Details surrounding Mary Ann :

Mary Ann is the heiress to the Liddell family, making her the third richest woman in the whole of DisCity's Eastside. The Liddell fortune was built through the family not only being incredibly talented artists over several generations but also having one of the largest collections of artwork and antiques from the old world. The Liddell family also creates high-quality paints from rare and unique resources, notably, their red paint, one of the hardest colors to get just right, is known for its beautiful luster and vivid color.

Mary Ann was adopted into the Liddell family by Count Charlotte Liddell. Finding her to bear a striking resemblance to his deceased sister, Rosalyne Underhill, née Liddell. She was adopted into the Liddell family at an unknown age, documented as being at least six years old.

[ knowledge is unknown to outsiders, Mary Ann was discovered by Charolette within Syndicate during a business meeting over mania crystals, and since the orphans of Syndicate were rarely documented ... Charlotte's focus merely became pulling the right strings to have Mary Ann documented as his own sickly daughter who had yet to make her debut in society. ]

Although adopted into a family of artists, Mary Ann showed little to no interest in any artistic paths. More often than not, the little miss would take to escaping her classes or not showing up, under the pretense of being needed elsewhere, or her etiquette classes running a little later than usual. However, under the care and attention of Alice, she began to take to painting as well.

Mary Ann and Alice were nearly inseparable, always chasing after each other. They spent nearly all of their day in each other's presence, and on more than one occasion, the maids would find them snuggled up together in Mary Ann's bedroom. [ It was rumored among the maid staff that Alice might be projecting onto the young miss, since she looked so much like his mother. ] This bond they held would shatter, however, shortly before Mary Ann's 15th birthday, when Alice would suddenly go missing.

Upon Mary Ann's 16th birthday, she would officially be named the heiress to the Liddell family.

[ Mary Ann's supposed birthday and age are all false, chosen by Charlotte. ]

At the assumed age of 21, the infamous Looking Glass Art Gallery Massacre would take place, following the assassination of Charlotte Liddell. Mary Ann's awakening as a Sinner would be somewhat under the rug swept, as those in high places backed by the Liddell family were quick to silence anyone who might cause the new head of the family any trouble. It is firmly believed that among those backed by the Liddell family are members of the FAC and 9th Division, among politicians and other important persons.

Driven by curiosity, Mary Ann would appear before the Chief of the MBCC, letting herself into their vehicle under the pretense of turning herself in. While in custody, both the Chief and members of the MBCC would find her file constantly doctored by unknown persons, hiding away any truth of her real nature and aspects of her past that she deemed unimportant. [ If the Chief were to inquire about these doctored notes, Mary Ann has only ever dismissed them with a smile. ]

The lone heiress to the Liddell family. The Liddell family is not only a family known for having incredibly talented artists, but also having one of the largest collections of artwork and antiques from the pre-Nightfall era. The Liddell family is also known for creating high-quality paints from rare and unique resources, notably, their red paint. It is believed that by some unknown means, the Liddell family has been using mania crystals in their creative process to drive up the sales of their art, although proof has never surfaced and those who have even claimed it to be so are quick to change their tune.

Mary Ann, herself, is the culprit of a large-scale Mania outbreak in the Eastside, dubbed the [ 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞 ]. The massacre claimed several dozen lives, and the subject has been at large ever since. Documented sightings of the subject have spanned all throughout Eastside, at other gala events or, according to paparazzi, going in and out of subject [ DATA MISSING ]'s residence.

Due to high risk of Mania transmission, subject must be detained by any means necessary.

CORRUPTION STATE Subject's Maniac corruption level has been noted as varying between low to moderate at best, with no abnormalities having been found on her body. The subject is noted as suffering audio-visual hallucinations, disassociation, headaches, and severe nightmares, however such symptoms were present prior to infection according to her medical records. RECORD Mary Ann is notably withdrawn from others, opting to remain in her room, which she has turned into a temporary studio space. During her free time, she has been noted as requesting select Sinners to pose for small portraits, which she often hands over when completed under the promise that these shall never leave the subjects or she would gladly take them to court.

RECORD Despite how withdrawn Mary Ann has been with staff and the majority of Sinners, she seems to have a soft spot for younger Sinners, offering to teach them how to paint, or to allow them to decompress in her room. She has been noted as offering to taste test for Kelvin when the Sinner musters the courage to attempt new recipes, and she has been documented as curbing her sharp tongue to give Kelvin constructive criticism and feedback.

RECORD To the surprise of some, Mary Ann appears to hold a special dislike for any Sinners who have ties to the art world. Although she has never elaborated on why she feels so, and she stays away from Lisa, McQueen, and Enfer, for instance. However, these feelings do not seem to spread toward Hecate. In fact, like the above, Mary Ann encourages Hecate's artistic visions, even presenting her with higher quality sketchbooks and other materials. On the rare occasion, Mary Ann has invited Hecate to collaborate on some art projects, though these are few and far between, as Mary Ann appears to enter a nearly manic state when painting. During some of Mary Ann's more destructive manic episodes, it has been noted that only Lisa is able to snap her out of whatever frenzy has gripped her.

RECORD The MBCC was recently able to uncover proof that [ Mr. Fox ] has previously worked very closely with the Liddell family, employed for several years by Charlotte Liddell. These years are believed to have been between Mary Ann's late-teenage years and well into her twenties. After the passing of Charlotte Liddell, Mary Ann was said to have fired [ Mr. Fox ] after the reading of the will and the subsequent hostile takeover of the family by the heiress. However, it is well documented that Mary Ann would occasionally hire him to represent her during high-profile cases where Mary Ann was accused of selling forgeries of her own works. These works have since disappeared from the public eye, and further attempts to pry into these cases have been met with threats of legal action taken against the MBCC.

In Old Fourth Ward, fanciful ‘designer renovation’ house discounted by $170K

The 1914 relic on Highland Avenue looks to join a half-dozen O4W houses recently sold for more than $1 million

Despite its stratospheric rise in popularity and outlier status in terms of property value gains around Atlanta, the Beltline bedfellow that is Old Fourth Ward hasn’t seen all that many standalone houses fetch north of $1 million.

Roughly a half-dozen, in fact.

Since the end of last summer, this thoroughly reimagined Highland Avenue relic from 1914 has been aiming to join them.

Accurately called a “designer renovation,” the dressed-up dwelling borders the small Highland Avenue parking lot where Jack’s Pizza once staged Jell-O wrestling on a grand scale. A branch of the PATH Trail is just beyond the backyard gate, linking to the nearby Eastside Trail.

It initially listed for $1,199,000 in August and has been adjusted twice since, now asking $1,029,000 via Coldwell Banker Atlanta, a difference of $170,000.

What’s not working? For a million-dollar home, even in a hot zone like O4W, the overall room count (three bedrooms, two full baths) and lack of covered parking could be sticking points. The 2,264 square feet is dwarfed by newer construction in the same pricing echelon in this and nearby neighborhoods.

Newer houses, however, can’t deliver the level of creaky-chic character found here.

Period detailing melds with modern new components throughout, like the exposed brick beside fresh white marble and Thermador appliances in the kitchen. Or the antique staircase that leads toward dramatic light fixtures and chandeliers.

A basement labeled as unfinished could boost the space or provide storage, which is nice. Beyond that, the master bathroom is described as “unrivaled” and the backyard an “oasis.”

It’s possible that neither description is an exaggeration, as O4W offerings go.
