501st - Part II
Part 26 of Starstruck
Summary
You assume a job as a volunteer for the Republic on Coruscant and meet the boys from 501st for the first time.
Rating: General Audience
Word Count: 4715
Warnings: none

“Where’s Echo?” you ask but the words that leave your mouth are so slurred that they are impossible to understand.
“Hey, welcome back!” Kix smiles brightly at you. “You’ve had quite a start on Coruscant!”
You frown and try to think clearly but your mind is still in a haze.
“What the…” you mumble.
“You were transferred here from Kamino. Do you remember that?” Kix asks you.
“Kamino was destroyed...” you answer. Your speech is still a mess but the words are obviously intelligible enough for Kix to understand you. He runs his hand over your head and gives you his warmest smile.
“No, Kamino wasn’t destroyed. Someone tried to unload a box with what turned out to be unstable explosives while you disembarked the transport here on Coruscant and you bumped your head when the explosion swept you off your feet. Kamino is still standing and so is Coruscant. Don’t worry, OK?”
You furrow your brows and shake your head. Something’s wrong. And which transport is he talking about? And which explosion? And how can he not know that everything on Kamino was destroyed?
“No you don’t understand, Kamino was…”
Kix gently touches your shoulder and gives you another reassuring smile.
“I’m gonna give you a mild sedative. You took quite a blast and it’s important for your recovery that you rest your brain and try to find some sleep. We got plenty of time to sort things out later, OK?”
Before you can ask him about Echo again you hear the quiet hissing of the injector, feel the urge to close your eyes and quickly pass out.
Tumblr media
The next time you wake up your vision comes back to you much faster than before. You look around in the room. A heavy curtain separates your bed from the rest of the med bay. You prop yourself up and wonder if you should call someone when AZI hovers in.
“Good day, my name is AZI-345211896246498721347 but you can call me AZI-3 or just AZI” the droid greets you and runs a medical scanner over your face without a warning.
“Your parameters look significantly better than three hours ago. If you wish you can start with light reading while you rest your body. I can get you a datapad.”
“Yeah…that would be great” you mumble, still overwhelmed.
AZI makes his way beyond the curtain to get the datapad, but you stop him just before he’s out.
“AZI…where’s Echo?”
AZI turns around and seems to check something in his database.
“CT-1409? I do not have any information about his whereabouts. The troopers’ schedules are classified and only accessible on a need to know basis.”
You frown and decide to wait it out. Maybe your brain isn’t ready to put the pieces together yet…
After a while AZI comes back with a datapad as promised and the first thing you do is start a search for Echo. You are aware that the chances that you get anything useful out of it are remote but you need to at least try.
First thing you notice is that your access codes from the underground network don’t work, so you’re left with public information only. The most recent public information you find is Echo’s and Fives’ promotion to ARC troopers. The article includes a picture showing one proud Fives and Echo who looks like he’s about to faint. You giggle lightly. That’s why he never showed you that picture even though he was so proud of being an ARC trooper. Maybe he did pass out a few seconds later.
But it’s curious that his promotion is the last information you can find.
And something else is strange. There should be a lot more public articles about him. Echo going missing after the mission at the Citadel. Echo’s rescue from Skako Minor. Echo becoming the hero of Anaxes. Echo joining Clone Force 99. There is, in fact, a lot that’s missing.
You search specifically for these events but don’t find anything. When you run out of search terms you take a mental step back. What did Kix say? You were on a transport and some unstable explosives were unloaded when you disembarked…
You search for this event and find an article. The clone who unloaded the box died from the explosion, three more clones were injured and one civilian. Well that’s probably you, even though you don’t remember ever having been on a transport. But maybe the concussion caused amnesia…maybe you finished the supply run with Echo and lived on for some time but don’t remember it anymore. Maybe even the facilities on Kamino were reinstated and you just learned about it shortly before the accident.
You check the date of the article to find out how much time is missing in your brain - and freeze. The date is in the past. Far in the past, actually, a long time before you even met Echo. Your mind starts racing, so does your heart…
Maybe you just got the wrong article and it’s from another similar incident…
You check the system time on the datapad. It’s the same date that you saw on that article. Your breath speeds up. You’re in the past!
Well you know Kix from pictures but you never met him and you have no idea what happened to him after Order 66, whether he’s still alive, maybe joined the empire’s troops or whether he died.
Your heart is pounding faster and faster. This can’t be happening! You heard about temporal anomalies and the general unpredictability of time travel. You might stay here for another few minutes and then return, but you could also live your life and never go back. There is an element of chance in it and you won’t be able to do much about it.
What about Echo? Was he transferred here with you? A cyborged clone should be worth mentioning in the news, he’d stick out…Unless this information is classified which would make sense, but then it would’ve been hard to hide because of the many people that were on the transport with you…so he probably isn’t here.
Your mind keeps on racing while you try to understand your situation, try to process what it means for you that you are here now. How will you make a living? What brought you on that transport? How will you go on? Your mind keeps on spinning and spinning, your heart keeps on racing, your breath speeding until you hear an alarm. Your condition probably triggered it and it doesn’t take long until Kix sticks his head in.
"Are you right?“ His face doesn’t show worry, just care.
You try to get a clear thought and realize that you can’t possibly tell him the truth. He will think that you bumped your head even harder than you already did…You have to work with what you've got.
"It’s nothing…I just realized that my amnesia is probably a lot worse than I thought. I have no idea why I was on the transport, why I was transferred here, where I will go, where I will live, what my job will be and what the hell is going on…“
You sigh and your desperation is real.
Kix takes a stool, sits down next to you and folds his hands. His reassuring smile already helps calm you down.
"I took a look at your brain scans. It seems that a lot of areas in your brain are unusually active right now, so there’s a lot of things going on in your head. We can’t quite explain it right now, but the concussion gives us a good explanation for your amnesia and I’m confident that if you give it some time your memory will come back. Until then…I checked the files to find out more about you. There was a civilian on the manifest who was up for voluntary service for the Republic and who didn't show up for work today. The description fits you, so I guess you are that volunteer. Congratulations!“
A shockwave of adrenaline floods your body - you really hope you didn't sign up to be a soldier at the frontline or something like that - that’s not really what you are made for. You are too easily scared and too jumpy and you would probably get yourself killed in no time. Those missions with the underground network were something completely different than actual war and they were the absolute maximum you were able to do.
"What kind of volunteer?“ you ask Kix with a trembling voice.
"You were assigned to the armory. You will hand out armor and then you will take it back and check it and clean it up. It’s a nice job actually, you got a lot of people coming and going and you will get to meet pretty much every clone in this facility - and you will help us win the war.“
You feel incredibly relieved that you didn’t sign up for active duty as a soldier, slowly start to calm down and see the positive side of it. Traveling back in time wasn’t what you had planned but lamenting about it won’t change your situation anyway, you just gotta wait until you‘ll be sent back by some greater force in the universe so you can just as well look around and get to know a bit more about this place and the people in it. After all it was Echo‘s home for some time.
Being in the middle of everything means you are likely to meet Fives and if you’re lucky maybe some of the other clones that you know from pictures and stories. You might even…
Your heart stops for a moment when you realize what it means.
You might even…meet Echo.
While the idea sinks into your mind your face gets ahead of you.
"I see you made the right choice!“ Kix‘s voice gets you out of your thoughts.
"Mh?“
"You seem to have made the right choice. You’re beaming with joy!“
You chuckle nervously and blush.
"So thanks for joining us! And I’m sure you’re gonna love this place! There are so many nice people here and once you have stayed here a little longer you will learn to separate the clones from one another - even those without tats and with standard haircuts - and you will realize that we don’t look that much alike after all.“
You smile nervously and nod. This will be your new life…for now. And for who knows how long.
"When can I assume my post?“ you ask tentatively.
Kix purses his lips.
"Well you seem to be thinking clearly again so I‘d say I‘ll keep you under observation for the night and if you feel like it you can get up and walk around for a bit to see if you‘ve recovered enough to be released. I‘ll do a checkup in the morning and if you feel up to it you can start tomorrow at noon. How‘s that sound?“
You nod and smile. You feared that you’d have to waste a lot more time in med bay.
Tumblr media
Luck is on your side – you recover quickly enough to be released the next day without having to start any discussions with Kix or AZI. Kix gives you an electronic welcome package that contains some basic information about this place, your occupation and the location of your quarters. A clone guides you the armory – a young adult, standard face, standard haircut, no distinct markers, neither in the face nor on his clothes. His name is CT-1072. On your way to your new life countless clones cross your way and your mind desperately tries to find something, anything to differentiate between them, to separate one from another, but when you finally arrive at your new workplace you have the bad feeling that like them CT-1072 would vanish in the cursed cloud of uniformity and if you met him tomorrow in the hallway, he might greet you but you wouldn't know it's him. Hell, he could march into the armory later on and you wouldn't recognize him. You were never good with names and faces, embarrassed yourself more than just once by introducing yourself in a meeting to someone you had already met several times, but this has a different quality...
You feel overwhelmed, almost helpless. These are all individual men, individual souls with their unique stories and personalities – how could you do them justice? It was nice of Kix to assume that come time you would be able to separate one from another...but right now it feels like an impossible task and his words feel rather like a means to keep you from panicking, so you can ease into the ugly truth that without any distinct markers they will all look the same to you – forever.
The instructions for your job at the armory are fairly straight forward – you have to stand behind the counter, wait for clones to come in and you would either hand out pieces of armor or other equipment or they would give you their armor for cleaning and NDT testing, just like Kix had said. The job could easily be done by a droid but the droid who gives you the instructions tells you that it turned out that contact with an actual human being was good for morale so they used volunteers whenever possible. There is a lot of idle time but when clones come in they come in larger groups and are all pumped with adrenaline from their training, sweaty, smelly, dirty, loud and demanding. It is stressful but you absolutely love it, can't stop smiling at them and it is obvious how much they enjoy having you behind that counter – it seems that they had to deal with the droid who briefed you for months now due to a lack of volunteers. A lot of clones are young, too young - shinies, as Echo called them - wearing white armor, no markers, no dings and dents. A few of them have tattoos or scars or other distinct markers but most of them just look...alike. The war made it necessary to deploy them regardless of their training status.
Clones come and clones go and you can't help but be a little nervous whenever you hear them outside, loud and rough. The idea that you might meet someone you know from Rex's, Nemec's, Fireball's or Echo's pictures – or even meet them, especially Echo – is incredibly exciting.
Echo...he is all you think of in your idle time.
The Echo from your timeline, the man you love, the man you miss...what is he doing right now?
And the Echo from this time. The shy smile on his face in the picture your Echo showed you never left your mind. You crave to meet him in this time. You'd love to see him the way he was before, get to know another facet of the complex man who owns your heart. Maybe it would even give you some solace to know that a part of him is here.
At the end of the day you hear a turmoil outside. The others were already loud, yes, but this group of clones is even louder than the other ones and there is a feeling in your gut that it is THEM. Clones from the 501st legion. They seem to be a lot less in numbers than the clones in the other groups but they are louder anyway...
You feel butterflies in your stomach. Echo...
You try not to look too nervous when the door opens and they burst in, loudly laughing and talking. It’s just three and you know all of them. Fives, Jesse, Hardcase. Echo isn't with them and you are a little disappointed, but you are quickly distracted by his brother.
Fives is exactly the way you imagined him. Fresh, attractive, confident. He knows about his reputation among women and he knows about the effect his self-esteem has on them. Your eyes meet and he raises his eyebrows in surprise when he sees you instead of that boring droid.
“Hello gorgeous!” he shouts. “I must have died during that exercise, I'm seeing an angel! Poor me but absolutely worth it!”
Jesse rolls his eyes and pushes in.
“In case you've been wondering: yes, he's always like this. So where are you coming from?”
Hardcase is the last to join them at the counter.
“Haven't you heard? It's the one who was immediately blown away by this place...so to say...”
Jesse looks over to Hardcase and raises an eyebrow.
“That seems to be well within your field of expertise...”
“...while angels walking among us is mine...” Five drops in. His eyes never left you and he gives you a confident smile.“...but where are my manners. Name's Fives.”
You nod and grin. “I figured that. You have it written all over your face.”
Fives smirks back and points at his tattoo.
“Only the temple.”
You keep on smiling and smack your lips. The chance to tease Fives – that Fives, the man who was closer to Echo than everyone else – makes you even forget that you had hoped for Echo. If Fives is here, Echo will eventually come, too. If not today, then tomorrow.
“So tell me, Fives...” you tilt your head. “Is it true what they say?”
Fives leans in closer to you. “Depends on what they say...”
“They say that you wanted to have that number tattooed somewhere else.” Your eyes wander down.
Fives grins. “Who says I didn't get that too?”
“Well did you?” you ask him with a smirk.
“Only one way to find out” he responds. In the corner of your eye you see Jesse and Hardcase roll their eyes yet another time.
You purse your lips. “What's their name?”
Fives frowns and gives you a confused look.
“What do you mean?”
“The name of the tattoo artist. So I can ask them.”
Fives scoffs while Jesse and Hardcase giggle.
“Oh you won't get anything out of them...data privacy, you know...as I said, there's only one way to find out.” His eyes wander down your body.
“Why don't you join us in...”
“You're making me look bad! You're making my performance look worse than it is because of your weird interpretation of the regs and stats!” A loud discussion from outside interrupts your conversation. Jesse, Hardcase and Fives look at each other and you see Jesse roll his eyes for the third time.
Dogma is the first one who enters, agitated, his eyes crunched into tight slits, his head purple red, a pronounced vein on his forehead. He is close to the other clone who is holding a datapad, obviously with the stats under discussion. Dogma is almost physically assaulting him with his proximity and you notice that he doesn't wear the 501st colors and still has plain white armor. Right...Dogma wasn't a part of the 501st by that time...at least not yet.
When the two get closer you get a glimpse at the other clone – and your heart misses a beat. You don't see the armor with the distinct painting of Rex's handprint yet but you don't have to. You know it is Echo. You know it because you see the unique gentleness, sweetness and kindness in his face – even now that Dogma is screaming at him.
You hold your breath and all your attention zeroes in to the man you love...or his previous version. It is hard to believe that this is the same person as the man who's waiting for you in your timeline. His face doesn't show the hardship he had to face yet, he looks...sweet and innocent. Even though he is a part of the 501st legion and has become an ARC trooper already he has the sweetness of a little boy. Sweet little puppy dog Echo. Nothing like the seasoned war hero waiting for you. Even though it is not that much time that lies between these two Echos it is the experience others don't even make in decades that separates them.
Seeing Dogma scream at him like that feels almost like an insult to that sweet boy, but it's not your place to step in and you marvel at his face that still looks so calm, so unimpressed by Dogma's complaints. He doesn't care about other people's opinions, he's told you many times.
“The barricade tipped over, but it wasn't destroyed. It still presented an obstacle that would have slowed other troopers down” Echo explains calmly. “It might even have endangered the vertical stability of walkers that would have to pass through that rift. So I cannot give you the full score for the barricade.”
If you had been agitated like Dogma, Echo's calmness would have driven you crazy and it is obvious that Dogma feels the same way.
“Walkers? WALKERS? There weren't even walkers in the scenario!!!” Dogma screams and draws himself up in Echo's way.
“I don't want to lose my chance to become a part of the 501st just because you...”
“Your chance it not at risk, Dogma” Echo interrupts him. His quiet controlled voice is in stark contrast with that of his opponent.
“Your score is excellent already. Just keep in mind that it takes more than just a score to become a part of the 501st. A certain kind of appropriate demeanor towards your superiors, for example, is another...”
You see Dogma's eyes widen and fear that this is the moment when he loses it completely. You halfway expect him to leap forward and break Echo's nose, but Fives steps in.
”Sooo…where was I…“ Fives asks loudly and turns to you again in an obvious attempt to end the discussion between Echo and Dogma.
"The tattoo, right. See if I had only gotten it down there it would be pretty hard to identify me if I fell in battle. I don’t think anyone would go through the trouble to check for a distinct marker there…I‘d just be piled up with the rest of the bodies.“
"Well he'd still have his unique armor, but...” Jesse leans his elbow against the counter "if he didn’t have a face tat it would be pretty hard for the ladies to recognize him in the 79‘s. Any shiny could grow himself a goatee and pretend it’s him and they would only notice they got the wrong guy when it’s almost too late…“
"Yeah…that too“ Fives smirks. "I have a reputation to uphold.“
"I suppose that’s the prime reason why he got it in his face. And the rest of us too“ Hardcase adds and makes a gesture to present his face.
"…all but Echo“ you hear Dogma from behind. "I guess he’ll be piled up with the rest of the bodies one day. And not being distinguishable for the ladies is no loss either since he never goes to 79‘s anyway…“
Fives squints his eyes and groans quietly.
Jesse turns around, approaches Echo and pinches his cheek.
"Echo just doesn’t want to ruin his cute little shiny face…“ he says in a tone one would normally use for babies.
"I‘m still surprised you painted your armor with that hand even though it’s non-standard. Rex must have left quite an impression on you…“ Hardcase adds and moves towards Echo.
"Maybe that would be a good choice for a face tat…“ He puts his hand all over Echo‘s face until Echo retreats, still staying calm and not showing any kind of anger.
"You know it’s starting to be a little embarrassing to run around with someone who has the face of a shiny…“ Hardcase adds.
Dogma smirks contentedly. He may not have gotten Echo to change the stats but at least he could get back at him.
Fives’ eyes meet with Echo’s. He opens his mouth to intervene but Echo softly shakes his head. The gesture is very subtle, almost unrecognizable, but Fives gets it and you can’t help but adore these two brothers. It took less than a second but this silent communication showed you so much…Fives looking out for Echo, Echo stopping him because he doesn’t want his brother to be caught in the middle…You can see how much they care for each other. Now you understand the pain you see in Echo‘s - your Echo‘s - eyes when he mentions Fives even better.
"What do you say?“ Dogma‘s challenging voice gets you out of your thoughts.
"Mh?“
"Doesn’t he rather look like a shiny than like someone from the 501st, let alone an ARC trooper? Wouldn’t he at least uphold the illusion that he has an edge if he finally got the stick out of his ass and showed a little bit of individuality by getting a face tat?“
Everyone’s eyes are on you now. Echo is still remarkably calm. You hear Fives‘ quite groaning in your ear again. Dogma isn’t even a part of the 501st, he’s only here for his screening but he’s already behaving like he owns this place. And he’s bugging Echo. And Echo might have stopped Fives from stepping in but he won’t try to stop you because he doesn’t know you yet…oh but he soon will.
"I actually like him as he is“ you answer. "It‘s a lot better than looking like a car ran over him and left the tire marks on his face.“ You raise an eyebrow and smirk while you pierce Dogma with your eyes.
"You fucking…“ Dogma leaps at you but Jesse and Hardcase manage to splutter and hold him back at the same time. Fives bursts out into the loudest laughter of them all and you can even see the corner of Echo‘s mouth twitch for a fraction of a second before he quickly goes back to a neutral expression and looks down at the datapad.
And this moment changes everything.
It is hard to describe how much that little crack in Echo's face, that little show of satisfaction over you getting back at Dogma does to you but it is so...it is almost like the little nonverbal communication between him and Fives, it's something only the two of you know and only the two of you will ever know about, a shared moment that defines the beginning of your acquaintance, at least here, in this timeline.
“Gods, you're priceless!” Fives laughs. “You HAVE to join is in 79's tonight!”
You think about it. On the one hand you are tempted to see that famous place where clones used to hang out and have their legendary shenanigans. You'd love to get to know Fives and the others a little better, it's an interesting prospect. But on the other hand you already know what that would mean: you would have a bunch of drunken clones trying to get you in the sack up your ass all night and no friends to pull you out. It's tempting, but you should wait until you have someone to save you by your side.
“Thanks Fives, but I'm gonna have to take a pass on that. Maybe another time when I have settled at this place.”
“Fair enough” Fives says. “I'll keep on asking.”
Fives looks over to Hardcase and Jesse. “But you're with me, right?”
“Hell yeah” Hardcase shouts. He let go of Dogma in the meantime and pats his shoulder. “We need to celebrate Dogma's score.”
“And his survival of the car accident” Jesse adds and runs his finger over Dogma's tattoo which gets him a dangerous snarl.
“What about you?” Jesse turns over and looks at Echo who shortly looks up and shakes his head. “Why am I even asking?” Jesse mumbles.
“What are your exciting plans for the night, trooper?” Hardcase asks?
“Inventory” Echo answers shortly. “Apparently I am the only one who cares about things staying in order.”
“Uuuuuuh...exciting!” Hardcase mocks him.
“Well when Kamino was under attack it proved to be pretty helpful that we could actually find the equipment we needed” Echo responds dryly, subtly reminding Hardcase how and why he became an ARC trooper. And it seems to work. There is a moment of silence and you take advantage of it.
“So...do you have any armor to clean or check or are you just here because you needed an audience for your little show?”

Part 27: 501st - Part III
Writer‘s Notes: I actually like Dogma a lot even though it doesn’t show in this fic. I know some people wonder if he and Echo would have been friends because they both like regs and my feeling is no. Dogma seems to be a lot more aggressive and I don’t think the Umbara arc would have worked with sweet puppy dog eyes Echo.

While Tech and Omega inspect Azi's mechanics he triggers a recording from deep within the droid's memory. Echo recognizes someone from the memory and Tech reveals more about the Bad Batch that Echo had ever considered.
If you are curious to read about the infamous "Tadpole Incident" you can find the full story in my short fic called "A Short Tech and Echo Adventure:Tadpole" (https://archiveofourown.org/works/37622476)

“How to heal a broken bone.”
Tumblr media
SPOILERS FOR THE BAD BATCH S2
Rating: Explicit +18
Pairing: Tech x (F)Reader
Synopsis: Tech is very frustraded after breaking his femur, to say the least. He can’t go on missions. He can't fix his ship. He can't even walk straight with crutches. Luckily you are there to help him.
Warnings: Established relationship, poly relationship with the rest of the Batch, a little bit of angst, smut, fingering (female receiving) and oral sex(male receiving).
You hear Tech sigh for the 10th time. Or maybe it was the 15th time. You were already losing count.
Your eyes move from your current task to Tech sitting in the pilot's chair. He seemed bored while staring at his datapad, which was something unusual. "Bored" was one of the last words you would use to describe him. He always seemed to be involved in some research or working on something with his hands. But now he was navigating through files in a distracted way in search of some interesting information.
The culprit of this situation was the cast that went from his foot to half of his left thigh. Luckily, the fracture in the femur wasn’t serious, it would take 3 months for him to recover, but with the help of AZI and a lot of bacta Tech would be back much sooner. Unfortunately, this also meant that he couldn’t go on missions for quite a while.
The others had left early to explore for supplies, but you had chosen to stay and make some improvements to the ship. But it was an obvious excuse to stay with Tech and take care of him. You hated the idea of leaving him alone, especially in these conditions.
Tech lets another frustrated sigh escape and you can't help but copy him.
"Do you need anything, darling?" You ask from your place on the floor where you been fixing some wires on the wall.
"I don't think you can fix my leg. So no, thank you." He answers without even looking away from the datapad.
"Watch your tone, Mister. I know you're upset, but it's no reason to talk to me like that." You use a warning tone and Tech quickly turns to you with a guilty expression.
"My apologies, dear." He says in a softer voice this time. That’s more like it."I didn't mean to sound so rude. It's just that I'm so..."
"Bored?" You suggest.
"Frustrated. But ‘bored’ also works."
You shake your head slightly, getting up to go to him. Tech's mind it’s never quiet, it wasn't a surprise that he was so antsy. His good leg kept bouncing up and down nonstop while he was reading. You were afraid that at any moment he was going to snap and rip out his own cast.
You put one hand on your waist, using your other forearm to prop yourself against his chair to get a good look at what he was reading. From this angle you can finally see that It was a medical article about the speed of regeneration of a broken femur. You couldn't blame him for his impatience.
Luckily, the Batch managed to find a pair of crutches for Tech, but he could barely get around with it. So most of the time Wrecker helped him move around the ship. Tech also needed help when it came to showering and getting dressed, and as happy as you were to help him, having your independence taken away is something horrible.
"I should be out there helping or at least doing something useful. But I'm here, being a dead weight for the team." He complains, letting his body sink against the chair.
You frown, tugging slightly at his ear. Tech does a little “ouch” sound and rubs the bruised skin with his hand. "You know that's not true. Everyone's glad you're okay. I'm glad you're okay. We just want you to rest now."
The proof of your words was right there. His leg was on a small stool, resting on a pillow that was given by Omega as a way to make him more comfortable. The whole Batch wanted to sign his cast - Even Cid wanted to be a part of it. Omega's name had little stars doodles. Wrecker's was the one that occupied the largest space with an imitation of an explosion around it. Hunter's was accompanied by a small drawing of a skull while Echo's was only his name written in blue. And of course, yours was accompanied by hearts.
He sighs, nodding with his head. "You're right. It's just that this reminds me of Kamino. Clones that didn't heal fast enough were sent to maintenance work or just... decommissioned.”
You can feel the weight in his words. You can't even imagine what it's like to be discarded so easily. Clones were considered replaceable, so it was likely that several of them were thrown away just because the Kaminoans didn’t have the patience or empathy at all.
"Well, this isn't Kamino. You have all the time you need to recover, we'll still be here when you’re done." You pass your fingers through Tech's hair, feeling him relax with your touch.
"Thank you." He gives you a small smile, closing his eyes for a moment and breathing deeply as your hands continue to caress him.
"At least I'm here to keep you company." You say. "I can take a break for now. We can play Sabacc, what do you think?"
He seems to consider your proposal, but he gives up quickly. “I've played 5 times with Wrecker. And 4 of Denjarik with Omega. I still don't know how she always manages to win." The last part was definitely a blow to his ego. "Besides, I want to do something with my hands. Something constructive."
"Well, I can’t carry you around like Wrecker. But maybe I can bring you something to work on?"
"No, stay here. Please." Tech tilts his head back, staring at you with his big brown eyes behind his lenses. His hand pulls the hem off your blouse gently, making a silent request.
You could never say no to him.
You lean towards him until your lips met. The angle is a bit awkward, but the kiss is deep and sweet. He lets a deep sound slip from the back of his throat, something needy for more. You need to hear it again.
One of your hands holds the back of the seat to keep you balanced, while the other goes to his face, stroking his cheek with your thumb. This time it’s you who let out a low moan as his tongue invades your mouth, exploring it eagerly.
A shiver runs through your body as Tech partially lifts your blouse, the cold air of the ship hitting the skin of your belly. But soon his warm hands are on you, grabbing everything they can reach. His calloused fingers sending shockwaves through your nerves.
You feel them creeping up your ribs, coming too close to your chest and you know where this is going. You hold his wrists, moving his hands away from you. You already miss them. "Hold on, baby." You sigh. "You're still hurt."
"But it's been so long since we've done anything." He pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose, raising his forefinger in the same way when he’s about to explain something. "Exactly 3 weeks, 4 days and 16 hours."
You roll your eyes without being able to contain a smile. But it was true, it's been a long time. Between missions and taking care of Omega there was not much time left and no privacy to do something more intimate.
You stare at the cockpit door, mulling over what to do next. You probably had a few more hours alone, and the Batch used to let you know when they were on their way back.
"All right, but we need to be quick. What do you want to do, pretty boy?"
His face lights up, as it always does when he gets something he wants. "On the control panel, I want to touch you."
You chuckle, starting to take off your clothes with the confidence of someone who has undressed more than once in the cockpit. "So when you said you wanted to do something with your hands you were talking about me?”
You lean against the control panel, just in your underwear, feeling the icy metal bite your backside. You put one leg on his lap so he had better view, being mindful of his cast. He can’t turn fully in your direction because his extended leg, but it is good enough. "I'd rather do you than anything in the galaxy."
You hate how flushed you get just from that. You're still not used to this kind of sweet talk and how it makes your insides turn. "Really smooth." You mock him, pushing him slightly on the shoulder."Come on, I'm freezing here."
Tech fix his goggles once more, giving you a mischievous smile before starting. His palm moves slowly along your calf to your thigh , blooming chills along it’s path. He stops when his fingers bump against your panties, toying with the hem.
"I missed that." Tech whispers, leaning over to kiss the inside of your leg. "I missed you."
"You see me every day." You try to joke, but your voice gets breathless when his fingers start approaching your core.
"You know what I meant."
"I don't know if I quite follow. Can you show me?" You bite your lip, giving him a playfully look.
You can see the desire burning in his eyes. The way his pupils are dilated behind his lenses. How heavy his breathing gets. Tech doesn't bother to pull your panties to the side, his thumb stimulating your clit over the fabric while his other fingers cupped your vulva.
You moan softly, your hips moving in sync with his hand, searching more for that feeling. But it's just enough to keep you on edge. It's not what you need to scratch that itch.
"Tech, come on." You pull the last part with a whimper, to close to begging already."Give me more." It’s really been a while, you didn’t notice how needy you were until now.
"I enjoy taking my time, dear. You know this better than anyone." He says while applying a little more pressure to your throbbing clit.
You let out a breathless laugh that quickly becomes a moan. "I think what you enjoy is to torture me."
Tech doesn’t deny it, only giving you a small smirk. But he finally gives in to your pleas, his fingers entering your panties and stroking your folds.
"You're soaking wet." He says the obvious with a smug look.
The answer on the tip of your tongue disappears when he penetrates you with one finger. You let out a silent scream, holding his arm to ground yourself. Tech begins to move it slowly, letting you get used to the stretch. But it’s not enough and soon you’re begging again.
The second digit comes shortly after, throwing you in the borderline between pleasure and pain. Tech watches you closely in the same way he does his experiments. You can't help how even your ears get warm under his insistent gaze.
You feel your leg start shaking, trying it’s best to keep you standing while holding your weight on it’s own. Your free hand grab the edge of the control panel, stopping you from falling.
Tech rotates his hand, causing his thumb to brush against your clit every time this fingers thrusted deeper, hitting your spongy spot. The wet sound of skin against skin fills the cockpit, being only overcome by your loud moans.
“Take off your bra. I want to see you.” You think you would do anything he asked as long he didn’t stop.
With one shaky hand you pull up your bra, your tits jumping out of its confinement. Tech watch hungrily as your breasts bounce with each movement. He lick his lips before giving the next order. “Now touch yourself.”
You do as you’re told, pinching your already hard nipple. You decide to give Tech a good show, since you knew he liked to give extra attention to them during sex. You pant softly, sweat running down you temples as you pull and pinch your nipples before soothing the tender skin.
You stare at Tech's parted lips in a greedy way. You wanted to ravish them, to kiss him until you two were out of breath. But the angle didn't allow that at the moment. You're content with his fingers moving inside you for now. More than content actually.
"Are you close, dear?" You can hear his voice through the hum of your ears, nodding your head weakly. "Good. Just relax and come for me."
That definitely wouldn't be a problem for you. You chant his name while your orgasm is ripped from you, making your legs tremble with the intensity. Tech continues with the deep thrusts, prolonging your high until you’re too sensitive. Your head falls back as your chest rose with every breath.
You put your other feet on the ground for balance, both still fragile with the aftershocks. Your heart melts a little inside your chest when you realize the way Tech looks at you. Like you're the most amazing thing he's ever seen.
"You're beautiful." He mumbles.
You cover your face with a grunt. "You can't say that kind of thing while you have two fingers inside me."
"Oh, my apologies." He finally seems to realize that he's still deep inside you, pulling his fingers out slowly. You hiss softly, felling empty all of a sudden."I must say, it definitely helped me get less anxious." Tech says while analyzing your juices in between his digits.
You shake your head at him. Tech was sometimes unbelievable.
Your back complains about being in so many strange positions for so long, but you don't hesitate to duck your head to capture his lips again. Tech looks surprised, but returns the kiss quickly, pulling you to him.
You squeeze him over his pants, making him moan against your mouth. You could feel the hard line of his cock against your palm, applying a little more pressure to hear his desperate groans. Unconsciously, Tech tries to move his hips against your hand, causing a painful grunt from him.
Your eyes widen and you stop immediately. "Are you okay?" You'd hate to have to explain to Hunter that Tech got more hurt during sex. That you shouldn’t be having… because his femur is broken. Kriff.
"I'm alright, don't worry. I just moved my thigh in the wrong way." He tries to pull you for another kiss, but you push him gently against the chair.
“Relax, pretty boy. I will be taking it from here.”
You push away his good leg just enough to get in between them. The ground is cold against your knees, but you're more focused on what comes next. Tech watched you closely as you unzip his pants, pulling his cock out. He was throbbing in your hand, a drop of precum dripping down his head.
You always though Tech had a nice dick. It wasn’t very thick like Hunter or Wrecker, but it was quite long. He always managed to reach that sweet spot inside you that drive you crazy. You almost want to try to ride him, but you couldn’t risk hurting Tech or broking his cast. So that was a idea for another time.
Your fingers close around the base of his cock, letting your breath ghost along his shaft. Tech whines with the tease, pushing his hips in your direction.
You place a hand on his waist to keep him in place. “Stay still for me, love. I don’t want you getting hurt.” He just nods in agreement, desperate for you to continue.
Oh, but you don’t have the heart to tease him for too long. He has been so good to you. You want to give him whatever he asks for.
You stroke him a few times, his cock craving for the attention. You lap at him, taking your time as your tongue explore him slowly. You stare at him, drinking from every sweet expression of pleasure on his face.
Your lips wrap the head of his cock, felling his taste invading your mouth. You start bobbing your head up and down, going deeper each time.
Tech places a hand on your nape, not forcing you down, only resting in there.
You love how vocal he his during sex, but in moments like this, when your mouth is around him, Tech can hardly form a word to save his live. Just letting out broken praises and little pleas. It’s like song to your ears.
This time, it's his moans that reverberate through the walls. You want to smile satisfied with yourself when you hear his little whines every time you suck a bit harder, but that would mean having to take your mouth off Tech, and you wouldn't allow that.
When he hits the back of your throat Tech starts speaking gibberish.“If you keep it up like this I’m going t- Oh maker.” You take him deeper, hollowing your cheeks. His face scrunching in pleasure.“Please, it’s been a while, I c-can’t.”
"I don't want you to hold back, love." You stop for a moment to catch your breath, but keep stroking him with your hand. You fold his balls with the other and it’s cute how hard he’s trying not to move his hips. Without any warning, you go down on him again, leaving Tech in a speechless mess.
Tech gives a weak moan before coming, filling your mouth with hot strings of cum. You close your eyes, savoring his musky taste. You keep milking him until he's totally spent, humming around him before removing his soft cock from your mouth.
You make sure he’s watching while you swallow and lick your lips. You rest your head against his thigh, smiling sweetly at him.
"Feeling more relaxed now?"
He strokes your head, letting out a deep breath. "Oh, Yes. Definitely. Thank you, dear.”
“You know I’m always happy to help.” You rise from the floor, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Do you think you'll be okay while I go take a shower?"
He nods, eyes half closed. “Yes, I will be here waiting for you.” His voice is sleepy and you can see how hard he’s trying not to fall asleep.
You give him a sympathy look, petting his hair. “Go take a nap, I will be back in a minute.”
You have enough time to clean up and finish fixing the ship. No one suspects anything when they return with a crate full of supplies. Well, except Hunter, who gave you a quick side eye.
But you couldn't help but realize that for the rest of the day Tech didn't sigh or bounce his leg, not even once. Maybe you found the cure for his agitation after all.

I’m seeing a few confusions about minor character appearances from the last few episodes of TBB that I want to clear up. Spoilers below the cut:
1. How is AZI back on Pabu with the Batch?
In the last episode of season 2, we see AZ leave Cid’s parlor with Omega on Hunter’s orders, before she turns back to help him and Wrecker. She tells AZ to go find Echo at the Marauder. Later we see AZ next to Echo as they abscond with an Imperial Walker in order to help free Hunter and Wrecker from Hemlock’s soldiers, and he is with them through the rest of their escape.
Most likely, once the boys split up and went looking for Omega, they left AZ on Pabu, or with Phee, or maybe he bounced around between Pabu and helping Echo with things. But either way, he was not left behind at Cid’s.
2. Why does Howzer accuse Crosshair of being the reason his squad was killed when they were only arrested on Ryloth?
It is true that Howzer and the majority of his men were arrested by Crosshair and his squad when they stood up against their programming in season 1. However, when Howzer is rescued in The Tipping Point in season 2, he tells Echo and Riyo that all except 3 members of his original 8 member squad (including himself—it’s also odd that he had such a small squad when he’s technically a Captain) died while in prison and/or were sent to Tantiss.
So while Crosshair didn’t shoot them himself, it’s fair that Howzer would indirectly blame him for their loss and use him as a target for his anger and grief.
Hope these help 😎

I've noticed that Omega has been getting a lot of hate in TBB fandom after s2e9 was released. My own partner even stated "ugh Omega's such a twat" during his watch of the episode. As someone who's seen season 1 over 50 times and every episode of season 2 at least twice, I want to just remind everyone of a few things:
1. Omega was raised on Kamino as a medical assistant. We have to assume she's seen some shit just from that.
2. She left Kamino (her home) and Nala Se (the closest thing she's had to a parental figure) behind.
3. She lost her brother (Crosshair) to the Empire.
4. She literally had no idea what fun was or how to have it until s1e2 when she met Cut and Suu's kids. This is something she still seems to struggle with as we see in s2e2 when Romar has to explain to her that what he gave her is a toy and that it makes people happy.
5. She has killed. I don't have an official body count but she kills quite a few people during the series. Why the Batch haven't given her a blaster set to stun is beyond me. Sure, the bow is cool but it's fatal because it always uses live rounds.
6. Bounty hunters were after her and she almost got taken once in s1e4 and then actually taken in s1e8. The show doesn't touch on it, but I bet she thought Cad Bane had killed Hunter and she had no way of knowing for sure until she heard his voice on her comm.
7. She saw Wrecker almost kill the Batch and Rex and then almost her. She knew it was the chip but still, shit like that leaves a mark.
8. She was in Tipoca City as it was being bombarded, almost lost Crosshair to drowning, and almost drowned herself while trying to save the last piece she had of her past (AZI)
9. She watched Crosshair willingly leave again, right after she lost Tipoca City forever.
10. She has almost died too many times to count. I still remember watching the scene in s2e1 where she, Tech, and Echo are falling with the container and there's a zoom on her eyes as she screams and I just thought "she's going to have nightmares and flashbacks from this, she's going to break this season."
11. She was brought along to see the mystery clone's body in s2e8. I literally went "What the fuck are you all doing?! Don't show her the dead body!" while watching it. Echo had the most sense in that scene when he tried to gently move her away. The look that she was giving in the scene was heartbreaking.
12. Echo left the team.
13. She lost her home (the Marauder) again. And the show doesn't touch on this but she lost Gonky too.
14. She is a LITERAL CHILD. If she is aging normally, her brain is not developed enough to really process all these traumatic events in a healthy way.
Let me know if I missed anything but yeah that's most of it. Some of these things would make even the most calm and mature adult go insane, let alone a child. Her entire world, everything she has ever known has fallen apart since the Empire took over. She keeps losing more and more things and we have to remember that. Imagine going through all of that and then hearing "what is your issue?" That would be the last straw for you too.
