I feel like that one episode of 911 “First Responders” should’ve been titled “Josh Begins” so others feel that way or just me?
I mean the episode really did focus on him being a dispatcher and his origin story on how he became a dispatcher. I feel as though it should fall into the category and should have been called Josh Begins or something.

Look man, you can’t create something like the well scene and not expect them to end up together?? Like what the fuck. That man was ready to claw his way down to the bottom of the earth, no matter what it takes.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again:
It is WILD to me that a lot of us were at the one month mark of being sent to work from home because of the pandemic when Eddie Begins aired.
Tumblr media
Like I was just stuck in my house and supposed to be totally normal about Buck screaming Eddie’s name while clawing at the dirt in addition to Oliver live tweeting saying he’d been super sick filming this?!?!

rated: m | words: 10.4k | read on ao3
summary:
It stared with a visit, which lead to an argument that went unresolved. The next day carried on, both of them continuing to miss opportunities to make things right, until it was too late. One of them was trapped, the other without any way to help. At the end of the day, they had each others back; they would always follow the other, no matter where life took them.

the eddie begins established buddie re-write
————————————————————————
excerpt:
As Eddie was gearing to go in, thunder boomed through the sky, lightning striking less than a mile away now. The commissioner called it, saying it was time to pull the plug on the drill rig; it was all up to Eddie now.
Buck wrapped the harness around Eddie’s body, strapping him in securely, triple checking everything, pulling the straps tightly into place. Their eyes met, Buck unable to keep from whispering his name.
“Eddie.”
It was a plea, but also yearning, Buck not ready to let him go.
Eddie gave a soft sigh, whispering back, “I’ll see you soon.”
It wasn’t enough, but it was something.

For my favorite episode of season 3 it has to be 3x15 Eddie Begins. Eddie is by far my favorite character. Learning more about his story was a treat. And seeing him in danger by himself was scary, but also thrilling at the exact same time. Ryan does an amazing job as Eddie. There is no one else that could play Eddie as well as Ryan does.

They really chose violence when they played Ruelle's
"Carry you" in the scene when Eddie is under water almost giving up.
There is also something to be said about how they matched his memories with the lyrics and his voice over
with "can you lead me to the light" (lyrics) with "the family we chose" (Eddie)
- - > it's one clip of Bobby and every other scene involves Buck and Chris together, not to mention the three of them playing video games together
"you are not alone, I've been here the whole time singing you a song, I will carry you" (lyrics) with "you're not like any other kid, you're my kid" (Eddie)
-- > again it's all scenes of Eddie and Chris and several involving Buck. "I will carry you" plays over the skateboard scene which shows Eddie, Buck, Carla and Chris. And that's the three ppl taking care of Chris. Right after "you're my kid" it's the frame of Chris sliding down the pole at the fire station, so it's Chris, Eddie and Buck again. Cause Chris is Buck's kid as well
Like come on

The last thing Eddie remembered was pressing the tiny, blood smeared photograph of Christopher to his trembling lips while huddled behind rocks, hiding from the insurgent's attack.
The next thing he knew was when he woke up, naked, with a muscular body on top of him.
OR: Eddie has a flash forward when he gets shot during his last tour.
Rating is Explicit. Read on Ao3 here

sometimes I remember that in the eddie begins montage when eddie is trapped in the well what reminded him to keep fighting was overwhelmingly chris but the second most important person is buck.
chris appears 21 separate times in the montage, which makes complete sense as the show is making it obvious he’s the reason eddie keeps going - first during his tour and then when eddie is close to dying on a call - but buck appears 12 times, which is double the amount of bobby (the next person who appears most often)
that just makes me scream that it is canon that the person who matters most to eddie after chris who is his son, is buck. to me that just shows how much eddie loves buck. adding to the fact that after the well incident eddie makes buck chris’ legal guardian in the event of his death not just because he knows buck will always fight for him - the same way eddie does - but also because he loves buck that much and he wants the people he loves most to be together if he dies. they’re in love ur honour and they’re a family and u will pry this ship out of my cold dead hands.
how many times people in eddie’s life appear in the montage just in case anyone is curious:
- chris: 21 times
- buck: 12 times
- bobby: 6 times
- chim: 4 times
- hen: 3 times
- shannon (mother of his child who he was married to): 3 times
anyway just going crazy over here

i'm not in the habit of comparing the begins episodes (mainly because chimney begins would win every time because that is some of the best editing/writing/storytelling/acting i've ever had the pleasure of seeing) but i'm a firm believer that eddie begins is just a better episode than buck begins and not only because i'm biased against the buckley parents, its just one of my favourite comfort (see: emotionally eviscerating) episodes BUT that being said, the one scene in buck begins, you know the one, and the moment you realise its eddie rushing into shot behind buck and easing that burden off his shoulders all by himself for a single frame makes me feel the same dizzying emotions all of eddie begins does, just condensed into those 30 seconds of silent screams and the 118 coming to the rescue
