Do you guys think desmond stopped trusting his Eagle vision after finding out lucy was a Templar. I mean, Lucy showed up as an ally with the vision. So do you think desmond started struggling to trust people even more because if Lucy was a Templar, and yet she showed up as blue, who's to say that Shaun and Rebecca aren't Templar.

I’ve been pondering the question of loyalty in Assassin’s Creed. Specifically, loyalty and how it works with Eagle Sight

See… We do know that different parts of the brotherhood can and do coexist – but that doesn’t make them outright allies. A prime example being Masyaf and Alamut. To a point, one can say it’s the same with Italian and Spanish branches during Ezio’s time

So will the ally-blue be the same for both branches?

Why my brain decided to bring this up: what if the team (Shaun, Lucy, Rebecca, and definitely William) did NOT show up as allies in Desmond’s vision? He had, after all, grown used to Altaїr’s Brotherhood in AC1. They would have been the “branch” his mind would have pegged as allies. Later, same would happen with Ezio’s brotherhood – and, to a point, possibly the Constantinople branch.

And Ratonhnhaké:ton? Yeah, taught him to question things, greatly

But they way they interacted and functioned is completely different from modern times. So there was always just enough nagging doubt in the back of Desmond’s mind to paint the team as neutral-white at first. And as the Bleeding Effect got worse, the white started to bleed into red – because they still wanted him to go into the Animus. Despite the damage it was causing to Desmond. Despite it having killed people in the past

And the more red he sees, the more Desmond doubts, and the more red he sees. It’s a closed circle. So, by the time he wakes up from Revelations, he knows he has to prepare. Because the team can’t possibly have his wellbeing as part of equation

It’s hard. It takes maneuvering. It gets Desmond to practice being extremely sneaky. And by the time the choice at Temple rolls around? He has contingencies

His choice to turn on the Aurora Borealis device wasn’t just altruism. IT also got everyone out of Temple so he can try to *survive*

And he does

And then, Desmond leaves. He doesn’t let anyone know – because this is a new level of anonymity that he feels he has earned. It gives him a certain freedom to not just re-orient himself, but to take a step back and dig into who he can go to and what he will be doing

…And when Origins rolls to an end, it’s not William Miles that finds Leila

Re-reading through Tsubasa alongside your past live blogs is great. Your comments in Infinity with Geo and the bees are killing me. Illegal death match fighting?? That's fine! BEES? What?! No! Too far! Your take makes it so much funnier when fussing at Eagle doesn't work, so he yells at My Man Lantis to stop it and just gets "...". Do you think Geo is ok after everything? Will his heart recover from tsubasa fam drama and the Infinibee incident?

And oh my goodness Infinibees. Honestly Geo just sends me. His entire stance on everything is so pure and caring even though he's essentially the right hand man of a mafia boss running illegal death matches to make money out of people beating the shit out of each other for entertainment. It's wild! He's wild! The entire situation is baffling. How did he get there? How is he not used to any of this? Or was he like this every step of the way and he just refuses to budge on the morality on IMMORAL BEE TECHNIQUES.

I genuinely do think that Geo recovered from the drama of it all though. Despite the, you know, deception that Eagle Vision and his Main Mantis pulled, I did get the sense that they cared for him and his feelings. They lied to him so effectively because they do want him around, even if he would have objected to their plan, and they know his reactions so thoroughly because they pay close attention to his thoughts on subjects like this. Geo would have forgiven them following the explanations of what everything was for, especially since it was all for an actually good cause, and that means they really did care about the result all along even if they pretended not to.

Eagle vision should let its user see the shrimp colors, and give its user an eyeshine, that is all.

Well, I do support the headcanon (which has been approved by the webtoon maaaaybbee?) that eyes glow whenever the Eagle Vision is activated so giving them eyeshine, yeah, I’m game!

As for the shrimp colors…

From what I read, shrimps have more photoreceptors. Humans have three but shrimps have 12.

However…

It seems the shrimp’s 12 (8 are for the spectrum we see while 4 are for ultraviolet) is considered less optimal than the human’s 3 because humans’ photoreceptors can distinguish hues while shrimps’ photoreceptors see colors by a specific ‘base’ and is unable to process hues. An example would be: ‘light green’. Human will see it as ‘light green’ but shrimps would see it as just ‘green’. It’s also quite possible they cannot see colors that are combinations of two colors like teal or orange, either not registering the color itself or seeing it as either ‘green’ (teal) or ‘red’ (orange).

So an eagle vision based on what the colors the shrimp can see (shrimp vision, hehe) would lose some hues which could have been a way for them to see slight differences in a person’s intention (example: light blue could have shown that they’re an ally but there will be trust issues)

On the other hand, there can be more colors to ‘tag’ objects or people like maybe…

Purple would be possible weapons or tools one can use

Green would be neutral people or grounds, won’t hinder or attack you but won’t help you as well (but isn’t that already gray?)

Honestly, if there are things or people we can tag that doesn’t fall into the 4 main categories (blue = allies, red = enemies, gold = important/target, white = hiding place/information), we can make an argument that losing the hues would be worth it.

And now, those who are the “closest” to them, genetically, are the ones who are working to ensure the humanity’s ability to exercise free will?

But no, seriously. Is this some kind of a group thing? Does like call to like here, after all? How do Assassins keep more or less consistently finding people who can activate Eagle vision, but the Templars can’t do it - unless they, literally, steal them from Assassins?
