The mother of Elza, Eboshi is a powerful sorceress with powers many Precursors consider to be unnatural. A vindictive woman with a known streak for sporting radical and controversial ideas. A cruel and sadistic woman, Eboshi is well known in the Sanctuary for using mind based magic that was once considered outlawed in the Sanctuary. She seems to have ties outside of the Sanctuary despite never being seen leaving it, and she intends to make good use of those connections now that her daughter is going out into the Vale to do what's required to protect the Precursors...
Another wonderful commission by @harchibudytgorichi! Eboshi's the second villain Visas is going to be facing off against in her next story, and boy howdy is she going to be a menace later on!

The Sword of Damocles || One-Shot
Summary: Takes place July 3rd. Eboshi begins her audit with a very important meeting with the mayor.
In approximately one minute, Hades was having a meeting with one Ms. Eboshi Kanamori, from the Home State Security Office. In other words, Hades was meeting with a cog in the British Government. How delightful.
Hades was not nervous. Hades did not let himself get nervous for such things.
He rolled his sleeves up once, then straightened a pen on his desk. He’d technically had the weekend to prepare for this meeting, but what was there to do? From what he could tell from the initial email, this meeting would not be about him. He had to prepare for his Board. He would be the first defense - a shield for the members, whether they deserved it or not. There was probably not much more he could do than that. Belle had urged him to look into this Kanamori woman anyhow, but he decided the best thing to do was approach this meeting like any other meeting.
A half an hour, and it would be over. She’d move on to her main targets. He’d get back to work.
The clock blinked to 10:00 AM. The door opened. Yes, just like clockwork.
Eboshi Kanamori strode in and Hades got up to greet her, stretching out a hand.
“I see you’re very prompt,” he mentioned with his most casual, friendly smile.
“Oh of course. I know how valuable your minutes are, Mayor Acheron,” Eboshi said. “Eboshi Kanamori. It’s good to meet you in person.”
“Sit, please. Would you like anything? We’ve water, coffee, tea–”
“I had a coffee before I came, thank you.”
“Ah– from Hatter’s perchance? Or maybe [Name redacted]-- or have you not found it yet?” Hades joked. “It’s a bit of a mysterious thing– one of Swynlake’s most charming quirks, in my opinion. Usually it takes a few weeks for any of the new arrivals to stumble on it. I’m not sure if you’ve heard–”
“I’ve heard,” Eboshi said. She sat down, her smile prim, yet cutting– cutting right through Hades’ own small talk.
He wasn’t sure how he felt about that. He didn’t like small talk either, but at the same time, it was one of the tools in his arsenal. He sat down too, adjusting his expectations– minutely. He smiled back at Eboshi, and for a moment, they were silent mirrors of each other.
“I did find [name redacted],” Eboshi mentioned after that moment. “I’ve got an excellent sense of direction. I tend to always find what I’m looking for.”
“Oh?” said Hades. “Well. If you did need help…” he lifted a hand, and twisted in his chair about 45 degrees. “My office is here to facilitate your business in any way we can. I want to make that clear. I fully respect the Home State Security’s purpose in coming to Swynlake. We want to make this a smooth process for you.”
“I appreciate that,” said Eboshi. “But do you know why I’m here?”
This gave Hades a single pause. “Well, according to your email–”
“My superior wrote that email. It was a bit vague, wasn’t it? I prefer to be specific,” Eboshi smiled wider and she brought up her briefcase onto her lap. She opened it just enough to retrieve a few pieces of paper, stapled at one corner. She extended the small packet to him. “This was the letter that came across the Minister’s desk. She was very impressed by the thorough reporting. I trust you know Yeong-jun Moon, of the Moon Market.”
The paper was smooth, clean, and white in Hades’s hand, not crease in it. He scanned the front quickly, taking note of the names Mr. Moon had collected for this latest, personal vendetta. He’d heard of this letter. Of course. Everyone bloody well knew when Mr. Moon had a complaint. But it had just been one of his many personal soap boxes. For a moment, Hades had to marvel, even though it was annoying. Someone had listened. Not just someone– a very big, important someone.
Then, he snorted, lip twitching.
“Is something funny, Mayor Acheron?” said Eboshi Kanamori.
Hades chuckled. “Well, a little. I’m not sure you would understand the joke though. Swynlake’s a small town. Everyone knows everyone. There's a certain context you’re missing, when it comes to Jun Moon.” He tossed the papers down on his desk and leaned back into his chair. “But I’m sure he’ll be eager to know that the British Government is taking him seriously.”
Eboshi’s smile did not move; it looked practically painted on. “I believe he has good reason to be taken seriously, Mayor Acheron.”
Hades licked his lips. “We might have different opinions about that.”
“I recommend reading his full letter, along with the appendices he provided,” said Eboshi. “There are more than just tweets and DMs in there. He took the time to print out the summary of your own court case– the one with the hellhound? You’re the first Mayor I’ve ever known who has openly admitted to harboring a demon in their home.”
“Well, there’s no laws against it, technically,” said Hades. And he smirked. Because this was a bit of fun now. The kind of chess game he enjoyed.
“Technically,” said Eboshi. “But technicalities are easily fixed with a few strokes of a pen, in some cases. Just as you have never technically been charged for burning down the Yubaba’s Bathhouse  outside the town, several years ago. Or charged for your hellhound burning down Rags and Bags. Or charged as a suspect in the disappearance of Persephone Acheron.”
At Persephone, Hades’s smile fell.
Eboshi’s did not. “I have a long list of charges never brought up against you. Perhaps due to lack of evidence. Perhaps due to fear. Maybe it is fear that has won you that seat you are sitting in. But fear is not the language I deal in, Mayor Acheron.”
“Is that so?” said Hades. “Because it does sound like you’re trying to scare me.”
Eboshi laughed, giving her short, black hair a gentle toss. “Well, I’ll take that as a compliment. Though, if you’re innocent, I’m certain you needn’t fear anything. In fact, if you’re innocent, you’ll have no problem suspending your mayoral position while these issues are properly investigated by myself and my team while I’m in town.”
Hades only blinked. “Suspension?”
“Think of it like a sabbatical,” Eboshi said, acting like this was ever so generous.
Hades wanted to burn her, a little bit.
“Until the end of my audit. And since you said you weren’t intending to impede my team in any way– what was it that you said? You wanted to make this a ‘smooth process?’”
If this was a chess game, Hades was feeling cornered – as if he’d taken one of her pawns only to lose his rook. His face remained placid though, as he folded his hands in front of him. “And if I refuse?”
“I’m not asking for your permission. I have a letter from the Minister. There’s enough,” said Eboshi. “But if you’d like to contest, I can direct you to the appropriate forms. My recommendation though,” and here she leaned in, her eyes catching the light from overhead, “is to cooperate, like you said you would at the top of the meeting. Then this process will go smoothly, quickly, and painlessly. That’s what you want, correct?”
Actually, Hades wanted to burn her.
Instead, his nostrils simply flared, knuckles in his lap going white as he clenched them. Now was not the time to throw a fit. Now was not the time to appear difficult at all. Sometimes in war, one had to make a strategic retreat.
But he did hate losing.
Hades swallowed. “Is there anything else we need to discuss?” he asked.
Eboshi took this for what it was: a pathetic white flag. She grinned even wider, clearly enjoying this. “Please clear out of your office by the end of the week. I’ll give you that long to discuss with the Board and release a statement.” She picked up her briefcase and smoothed down her pencil skirt as she stood. “Have a good day, Mr. Acheron.”
Only when the door had shut did Hades pick up the sheets of paper she’d brought him again. This damn letter– that damn Jun Moon. His eyes flashed, and it caught fire, disintegrating into a pile of smoking ash on his desk.

Witches' Potion Work!
Tumblr media
Hey y'all! ❤️
I had decided to draw these Studio Ghibli ladies after not including them in the sketchdumps here: https://www.deviantart.com/supershadowsilver/art/Studio-Ghibli-Halloween-Sketchdumps-932012821
So I decided to do another Studio Ghibli Halloween fanart (and watching three of them again, watching one tomorrow after school ^^;) with Yubaba, Eboshi and The Witch of the Waste dressed up as witches with a big cauldron, filled with potion (that is NOT poison or a potion that causes harm ^^;). (Yubaba is not amused, dressing as a witch on Halloween XD).
I hadn't thought of dressing Eboshi up as a witch, since I gave her a purple kimono. So a Japanese witch? Maybe so x3
Hopefully tomorrow it'll be better after the incident with my anxiety attack ^^;.
I did my best trying to draw these ladies, but I'll be doing more Halloween stuff amid getting ready for homecoming dance at my school ^^
What y'all think?

Formal outfits for upper ranks samurai & Most formal for lesser ranks samurai - Hitatare, Daimon and Suô court dress,
(as worn by samurai of the Edo period - great charts by Nadeshico Rin). You can find more about samurai ranks and their regulated attires under the tag "samurai kimono".
The Hitatare
Tumblr media
直垂 Hitatare first appeared as an attire worn by lower class warriors. As buke (warrior class) rose into status, it was slowy established as a formal garb for samurai during Kamakura period.
In Edo period, hitatare was the most formal attire worn by samurai of the 3rd rank and above. Fabrics used were luxurious, such as 精好織 seigo-ori (a type of textured silk, also used for Shinto priest clothing nowadays).
風折烏帽子 Kazaori-eboshi - black-lacquered hat made of silk, cloth or paper, originally worn by Heian nobility. Many eboshi shapes exist, this one is a upright style (tate-eboshi 立烏帽子) with top folded to the left.
袴 Hakama - formal pants, more exactly 長袴 nagabakama trailing pants
小さ刀 Chîsagatana - a small decorative katana
胸紐 Munahimo - chest ties, first appeared on Heian nobility clothes
菊綴 Kikutoji - decorative tassel-like knots, first appeared on Heian nobility clothes
袖括 Sodekukuri - decorative sleeve ties. Originally appeared on Heian clothings (like kariginu, nôshi, etc) where they were used to tighten sleeve cuffs. Later types like the tiny ones above are purely decorative.
The Daimon
Tumblr media
The 大紋 daimon is a specific hitatare set patterned with large 紋 mon (clan/family crests). It was worn by fifth court rank samurai (rank of the daimyô lords for example).
It was put over a 熨斗目 noshime, a type of kosode (=ancestor of the kimono) worn by samurai, with stripes or lattice pattern around waist area.
The Suô
Tumblr media
The 素襖 Suô, also a variation of the hitatare, was the ceremonial dress of the lower-ranked samurai. Via explicit permission of the shogunate, some samurai could be granted the right to wear 布衣 hoi (a type of kariginu).
It looked very similar to daimon set, but showed fewer crests of much smaller size. The hat was also different as they wore one called a 侍烏帽子 samurai eboshi.

Propaganda under the cut.
Lady Eboshi:
She relentlenssy fights the wolves (including San who is wolfgender) and destroys nature, to maintain the activity of her mine. But she does not do it for greed. She does it to protect sex workers and lepers. To protect marginalized people. She may be an "antagonist" (if they were an antagonist in the movie) but she's not a bad person, just a good person that destroys nature (like so many IRL humans).
Listen. She was good to her village people, especially the women. Took care of leprosy patients when no one else would. Very empowering girlboss. I hate her very much. She wanted to destroy the mountain and the forests for resources and caused great harm to the nature spirits, animals, and animal gods that lived there. Fuck her. Morally gray but I'd fight her to the death. With regret
Princess Azula:
homegirl was only 14 and scarier than her dad but let's be fr, her mum saw her as a monster back when she was a kid bc no one taught her how to be gentle. she was ozai's golden child born and raised to be his puppet. sure she's not a good person nor did she do good things but c'mon she was never given the chance or space to be good. the amount of unexplored potential in her is astronomical. also her lines are just iconic
She tries to kill people with lightning, and is controlling/manipulative of her friends and Zuko. However, she is very cool, so I think this should be allowed.
honestly what do you even say about azula that *hasn't* been said. she's a psychologically fascinating villain, evil yet so complicated and interesting to watch, she's so intriguing and well written. her immoralness mixed with seeing her Feel made her so so interesting to watch. she's an excellent cautionary tale and just a wonderful antagonist. definitely one of the most memorable parts of the show for me
She has never ONCE genuinely apologized for anything in her entire life. Everything she did was on purpose and with the direct intention of furthering her own goals and fucking everybody else over. Firelord of my heart.
