Temperatures
As always, when you see one of these posts pop up you can head straight over to twirlynoodle.com/blog to see it properly formatted and with pictures. Tumblr didn't even take the crosspost last time so I don't know what's going on!
It’s all well and good to share photos of Antarctica – after all, it is a beautiful place, and we are predominantly a visual species. The photos can give you a sense of what it looks like, but not what it feels like. If people know anything about Antarctica, it’s that it’s cold. But how cold? And what kind of cold?
I cannot speak to the full range of Antarctic weather.  I was down for exactly a month, in early summer, and aside from the first week, the weather was unusually calm and mild.  To my great disappointment, I didn't see a single blizzard!  But I did get enough to compare the feel of Antarctica with other places I have been, and I hope that by making those comparisons here, I will bring you a little closer to understanding quite literally what it feels like to be there.
Temperatures are misleading.  A number can only give you an impression of what one might actually feel when one steps out the door.  Humidity, sunshine, and wind are external factors that affect the perception of temperature; this can be further influenced by how much sleep or food you've had, BMI, resting metabolism, your accustomed climate, where you've just come from – so, 6°C can feel different from one day to the next, or to two different people standing side by side.
There are roughly two types of cold: dry and damp. The influential factor is water, because it takes a tremendous amount of energy to make water change temperature – this is why it takes so much power to boil a kettle, and why we bring hot water bottles to bed instead of hot gravel bottles. In dry environments, there is less water vapour in the air to suck up the heat coming off your body, so you get to keep more of it for yourself. It may be well below freezing, but you will feel the cold merely as a sensation on your skin, where it meets the air, and not something that goes right through you. Damp cold, because of the energy-hungry water in the air, feels a lot colder. It’s not enough merely to cover your skin, you need layers of fabrics that have moisture-repelling properties (wool is key; cotton is useless). Your precious body heat will leak out through any weak point in your clothing. Because of their different properties, dry air can be much colder than damp air and yet feel more comfortable. In my experience, damp cold is the worst when it’s above freezing, because below freezing the air can’t hold so much water. Damp climates, however, tend not to get much below freezing, so when people from damp climates imagine very cold temperatures, they imagine the insidious cold they know, only much much worse. It’s not necessarily like that.
Even the objective numerical value of a temperature presents a problem: my historical sources, and the United States of America, report temperatures in Fahrenheit, while the rest of the world operates in Celsius.  Scientists prefer the metric system, but McMurdo is an American base, so it's functionally bilingual.  I tend to think in Celsius, but as the historical record was in °F and I wanted to be able to compare what I was experiencing with what my guys experienced, I paid more attention to °F while I was down there.  In this post, I will report actual temperatures in both, so you can look at whichever one you understand best.
When I left Britain in mid-October, we had been having a very mild autumn, after a hot summer.  My hopes for hardening up a little on the way to Antarctica were dashed when Vancouver, though objectively colder, felt merely fresh and delightful, I assume because it was unseasonably dry.  LA is always dry in the autumn and usually hot, so that was no surprise; Christchurch however was much warmer than expected, and because it wasn't as dry as LA, felt even hotter.  After several days' delay there, I feared my blood was much too thin to be hurtled into ice and snow.
It is regulation to wear one's Extreme Cold Weather gear on the plane to McMurdo.  Aware that I'd just had a fortnight of heat to thin my blood, and that they were just coming out of a cold snap down there, I was only too happy to take this precaution.  When the plane landed, everyone piled on their balaclavas and tuques, and when the door opened, an icy-looking fog formed as our pent-up breaths met the cold air from outside.  Here we go, I thought.  As I approached the gangway I braced myself for the smart of cold air on exposed skin and the stiletto keenness as I inhaled, but . . .
. . . it was fine.
In fact, it was so fine that when I was allowed to change out of my ECW, I put on my street shoes, not even my cold-weather hiking boots.  I knew dry cold from Utah and Alberta, but I was coming to understand that in an Antarctic context, “well it was -20, but it was a dry cold” isn't a joke, it's just a statement of fact.  +6°C(42°F) would be miserable in damp Cambridge, but -6°C(21°F) was quite comfortable at McMurdo – if it wasn't windy, one could happily go about without a coat.
One always had a coat to hand, though, because the wind could turn up at any time, and it made a big difference.  The first time I went to Cape Evans it was so mild as to be balmy – I was in snow pants because they were required for the snowmobile, but on top I stripped down to just my base layer and a medium-weight sweater, and was even a bit warm in that.  It was -1°C/30°F, but I could happily have sat down to a picnic.
Tumblr media
Before we left, I wanted to make a quick trip up Wind Vane Hill.  I got hot climbing it, but while on top, a breeze kicked up, and before long I was wishing I hadn't left my jacket at the bottom.  The reason I have my hands tucked in my snow pants bib in the above photo is because they were beginning to feel quite nippy.  I always had a jacket with me after that, even if I cursed its dead weight the whole time.  (It was usually my trenchcoat, not the big red parka, for this reason.  I will go into more depth on clothing in a future post.)
A similar thing happened on my Basler flight.  I'm afraid I don't know the actual temperatures where and when we landed – we were at the inland extremity of the Barrier, though, so everything I'd read told me it ought to be noticeably colder than McMurdo.  It might well have been.  But the only clue that it wasn't a perfectly warm summer day was that the slightest stir in the air breathed ice on my hands.  It felt much the same at the much higher altitude site of CTAM.  The interior of the continent is even drier than the coast: apparently, in the absence of wind and on a bright sunny day, this makes temperature barely perceptible at all.
A windless day is a vast exception in the case of Antarctic weather, though, and besides chilling a human body, the direction of the wind makes a big difference to the objective air temperature.  A north wind, arriving from over the open sea, was comparatively mild.  Most of the time, however, the wind was from the east to south, coming cold off the icy interior.  This sends it funnelling through The Gap straight at Hut Point. The Hut Point Wind was infamous in the Heroic Age; even now it can be a pleasant day at the station, but one must remember to kit up just to walk around the corner to the Discovery Hut.
It did make for some great photos, though, because if the conditions were just right – which they were a few times in my month there – the wind would kick up some freshly fallen snow and things would look so very Antarctic.  The funny thing was, on the days when it looked quintessentially polar, it was actually comparatively warm.  The snow was so powdery that a fairly light wind could lift it, so it didn't have to be brutally windy to look brutally windy.  The cold really sets in when a high pressure system stays in place for a while and keeps the air still; if there is turbulence, there is warmth, and if a weather system moves through – such as the kind that delivers snow – the temperature rises considerably.  So in order for there to be fresh snow to blow around, there will have been a recent warm spell, whereas if it's starting to get cold again, the new snow will have compacted enough not to blow around.  The strongest winds I encountered in Antarctica were at Cape Crozier, but you'd never guess it from my photos, which haven't a speck of drift.  I am sure there are exceptions to this, but this was a dependable pattern in my time there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above: two images of light snow blowing off just after a snowfall, when it was comparatively warm. Below: 30-knot winds at Cape Crozier, but you'd never guess.
Tumblr media
One of my oddest temperature memories was in one of those balmy drifty situations.  I had been asked to give my history lecture over at Scott Base, and I was to wait for the Kiwi truck at a designated pickup point on the road coming over from The Gap.  There are three official categories for weather in Antarctica: Condition 3 is when everything can operate as normal: it can be cold, it can be windy, but visibility is fine and the ordinary precautions will see you through.  Condition 2 is when things are starting to get serious: drift and/or winds are reaching dangerous levels, extra precaution is necessary, and venturing outside is discouraged.  Condition 1 is when everyone is required to stay indoors except on vital business as merely venturing outside is a life-threatening risk.  During my month there it was always Condition 3, but within the hour of my pickup a Condition 2 had been declared on the Scott Base side of The Gap.  My ride said she would be coming anyway, as she would be overwintering and needed the practice of driving in Condition 2, so I went up to meet her.  I was hoping I would finally get a blast of Antarctica, but it gave me a surprise.  For one, it was warm.  And, yes, it was windy, but not desperately so, and the wind had a damp sweetness that, weirdly, made me think of swelling streams and crocuses.  The Condition 2 had been called purely because of the drift, which was obscuring the road and therefore made driving more hazardous than usual.  It was surreal to hear my driver checking in with her radio operator as if she were chasing tornadoes when it was really quite pleasant out.
My first few days at McMurdo were by far the coldest of my whole visit.  When I first visited the Discovery Hut it was -18°C, or just below 0°F, and rather windy on the way back.  That was when I learned that one can be feeling really quite cosy all over but one's outermost extremities can still suffer the cold – I distinctly remember wondering why my fingertips were tingling when I felt so warm, and a little while later my toes went numb and I had to stamp them back to life.  The dryness, not sapping your core heat, can lure you into a false sense of security, and nab your digits while you're not looking.
After that, daily highs mostly hovered around the freezing point, and lows rarely dipped as low as -10°C/+14°F.  This was really very mild – indeed, the people who'd been down since September could often be seen flitting about in t-shirts – and was an amusing irony for me personally.  Twice in the past I'd visited Calgary in search of 'Antarctic' cold and hit, instead, a relatively mild spell; it turned out that in Antarctica I was getting exactly the same weather that I had thought un-Antarctic in Calgary.  Not only was it the same weather on paper, but it felt exactly the same as well – the light, fresh kiss of frosty air on one's cheeks, surprising warmth in the sunshine but a breeze to keep you honest, and even the same granular texture to old snow.  Altitude can give you the same feeling, as the thinner air cannot hold as much moisture as it can at lower levels, so if you've not been to the Prairies but have been on a ski holiday, you can use that as a reference point as well.
It is much harder to draw parallels with damper climates.  At home in Cambridge, I have a sort of 'misery zone' between 4°-10°C (40°-50°F) where it's too cold to be warm, but not cold enough to be crisp, and the damp seems to seep through every layer to reach in and chill. As the thermometer plunges towards freezing and below, it is, ironically, more comfortable weather, because the colder the air is, the less moisture it can hold.  In Britain I have sometimes found myself taking off layers as the mercury falls.  When imagining Antarctica, people often extrapolate from their own experience of cold temperatures: If your base measure of cold is the 'misery zone' in a damp climate, such as Europe or the Eastern US, then you may think 'If 6°C feels like this, then -6° must feel that much worse' when in fact all the other factors at play can make it preferable.  Even the cold days on my arrival at McMurdo were nicer, experientially, than a misty morning in deepest February back home.  At one point, Cherry describes Antarctic summer weather as resembling a crisp sunny morning in September, and indeed from a British perspective Antarctica often felt more like a bright and breezy 13°C (55°F) than anything closer to freezing.
Tumblr media
This gave me some perspective on the early explorers.  If they had spent their lives on this chilly island, and then travelled to Antarctica over a chilly sea, they would be coming at it with all the assumptions one acquires from experience with humid cold.  Finding not an amplification of your worst experiences, but instead a wonderland where the thermometer seemed to exist in a different reality – certainly the case when they arrived in midsummer – would encourage some overconfidence that we might consider reckless.  Some, like Scott, had been down before and knew how deceptive the weather could be; his journals are full of chiding his team for not taking Antarctica seriously.  But there were many who were new to it, and even after an Antarctic winter, sheltered as they were in an insulated hut by the sea, they did not fully grasp how dangerous things could get inland and how narrow the margins were.  A breeze may be thrilling when it brings the truth of -10 to exposed skin warmed by the sun; when the truth is -40 it's instant frostbite.  While I didn't get temperatures that low, my experience with higher ones can, I hope, help me imagine how that would go.
The dryness that made the cold so bearable granted me a reprieve from an opposing worry.  Outside of Britain I generally find buildings overheated in the winter – I have to remind myself to pack light 'inside clothes' or else I suffocate.  This is especially the case in the States, and McMurdo being an American base I foresaw having to strip five layers off and put them back on again every time I entered or exited a building.  They may have been overheated, but I don't know – dry air saps the potency of heat as well as cold, so it was as comfortable to wear three layers as one, and that saved me a lot of time in the cloakroom.  Thanks, Antarctica!
I had got so used to the nip in the air that I thought I'd be inured to cold for the rest of the winter, but once I was back on this cold damp North Atlantic island, the misery zone was as potent as ever.  I may not have picked up thermoregulation superpowers in Antarctica, but I did come back with two secret weapons: merino wool base layers, and an utter disregard for my appearance so long as I was warm.  I highly recommend both to anyone in a disagreeable climate.

50 Wrestling Questions: Why Not
Remember this? It’s been a while. Let’s do this again. Let’s twist again like we did last summer. Or the summer of 2017 in this case.
1. What got you into wrestling?
People ask me this all the time, and I don’t really have a good answer. I’ve liked it on and off since I was very young, and who knows why you like the stuff you like when you’re a little kid?
2. What is your favorite wrestling promotion?
Of all time: ECW, even though I would probably think of it very differently if it were happening today. Currently: Beyond Wrestling.
3. Favorite male wrestler of all time?
Gorgeous George, but if we’re talking about people who were alive when I was alive, Dusty Rhodes. I want to say Bruiser Brody, but in my heart I would know I was just saying that to look cool.
4. Favorite female wrestler of all time?
Gail Kim. For the longest time, she was the only woman in a major global wrestling company who got over based on her wrestling ability. She was doing stuff in TNA that was years ahead of its time, and could adapt her style to get great matches with a variety of opponents with very different backgrounds. And she can still go, as she showed in the match against Tessa Blanchard the other night. I know it would be cooler to say Bull Nakano or Chigusa Nagayo or something, but I don’t know enough of their stuff to make that claim credible. I am who I am, a person who goes to the mall to buy shoes.
5. Favorite current male wrestler?
Nick Gage
6. Favorite current female wrestler?
Momo Watanabe
7. Favorite theme song?
Joey Janela’s music captures his vibe perfectly, and sounds great being blasted out of PA speakers inside a small bar or VFW hall. Of all time, probably, I don’t know, Honky Tonk Man? In an ironic way that slowly becomes sincere?
8. Least favorite theme song?
Ricochet’s WWE theme music is pretty dreadful.
9. Favorite gimmick?
Currently: Orange Cassidy. All time: Road Warriors maybe? They were almost 100 percent gimmick, and they were the biggest tag team in the world at a great time for tag team wrestling.
10. Least favorite gimmick?
All the racist and gay-hating gimmicks that have been used throughout the years are more or less equally horrible. If we’re talking about a terrible gimmick that was non-malignant, I’d say it was taking giant indestructible ass-kicker Mike Awesome and making him “That 70s Guy.”
11. Best entrance (either their usual entrance or a special one, like a Wrestlemania entrance)?
Gorgeous George had the best entrance of all time, and it’s been copied ever since (Ric Flair’s entrance is basically Gorgeous George’s, scored with a different piece of classical music). The Sandman also had a great entrance. He was kind of all-entrance, now that I think of it. I also love those old shows in Japan where Brody would come out to “Immigrant Song” running through the crowd, swinging a fucking chain over his head like a lunatic. An entrance that makes you fear for your life: mission accomplished.
12. Best Undertaker Wrestlemania match?
I am not the right person to ask for Undertaker superlatives, but the Lesnar match had a legitimately shocking conclusion that I still appreciate
13. Most overrated?
I’m tempted to incur the wrath of the online by making a contrarian hot take selection like Ken Omega, but in reality it’s probably the Undertaker.
14. Most underrated?
There are a million choices from before the 1980s, the Before Time of contemporary pro wrestling. Edouard Carpentier, say; he was having matches in 1970 that would not look out of place in 2019. Since the 1980s, I’d say Jerry Lynn is a very strong contender for most underrated. The popular choice would be Sid or Lex Luger, but I think they’re pretty much rated exactly as they should be.
15. Have you ever been to an event? If so, which one?
I certainly have been to many pro wrestling events. I go to one or two a month. Like a lot of things, wrestling is pretty much always fun in person. It helps that the Northeast has a ton of good companies within easy driving distance. My favorite show of all time might be Americanrana 2016.
16. Who has the best merch?
We’re in a weird period where people on Instagram are making better shirt designs (in insanely limited editions) than the vast majority of wrestlers or wrestling companies. I will say that Kris Wolf has yet to make an ugly or boring piece of merchandise, which is a huge complication in this day and age.
17. Do you own any merch?
Nope! Wait, I mean, “yes, entirely too much.” Shirts, 8 x 10s, DVDs, magazines, random pieces like fancy enamel badges and a stack of Okada bucks. The one thing I’ve never gotten into is action figures, and that’s probably good for the ol’ bank balance.
18. Best nickname?
"The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes is an all-time classic.
19. Worst nickname?
"The Game” is a dumb nickname. “The Cerebral Assassin” is also a dumb nickname. Are assassins supposed to be stupid? I bet they’re typically very smart, although of low moral character. “Triple H” is his only good nickname, and even that sounds like the nickname of a guy who owns a car dealership out by the highway.
20. Best mic skills?
Nobody was ever better than Bobby Heenan, who had incredible range and versatility. He could do comedy and he could do menace. He could do calm and he could do spitting rage. He had an uncanny sense of timing and was quicker on his feet than almost anyone. No one really comes close at matching his astonishing depth, but Dusty Rhodes was an all-time great promo. He really made you care about wrestling matches, which is not an easy thing to do.
21. Most annoying?
I mean, it has to be Vince McMahon.
22. Most attractive male?
Is Tanahashi too obvious a choice? Best hair in wrestling. It’s incredible and luxurious, like an untamed mountain stream. Andrade “Cien” Almas or whatever they’ve shortened his name to (”And”) is a handsome man. Killer Kross: very handsome. We live in a golden age of attractive wrestlers. Just look back at the gassed-up Zubaz mastodons of the 1980s, or the territories-era guys who all looked like they were 48 years old and had pot bellies. You almost have to try to find unattractive wrestlers. Nick Gage, for instance. But I’m sure even he has his swooning admirers.
23. Most attractive female?
Again, what a time for attractive wrestlers. It may be shallow, but wrestling is a business that’s at least partially cosmetic. Attractive people sell tickets. I would, and have, bought a ticket to see Hana Kimura.
24. Favorite faction?
Of all time? Probably the Barry Windham-era Four Horsemen. More recently, Team Pazuzu.
25. Worst faction?
BULLET CLUB. No, it’s not the Bullet Club, as exhausted as they’ve become. It’s probably the nWo after early 1998 or so, when they had like 60 members and dragged down every storyline.
26. Best ring gear?
Su Yung and Pentagon Jr.
27. Who do you think would be the nicest in real life?
I bet Jerry Lynn is a good guy to know. People in wrestling universally praise Little Guido, which is very rare. The Young Bucks seem like they might be decent dudes. Willow Nightingale told a story on a podcast about Nick Gage excitedly playing with Solo Darling’s dog backstage, so you never know.
28. Who would be the rudest in real life?
On the indie level, it’s probably someone who doesn’t work very much. Above the indie level, I bet some of those British guys are secretly horrible, like Jimmy Havoc.
29. Favorite heel?
Currently it’s a tie between MJF and Alisha Edwards, two of the only people who can regularly get indie crowds to boo them. Of all time, heel Flair was hard to beat.
30. Most hardcore?
It’s definitely either a guy in Japan or a guy in Mexico, and he’s definitely been burned by explosive charges multiple times. Onita? It’s probably Onita. Or Jun Kasai? I think Onita has probably been exploded more times than Jun Kasai.
31. A wrestler you could beat?
At wrestling? Not a single one of them. Nicholas, the small boy who won the WWE tag team championship with Braun Strowman, would wipe the floor with me. Even the most callow bodybuilder-turned-wrestler would not break a sweat beating me senseless. But writing talking points for senior administration officials in preparation for legislative testimony? Now you’re on my turf. Not so tough now, huh, Nicholas?
32. Best story line?
Freebirds vs. Von Erichs or Stone Cold vs. Vince. My heart says the former, my head says the latter.
33. Biggest missed opportunity for a story line?
The WWE blowing the invasion angle after purchasing WCW is the obvious one. More recently, they blew it by not turning Reigns heel.
34. Worst story line?
Ha, so many of them. Impossible to choose just one. At least most of the dumb embarrassing Russo ones in WCW and TNA were basically harmless, like the time Samoa Joe got kidnapped by ninjas. The Chuck and Billy wedding thing was far worse. A low point even by Vince’s impressively cretinous standards.
35. Which wrestler should turn heel?
I’d like to see a Jordynne Grace heel run in Impact. Heel Finn Balor would also be good.
36. Which wrestler should turn face?
Samoa Joe has a good fiery babyface, “I’m tired of doing your dirty work, McMahon!” run in him.
37. Who would be the worst to room with?
Can you imagine sharing a living space with Enzo Amore? Or the thicket of twee Disney merchandise you’d have to negotiate every day if you lived with Johnny Gargano?
38. Who would be the best to room with?
I bet Eddie Edwards would be a surprisingly thoughtful roommate, like he’d always do the dishes “because I love doing them!,” that kind of thing. I have nothing to base this suspicion on, he just seems like my old roommate, Shane, who was like that.
39. Who would be your best friend if you were a wrestler?
I’d like to say Jushin Thunder Liger, and posit that we would go on exciting adventures, but the answer is probably something like “Comp Time” Terry Dandridge, who wrestles monthly for 2Xtreme All-Pro Wrestling Alliance out of Euphoria, Kansas and has a 9 to 5 as a hardware store manager.
40. What would your job be in a wrestling promotion?
I’d normally make a self-effacing joke here, but I do social media training at my real job, and so many wrestlers are badly in need of help in this area.
41. Favorite wrestling podcast/Youtube channel?
I like AIW’s “The Card is Going to Change” podcast a lot, and there’s one by the owners of RevPro that’s pretty good. It’s hard to find a well-produced wrestling podcast that talks about independent wrestling. My favorite wrestling YouTube channel is OSW Review.
42. Favorite finisher?
BURNING HAMMER
43. Least favorite finisher?
The Bayley-to-belly suplex. HOW IS THIS A FINISHING MOVE
44. Favorite match?
Kerry Von Erich vs. Jerry Lawler at Superclash III. It was a bloody, weird, engrossing spectacle, and it was the symbolic end of the territories era.
45. Favorite PPV?
Royal Rumble is the last PPV my casual fan friends reliably want to see, and with good reason: it’s engrossing.
46. Guilty pleasure wrestler?
Big Banter Baron Corbin, but I feel no guilt here. He rules.
47. Favorite submission?
THE KATA HA JIME, otherwise known as the Tazmission.
48. Most entertaining to watch?
All time? Randy Savage. Currently? Io Shirai.
49. Best spot?
Anyone spitting mist into the unsuspecting eyes of their foes
50. Who do you most respect?
I respect you, booker man.

Since the last Train Sim World 2 add-on is out in 2021. I had decided to compile the horns again. Technically, the year has ended with the marvelous TSG's DB G6 and the Arosa Line update that may had updated the horn on the Ge 4/4 ii, of course don't forget about the 3 Rush Hour routes. The next route that would be releasing after this video is Tharandter Rampe: Dresden - Chemnitz which is set to be out in the new year as well the preservation updates. This video includes all the sound samples possible along each locomotive/train in the game as with multiple versions of the particular rolling stock. Also, I had recorded on how the horn is sounded inside the cab, all though with the windows closed of course as it is not possible to do on every train. This video last for 46 minutes which is around 3 times than the previous horn compilation video from last year. It is sorted by country and older to new routes in that country. This order would go as FR, CH, US/CA, GB, & DE. all questions with a 2!
you got it!
2. What is your favorite wrestling promotion?
historically it was ECW. right now it’s NJPW.
12. Best Undertaker Wrestlemania match?
X8 vs. Ric Flair. Or the second Shawn Michaels one.
20. Best mic skills?
Open-ended question, because what are we talking about? Interviews? Macho Man. Promos? Jake Roberts. Commentary? Heenan.
21. Most annoying?
WWE writers re: Roman Reigns.
22. Most attractive male?
I’ve got a bit of a crush on Hiromu Takahasi right now.
23. Most attractive female?
I’ve got a bit of a crush on Alexa Bliss and a major one on Rosemary, but anyone remember Traci Brooks? She was gorgeous.
24. Favorite faction?
Right now it’s Bullet Club. Historically, Hart Foundation.
25. Worst faction?
Oh man. West Texas Rednecks.
26. Best ring gear?
There’s something incredible about Minoru Suzuki’s gear, that simple black with no knee pads. Rick Rude, up there. Owen Hart during his “Slammy Winner” phase.
27. Who do you think would be the nicest in real life?
Kenny Omega, that soft-hearted dork.
28. Who would be the rudest in real life?
Buff Bagwell, without a doubt.
29. Favorite heel?
Minoru Suzuki right now. I used to really love Paul Orndorff after he turned on Hogan (showing my age here). The Dudley Boyz back in ECW, causing riots every other night.
32. Best story line?
Savage-Steamboat always gets remembered for the match, but the build-up was incredible. The Golden Lovers reunion was handled with perfection by NJPW. Raven-Dreamer was the stuff of legend.
42. Favorite finisher?
Jake Roberts’ DDT was it back in the day. Goldberg’s Jackhammer, same thing. That punchiness. Because you have to have the setup, the anticipation for a great finisher to work. Okada’s Rainmaker is my favorite right now. And while Misawa’s Roaring Elbow wasn’t always his finisher, that was always the move I looked for in his matches.

Shawn Michaels: My Journey
Tumblr media
With Wrestlemania approaching in a few weeks (which is in doubt due to a growing global epidemic as of this writing) it is time to dig deep into the wrestling backlog box and pull out a WWE DVD that has been sitting there since 2009 in the form of Shawn Michaels: My Journey (trailer). I have no idea why I neglected this collection for so long since I have always been a Shawn Michaels fan, but can assure I am a fool for waiting this long to view it after wrapping up this three-disc set. Shawn’s previous DVD set, Heartbreak & Triumph, saw Michaels get the standard feature-length documentary in addition to an array of matches spanning his career. They switch things up in My Journey. It is another collection of matches previously unreleased on video, and Shawn does three-to-five minute one-on-one interview spots with Michael Cole setting up each match or where he was at with his character at that point in his career. There are 20 matches spanning from 1985 through 2008, with Shawn providing some insight with Cole before each one. Some highlights are partying hard with the Nasty Boys from their AWA days, winning over respect from Greg Valentine, The British Bulldogs and Demolition after having good outings with them in the ring, the highs and lows of his first WWF Title reign, making sure to step up against Kurt Angle and being a straight shooter about being portrayed as a villain in his infamous rivalry against Hulk Hogan. These are not 10 second soundbites, but evocative memories from Shawn’s career in an intimate studio set that make these interview segments pop more than the average interview snippet from a documentary.
Tumblr media
Shawn also joins Michael Cole to provide alternative commentary for three of the matches in the collection. One is for a house show match against Bret Hart in 1992 early in Shawn’s single run where he reflects on having nothing but respect for Hart at that point in his career and wanting to rise to his level. Shawn also eerily foreshadows how he has Bret’s number and is ready to reconcile with Bret, which he would legitimately do in the ring a few months later in 2010 in one of my favorite in-ring segments ever. Another commentary session is for his match against Ric Flair at Bad Blood 2003 when Flair was at the tail end of still being able to go and the two have a technical classic, and it was fun hearing Shawn on commentary recall Flair being anxious for his first ever table spot in that match. Michaels’ final commentary offering is for his match with Triple H in the 2005 installment of Tribute to the Troops where Shawn fondly shares several stories about encounters with the military from those shows. The 20 matches are almost all winners and offer a diverse mix of styles as Shawn evolved his wrestling over the decades. There are four tag team bouts from Shawn’s Rockers days with a 1989 match against the Brainbusters standing out the most. There are several matches from RAW in the mid-90s where Shawn gets memorable matches from Psycho Sid, British Bulldog and 1-2-3 Kid. I loved they got Shawn’s monstrously heel promo against Hulk Hogan in Montreal where the crowd dumps all over him. The last disc has several epics from Shawn’s last run in WWE like the five star classic against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 21 which unbelievably holds up as good now as it did 15 years ago, an awesome unsanctioned match against Jericho at Unforgiven 2008 putting an exclamation point in their red hot rivalry and saw both men step up to deliver one of the best grudge match brawls that I can recount. The DVD concludes with what Michael Cole hypes up as the best ever WrestleMania match when Shawn squared off against Undertaker at WrestleMania 25. I would give the ever-so-slight nod to his Angle match as Shawn’s better WM match, but this easily has better highs with some legendary near falls that were glorious to relive.
Tumblr media
In the final sit-down interview segment with Cole after the Undertaker match, Shawn hints that he is ready to retire, and is just waiting on the right moment. He would only wait a few months after Shawn Michaels: My Journey released and would have his final full time match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 in 2010. This is a fantastic set from beginning to end. The interview format conducted for this set made them appeal in a special candor and the match selection is excellent for nearly the entire 20 matches. 50 wrasslin questions thing
I decided to do this because it looks fun and can help my writing.
1. What got you into wrestling?
In 5th grade my friends would always talk about it and I didn’t know what they were talking about so I decided to start watching it so I could fit in with them. Undertaker vs Bret Hart at Summerslam 97 is the match that really got me hooked. But of course once I started to get really into it they all started watching UFC so the whole fitting in part didn’t work very well.
2. What is your favorite wrestling promotion?
ECW.
3. Favorite male wrestler of all time?
Gotta go with Undertaker.
4. Favorite female wrestler of all time?
Mickie James.
5. Favorite current male wrestler?
Dean Ambrose.
6. Favorite current female wrestler?
Emma or Su Yung.
7. Favorite theme song?
Either the Hardy Boyz or the WCW Backstage Assault menu music. Literally the only good thing about that game.
8. Least favorite theme song?
Brie Bella.
9. Favorite gimmick?
Taker again.
10. Least favorite gimmick?
Most of the 1993-1996 roster Do we really need a clown? Or a magician? Or whatever the fuck Max Moon was?
11. Best entrance (either their usual entrance or a special one, like a Wrestlemania entrance)?
Chris Jericho doing Goldberg’s entrance or Undertaker at Judgement Day 1998.
12. Best Undertaker Wrestlemania match?
Taker vs HBK @ 25.
13. Most overrated?
Shawn Michaels.
14. Most underrated?
I feel like Raven is slept on sometimes.
15. Have you ever been to an event? If so, which one?
House show. June 7 2015 in Pensacola, FL. I had ringside seats and got to tell Erick Rowan he smells bad. Emma lost 4 times in a row which was really stupid but Roman jumped the rail right beside me which was really awesome. Dean caned Kane. That’s a really weird sentence. Also Roman put Big Show through a table which was  rad as fuck
16. Who has the best merch?
TNA of course.
17. Do you own any merch?
A lot of old Jakks figures, my favorite being the Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart Wrestlemania 12 figures. I also have the 20-0 DVD, Monday Night Wars, a couple VHS tapes from the late 90s and some ECW DVDs.
18. Best nickname?
The Man of 1004 Holds.
19. Worst nickname?
"Lunatic Fringe” is pretty bad. “The Artist Known As Shinsuke Nakamura” is up there too.

Jake Roberts no question.
21. Most annoying?
TJ Perkins.
22. Most attractive male?
Finn Balor.
23. Most attractive female?
Beulah.
24. Favorite faction?
Radicalz.
25. Worst faction?
That boy band from WCW.
26. Best ring gear?
Rey Mysterio at Halloween Havoc
27. Who do you think would be the nicest in real life?
Alexa Bliss

Rob Van DAm
30. Most hardcore?
Terry Funk.
31. A wrestler you could beat?
Emma’ cheeks
32. Best story line?
Raven vs Dreamer.
33. Biggest missed opportunity for a story line?
I’m gonna go with Cactus Jack’s ear falling off just because he says it’s his biggest regret
34. Worst story line?
Wasn’t Booker T vs Edge at Wrestlemania 18 over a shampoo commercial that dind’t actually exist? That would be 2nd. Katie Vick will probably always be the worst one.
35. Which wrestler should turn heel?
Hardy Boyz just so Raw’s tag team division is all heels.
36. Which wrestler should turn face?
Gallows and Anderson.
37. Who would be the worst to room with?
Enzo Amore.
38. Who would be the best to room with?
Big Cass.
39. Who would be your best friend if you were a wrestler?
There is no way I’m cool enough to be friends with a wrestler but I feel like Sami Zayn is very easy to get along with.
40. What would your job be in a wrestling promotion?
The pyro guy who accidentally burned The Undertaker.
41. Favorite wrestling podcast/Youtube channel?

Welcome back to the GWWE match results. This is the last reveal before we get to the top 100, so buckle up as we head into the home stretch. We discovered a glitch causing the Jimmy Snuka vs. Don Muraco IC title cage match to disappear. The Elite Disgruntled's Real World Heavyweight Championship Title History.
How have I been since I finished my intense post (two/three days have passed in that time)? It is almost like I need to put out spoilers. Am I NXT, ROH, NJPW on Axs? Or am I Impact?
Acknowledging my trauma from sexual assault in regards to the wrestling business was therapeutic. I will have probably given the post at least one more proofread, more time to work through it, relive it, regret it. At least the expectations are known...except for  a significant loss of @maineventzombie Twitter followers (80 to 75, guess I am as insincere as those saying my anti-Southern Pride blog claim). As long as Kavanaugh has not made any decisions between now and then, my outlook should not be any more dire.
With that thought, placing our cats in suspended animation when we are not at home to extend their lives should be a technology to explore and to patent. We can use my girlfriend's cat, a cooler and some dry ice to start. Then there will be no more need to inquire my readers about helping me out in finding a way to promote my B-movie pro-wrestling zomcom, Main Event of the Dead, I would be happy to send you a treatment if you e-mail me at [email protected].
Placing a plug there reminds me that Redbox may need my film. "Black Water" with Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren amused me, but was 15 minutes too long to warrant any more coverage a submarine B-movie that was filmed on one sound stage deserves. Sound stage may be too generous. It may have been whatever floor in an office building the production company claims to be their's.
With "Main Event of the Dead," there are no illusions that there will not be a variety of sets. Trying to convince us that the same control room desk is on opposite sides of the sub will not be an issue. But, with the next rewrite, maybe we could set it in a submarine instead of Don's in Donahue or The Eagles Club in Berwyn.
"Black Water" shows me that finding the perfect length for a project is important, so since this is the end of my "Disgruntled's Real World Champion" blog, I worked on a summary of the past four entries' lists to fill up any empty space. Hopefully, my last ditch effort for discussion, will not be like that film.
2014 to Now:
77th World Heavyweight Champion - WWE's Randy Orton (1) - 12/15/13 to 4/6/2014
Since this is Orton's second to last reign as WWE/World Champion, I almost got away with keeping him out of the Real World Champion narrative. Adam Cole had won a tournament to claim the vacant ROH title, but that was just the start of him breaking out on a national level. This is the closest we have been to one champion since Chris Jericho, so I cannot deny who The Ringer's Dave Shoemaker calls, "The measuring stick for a WWE superstar," his place in history.
78th World Heavyweight Champion - WWE's Daniel Bryan (3) - 4/6/14 to 6/9/14
If I think back to 2015, I am sure Bryan had said he was the unbeaten champion upon his return, but if you are that, you need to pull the Shawn Michaels's Intercontinental Championship gimmick and bring your belts with you. Ironically, he would be relegated via ladder match to the IC title upon his brief return.
79th World Heavyweight Champion - ROH's Adam Cole - 6/9/14 to 6/22/14
The WWE spent 20 days vacant, and there was only one champion available. I know Total Nonstop Action has been excluded, but can you sell me on Eric Young over Adam Cole Bay Bay?
80th World Heavyweight Champion - ROH's Michael Elgin - 6/22/14 to 9/6/14
Bobby Lashley might be the better person, but Big Mike is the better all around worker.
For TNA/Impact Marks:
Sorry Dixie. Let it be known, when I originally started working on the list, I was doing my best to take the TNA World Championship into consideration. But, when it was WWE light, their former WWE talent that captured their highest title was reminiscent of Verne Gagne and Vince McMahon Sr. trying to prove the NWA wrong. This also left the WWE presence constantly overshadowing their "home grown" talent. I think AJ Styles was not a fully formed wrestler until he walked away from the company.
Having been involved with the business, the more places to make money the better should be my mindset. But TNA/Impact feels like a drag on the business since they never seem to do anything right. It just drives me nuts to hear people say, "they're really getting better," and then how they shot themselves in the foot. If I wanted trying to get better, I will drive to towns 30 minutes outside of a metropolitan area to catch a no budget, $20 talent indie instead of adding $15 a month on my cable bill. To see that stuff with a large budget bothers me, so Impact bothers me.
81st World Heavyweight Champion - WWE's Brock Lesnar (4) - 9/6/14 to 3/29/2015
You cannot put a chicken farmer, a Briscoe, up against a former Ultimate Fighting Championship Heavyweight Champion.
82nd World Heavyweight Champion - WWE's Seth Rollins (2) - 3/29/15 to 11/4/15
If you are going to cash in Money in the Bank, do it at the one place where no one can deny your cunning.
83rd World Heavyweight Champion - ROH's Jay Lethal - 11/4/15 to 8/19/2016
Jay Lethal was defending two titles at this time and managed to hold ROH's most prestigious title over a year. Roman Reigns's first three title reigns all occurred during this time frame.
84th World Heavyweight Champion - New Japan's Kazuchika Okada - 8/19/16 - 6/9/2018
The title reign was nearly two years. During this reign, the champion defended against the ROH Champion Cody on national TV in the United States. The Universal Title has had only one interesting title reign (Kevin Owens), and it could be said that Okada may have ran AJ Styles back to the United States. Kenny Omega may have helped with that as well.
Current World Heavyweight Champion - New Japan's Kenny Omega.
The list is meant for discussion, so please bring it on. Here is the list of champions (1983 to July 94 [tumblr limits]) along side their pretenders. Enjoy.
Key: NWA Reigns, WWF/WWE, WCW, ECW

13 Years History of Money in the Bank
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The creation of the fight for the Money in The Bank case goes back to 2005, being designed by Chris Jericho and consolidated by Erick Bischoff in the same year. The debut of this fight took place in WrestleMania 21. the inaugural participants were Christian, Kane, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, Edge and Jericho, the match lasted 15:17 minutes, resulting in the winner "The Rated-R Superstar"(Edge). The fight remained in "the showcase of the immortals" for six editions resulting from winners Edge (2005), RVD (2006), Mr. Kennedy (2007), CM Punk (2008 and 2009) and Jack Swagger (2010), the latter was the conclusive winner in the editions held at WrestleMania. After five years of testing, WWE saw great expectations but above all gains turning this magnificent fight into a PPV event. Money in The Bank PPV was held on July 18, 2010, celebrated after just over 100 days since its last edition at WrestleMania. As a private event, thirteen suitcases have been disputed so far, highlighting 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions in which two suitcases were in play, one per brand. On the part of Raw, they were winners: The Miz (2010), Alberto del Rio (2011), John Cena (2012) and Randy Orton (2013). While the blue brand winners were: Kane (2010), Daniel Bryan (2011), Dolph Ziggler (2012) and Damien Sandow (2013). As of the 2014 contest only one briefcase was held, resulting in winners Seth Rollins (2014), Sheamus (2015), Dean Ambrose (2016) and Baron Corbin (2017). It should be noted that in the 2017 edition, the debut of the first ever Women's Money in The Bank was made, resulting in the winner Carmella. Kane is the fighter with more participation in Money in the Bank history (6). The fight that more participants have had is the edition of WrestleMania 26 with ten participants. On the other hand, the least number of participants was the edition of Money in The Bank 2012 (Raw) and Money in The Bank Femenil, with only five. The fastest trade in history was Kane who swapped it on the same night defeating Rey Mysterio and winning the World Heavyweight Championship. Meanwhile, the longest trade was the Edge making it effective 280 days later against John Cena in the New Years Revolution event and become WWE Champion. The longest fight was the edition of the Money in The Bank men's 2017 with 29:50 minutes. On the other hand, the contest held at WrestleMania 22 was the shortest time with a duration of 12:21 minutes. The target of the exchange of the Briefcase was the World Heavyweight Championship managing to change hands six times, five of them consecutively (2007-2010). The failed exchanges have been four times, Mr. Kennedy which lost his briefcase in the Raw of May 7, 2007, against Edge. John Cena in the 1000th episode of Raw, Damien Sandow in the Raw of October 20, 2013, and Baron Corbin in the SmackDown live on August 15, 2017. Finally, Rob Van Dam is the only fighter to exchange the briefcase for a head-to-head chance to emerge victoriously this happening at ECW One Night Stand 2006, beating John Cena and winning the WWE Championship. Royal Rumble 2018 results: Shinsuke Nakamura wins men’s Royal Rumble after epic battle
The 2018 men’s Royal Rumble ended up being the best Rumble match in years, capped off by Shinsuke Nakamura winning and challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.
The match started much earlier on the card than in previous years, with the first-ever women’s Rumble scheduled to go last. Nonetheless, it was an incredible, epic battle, capped off by Nakamura sending the Philadelphia crowd into a frenzy by eliminating Roman Reigns to win.
No. 1 entry: Rusev
Aiden English started things off with his grandiose introduction, getting thunderous “Rusev Day” chants.
No. 2 entry: Finn Balor
The leader of the Balor Club is making his first-ever Rumble appearance here. Rusev nearly dumped him out right from the start, but Finn saved himself.
No. 3 entry: Rhyno
The ECW alum gets a great reception from the hardcore Philly crowd. He dropped Balor with suplexes while the fans exploded in “E-C-W” chants.
No. 4 entry: Baron Corbin
Corbin reversed Rhyno’s Gore into Deep Six and threw him out. Rhyno eliminated. However, Balor got from behind and dumped Corbin in a hurry. Baron Corbin eliminated. Corbin snapped and dragged Balor and Rusev out of the ring, though they’re not eliminated.
No. 5 entry: Heath Slater
Slater never even entered the match as Corbin laid him out on the entrance ramp. He left a trail of bodies on the floor, with nobody in the ring.
No. 6 entry: Elias
The Drifter came out with his guitar and “serenaded” the crowd with his “music” as he walked to the ring.
No. 7 entry: Andrade “Cien” Almas
A surprise entry by the NXT Champion! Almas hit the ring like a house afire and ran wild on Elias, narrowly missing elimination several times.
No. 8 entry: Bray Wyatt
Wyatt beat on Slater, who still hasn’t officially entered the match. Balor recovered and went after Wyatt, potentially reigniting their feud from late 2017.
No. 9 entry: Big E
The first member of The New Day makes his appearance here. Naturally, he fed Slater some pancakes before hitting the ring. E beat on Wyatt before Rusev laid him out with a superkick. The ring is really filling up with bodies now.
No. 10 entry: Tye Dillinger Sami Zayn
Once again, The Perfect Ten enters the Rumble from the No. 10 spot. However, he didn’t make his entrance, instead getting beat down by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens backstage. Zayn ended up taking Dillinger’s place in the Rumble.
No. 11 entry: Sheamus
One half of The Bar, Sheamus got immediately eliminated by Slater, who finally got in the ring. Sheamus eliminated. The celebration didn’t last long before Wyatt threw out Slater. Heath Slater eliminated.

No. 12 entry: Xavier Woods
Woods joins his New Day teammate in the Rumble. They double-teamed Zayn and Elias before going their separate ways, trying to survive this marathon of a match.
No. 13 entry: Apollo Crews
Crews is the first member of Titus Worldwide to enter.
No. 14 entry: Shinsuke Nakamura
The former IWGP and NXT Champion makes his first Rumble appearance this year. Nakamura went wild in the ring while the crowd sung his theme song. Nakamura knocked out Zayn with knees off the top. Sami Zayn eliminated.
No. 15 entry: Cesaro
Another half of The Bar, Cesaro enters here despite having a tag title match later in the night. At least he lasted longer than Sheamus.
No. 16 entry: Kofi Kingston
The entire New Day is now together in the ring. Crews nearly eliminated Cesaro, but the latter forearmed him off the apron. Apollo Crews eliminated.
No. 17 entry: Jinder Mahal
No love lost for the former WWE Champion from the crowd. Woods took a nasty bump to the floor as Jinder threw him out. Xavier Woods eliminated. Mahal took out another New Day member by kicking Big E off the apron. Big E eliminated.
No. 18 entry: Seth Rollins
Rollins enters as one half of the Raw Tag Team Champions. He ran wild with slingblades and dropkicks. He took out Cesaro in the process. Cesaro eliminated. Kingston nearly got eliminated, but he landed one foot on Woods, and Big E placed a pancake on the floor to keep him alive. He got springboarded back in the ring by his teammates and threw out Jinder to much rejoicing. Jinder Mahal eliminated. Of course, it didn’t last long before Almas threw out Kofi. Kofi Kingston eliminated.
1 Solitaire card game app
No. 19 entry: Matt Hardy
Hardy has gone full Broken Matt by this point. Somehow, he and Wyatt both teamed up to eliminate Rusev, to the crowd’s disappointment. Rusev eliminated. They slugged it out and ended up pushing each other over the ropes. Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt eliminated.
No. 20 entry: John Cena
The Face Who Runs the Place got a welcome reception from Philly. He got targeted by everybody left in the ring, but recovered to AA Elias over the top. Elias eliminated. Cena and Nakamura then went at each other for a minute.
No. 21 entry: “The Hurricane” Shane Helms
Another surprise entry, with The Hurricane making his triumphant return! Unfortunately, it didn’t last long before Cena threw him out. Shane Helms eliminated.
No. 22 entry: Aiden English
English is out to presumably avenge his tag partner Rusev, who got eliminated earlier.
No. 23 entry: Adam Cole
ADAM COLE BAY BAY! Cole makes his Rumble debut one night after a hellacious match with Aleister Black in NXT the night before. English got dumped out by Balor in the meantime. Aiden English eliminated.
No. 24 entry: Randy Orton
Last year’s Rumble winner makes his presence felt here, dropping Almas with an RKO and throwing out the NXT Champion. Andrade “Cien” Almas eliminated.
No. 25 entry: Titus O’Neil
O’Neil is now representing Titus Worldwide after Crews got thrown out.
No. 26 entry: The Miz
Miz enters one week after winning the Intercontinental Championship at Raw 25. He dropped Cena with a DDT and then hit the Yes Kicks on both Cena and Rollins.
No. 27 entry: Rey Mysterio
THE BIGGEST SURPRISE ENTRY YET! Mysterio makes his return after four years away from WWE, dropping Cole over the ropes and looking great in the process. Adam Cole eliminated. A 619 on Miz got the crowd nuclear-hot.
No. 28 entry: Roman Reigns
Reigns got the crowd reaction you’d expect in Philly. He did the things most big dogs do in WWE, before running wild on Miz and throwing out Titus. Titus O’Neil eliminated. Miz was nearly eliminated before the Miztourage saved him, but that didn’t last long — Roman and Rollisn teamed up to powerbomb him out. The Miz eliminated. Then Roman threw out his former Shield brother, of course. Seth Rollins eliminated.
No. 29 entry: Goldust
Goldust makes his 12th Rumble appearance here.
No. 30 entry: Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler is back a month after vacating the United States Championship and walking out (in storyline). He hit Cena and Orton with superkicks before dumping out Goldust. Goldust eliminated. Ziggler nearly knocked out Nakamura, but Balor dropped him off the apron with a forearm. Dolph Ziggler eliminated.
Only six men are left in the match now. Orton RKO’d Nakamura, his on-and-off-again tag team partner. Reigns Superman punched and threw out Orton. Randy Orton eliminated. Mysterio hit a 619 on both Reigns and Cena before Balor threw him out. Rey Mysterio eliminated.
The final four are Cena, Reigns, Balor, and Nakamura. After a long stare-down between all four men, they got down to the fighting. Cena and Reigns went after it, clearly not over their feud that led to a match at No Mercy. Balor and Nakamura fought them off and went one-on-one like it’s Wrestle Kingdom.
Just like that, Cena and Reigns got back into the action. Roman dropped Cena with a Samoan Drop and set up the Superman Punch, but Cena reversed it into a side slam. Balor then ran in with a slingblade on everybody, but Nakamura booted him. In the chaos, Cena threw out Balor to crowd boos. Finn Balor eliminated.
It’s down to Cena, Reigns, and Nakamura. The bigger Americans double-teamed Nakamura, but couldn’t resist going after each other again. Cena hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Roman popped up for a Superman Punch. He set up for the spear, but Cena reversed it into an AA. Then Nakamura got Cena on the apron and hit the Kinshasa to knock him off. John Cena eliminated.

Now only Reigns and Nakamura are left. The crowd is melting in favor of Nakamura as both men exchanged strikes. Reigns hit the Superman Punch and tried to throw out Nak, but he saved himself on the apron. He hooked a triangle choke on the ropes, a dangerous spot for Nakamura to be. Reigns lifted him up into a powerbomb, leaving both men laying on the mat.
With their energy spent, Reigns was the first to get up. He tried to spear Nakamura, but walked into a boot. Nakamura went for the Kinshasa, but Reigns speared him mid-flight in an awesome spot. Roman picked him up and went to the ropes, but Nak fought it off and hit the Kinshasa, before throwing Roman over the top. Roman Reigns eliminated.
Shinsuke Nakamura has already accomplished nearly everything a wrestler could in his Hall of Fame career. Now, he can add “Royal Rumble winner” to his storied resume.
