Okay here’s the thing I’m really annoyed about concerning Tim Drake:
He didn’t remain CEO in more than name. He let Lucius take care of everything he just used the position to create his Neon Knights initiative. He isn’t running WE. He is however running NK. He’s traveling around the world setting up NK locations in cities with lots of at risk youth. He’s not running a Fortune 500 company he’s running a non-profit charity organization dedicated to protecting kids and getting more people on a stable path earlier in life. He isn’t out here dealing with rich, white, assholes so he can make money for himself! He’s doing it to better the world, he’s doing it for education and a safe environment for kids around the world! And he is facing a lot of resistance from the rest of the rich and powerful. He is endearing himself to no one in the business world because his ultimate goal is to dethrone them all by fixing the wage gap. He wants people to have choices so the rich and powerful can’t exploit them as easily.
Tim Drake is not a business man. He has the skills, the ruthlessness and the determination but not the desire. He uses his status and money to help people in need. And it’s a more realistic way of helping the world. You can’t just throw money at problems and expect them to go away. Donating money doesn’t help nearly as much as using money to create systems that help people get the skills and opportunities they need. It takes dedicated work and meticulous oversight and it’s not something that can be done casually. It’s a commitment, not a hobby. The world is to fucked up for any easy fixes. But Neon Knights is a great idea, a long term solution if done correctly. I’ve always thought that fixing education and making sure everyone has equal opportunity from a young age would fix a lot of the issues in the world. More educated people making smarter decisions, more diversity because everyone’s success in entirely merit based. Anyway I’m getting off track. Point is, Tim isn’t some business man with charitable contributions here and there. He’s dedicated his civilian life to the long term benefit of society. He’s not a slacker or a full time vigilante. He’s out there building an entirely new system, a global network of people and locations dedicated solely to helping kids have better futures.

Society has put so much more effort into keeping people alive (as an Industry in the age of post-humanity) than it has put into making said life worth living. An example of a clear link between cultural and economic problems.
Now there’s articles about how we need to consider spending increasingly longer portions of our lives working to finance ourselves and other generations because we are living longer. -But our ability to work (and “live”) still diminishes with age even as we are able to live to older ages.
The solution is not to just keep finding medical advancements forever, but first, to live better lives with the same time. Not as individual choice but as a change of our cultural values across society.
Profit and the spread of industrialization into culture itself has created an age of post-humanity. Most people focus purely on the economic consequences of such a system on individual people, but what goes mostly unnoticed is the cultural shift which has occurred internally within everyone, even those aware and critical of the economic harm being done to humanity. In an attempt to be utilitarian, people still value quantity of what is considered improvement over quality.

i still can't believe she said that shit to me
#wordstag#she KNOWS I can't get behind that stuff ! She's met me yeah ?#tthen she has the audacity to say it's not that deep. Like yeah; saying that all of humanity is inherently evil and wouldn't#accomplish anything if it weren't for their lives hanging over their heads isn't that deep. Average Tuesday type conversation.#'if you were an apple farmer wouldn't you want to hoard your apples?' BUT FOR WHAT?? WHERE DOES THAT GREED GET YOU. WHY IS THE AVERAGE#PERSON IN YOUR MIND INHERENTLY GREEDY. Like ohhh if everything was free nothing would get done because people need motivation#like shit isn't getting done as it is now. You want to be a music teacher. You can't because of money. Why isn't this an obvious solution#like . I know you can't just go welp everything is free now; have fun. I know you can't destroy all of modern economics like that.#but why is a hypothetical magical world where we do that bad. What did the human race do before capitalism? Just roll over and die?#there was still art. There's always art. There's always going to be someone who wants to do something with their life that can't#because of MONEY. Like everything is so focused on money [coughing at the art industry] why can't it just be .#^^^^ anyway context I was talking 2 someone (that I know . Like really well ) and proposed just#getting rid of money forever . Because fhey wanted to be a teacher but couldn't bc money#and this was like . The most preposterous thing to them. Why would people do anything if not for money etcetc#even went as far as 'humans are inherently evil' which wooooaaaaah slow down there buddy .#you're letting your christian show. Or whateevr. Idk just not an idea I can personally get behind#then she goes 'it'snotbthat deep' like she didn't just imply something about the entirety of the human population. The Pointlessness of the SAG Strike 2023
In recent weeks, the entertainment industry has been rocked by news of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) strike in 2023. While the actors involved in the strike have their reasons and concerns, it's essential to critically examine whether this strike is truly necessary or if it might be, in fact, quite pointless.
Economic Impact: One of the most immediate consequences of the SAG strike is the significant economic impact it has on the industry. Thousands of jobs, from actors to crew members, are being affected. Production companies are losing millions of dollars every day the strike continues. Given the economic hardships that many people have faced in recent times, including the COVID-19 pandemic, one must question the wisdom of causing further financial strain on the industry and its workers.
Demands and Priorities: The demands put forth by the striking actors are not unreasonable. However, one could argue that these demands might not be the top priority in a world grappling with more pressing issues. With global crises like climate change, social justice, and healthcare disparities, is a higher salary for already well-paid actors truly the most critical concern? Many people struggle to make ends meet, and it's hard to sympathize fully with actors making exorbitant salaries, especially when so many others are struggling.
Timing: The timing of the SAG strike is questionable, at best. It's happening in an era when the industry is still recovering from the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people in the entertainment business are just getting back on their feet after months of uncertainty and unemployment. Striking now seems insensitive to the plight of others in the industry.
Alternative Solutions: Are strikes the only way to resolve disputes and negotiate better terms? In an industry that thrives on creativity and innovation, one would hope for more imaginative and collaborative solutions. Negotiation and dialogue could lead to more mutually beneficial outcomes without causing widespread disruption and financial loss.
Public Perception: Lastly, it's worth considering the public perception of the strike. In an age where people are increasingly disillusioned with celebrities and their lavish lifestyles, a strike like this may only further alienate the audience. The entertainment industry depends on the support and admiration of the public, and a strike that seems self-serving could harm its reputation.
In conclusion, while the actors participating in the SAG strike 2023 may have legitimate concerns, it's crucial to weigh the impact of their actions on the broader industry and society as a whole. In a world facing numerous pressing issues, this strike may indeed appear pointless to many, given its economic consequences and the perceived priorities of those involved. Perhaps there are more constructive ways to address the concerns of actors and create a fairer and more equitable entertainment industry.

whenever the topic of khalistan gets brought up it's so difficult to articulate my thoughts on it given the complexity of the situation but fundamentally it boils down to: establishing a religious ethnostate will not save us or address any of the fundamental problems punjabis face especially the fundamental issue of Class, which can be easily seen in every other attempt to establish a religious ethnostate in the past 100 years. the answer is socialism, not a sikh ethnostate, which i think many of my people understand but is a conversation that most are unwilling to engage in at the moment. also i'm perpetually wary of solutions to the problems facing south asia with the solution of 'lets just balkanize india' because splitting up large states into small ethnostates is, once again, not a good idea, the goal shouldn't be to create more partitions and borders.

The Vanishing Waters: Unveiling the Alarming Rate of Degradation in Our World's Water-Related Ecosystems
Tumblr media
Our planet's water-related ecosystems are the lifeblood of biodiversity and play a crucial role in sustaining life on Earth. These diverse habitats, ranging from serene lakes and flowing rivers to vibrant coral reefs and teeming wetlands, provide essential services that are essential for human survival and the well-being of countless species. However, a looming crisis threatens the very existence of these vital ecosystems. The world's water-related ecosystems are being degraded at an alarming rate, putting our environment, wildlife, and even our own future at risk. In this article, we will delve into the causes, consequences, and potential solutions to combat this pressing issue and ensure the survival of these precious ecosystems.
The Magnitude of the Crisis
The degradation of water-related ecosystems is a global challenge that requires immediate attention. Around the world, these habitats are facing a range of threats, including pollution, habitat destruction, overfishing, climate change, and invasive species. These factors, often interconnected, are wreaking havoc on the delicate balance within these ecosystems.
Pollution: A Slow Poison
One of the leading culprits behind the deterioration of water-related ecosystems is pollution. Industrial waste, agricultural runoff, and untreated sewage find their way into our waters, contaminating them with harmful chemicals and plastics. These pollutants not only harm aquatic life but also have far-reaching consequences for humans who rely on these water sources for drinking and agriculture.
Habitat Destruction: Losing Our Natural Havens
The relentless expansion of human activities, including deforestation and urbanization, is rapidly encroaching upon the habitats of various aquatic species. Wetlands are drained, mangroves are cleared, and rivers are diverted, disrupting the natural flow and interconnectedness of these ecosystems. As a result, countless species lose their homes and face the threat of extinction.
Overfishing: Depleting the Ocean's Bounty
Overfishing is pushing marine ecosystems to the brink of collapse. Unregulated and unsustainable fishing practices, coupled with the demand for seafood, are causing a decline in fish populations, disrupting food chains, and jeopardizing the livelihoods of coastal communities that depend on fishing for survival.
Climate Change: The Silent Menace
Perhaps the most insidious threat to water-related ecosystems is climate change. Rising global temperatures lead to the melting of polar ice caps, causing sea levels to rise and intensifying storms and floods. These changes have devastating effects on coastal areas, submerging critical habitats, and causing the loss of biodiversity.
Consequences of Ecosystem Degradation
The degradation of water-related ecosystems has severe consequences for both the environment and human societies. As these ecosystems collapse, they disrupt the services they provide, such as water purification, flood control, and carbon sequestration, impacting human health and economies worldwide.
Biodiversity Loss: A Precarious Chain Reaction
Water-related ecosystems are home to a vast array of species, many of which are uniquely adapted to these environments. As these habitats deteriorate, many species face extinction, triggering a chain reaction that affects the entire ecosystem. The loss of one species can have cascading effects on others, disrupting the delicate web of life.
Threats to Food Security
Fisheries, both marine and freshwater, play a significant role in providing sustenance to billions of people around the globe. The depletion of fish populations due to overfishing and habitat destruction threatens the food security and livelihoods of millions, particularly in developing countries that heavily rely on fish as a primary protein source.
The Impact on Human Health
The quality of our water is directly linked to our health. Polluted water can cause waterborne diseases, affecting millions of people each year. Additionally, the loss of water-related ecosystems reduces the availability of clean water for drinking and sanitation, exacerbating the global water crisis.
Rising Economic Costs
The degradation of water-related ecosystems comes with a hefty price tag. Loss of fisheries, increased frequency of floods, and the decline of coastal protection services result in billions of dollars in economic losses each year. The expenses related to ecosystem restoration and mitigation efforts add further strain on already burdened economies.
Restoring the Balance: A Call to Action
Despite the grim picture painted by the state of our water-related ecosystems, there is hope. By acknowledging the urgency of the situation and taking collective action, we can begin the process of restoring the balance and ensuring the survival of these vital habitats.
Strengthening Environmental Regulations
Governments and policymakers must implement and enforce stringent environmental regulations to control pollution, protect habitats, and promote sustainable fishing practices. Strengthening international cooperation on environmental issues is also essential, as water-related ecosystems transcend national boundaries.
Sustainable Water Management
Water is a finite resource, and sustainable water management is key to ensuring the survival of water-related ecosystems. Implementing efficient irrigation systems, reducing water wastage, and prioritizing the conservation of natural water bodies are vital steps in this direction.
Embracing Renewable Energy
Transitioning to renewable energy sources can significantly mitigate climate change and its impact on water-related ecosystems. Embracing solar, wind, and hydroelectric power can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit the rise in global temperatures.
Community Involvement and Education
Engaging local communities in conservation efforts is crucial for the success of any environmental initiative. Raising awareness about the importance of water-related ecosystems and involving communities in restoration projects fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility.
Supporting Conservation Organizations
Supporting organizations like Green Thestral Inc. that are dedicated to environmental conservation can make a significant difference. Contributing to their efforts through donations or volunteer work helps fund critical projects aimed at protecting and restoring water-related ecosystems.
Conclusion
The state of the world's water-related ecosystems demands urgent attention and action from all corners of society. As individuals, communities, and nations, we hold the power to turn the tide and secure the future of these invaluable habitats. By addressing the root causes of degradation, promoting sustainable practices, and supporting conservation initiatives, we can pave the way for a healthier planet and a brighter future for all living beings.
