This might sound completely stupid but I want to go back to approximately 2010 Era portable technology. I want my phone to have a normal sized screen that I don't need to strain my thumbs to use. I want it to be this fun little device with apps that are fun little distractions. Remember talking ben and angry birds and plants vs. zombies? Now all we have are these awful soulless time wasters. I want my phone to be able to do Google and YouTube and basic web surfing, not be the center piece of my entire life. I remember when having a smartphone was a convenience. Now, not being at home in front of a computer is no longer an excuse not to have work done. There is no "I can't right now." You always can. I want to carry around my DSi or 3DS with me for gaming. I want to carry around an extra iPod or MP3 player for all my music. I want separate specialized devices that do one thing really well. I want all my devices to have headphone jacks. I hate having my smartphone as the most important object in my life. Like, I already carry a separate game console and iPod Touch, but it's just not the same.
I've been wanting to switch to a dumb phone for forever now, but the idea of texting with a number pad sounds awful. I also need my phone for school stuff. I must sound like such an old man, but technology has become so mundane. I miss frutiger aero.

i think it's such a funny detail that basically all characters in mp100 use smartphones and it's just reigen (and in turn, mob) who believes in flip phone supremacy

Good lord at this rate you're better off just buying a cheap phone to use as an mp3 player and just not activate it than even bother with a touch screen mp3 player unless you're ready to drop like $1000 because everything else is immensely questionable

sometimes I wish I was born just 10 years earlier, but I know that if that was the case I could've never left the country I was born in and I could've never made the friends who mean the world to me now, so I deal. but man, if I could've been 20 in the early 00s instead of being a fifth grader... I would've loved that.

similar to the greentext stuff - i was visiting with my neighbors and their grandkids were around, and I said to this eight year old, "Hey, you wanna know something cool? I was playing the game when the Endermen came out." and his eyes went wide, like this kid looked like i told him i landed on the moon. His grandma thought it was really funny, and she said she has no idea what i'm talking about, but her grandbabies do, and that's incredible to her.
oh that's fun lmao, when minecraft & that update's existed for more than your whole life, and yknow being that young and like Next Year fr is this huge time scale away, a couple of years is a quarter of your life thus far and like maybe nigh half of the part of your life you actually have longterm memories for....i was checking out this dev's blog's archives about a:tdd's release in 2010 & in one entry they compared the implicitly Roughly concurrent release of Minecraft and i was like hey whoah. forever primarily being a game i've Heard Of more than any more direct exposure so i had no precise sense of [before minecraft release] [after minecraft release] Year 0 there but it's like for sure back in thee day when minecraft was a new thing, huh

i feel like just thirty years ago if you whipped out a camcorder and recorded random unaware strangers on the street to commentate on them you would be ostracized and considered a huge creep and yet,,

dan vs technology is no longer hyperbolic in the 2020s
You know, cause i only saw the show this year it didn't even occur to me that it was hyperbolic but, yeah 😭 I wonder how Dan feels about smartphones...

I love those chunky phones they have for construction workers/equally as rough areas of work, love a flip phone that are hefty enough that it looks like you could inflict blunt force trauma by lobbing it at a home invader
