pressure and potentially go further. It was Harry, someone that sparked a fire inside of me, and if anything he had a sense of irresistibility to me. I wasn't sure why, but he just did.
"I'm sorry—" He swallowed thickly, his hips coming to a full stop. I looked down between us, seeing that there was a small wet spot on his zipper. I chuckled. He was wet because of me. It was a proud moment.
I was fortunate he couldn't see the similar fate between my own legs, too.
"Don't be sorry." I said breathlessly, running my hand over his cheek slowly. He stared into my eyes with awe, a glint of adoration. I was looking at him just the same.
"I just—" He pulled from my body, leaving a cold feeling as he rolled onto his back, his eyes fluttering closed. "Give me a second to calm down."
I could have done a lot of things to take care of his problem. It was all in the open for me. I was sure, if prompted, he would have let me, but it seemed that he felt embarrassed for feeling something so strongly. Something that he may have never felt before.
"Have you ever..." I rolled over towards him, gesturing towards his boner that seemed to be calming down. "Had...sex?"
He swallowed thickly, a silence following after my invasive question. His eyes opened slowly, staring up into the sky as he placed his hands onto his chest.
"Back home, yes." He said honestly.
"Is it different?" I scooted myself towards him, placing a hand onto his. I was curious. Was the sensation different? Did they do it differently than humans?
"It's more soul binding than it is pleasurable, but I suppose that you could say that it's different—sensation wise." He glanced towards me out of the corner of his eye. "I'm not blind to the logic of how humans make love to one another, but it is very different on my planet. We can of...blend into one being, if that makes sense."
Soul binding? Blending together? It sounded interesting—almost devastatingly beautiful in a way.
"Oh, okay." I whispered out, nodding towards him. A sudden gust of wind rushed past us, now realizing how chilly it had gotten. How long had we been out here for? It felt like ages, but it couldn't have been more than an hour. Although, my drug-induced mind was never a good timekeeper anyway.
I shivered, rubbing my arms slowly. Harry looked towards me with a frown, noticing how cold I had suddenly become.
"Here." He said softly as he leaned up, pulling the jacket he had off his body before wrapping it around my back. He fixed the arms so it would cover the front of me as well.
"You didn't have to—" I tried to object, but he shook his head, putting a hand up to me.
"Being cold reminds me of home." He said softly as he sank back into the pile of leaves. "It is mostly cold where I am from, so the temperature doesn't bother me all that bad. I actually quite like it."
I hummed again softly, almost envisioning myself on his home planet. I had no idea what it could have possibly looked like, but it was fun to imagine myself walking around on my own drawn-out idea. In my mind, everyone floated in their star-being form. I figured they all resembled what Harry looked like when he showed me his true self, too. They were all beautiful as they brushed past one another. Maybe it was like one big campsite on a moon-like surface. Maybe they could even touch the nearby stars if they wanted to. Its cold touch only tickling against their own fingertips, completely unaffected by the human reality to their environment.
"Should we head back?" I broke in, shifting my attention in his direction.
He blinked at me for a second, as if he was first observing my facial features before he could process the words that came out of my mouth along with it. I partially wondered if he was still seeing the things that I was currently seeing, his face mildly shifting in the darkness. Shockingly, it didn't freak me out at all. Somehow it only seemed to highlight the beauty that was permanently etched into him.
He nodded his head. "Sure, let's go. Although, I'm not quite sure how to get back." A slight twinge of worry twirled in his already-twirling face, but I couldn't help but smile.
"It's okay. I'll get us back. C'mon." I quickly shot myself up, extending a hand down towards him.
It was slightly funny how quickly the air around us had shifted. I had almost forgotten that only moments ago we had the most intimate moment we had ever shared together. That was much more than just a simple hug. It made my stomach jolt lightly as I considered it.
It was just the drugs though, right?
Harry placed his hand into mine, shooting himself up just as quick. It sparked a newfound energy in me and I ran towards the car, giggling as I did so. I didn't look back as I heard him laugh to himself as well. I could imagine the dimples embedded into his cheeks as he grinned behind me, running to catch up.
"Hey! Wait up!" He giggled out breathlessly.
"You were given those long legs for a reason, Starboy!" I yelled over my shoulder.
I could see Ryan's truck coming up, reflecting against the moonlight that shone so brightly above. For some reason, it felt like a rush of warmth seeing it. It was like coming home after a long vacation, ready to sleep in your own bed or breathe your own air. I almost wanted to run up to it and hug it.
My arms pushed against the truck as I used it to stop myself from running into it. I turned behind me to see where Harry was, but he was much closer than I thought as he almost instantaneously met me at my other side.
"You like to run when you're on substances it seems." Harry huffed out in between heavy breaths.
"Running's fun." I smiled, breathing out just as quickly.
He snorted lightly, hanging his head between his shoulders as his arms leaned against the truck. I watched him as his body rose and fell from the influx of breaths from our little adventure. The idea that he looked so human, acted so human – but wasn't – was beyond my mind's current comprehension.
His head shot up, his brows furrowing into a frown. His sudden change in demeanor took me off guard and it made my heart feel heavy in my chest.
"Where's Nina and Ryan?"
I spun my head to the left and right of me, squinting my eyes to allow them to adjust to the distance in the dark. While the moon was shining, it didn't provide much guidance past a certain point. Plus the dancing grass due to tripping wasn't much help either.
"You think they fell asleep?" He asked again, walking off to the side as he squinted his eyes as well. "Should we call her?"
I patted my pockets, pulling the phone from my back pocket. I was a little shocked that I hadn't lost it. It was a common occurrence when I was either drunk or high, my phone always was at fault for my poor decision making during those times.
A buzzing from the truck bed sounded out as I heard the rings coming from my phone.
"Shit." I repeated as I slid the phone back in my pocket. "She left her phone here. Of course."
"What do we do?" Harry asked with a shakiness to his voice.
I didn't want to think of worst-case scenarios. I knew Nina and knew that she wouldn't do anything too stupid. She probably had just run out of view. Honestly, they were probably doing what Harry and I had started – except actually finishing it.
"I'm sure they're okay. We can wait in the truck bed for them if you want. She's done this before, she always comes back." I smiled at him in hopes to ease his nerves.
His face appeared to relax as he nodded his head, pulling himself up into the back of the truck. He leaned out one of his hands as I reached for it, pulling me up.
It was silent for a bit as we adjusted into the makeshift bed that was made. Luckily, sober me wasn't there to judge the comfort of it. I would have been lying if I said I wasn't slightly nervous because she didn't have her phone on her, but I also knew Nina. This was definitely like her, and while I didn't like it, she knew how to handle her own. She was probably having the time of her life just like we were.
"I'll stay awake and wait for her if you want to go to sleep." Harry offered behind me under the covers already.
I shook my head, giggling at him. "You sure? That sounds boring."
He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't mind. I just wanna make sure she's okay."
I smiled. I knew sleep wasn't in my near-future forecast, but it had to be approaching eventually. It was hard to resist seeing him all bundled up in the warmth of the covers I brought from home. It was a burnt orange with crochet stitching in the details. My eyes twisted around each knot, losing sight of reality again.
"Aurora?" Harry whispered out in a concerned manner, sitting up from his spot.
My eyes shifted back to him and I instinctively smiled back at him. "I'm good. Yeah, we'll do that."
His expression softened as he lowered himself back down, exposing an opening of the covers for me to join him in. It didn't take any hesitation to venture closer, shimmying my cold body into the warmth of his.
For someone who said he enjoyed the coldness of his home planet, he always seemed to be wrapped with a body temperature that was inviting in the best way. Whether it was in his hugs or when we were wrapped up together, lips clashing into one another's. Feeling his arms wrap tightly around myself only strengthened that feeling that I had initially felt upon running up to the truck.
Home.
Harry felt like home. He was my home.

Late night drives
Dano!Riddler x Gn! Reader
This is an au! (Kinda)
Eddie meets the reader in college. The reader is an out spoken artist who isn't afraid to be who they are (Of course Ed absolutely loves that) they were just friends at first but then they started dating. And taking night drives.
This story is when they are dating.
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~
Edward waited for you outside, his old car idling in the campus parking with the windows rolled down. Tonight was one of their date nights, those nights consisted of Edward and you either driving around Gotham or driving some of the more rural roads outside of Gotham while listening to music. You'd made a Playlist especially for these nights and called it 'Nights with Eddie' (something that made Eddie's heart almost explode)
Finally you came out on your dorm building, hurrying to get in the passenger side. "Sorry it took so long, a family member decided to call just as I was about to leave" you let out a nervous chuckle as you buckled yourself in. Ed shook his head "No, it's cool! What did they want?" You shrugged, pulling your phone from your pocket "Just wanted me to tell you that you're invited to stay with us for the summer if you aren't too busy." You gave him a soft smile as you scrolled through your Playlist. Ed fell silent for a few seconds, he'd never had a family before... that is until he met you. You introduced him to your family and they took him in as if he were their own, though he felt like he didn't deserve it.
"Earth to Eddie, you okay?"
Your voice snapped him out of his thoughts "huh? Oh, yeah, I'm okay... t-tell your family I-I'd love to stay for the summer." He fumbled to put the car in drive before pulling out of the parking lot and onto the mostly empty street. You decided on 'Sweet Child O' mine' for the first song of the drive "wanna do the rural roads tonight? I don't feel like getting robbed tonight." You joke as you set your phone down, letting the song play.
The drive was nice, the night air was cool and the roads were empty, it was just you and Eddie, and that's how you liked it. Eddie softly sang along to a few of the songs, looking over at you every few minutes to see if you were still awake. You'd fallen asleep a few times during these drives, the music and the swaying of the car lifting the weight off your shoulders, melting away all of your stress from college, allowing you to finally get some much needed sleep.
Edward didn't mind when you fell asleep on these nights, he knew you needed it so if you did fall asleep he would just keep driving until it came time to head back.
Tonight was going to be different though, you both had planned a stop in a clear area where you both could sit in the back seat of the car and look at the stars through the back window. Ed found the spot without any trouble and parked the car, turning it off, so now the only sounds you could hear were the noises from the trees rustling in the breeze, the music playing from your phone, and your own voices as you two spoke to each other in hushed tones.
You both got into the back seat of the car just as Edward's favorite song began to play
'I Was Made For Lovin' You'
He loved that song because you introduced him to it and it made him think of his feelings towards you.
He really couldnt get enough of you.
You scooted closer to him, laying your head on his shoulder as he began to sing softly, taking your hand in his as he glanced up at the stars. You couldn't see the stars while in Gotham, it was too damn bright to see anything in the sky at night, so you two decided to enjoy the stars away from the city for a while.
"Whatcha thinking about Eddie?" You asked as you placed your free hand on his chest. He looked down at your hand and smiled "thinking about you, and how stunning you'd look out here during the day, sun shining on your face..." He trailed off going back into his thoughts. You smiled softly, glad you can call him yours.
