Dear Princess - Agape Series
Tumblr media
         ACT TWO, SCENE TWO
Song: Can You Hold Me by NF Quote: Bobby wished he knew what was going on in her head, but just like everyone else, he knew he wasn't as strong as Kasey.
A/N: Not read through, or edited. A/N 2: This piece has been in my drafts for a while, so I think it was a little rushed, but it's more of a filler chapter in a way

Dear Princess,
I miss you, but you scared me the last time we saw one another. You scared me. Your eyes scared me because I saw the pain I caused you. You became a ghost, you become something of my own imagination. Kasey, princess, you already were dead before I did anything to you that night, I was just helping to remove all that pain you carried.
But I also helped to just simply get rid of you because you may be too good for me, but that doesn't mean someone else can have you. You're still mine. Always will be mine.
I own you now princess.
You won't know it yet, but I'm apart of you now princess – every thought, every word, everything you do will be because of me – I've broken your little mind and I now control it.
And trust me, whatever I do, won't be pretty.
You'll never going to be able to get rid of me Kasey, I'm always going to be here, always going to be lurking in the shadows, always knowing everything you're doing. But I need you to know that everything I do, everything I've done, is out of love. Kasey I love you and I will never not love you
Love from the guy who will love you the most,
Jordan
Kasey didn't know how long she was sat in her car for, she didn't know even know how long she was staring at that letter for. But she realised she missed Christmas when a message came through her phone, making it ring and vibrate on the seat next to her.
She reaches over, seeing the time was 10am, and below the time was many notifications, but the one on the top was the one that pulled her out from her thoughts.
Owen: Just wanted to tell you that I've finished my last round of immunotherapy and that my blood work and pulmonary function tests looks good. My tumour has been reduced by 73% too. Hope you had an amazing Christmas and hope I see you again soon x
Kasey sniffles, throwing her phone back to the seat and threw her head back onto the pillow, eyes squeezing shut as her hands crumbled up the letter and threw that somewhere in her car. And with a little tired sob, her hands moved to press against her eyes as she tried to mentally prepare herself for work in half an hour.
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
"9-1-1, what's your emergency?"
"Sh-shark! Shark! A man's been attacked by a shark!"
"What beach are you on ma'am?"
"We're not on the beach! We're on the freeway!"
"LAFD. Make room!" Bobby yelled as him and his team walked through the makeshift path that the crowd of people have created.
"What the hell," both Buck and Kasey said, jaw's dropping at the sight of a shark gripping onto a man's arm. A few people were around the shark, trying to tug it off the man, but none of their efforts were doing anything for the man with the shark eating his arm.
"Tiger shark." A woman claimed with struggle. "We were transporting her for release into the wild. Truck jackknifed."
"Jaws!" Bobby yelled.
"Wrong type of shark, Cap." Kasey turned to look at him. "Jaws was a Great-White–" she trails off once she noticed the look of disbelief on her Captain's face. "Oh...right...right...get those Jaws...not –Jaws! Someone get this man some Jaws!" Kasey span on her heel to look at some of the 118 that stood behind her.
"I'm on it!" Eddie calls, running back to the fire truck to grab the piece of equipment the crew needed.
Kasey span around to look at the man who was in agony.
"Hey, at least you'll get a cool scar from this."
"Or no arm." Buck muttered as he made his way round to stand by Kasey's side, who gave him a quick glare.
"Or an arm with a cool scar."
"Are you sure you two are professionals?" The woman asked them through gritted teeth and the two younger firefighter looked down at the ground, lips pursed as they awaited their next instructions.
"How'd his arm get in there?" Chimney questioned, chewing on his gum as he hovered over the shark.
The man grunts and yells in pain. Kasey looks up from the ground and back at the incident at hand. "A really, really cool scar," she mumbles to herself.
"Diego was trying to get what water was left in our pump system. She can't breathe without it!" The man with the 'California Marine Life Centre' jacket told him, directing his eyesight to Diego – the man who had a shark attached to his arm – and Chimney who was just simply watching the sight.
"How much time does she have left?" Hen asked in concern.
"Minutes." The woman told her.
"Uh, do we wait that long or, just, you know..." Buck asked, raising the mechanic jaws up before being pushed back slightly by Bobby.
"No, no, don't kill her! She's come so far!" Diego grunted.
"All right, guys, we're gonna do this really carefully." Bobby told the crew. "All right, come on. Let's get in there."
"Can't we just put her to sleep for a little bit, then gently guide her grip off from Diego?" Kasey questioned Hen who began to shake her head.
"It's too risky." Was all Hen said, and Kasey took a step back to give the rest of her team room to use the Jaws. She felt helpless right now, but there wasn't much else she could do. If she even tried to stand nearer the group that kneeled by the shark, then she would just be in the way and could risk the whole plan.
So, she just stood a few steps back, her thumb and finger were pinching the bottom of her lip as she listened to Diego cries of agony gets mixed in with the sound of the Jaws. And ever so slowly, she watched the bloody arm that belonged to Diego get pulled out. It was covered in numerous bite marks, but Kasey knew that Diego would be happy that the shark and his arm would all be okay eventually.
And within a second of Bobby's next instruction, Kasey watched Chimney and a few others helped to lie Diego down on the stretcher. Kasey stared at the arm with wide eyes, and her fingers began to pinch her bottom lip more, and she wouldn't have cared or even noticed if it began to bleed, because the sight in front of her made her sick to the stomach – she heard incidents of stories of sharks, but she never knew she would see one of those stories right in front of her due to how rare they were – but here she was, watching a man who would rather live with one arm than let a shark die.
"Don't let her die," Diego begs. "Please."
Kasey turns around to face the fire truck, eyes narrowing at the sight where the hose was, and with a shake of her head she rushed off to grab the hose and dragged it all the way to where Bobby stood by the shark.
She wasn't going to let this shark die – Diego didn't want that – he didn't risk his entire arm for nothing.
And on a much softer setting that was similar to the pouring of a bucket, she sprayed the shark, keeping it hydrated with water whilst Bobby watched her. He watched her keep the shark alive, and he knew he had to help the shark in some other way too.
So with another order, a firefighter climbed in front of the steering wheel of the truck, whilst the other members of the team very gently bust speedily placed a harshness round the shark, and at the all clear, Kasey stopped her spraying and was replaced with the blue jacket man with his bucket. She hurriedly put the rope back before jumping into the truck, followed by Buck.
They drove off with the shark harnessed in front of them, and the crowd of people cheering them on the side.
And they drove towards the body of water they needed to be at, lowering the shark down quick into it, and everyone watched as the shark swam out of it harness and out to sea.
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
"Kasey?" Bobby calls as he notices the youngest firefighter sitting on the bed she would sleep in if she ever did a full day shift. Her knees were pulled towards her chest, chin resting on top of it as she just sat in the dark. "Kasey? You're not on a full shift tonight."
"It's better than sleeping in my car again," Kasey mutters, not making one look at Bobby.
"You've been living in your car?" Bobby questioned, slowly making his way towards the girl. "Were you kicked out of your old place? Because if it's a place you needed, you know you're always welcomed–"
"No." Kasey utters, clearing her throat as she shakes her head. Her fingers moved to play with the end of her trousers. "I just can't go back there. I tried to, but every time I do, I end up in the shower, trying to wash off the blood that's not even there. Trying to wash off the feeling of him. I can't remember when I last slept either, cause that night still haunts me, no matter how many times I try to push it out of my mind; the thoughts, the sound, him, Bear...the pain....the smell...the blood... it all so haunts me."
Kasey brings her knees in closer for Bobby to sit down.
"Where is Bear now?"
"With Buck...He thinks I just wants a deeper clean of my house...which I do, but no matter how much I clean it, it still feels like it did on that night."
"Kasey," Bobby reaches forward to rub her knee.
"I'm just so terrified, Bobby. I'm always terrified. I act like I'm fine, but...but I'm scared. He knows everything, a-and that is so fucking scary." She rubs her palm over her eye as she begins to sob, and Bobby reached forwards to bring her into his arms, as if it he was creating a shield to protect her from everything. "Could you just take this pain away? It hurts, so much...help me." Her voice was so weak, so vulnerable.
Bobby was terrified too as he doesn't recall a time he has ever seen Kasey like this – she has always seemed as tough as a wall of bricks, that nothing could hurt her, but here she was, remembering that she was human and began to broke down in a man who she saw as a father.
Kasey was clutching Bobby's shoulder so hard, nails gripping in, palms steadily pushing against the clavicle, and Bobby began to wonder if it was possible for a human to break bones with their bare hands, if it was humanly possible that if they pushed hard enough his bones would snap.
Bobby didn't care though, he didn't care how many bones she may break of his, he didn't mind at all as she was the girl that he thought of as a daughter and she was crying, more like sobbing. She wouldn't stop.
Bobby believed that if she was sat in a hole in the ground then she be overflowing it by now. Her crying was deadly to hear, one of those cries that rips a heart out of one's chest, she cried as if she was in pain, and she was. She's always been in pain, suffering in the silence and this is one of the times where the bottle of emotions spilled within her, unleashing all these emotions she's been hiding from everyone.
It scared Bobby, it scared him as he has never seen Kasey like this, and he had no clue how to help her. But it was the silence that followed that scared him the most, just them two sitting in that room for three hours straight in pure silence. Bobby wished he knew what was going on in her head, but just like everyone else, he knew he wasn't as strong as Kasey.

Eddie: Kicks the 3rd woman he’s dated out of his house because of repressed catholic guilt after avoiding having sex with her.
Buck: absolutely flailing as a baby disaster bisexual and sending his date running for the hills before they even finish their meal.
Chris, “out of town” somewhere, sitting on a curb and smoking a cigarette: Jesus Christ, these two fucking idiots…

AITA for coming out at my sister's wedding?
I (32M) recently realized I'm bisexual and I have my first bf (45M), he's a rescue helicopter pilot (this will be relevant later). I'm out to my sister (41F) and my coworkers, including her husband, who I have worked with for years, but not to my parents or most of the other guests. Everyone has joked that I'm a little too close to my best friend (32M), and we might as well get married, but he's straight and has a gf. They're not relevant to this story, but to give context to how much my sexuality probably shouldn't be a surprise, even if it took me by surprise.
I told my sister and her husband I was bringing a plus one, and they both knew my bf, they were supportive of it because he makes me really happy.
Everything kind of started at the bachelor party. It was just me, my brother-in-law, and my best friend, and we did the usual stuff. We stayed a night in a hotel, went out to get drunk, sang some karaoke at our usual spot. It should have been a super chill night. Until my best friend and I lost the groom??? But it way more stressful than The Hangover makes it look.
He'd been taken by these guys who tried to kill him (no, I don't know why) and we didn't realize he was missing until less than an hour before the wedding. My mom kind of threw a fit about us being late, and then blamed me for losing the groom, which is kind of a normal reaction from her. My dad didn't yell as much but again, this is a normal reaction, I'm kind of the disappointment child. Basically, we had to find my brother-in-law because he still needed to marry my sister.
Before anyone worries: they did get married. He's fine. The hospital says they're discharging him tomorrow to go home. They're gonna reschedule their honeymoon so he's well enough to enjoy it.
Long story short, it turned into a rescue mission, and driving would have taken too long, and my best friend suggested we ask my bf to borrow his helicopter again (long story, but we had to borrow him for something a few months ago, it's how we met!) so I asked him for the favor. My mom asked who he was, since my best friend just used his name, and I told her he's my boyfriend, and she freaked out about it.
When we go to the hospital with my brother-in-law, my parents both yelled at and scolded me for taking attention away from the biggest day of my sister's life by pulling some "stunt" with my bf (to SAVE my brother-in-law from being violently murdered), and I think my dad somehow grounded me?
AITA?

Can you guys imagine they did the whole “i thought i felt homophobic towards my gay roommate but i was actually just in love with him trope” with eddie and buck. Just buck coming out and eddie thinking he’s totally supportive until he sees buck with another guy and gets upset not knowing why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just eddie saying how he will support him no matter what and how that would change nothing between them. buck thinking about how that was NOT what he was going for but appreciate the acceptance at least. cue grumpy eddie once buck finally brings a guy around and being oblivious to why it actually bothers him.

“A toothbrush?” Hen repeats, eyebrows high and tone extremely dubious.
“A toothbrush,” Eddie confirms.
“Your girlfriend broke up with you because of a toothbrush?” Ravi clarifies, he’s not the only one seeking that clarification either, Eddie can tell he beat Chim to the question only because he didn’t have his mouth full.
“Yes,” Eddie confirms (again), sounding a little more disgruntled this time about it.
Chim finally swallows his mouthful to ask, “Is this like a metaphor?”
Eddie shrugs. “I don’t know.” And he doesn’t, that’s the thing. He’s got no damn idea why a toothbrush (of all things) had Marisol breaking things off before they’d even really gotten started.
“I’m going to need more than this,” Hen says. “What kind of toothbrush?”
Exasperated, all Eddie can say is, “I don’t know - a toothbrush.”
“I mean,” Chim says thoughtfully, “did she not like the colour? Were the bristles too hard? Maybe it wasn’t about the toothbrush but the toothpaste on the brush - do you have weird toothpaste taste?”
That earns Chim a confused look from everyone but he just shrugs which Eddie finds fair because he honestly doesn’t know. “I don’t have weird toothpaste,” Eddie defends.
“I like your toothpaste,” Buck announces, dropping down into the chair beside Eddie. “Why are we talking about Eddie’s toothpaste?”
“We’re talking about Eddie’s toothbrush,” Hen clarifies and even as she does, she looks like she can’t believe that’s a sentence she’s found herself saying.
“Eddie’s toothbrush?” Buck repeats, sounding just as confused as when he thought they were talking about toothpaste.
“Not my toothbrush,” Eddie groans. “It wasn’t even mine!”
“Wait,” and this comes from Bobby who looks as though he can’t believe he’s joining in this conversation, “Marisol broke up with you because of Christopher’s toothbrush?”
“Marisol broke up with you?” Buck says, “Sorry man.”
Eddie waves off Buck’s words, he’s not all that broken up about it honestly, just genuinely stuck on how a toothbrush could possibly be reason enough to break up with someone. “No it wasn’t Chris’ toothbrush, Jesus.”
“I’m so confused,” Buck said.
“Me too,” added Ravi.
But Hen, Hen had a look on her face and there was a note in her voice he couldn’t identify as she asked, “Whose toothbrush was it?”
“Buck’s.”
And Eddie has no idea why that is suddenly explanation enough for everyone.
Well except Buck.

Inside Bobby’s office is a man dressed in a suit. He’s standing, looking out the window, and turns when he hears Buck close the door behind them. “Firefighters Buckley and Diaz, I presume.”
“Why is my name always first?” Buck mumbles to Eddie. Eddie nudges him because now is not the time. This looks serious.
“That’s us, what’s going on?” Eddie asks. He glances at Bobby who is sitting in his seat with his arms crossed, a disappointed look on his face. Now Eddie is starting to get seriously worried. Did something happen with Christopher? Or did they do something wrong at a call without realising?
“My name is Jason McKinley,” the man says, holding out his hand to shake theirs. Eddie does, feeling a little numb. He waits for the man– Jason to continue. “We have been made aware that you’ve been keeping your relationship from us.”
Eddie glances at Buck, “You’re seeing someone?”
“I’m not?” Buck sounds just as confused, “You are?”
“No,” Eddie responds. “Not since Marisol.”
“This isn’t a joke,” Bobby speaks up. He almost sounds angry. “Lying to HR, keeping a serious relationship from them, that’s breaking the rules. It’s a serious offense.”
“But we’re not lying about anything?” Buck answers, though it sounds more like a question. “What the hell is going on?”
“You can give up the act,” Jason says, “As of now, you are both under review. We are looking into all the calls of the past several months to determine if you’re fit to work together. However, since you broke the rules, there will be consequences. This will go into your files, promotions will be difficult.”
First snippet of the 'didn't know they were dating' fic I teased yesterday (which blew up, damn). Still trying to decide whether I will keep it for Buddie Week or will post it asap

Buck twirls you around, strong arms circling your waist. Your feet don't touch the ground as he spins you, the skirt of your dress billowing in the breeze. You lean back in his hold, and catch sight of Eddie throwing Christopher up in the air, both of them laughing.
Buck puts you down and grins at you, Cheshire cat smile bright and blinding. You smooth your hands across his chest, flattening out his crisp white dress shirt where you've crinkled it. You tug at his bow tie, straightening it gently. Your gaze meets his, and you beam at him.
"Have I told you how handsome you look tonight, Evan Buckley?" you tease, wrapping your arms around his neck to sway with him. There's a smooth, jazzy melody echoing through the huge backyard, illuminated by golden, twinkling lights.
He quirks a brow at you cheekily before answering.
"I wouldn't mind hearing it again."
"I'm sure you wouldn't," you laugh, shrieking as he dips you backwards quickly.
"Well, you look very handsome. I like you in a tux."
You swear you see him blush slightly, heat creeping across his cheeks. He finds his confidence again, sliding his hands across the exposed skin of your back slowly.
"You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen," he tells you sincerely, eyes never leaving yours. "I should tell you that more often."
"Yes, you should," you tease, grinning at him.
You take notice of his smile, his relaxed shoulders, the way he's swaying with you effortlessly.
"You love weddings, don't you?"
"Hell yeah I do!" he replies delightedly. "Everyone I love all in one place, dancing, music... what more could you want?"
You can't wipe the smile off your face. He's right. The entire 118 is here, together as a family. Everyone is happy, excited to be celebrating Bobby and Athena's vow renewal. It's not often you all get to leave work at work and enjoy yourselves completely. You plan to make the most of every single second.
You feel two warm hands find your hips from behind, instantly leaning back into the broad chest behind you, knowing who it is immediately.
"Hola, Mr Diaz."
"Hola, hermosa."
"You gonna keep her all to yourself all night, Buckley?" he asks, wrapping his arms around you, over the top of where Bucks are already resting. You're sandwiched between the two of them, completely content.
"We were avoiding you and your terrible dance moves," Buck jokes, the three of you swaying together now.
"Are you hearing this?" Eddie asks incredulously, chuckling into your ear. "My terrible dance moves?"
"Don't listen to him, Eds. His ego lies to him."
"It's called confidence! Sorry if I have faith in my dance moves!"
The three of you laugh, bodies and souls tangled and intertwined on the dance floor.
Across the backyard, Chimney and Hen are sat at their table, watching you, Buck and Eddie move to the music, arms wrapped around one another.
"They really love each other, don't they?"
"Oh, yeah," Hen laughs. "Wish they'd all just admit it."
Chimney looks at his best friend in confusion, brows quirked and face crumpled.
"... What?"
"Oh, come on, Chim," Hen chuckles. "It's twenty twenty three. Get with the program."
"You mean, like, love love," Chim confirms, still puzzled.
"Yes, Howie. Love love. In love. The three of them are completely in love."
Chimney processes for a moment, before a light bulb goes off in his head.
"Oh, shit!" he laughs. "They totally are!"
"Damn, men are oblivious. How am I the only one that's noticed?"
"You aren't," Bobby and Athena say in unison, pulling out chairs to sit at the table.
"But we can't rush them. Good things like this take time," Athena offers.
Bobby glances over at the dance floor. You're holding Buck and Eddie's hands, and Chris is too, the four of you dancing and laughing. He smiles for moment, before speaking.
"You know they basically live together?"
When he's met with confused faces, he continues.
"They all crash at Eddie's place with Christopher so often, they've practically moved in. Buck hasn't slept in his own apartment in months."
"I mean, how do you even... navigate something like that? The three of them? It's so complicated," Chimney asks genuinely.
"They'll figure it out," Bobby assures. "They always do."
With that, he rises from his chair and across the yard. He scoops Christopher up into his arms, promising him cake and soda, much to Eddie's dismay. He winks at Buck before carrying Chris away, leaving the three of you alone.
Eddie surprises you by grabbing your hand and then Bucks, pulling you both away from the crowd.
"Come on. I wanna show you something."
He leads you up and into the guest bathroom of the house, rolling his eyes at you and Bucks suggestive comments. He's first to climb out the window and onto the roof, making sure you get through safely in your dress.
The three of you sit and watch your friends in the yard below, quietly reflecting. You're suddenly aware of the way you're sandwiched in between them again, thighs pressed together. You lean left and rest your head on Eddie's shoulder, interlinking your right hand with Bucks.
"How lucky am I?" you breathe. "To be surrounded by so much love."
Eddie rests his head atop of yours, smiling as he watches Buck lean in to rest his on your shoulder. The three of you exhale.
"We're the lucky ones," Buck murmurs. "I never thought I'd have this."
"Well you do," Eddie reassures. "And we're not going anywhere, Buckley."
"He's right, Buck. We're not going anywhere. Ever."
Evan sits up to kiss you on the cheek, before leaning over you and doing the same to Eddie.
The three of you sit on the roof, bodies and souls intertwined, illuminated by the moonlight. How lucky you are, to be surrounded by so much love.

HARD TIMES / EVAN BUCKLEY
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Evan Buckley x Fem!Reader
SUMMARY: Whilst waiting for his appointment, Evan abstains from sexual encounters. Which is a bit hard whilst simultaneously having a crush on the girl from the coffee shop.
WARNINGS: Fluff, sex mentions, teasing, makeouts & sexual depictions
WORDCOUNT: 2.5K Words
A/N: I’m actually in love with this idea 😂 May or may not have made Buck a whiner 👀 As per usual, @megalony for giving me the inspo to finish this off - check out her Buck fic!!
Gif not mine, credits to the owner!
He was cursed, indefinitely.
Getting rescheduled, running out of gas, random remodels galore. It seems as if someone was against him finally making his donation. But the waiting wasn’t the worst part, the no sex rule was major. Why on Earth had he stuck with it? Evan assumed it wouldn’t be too difficult, which it wasn’t.
Until he met you.
It was the fourth day of waiting and he’d changed his usual coffee place ever since they randomly only served skim milk. And he was happy to make the change, since his new place was actually three minutes closer as well as better. Ever since he saw you, he’d found himself ordering more than needed, adding a muffin or two, or ordering for the crew.
Anything that let him stare at you for a little while longer. You were always on time, every morning you showed up, ordered the same thing with the occasional additional treat. A smile on your face and always equipped with a kind compliment.
But Buck surprisingly couldn’t find it in himself to approach you. Whether he was too scared of embarrassing himself or he just liked staring. He found himself second guessing his actions at every turn. It wasn’t until you came in minus a smile that he worked up the courage to interact with you.
You were currently sitting outside, gazing at the oncoming traffic and people going about their day. The cup in your hands taking the brunt end of your restlessness as you tapped your fingers. The hand waving in your face brought you back, “Oh, I’m so sorry. Did you need something?” The man in front of you grinned, “Uh no, not really. I just- well you were…” He pointed out to the traffic before pointing at you again.
“Would you like to sit? Maybe it’d help you get your words together.” You joked as he laughed before pulling his respective chair, “Thanks, I’m Evan. But people call me Buck, whatever works for you.” You reached your hand out, “Y/n, nice to meet you Evan.”
Evan smiled before revealing the brown bag, “I uhm, well you looked like you were a bit down, so I ordered you a pastry. Thought it’d cheer you up.” Your regular pastry sat inside the bag, waiting for you to eat it, “Oh! You really didn’t have to, that’s so nice of you.” He waved his hand, brushing off your words, “It’s nothing really, just enjoy it.” You wanted to ask how he knew, but figured there was no point in it.
And the two of you talked for almost an hour afterwards, slowly getting to know each other better. The pair of you were quick friends to your surprise. And your relationship only grew afterwards, regularly catching up in the mornings over coffee. Which then turned to lunch together during his off day, and then dinner.
You knew it was quick, but you couldn’t help yourself, you really did like Evan. It was unbelievably easy to talk to him, he was such a warm person. And Evan sure as hell liked you. Every day he found it easier to get out of bed, overly eager to get to see your face and hear your voice. God, he could listen to you for hours.
He’d never really clicked so easily with someone, and he was grateful for it. It’d been a while since Taylor, it was refreshing to talk to someone and not just for a night. He found himself checking his phone every few minutes, hoping for a reply from you.
And everyone else noticed.
“What’s got you so happy Buckley?” Chimney asked from the kitchen, pouring a cup of coffee. Hen glanced over to find Buck smiling down at his phone, “Nothing, just looking at photos.” Hen circled back to him, sitting down across from him as she surveyed his body language. You and Evan had been out last night at a movie, and you’d both posed in the cardboard cutouts.
The photo he was looking at had you as a bodybuilder and him in a dress he looked “absolutely stunning in”, according to you.
“It’s like your face is permanently smiling. Please tell me it’s not frozen.” She poked his cheek before he swatted it away, “Can I not just be happy?” Chimney shrugged before settling down next to Hen, “You can be happy, as long as you tell us what, or who, has you feeling this way.” Bobby came towards the trio, Eddie in tow, “Who’s feeling what?” Hen chuckled, “Seems we’ve got a smitten Buckley in the house. We’re trying to figure out who’s making him happy.”
Buck rolled his eyes before getting up, “It’s really not that big of a deal guys, cmon.” Bobby shook his head, “Yes it is, someone’s in love.” The group laughed as Evan shook his head, “Not you too, I thought you were sensible.” He shrugged his shoulders, “I am extremely sensible, and curious. What’s their name?”
“Her names Y/n, and that’s all you get to know for now. Damn vultures.”
“Don’t make me circle back for you Buckley!” Hen shouted out as Evan made his way down, what he didn’t expect was for you to be waiting for him. “Y/n?” You turned swiftly to meet his eye, “Hey Buck, you called me?” His eyebrows furrowed, “It must’ve been an accident, I’m sorry. But you didn’t have to come here.”
He was thoroughly impressed, did a phone call from him warrant a visit? Not that he was complaining. You looked even more gorgeous than usual, and you smelled—
“Yeah but we were supposed to meet for lunch, and you didn’t reply, I only got a call.” His eyes widened in realisation, he’d forgotten your date. Was it a date? Did you think it was a date? Is that why you were wearing a dress? You said you usually only wear them for special occasions or people. Was he a special person?
“I’m so so sorry, it must’ve slipped my mind. We just came back from a run. We can go now for sure.” Your smile spread as he spoke, “Is something funny? Please tell me I don’t have sauce on my face.” Your laughter filled the air, did you know that your eyes creased when you giggled? Your nose also scrunched, god you were cute.
His eyes trailed up to the balcony, where his entire team stood staring before straightening up, “Mhm, the top of the trucks are so pretty. Probably shiny too.” The random topics of conversation were more than enough to alert Evan to the eavesdropping taking place. “Guess you might as well meet those idiots.” You smiled, “Lead the way Firefighter Buckley.”
“Oh! You are brilliant!” Chimney exclaimed as the rest of the group laughed uncontrollably. Buck sat with his arms crossed, “It’s not even that funny!” You couldn’t help but pat his bicep, “Of course you don’t think it is!” You leaned into him as you giggled, practically pushing your chest into his arm.
Don’t look, don’t look, don’t look.
Evan’s eyes were staring right into Eddies soul, as Eddies laughter died down, “You okay?” He mouthed as the man across him from blinked rapidly before nodding. Eddies eyes trailed to you, and your low cut dress before returning to Buck. Oh, oh! Eddie smiled, “That’s a really lovely dress Y/n/n.” Evan’s eyes narrowed, wishing a few horrible accidents upon Eddie.
Murmurs of agreement broke out from everyone else, “It really is, what do you think Buck?” Evan’s lips drew into a tight line, “Oh, yeah. Definitely, they look good in it. I mean— you look amazing. Really good today. Not that you don’t usually, you always look so good. And smell! Not that I smell you, you smell. Good! You smell good.”
You couldn’t help but laugh as he stumbled his way through his monologue, “Good to know Buck, good to know.” You promptly turned to Bobby, “Yknow Evan never shuts up about your cooking, would I ever be so lucky to experience it for myself?”
Buck zoned out of the current conversation, replaying his epic fail in his head. The tightening of his pants had him shifting around uncomfortably, and Eddies grin aimed his way was getting to him.
He was going to kill Eddie.
Dinner that night was probably amongst one of the best dates he’d ever had. And he had asked you before you went out whether or not it was a date, repeatedly. But it was also a test of strength. You’d decided to wear a gorgeous dress, designed to test his patience.
And as if that wasn’t enough, he’d made the stupid mistake of inviting you back to his apartment.
Which, A) Gave the impression that something was going to happen.
B) Maybe made you think that he thought you were the type of girl to put out easily.
And Evan never wanted you to think that.
With a few glasses of wine, sweet music and amazing company you were bound to end up on his bed. Evan’s hands were soft yet controlling, lifting you up onto his lap to straddle him. “God you’re gorgeous.” He murmured into your neck as you giggled, “Is that so?” He smiled up at you as your arms locked around his neck, “Definitely.”
“Then we should settle in for the night, no?”
Evan wanted to curse his own mind for reminding him, maybe he could make the deposit another time, right? He knew it was wrong to think this way, but how could he stop himself from going all the way with you on top of him? “Dammit, I am so sorry. But I can’t.” Your swiftly lifted yourself off his lap, settling down next to him.
“Hey that’s fine, you’re not being forced into anything Buck.” Evan groaned as he leaned in to capture your lips again, “You are so annoyingly understanding. And I love that about you, it’s one of the many things I love. Including this gorgeous lace.” He joked as he traced the strap of your bra. “Oh hush, what’s going on?”
“Promise you won’t freak out?”
“Promise.” You smiled before grabbing his hands, with wide eyes filled with curiosity staring up at him, he couldn’t help but feel the pressure. “An old friend asked me to be a sperm donor, and before making my donation, I thought it best to uh…” You raised an eyebrow as Evan struggled to find the right words, “To keep my swimmers in the tank, if you catch my drift.”
“I catch your drift, or is it a flow?” Evan rolled his eyes as you raised yourself to kiss his cheek, “I fully understand, you don’t have to be sorry. I think what you’re doing is absolutely amazing Evan, helping to start a family? That’s really sweet of you, but it must’ve been a hard decision.”
And that’s what the loved about you. Your willingness to listen, to wait and understand what you were being told. Most girls Buck had been with had never really seen everything about him, nor understood him. With you felt truly seen, and heard. Never judged. And you were breathtakingly beautiful, which was a nice bonus.
“It was.” He watched as you grabbed the hem of his shirt, pulling it over his head, “If i’m half naked, so are you. Now let’s sit and talk, when did you decide to help them out?”
For the rest of the night, the two of you simply laid in bed and cuddled, looking up at each other. Whilst you talked, Evan found his eyes trailing down your body. The two of you were in your underwear, and you your bra. With you practically ontop of him he found an intruder settling in.
“What is that?” You whined from underneath the covers, “Uh, maybe it’s my phone?” Evan rationalised as you stared at him, “Unless I stole someone’s phone and put it on charge, I don’t think it’s a phone.” Evan tried to stop you before you raised the covers, “Oh.”
“Well hello there.” The pillow was swept from underneath you as Evan buried his face in it, “Don’t,” Your laughter made his heart beat faster, and your hand which circled his crotch made him buck his hips upwards. “Oh god, please don’t.”
“Don’t… what?” Evan buried his head into your shoulder as you continued to tease him, it was the funniest thing you’d seen all day. And a helpless Buck was a fun one. “I like hearing you beg.” He slammed the pillow down onto his lap, “Y—you can’t say things like that!” His cheeks were turning red, whether it was embarrassment from his stutter or your hands, you liked it.
“Sure I can, just did. And you want to know something Evan?”
“Not really.”
“Indulge me,”
“Okay.” Evan gave in as you leaned into his ear, “I don’t sleep well with anything on.” You quickly kissed him before unclasping your bra, throwing your undergarments onto the floor and settling back in.
“Goodnight baby.” You smiled before turning off the lamp.
It was going to be a long night. Evan sat in the dark for about an hour before his situation calmed down, if he was sure of one thing? You were going to be the death of Evan Buckley.
It was donation day, finally.
Evan was practically bouncing off the walls after his shift, zooming down to the clinic before another mishap ruined his donation day. And luckily for him, he was given a cylinder and a few magazines before being sent on his way. His fingers drummed against the wheel of his jeep, he was having a good day.
The only thing better? His date with you tonight. What he hadn’t expected was to come home to candles, rose petals and his favourite girl happily sleeping in bed.
“Uhh, Y/n?” You sat up straight away in bed, “Evan! You’re back!” He walked up the stairs before setting his phone and keys down, “Whoa, you look…” You were wearing one of your favourite sets, and a new favourite of Evan’s, it didn’t exactly leave a lot to the imagination.
And he’d seen more than enough of you.
“Oh god, you look so good.”
“Well you’re extremely lucky, this is all for you. Almost five weeks, you did so well Evan.”
“I did well?”
“Yes you did, and you know what?” Evan shook his head rapidly, he was itching to touch you, “I cleared the day tomorrow for you and me, we can stay here as long as you’d like.” Evan felt weak in the knees, “Oh I love you. Now can I please throw you into bed?” You giggled before wrapping your arms around his neck.
“You can do whatever you’d like, Firefighter Buckley.”
“Oh, Firefighter Buckley?” Evan pushed you down to the bed before climbing over you, “Mhm.” His hands lifted your gown slowly, stroking the soft skin, “Now I really want to see you in my coat.”
“Oh? What, with your name on the back? All yours aren’t I?”
“That you are. You’re not gonna be walking for a few days.” Evan teased as he planted kisses along your neck, you raked your hands through his soft hair, “I’m definitely not complaining.”
Hard times have good outcomes, or something like that.

Maybe you should've guessed what it meant when the sea started retreating and a huge wave built up more by the second. But somehow it seemed so surreal that you didn't. You clung to the thought that it was an optical illusion, after all there was no way a tsunami would hit that one time you're at the pier.
Now moments later you regret not running faster, earlier or simply finding a spot to hide. You're pulled under the surface every few seconds, swallowing mouthfuls of salty seawater that makes your nose burn and eyes blur.
You're choking when you're swept against a hard object, it's sharp edge digging into your waist. “Fuck!” you curse, though it ends in a gurgle when more water sweeps over you.
When you resurface you're facing an object that turns out to be a sunken fire truck. The red is striking against the blue and Grey around you and you could cry at relief when you manage to hoist yourself onto it.
You're exhausted, your side hurts and you're dizzy. Your phone is useless, the water having destroyed the technology. Cursing, you pocket it again and lean back. You're about to relax, aware that it could take hours for emergency services to reach you when you hear high pitched screaming. You look up, just in time to see someone with a yellow sweater being pulled towards you with the current, screaming at the top of their lungs.
“Jesus,” you swear and crawl to the edge of the truck, yelling to get their attention with your arm reached out as far as possible.
You almost faint when the person turns around and a small child looks at you, red glasses full of water and messy brown hair. He's crying, reaching out as he's struggling to stay afloat.
“Hey! I'm here, grab my hand!” You yell and lean over the ledge as far as you could. As soon as you saw that little boy you knew you'd jump after him if he couldn't grab your hand now.
“I got you, sweetheart, come on!”
Your assurance seems to help and he kicks his legs, managing to move closer to where you are. In a split second you grab his hand and pull him over the railing and onto the truck, holding the little boy close to your chest in relief.
“Thank you,” he mumbles, coughing a little as he adjusts his glasses. You try to look as calm and collected as possible, gently smiling at him and beckoning him further away from the railing and rushing water.
“Are you okay? Does anything hurt?” He shakes his head, biting his lip as he looks out at the water again. He must've been with someone else, you guess when he sits up at every piece floating by.
“Are you looking for someone?” You ask gently and he nods. He slowly speaks, hands fidgeting in his lap, “B-Buck. He's a firefighter.”
You stop yourself from cooing at this adorable child and nod, “We're gonna find him, okay? Just stay here and it'll be okay.”
He looks worried but slowly nods. You go back to sitting between him and the railing, looking out for anyone else.
Just as you spot someone, the small boy moves rapidly and pulls your shirt, “Buck! It's Buck!” He stutters loudly.
You whip your head back around to the rushing water and try thinking of a way to save him too. You couldn't just grab his hand, he would probably just pull you off the truck and you wouldn't risk leaving the kid by himself.
“Shit,” You mumble as you look for a way to help the man, the boy desperately crying out for ‘Buck’ behind you.
It seems you don't need to do much when something slams into the truck and seconds later the man pulls himself up and next to you.
And, damn. He was attractive. His dark blonde curls stick to his forehead as his blue eyes fixate on you and then the boy, strong arms holding him up as a smile builds on his lips, “Christopher!”
You move a bit as the two reunite, the boy- Christopher throwing his arms around the man's neck and giggling wildly.
You watch with a smile, the adorable sight momentarily distracting you from the tsunami keeping not just you but these two strangers trapped on top of a fire truck.
He turns around after a minute, keeping Christopher in his lap as he looks at you. He clears his throat and nods, “Thank you for saving him.” You shake your head and wave your hand in dismissal, unsure how to deal with compliments.
“No, really. I was going crazy when I couldn't find him,” his eyes are fixed on your face and you blame the heat creeping up your neck onto the temperature changes from the water and sun, smiling nervously. “It's all good. Your son is a sweetheart.”
He chuckles, “He definitely is. Though he's not my son,” he mentions, poking the boy's side when he mumbles something. You quickly nod, embarrassed. “Sorry, I shouldn't have assumed-” he shakes his head and a relaxed smile sets on his face.
“It's fine, don't worry. Did you have any luck reaching 911?” You shake your head and hold up your broken phone, screen flickering sadly as you do. He sighs and brushes a hand through his hair (you try not to stare at the hot sight because wow, what are the odds of meeting such an attractive man in the middle of a tsunami?).
“We're probably just gonna have to wait. It'll take time to get boats and units here. It probably looks like this everywhere,” he explains and you tilt your head in surprise before remembering that the kid had mentioned he's a firefighter. Meaning he knew the protocols.
“Right. Christopher mentioned you're a firefighter.” You smile when the boy perks up, a seemingly never faltering smile on his face. “Guess I'm lucky to be stuck with you. Safest I could be.” You shrug, a bashful smile on your face.
“Buck will s-save us all,” Christopher proclaims proudly and you coo at the cute boy. The man now seems a bit uneasy and sighs before his eyes widen, “Shit, right, I'm Evan. Everyone just calls me Buck, though.” You shake his outstretched hand and introduce yourself in turn, biting your lip as a nervous habit.
“So you're a firefighter?” You prompt curiously.
“It's a bit complicated right now…” He sighs, a frown setting on his forehead. You're about to apologize for overstepping when Christopher speaks up again, “He threw up blood.”
Your eyes widen and Evan- Buck pinches the boys’ side in reprimand. “Blood clots,” he elaborates as he looks at your slightly shocked expression. You hum sympathetically before realizing something. “Wait. You were the one trapped under that fire truck? On the news?”
He chuckles (which makes him even more attractive, what the actual fuck?) and nods, “Yep, that's me.”
You grimace in sympathy at the memory and automatically glance at his leg, “Is it all healed? You don't have to talk about it, it's fine if you don't-” he waves you off assuringly, looking relaxed.
“It's fine, don't worry. Yeah it healed fine, had some physical therapy and stuff but now I have blood clots kicking my a- butt.” He stops himself from cursing with Christopher on his lap and you almost smile at the adorable expression of confusion on the kid's face, when Buck presses his hands over both of his ears and whispers what he was originally going to say.
You laugh at the two and a relaxed and almost light atmosphere surrounds the three of you, momentarily disregarding your situation.
“It's kind of ironic isn't it?” He starts and you tilt your head in question. “You saved me, a firefighter, by pulling me onto a fire truck,” he elaborates and you can't help but chuckle, “Right. It should've been the other way around,” you sarcastically add and he holds up his hands in mock surrender.
You relax back against the railing, your eyes drawn to Buck again just to notice him already looking at you. You cock your head questioningly and he bites his lip before grinning, “Sorry, you're just- like, really beautiful.”
Your jaw drops momentarily before you compose yourself and hide behind your hands, “Stop! Geez,” you laugh and he does as well. You exaggerate a shake of your head as you look at Christopher who giggles happily and exclaims, “He likes you!”
Now both you and Buck fluster as he continues, “He's always angry but n-now he's happy.” You notice the small struggle of getting his words out but you couldn't care less, you'd wait hours for this sweetheart to finish a sentence if you had to.
“Oh, really?” You ask in mock surprise and he eagerly nods before Buck intervenes, “Woah, Woah. I'm not always angry. Just.. grumpy.” Christopher makes it a point to look at him and then at you, rolling his eyes and shaking his head which makes it hard to refrain from laughing.
When Christopher busies himself with leaves floating around them Buck lowers his voice a bit as he speaks to you again, “Don't get the wrong impression it’s just, it’s hard. Not being able to work, saving people and all that.”
You nod quickly, “No worries. I’d go insane if I was in your place. I’m guessing they’re keeping you from really doing anything ‘dangerous’?” You ask, careful in case of him wanting to change the subject.
He nods and drops his head back against a siren light, “It is. They’re trying to put me behind a desk! I mean, I’m supposed to be out here, saving lives, fighting fires. That’s my purpose.” He frowns and you hum to show that you’re listening.
“I know they just want me to recover, but…”
“It feels like they’re holding you back?” You finish for him. He chuckles in surprise at the accuracy of what you said and nods.
“I’m probably in no place to tell you this, but trust me, it’s worth it. Get better, do the light work and sooner than you think you’ll be back doing what you love. But if you start now and ignore your health.. it’s going to catch up with you. And it’ll be way worse than a few weeks behind a desk.”
He looks thoughtful for a moment before slowly nodding, “You're right. Thank you.” You smile and put a hand on his leg, making sure he doesn’t mind before adding, “I mean look at you, crushed by an entire ladder truck and you’re up and running already.”
“I’m just that great,” he sarcastically pats his own shoulder and you both break into laughter.
-
You don't know if it's been minutes, seconds or hours when you wake up, laying on top of destroyed concession stands and other things. Something is digging into your back, your leg is awkwardly bent and your ears are ringing.
Groaning you sit up, wincing in pain when a sharp pain strikes through your back at the movement.
Around you is just more trash and destroyed cars, you see an arm laying on one of the cars and decide to avert your eyes as quick as possible for your own sake.
Every step hurts but you keep going; walking through the flooded streets with your eyes looking for either of the two boys you’d spent earlier with or other survivors.
The sun is starting to set and you’re starting to get hopeless. You have no clue where you were, completely disoriented as you pass houses that look entirely the same. Your phone is useless and you’re alone. Shouldn’t you have met at least one person by now?
Your back has gone practically numb, same as your leg, when you see faraway lights in the distance. Your steps get quicker as you see people and to your utter relief firefighters. You don’t know if the tears in your eyes are of joy or utter despair from what happened but you couldn’t care less when a man with short, brown hair spots you and approaches.
You’re trying to walk closer when a small voice somewhere close stops you. You’re not sure if it’s your imagination but you turn around, squinting your eyes in the darkness. And then you see it. A small boy, waddling your way with his arms stretched out like he couldn’t see.
Could it be..?
“Christopher?” You see his head perk up and he tries going faster, stumbling over his own feet. Your heart drops in relief and you gather your last strength to run to him, “Hey, you remember me right?” He nods and you note the missing glasses.
“There’s help, come on,” you point out but he doesn’t look happy. He looks almost angry, “Buck.” You had almost forgotten about the charming firefighter. But your priority right now was Christopher.
“We’re gonna find him. Let’s get you help first,” you say with fake enthusiasm in your voice. He doesn’t look okay with that but stays silent and you awkwardly wrap your arms around him after making sure he’s okay and lift him into your arms.
It’s hard to avoid any obstacles while walking but you manage, seeing the brown haired man from a few minutes ago still there.
“Hey! I need help! It’s a kid!” You yell.
He waves you over while walking towards you and as soon as you can actually see him you’re once again surprised. What was it with these firefighters and their good looks? Jesus.
When he’s close enough you nudge Christopher, “There’s help, he’s gonna make sure you’re okay,” you nod at the man and he stands still before running the last feet over to you, basically ripping the child from you.
“Chris!” He cries, clutching the kid with all his might. Oh, this must be his father.
You smile, relieved that they found each other. He looks up at you with gratitude, “Thank you so much. Thank you.” You just smile.
“He’s found us himself. I couldn’t find him after..” you don’t even know what happened- you just know you passed out and woke up alone. Sighing you rub your temples and shake your head.
“You should get checked out, too. You’re barely walking,” the medic (you guess) advises. You take in the people behind him, the full cots and stressed professionals. “I’m okay. There’s people that need more help,” you nod.
He frowns and shakes his head, “I could tell you at least two injuries of yours that need treatment. Come on.” He nods his head in the direction of one of the tents and you chuckle but follow him. At least you try to. Four more steps and your legs give out, you clutch a random person's arm to prevent your fall, mumbling a sorry when they just barely catch you.
The ringing in your ears is back and you groan when you’re laid on one of the cots, your back protesting painfully.
Your vision is blurry and you can’t understand what’s being said - what the hell was happening to you?
-
“Wait, she’s- she was with me and Chris.” Eddie looks up in confusion as he hooks you up to an IV, checking your pupils with a small torch. “What?”
Buck nods, “Yeah, she saved Chris and then me. When the last wave happened she was swept away- we were all swept away.”
Eddies brows furrow and she looks down at you, your hair a damp mess, clothes dirty and bloody. “She saved Chris?” His best friend nods and crouches down next to you - Eddie notes the pained groan he tries to conceal as he does so - extending a hand and awkwardly patting your shoulder.
“Will she be okay?”
Eddie's answer is interrupted when you open your eyes and wince at the lights surrounding the tent.
“Hey, you feeling okay?” Buck asks before Eddie can get a word out, and you almost faint again seeing these two fine men looking down at you with concern. Great first impression, you think.
“Feel like I was in a tsunami,” you grunt and both of them laugh a bit. A third voice pops up next to you, “We were in one, silly.” Leaning over your head and looking upside down at you was Christopher, a smile on his face.
You huff a laugh and hum, “You’re right. Smart boy.”
Eddie looks at Buck at the exchange and he just shrugs with a grin. Chris walks to Eddie and leans into his side, eyes still on you.
“Is there something on my face, or..?” You ask half joking as three pairs of eyes stay trained on you.
“Just beauty,” Buck grins and there’s a second of silence before Eddie gags and rolls his eyes, “That’s so creepy, díos.” You laugh as Buck tries defending himself, simply looking just as cute to you as earlier.

if i bleed, you'll be the last to know
buck/eddie | teen and up | 6.1k words
His thumb shakes and it takes him a couple of tries before he finally answers the call, just as its about to send Eddie to voicemail. “Hey, man. What's up?” Buck tries to make his voice sound calmed and unbothered, casual— and he thinks he mostly succeeds if the paramedics' annoyed and unamused stares are anything to go by. “Hey, Buck. Are you busy right now?” Eddie's voice sounds strained and has an edge to it, that immediately has Buck frowning with worry and concern. “Uh,” Buck looks down at his exposed abdomen where blood is still, even if slow and thin, gushing out of his wound. The skin around it looking red and… not good at all. “Nah, man. I'm not doing anything."
or; buck gets stabbed while out on a run and then... doesn't tell anyone about it. eddie loses his shit when he finds out, they have a moment in the kitchen and they kiss.... not necessarily in that order.

"9-1-1, what's your emergency?"
"I'm at 1832 Bryson Avenue. I have an adult male with multiple stab wounds to his torso! Need medical and police response!"
"Okay, sir, can I get your name?"
"Evan Buckley. I'm a firefighter with the 118."
"Buck?"
"Yeah, uh, victim is Howard Han. He's got profuse bleeding to his abdomen. Breathing is laboured. Might have hit a lung." "Come on, Chim. Hang in there."
"Buck, RA unit's two minutes out. Do you know how this happened? How long has he been down?"
"I don't know. I just got home and found him. Given the amount of blood, I would say minutes, not hours."
"How's his pulse?"
"Weak, but it's there."
"Jason."
"H-Hold on, he's, uh, he's talking." "Chim, it's me. It's Buck. I'm here, okay? I just need you to stay with me, Chimney."
"Jason took her..."
"Chimney, who's Jason?"
"Maddie..."
"Where is Maddie? Chimney, where is Maddie? Chimney, where is Maddie? Wh-Where is Maddie?"
"We got it, sir."
"Maddie! Maddie!"
Buck runs towards the house, "Maddie." His hands were shaking, and he screamed his sister's name out of desperation, hoping that when he entered the house he would hear the voice of his confused older sister.
But no voice welcomed him back when he entered the house.
"Maddie!" He runs up the stairs with such little hope that maybe she was fast asleep, and his voice wasn't loud enough to wake her from her deep slumber. "Where are you?! Maddie! Maddie, are you in here?"
Still nothing.
Nothing but the sound of barks.
The same barks that haunted the apartment of the night where he thought he was going to lose Kasey. It was all the same sounds, the sound of barks, the sound of paws scratching – it was all too similar.
Buck rushes towards the door where the scratching was coming from, and out came running Bear who had a fierce look upon his face, softening slightly when it notices the panic that was coming off from Buck. The dog ran towards Buck, jumping up on his hind legs and leaned himself against Buck, who patted the top of Bear's head whilst his eyes furiously glanced round the room for a glimpse of Maddie.
"Where's Maddie, Bear?" Buck asked and from the question Bear ran down the stairs, Buck following behind as he calls for his sister's name. But when he reached the area he has already been in before, he stops behind the dog that stopped too who whined softly as he lays down.
Buck brings his phone to his ear.
"She's, uh...she's not here. She's gone." Buck turns around as he spots something. "Oh no."
"Buck? What is it, Buck?"
Buck picks up the phone from the ground.
"Did you find something?"
"All of her stuff is still here."
"All units responding to 1832 Bryson, be advised we also have a critical missing adult female: Maddie Buckley Kendall."
"He found her."
"Buck?" A voice uttered, and the man in questions spins and his heart falls into his stomach whilst his eyes welled up before he took off running towards the one who called his name.
Towards Kasey.
Buck felt weak when he felt his best friend's arm wrap round him. He felt even more weak when he buried his face into her neck and cried out his sister's disappearance. Kasey said nothing though as she just runs her hand up and down his back.
"I know, I know," she finally says. Her eyes made contact with one of the detectives. "And I promise I'll help you in any way possible," her voice trails off as she gently pulls away from him, and she offers him a look of sympathy whilst she wipes away a tear that fell. "But the detective needs some words with you."
"I don't want to speak to them," Buck shakes his head in defence. "I just want Maddie back."
"We'll find her, I promise, but you need to talk to them before we can do anything."
Buck purses his lip whilst his span on his heel, and before the detective could even speak, Buck already was.
"It was Doug. Doug Kendall."
Kasey's eyes widened behind Buck as she stood next to Buck with Athena and Bobby – the two people who she came here with due to her having spent the night – well spending – the night round there's. Of course Kasey knew who Doug was, Buck told her about his childhood and how evil the guy is and how it kept the two siblings apart.
"He told Maddie he would kill her if she left him. He did this."
The detective opens his notebook.
"You said he lives in Pennsylvania. He knows she was here?"
"No, she-she..."
"She was filing for a divorce," Athena interrupted. "That could have put her back on his radar."
"Well, we'll take a look at him, but before your friend lost consciousness, he said he was attacked by a Jason Bailey. Either of you know who that is?"
Buck looks at Bobby.
Bobby shakes his head, "I don't think so."
Kasey folded her arms as she shifted on her feet whilst looking at down whilst she thought. "Maybe it was Doug."
"Pardon," the detective blinked.
Kasey looks up and half shrugs. "Perhaps it was Doug with a different name. Perhaps he used the name Jason to get close to someone who's close with Maddie and easy to find alone, and Chimney just happens to be the perfect victim for Doug to use to get close to Maddie."
"That's quite a reach."
"But it's a possibility and it's a possibility that makes sense."
The detective shakes his head before entering the house. Buck looks to his right, raising his brows at his best friend as he looked at with eyes that asked her if she was sure on her theory.
Kasey gives a small nod and Buck looks away before he began to follow behind the detective with the other three on his tail
"Wait, uh...Wait. Hold on, Detective." Buck tried to grab his attention again as he thought of something that could back his best friend's theory. "I know he had a new friend, some guy he was, he was playing pool with. I never met him, but now I know why, you know, 'cause it was Doug. Like Kas said, he got close to Chimney so that he could get close to Maddie." They walked out of the house and Buck lets out a frustrated sigh. "You don't believe me? You don't believe Kasey? You don't believe us?" Buck tired as he threw his hand out in desperation. "I mean, I mean, Chimney's phone is right there. You know, ch-check for yourself."
Buck moves in front as he tried to reach towards the phone.
"Phone's locked." The detective grumbled. "Can't open it without the victim's consent."
"So," Kasey whistled behind the detective before she took a step forwards to stand next to him. "You're telling me that you wouldn't hack into the phone or some shit for the possibility that we're right? You wouldn't unlock a phone that could hold all the proof of who the kidnapper and attempted killer was?"
"You were a detective once, Kasey. You know the protocols."
"Which I call bullshit on," Kasey snapped. Athena grabbed her arm to pull Kasey back slightly from the detective. "No wonder there's so many cases unsolved. It's because the government isn't allowing you – allowing us – to have more power to save people. Maybe if they did, then more people would be alive." Kasey's jaw stiffened as she looked away.
"They'll subpoena his phone records, but it'll take time."
"Well, Maddie doesn't have time, okay?!" Buck cried. "Kas, do you still have your detective badge? If so, then lets go get it and get Maddie back our–"
"I had to hand it in when I took my leave from the military, Buck." Kasey watched as Buck's face fell more, and Kasey wished she could just magically make Maddie appear again – but she couldn't. "But I thought we were going to find her ourselves anyways – even if we do it the illegal way."
Athena gave Kasey a look whilst the Detective cleared his throat.
"I mean," Kasey blows out some air as she gave a light laugh, "of course we were planning to find Maddie legally."
"You mean you'll let us find her ourselves." The Detective corrected and Kasey looked around at all the eyes on her.
"Sure," she dragged the word out before giving Buck a swift wink.
Whilst Buck screamed some more words at the group, Kasey took a quick look at the crime scene once again, not noticing that Bobby moved towards Buck to calm him down. And her eyes continued to move around the area until she was snapped out of her thought by the sound of Buck's weak and quiet voice.
"How did you know I was going to go out and find Maddie."
She snapped her head to look at him and she gave him a kind-of-there smile.
"Because you're my boy Buck. I know what you're thinking." She tilts her head as she brought her lips into a fine line. "I don't have to come with if you don't–"
"Please," Buck sighs a breath of slight relief, "I need you there."
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
Buck and Kasey leaned against the archway of a blue painted door as they awaited for all the doctors and nurses to leave Chimney's area.
"This could be one of the stupidest ideas we've ever had." Kasey mutters to Buck.
"It's the only way we can find Maddie."
"I know," Kasey breaths, "but it's still one of our most stupidest plans."
"I don't think that's a word, or even grammatically right."
"Do you want to give me an English lesson right now or do you want to find–"
"Come on," Buck grabbed her elbow and ushered her to walk in front of him. When they reached Chimney's bed, Kasey stayed standing at the end of it, awkwardly swaying side to side as she awaited for Buck to open up Chimney's phone so they could get out this place.
Buck held the phone out in one of his hands as he looked at Chimney with a sympathetic look. "Sorry about this, buddy." Buck sighs as he gets closer to Chimney's hand.
"You two aren't supposed to be in here," a nurse scolded, coming out from no where and nearly scaring Kasey who instantly began to fake sob.
"Please don't let him die!" Kasey begged.
"Oh, oh, God, please don't let him die." Buck continued, following Kasey's lead as he laid his cheek down onto Chimney's chest.
"Please, sir."
"I can't lose my dad!" Kasey cried as she raised her hands to her face to cover it.
"You have to go back to the lobby."
"You can't, you can't die on me." Buck said to Chimney whilst he secretly placed Chimney's thumb onto the fingerprint scanner of the phone.
"Sir, you need to leave. No."
"He's so young! He can't die!"
"You can't, please..."
"What am I supposed to tell your other 27 adopted kids, dad?"
"Sir, you and your friend have to go."
Buck held his hands in surrender, and Kasey mimicked his actions as she side stepped away.
"Okay, we're going, we're going," Buck assured the nurse before proudly showing off the unlocked phone to Kasey the second he stood net to him.
"You know," a familiar voice that the two firefighters thought they left back at the crime scene said, "Detective Marks didn't believe me." Kasey and Buck turned their heads to look at Athena with slightly open mouths. And behind Athena stood two other officers. "He said 'no one could be that stupid.'" She placed a hand on her hips, looking at the two like a mother has just caught her kids eating sweets before dinner. "I said, 'you don't know Buck and Kas.'"
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
Kasey and Buck was separated after that. One officer took Kasey to a different room, whilst the other officer took Buck to a different room too. In Kasey's room was just her and the officer, whilst with Buck he had an officer, Bobby, Athena, and Eddie.
"If I win a game of rock, paper, scissors, will you let me go?" She batted her lashes at the officer. Her head was leaning back onto the white wall behind her, and her eyes were focused on the officer who shook his head at her. "You're no fun."
"Strand's dog is outside with an officer." A voice said over the officer's radio and Kasey instantly looked up with a cheeky smile.
"Can I please see my dog?" Kasey begged. "I need fresh air anyways. Hospitals make me queasy." The officer opened the door, nodding his head back to gesture she can go, and Kasey jumped up and threw her arms in the air.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" And she didn't wait a second longer before she rushed out of the corridor and made her to the area that she heard Buck was in. But instead of seeing Buck, she saw Eddie instead.
"Eddie?" Kasey questioned as she walked through the door.
"Aren't you meant to be...not here?" Eddie asked, standing up as he watched her still figure stand in front of the closed door she just walked through.
"I got away, thanks to Bear." Kasey's eyes wondered round the hallway. "Now, I just got to find Buck so we can go out and get Maddie back. Oh, I also have to break Doug's nose because he's hurting one of the nicest people to ever walk this–"
Eddie's eyes softened sadly as he watched Kasey begin to panic. She was hiding it away good, but not good enough for Eddie not to see it. Kasey knew how dangerous this all was for Maddie as she was the one that got away from her abuser and getting away is when it's the most dangerous.
Eddie came up to her and placed his hands on her cheeks to bring her in close and lay a kiss upon her forehead, something he has never done before, but it felt so normal between the pair. And his lips lingered there for a while, even when he pulled away slightly, Kasey could still feel the slight touch of his lips upon her forehead.
And her eyes were closed to breath in the moment – to remember it – and in her head she silently begs for him to kiss her there again – but he never does.
He pulls away and she opens her eyes to listen to his soft words of, "it will all be okay," and she watches him take a step back, and that was when that little voice in her head began to scream at him to come back.
To touch her again.
To come back and place his hands on the sides of her cheeks. To come back and pull her in close. To come back and kiss her forehead...
Kasey has never had this feeling before. The feeling of want – the need of somebody's touch. But here she was, craving the feeling of Eddie's touch. Her body began to crave it like it craves air, and it confuses Kasey because why would she crave one of her best friend's touch?
She never craves Buck's touch.
So why was she craving Eddie's?
Kasey nods slightly as she takes a quick look at Eddie before turning around to walk down the corridor, walking round the corner and spotted Buck who was waiting for her.
If it was anyone else, Buck wouldn't have waited, but he needed Kasey there whilst looking for Maddie, because if Kasey wasn't going be there, Buck knew he would just simply break down.
And breaking down wasn't going to save Maddie.
So, he awaited for the one person who could keep him stable whilst looking for his sister and her crazy ex-husband.
"You ready?" He asks, which was answered by a nod from Kasey, who stood by his side as they walked further down the corridor towards the exit.
"Let's take Bear," Kasey sys to Buck. "He's trained in this sort of thing, and I'm sure you've–"
Buck pulls out a beanie – Maddie's beanie – from the back pockets of his trousers as he gives her a small smile and raised brows, telling her that he was already one step ahead of her.
"Oh," Buck bumps Kasey's shoulder, "Athena is waiting for us out front, and Bobby gave us some 'ground rules.'"
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
"I don't know how we can help, Sergeant, but whatever you need" Sue says as the four of them exited from the elevator. Bear was in the car, a window down, as he awaited for everyone to come back in a few minutes.
"Athena, please," she corrected. "I'm off duty."
Sue chuckles. "This is Josh." She gestures her hand towards a man in a blue tucked in 9-1-1 shirt. He raised from his seat in a hurry as he stood in front of the group. "Athena." Josh shakes her hand. "You already know Kasey," Sue places her hand on the young firefighter's shoulder, tapping it lightly in comfort. "And Buck, Maddie's brother."
Buck shook the 9-1-1 operator's hand, "Maddie's told me a lot about you."
"Same here," Josh breathes. "Any word on her?"
"Well," Athena begins, "the police don't have much to go on yet. So, neither one of us are good at sitting around and waiting, so I thought I'd come by and ask you some questions, unofficially."
"Well," Kasey drags out. "Usually these type of people would take the other to a place that had meaning between them," Kasey looked at Buck who shook his head, telling her he wouldn't know what that place would be. "But we have no clear where that be," Kasey's hands brushed against the side of her legs as she gave Josh an awkward smile. "So, yeah, we're still on square one."
"So the questions," Athena turned away from looking at Kasey and back at Josh. "When people dial 911, you can see where they're calling from, right?"
"If they're calling from a landline, absolutely. Cell phones are trickier. We don't get an automatic address."
"Our systems have to digitally request the phones location from the cellular network," Sue comments from behind Kasey.
"Okay, well, this is Chimney's phone." Athena holds up the unlocked phone. "We think he was in contact with his attacker."
"Maddie's husband."
"uh, Chimney didn't know it was him; he-he thought his name was Jason." Buck said protectively.
"Now, I'm wondering, hypothetically, if this number called 911 and hung up, is your system able to request location data after the call was disconnected." Athena asks.
"Hypothetically," Sue removes her hand from Kasey's shoulder and moves to stand next to Josh, arms folding as she says, "sure. But we'd–"
"Of course, we could." Josh interrupts, taking the phone out from Athena's hand with a smile. "You know, it's funny, this number seems familiar, and in fact, I think I might have taken a call from it earlier." Josh looks at Sue. "An emergency call." He confirms before sitting down at his desk.
"Sure," Sue says. "Josh, are you sure?" Sue's arms were no longer folded, but now was at her sides as she looked at her employee with a look of certainty.
"I'm sure."
Sue nods. "Okay. Let's make a manual request."
Josh spins his chair forward and places his fingers onto the keyboard in front of him.
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
"Detective Marks," a male voice said over the phone.
"Andy, it's Athena," Athena greeted when he picked up. Her phone was connected to her car radio system as she was sitting in the drivers seat. Buck was in the passenger trying to keep his cool. And Kasey and Bear were sitting at the back, him on her lap whilst she petted and gave him loads of attention. "Listen, you're gonna get a call from Sue Blevins at 911 dispatch. She might have a lead on Doug's location."
"Do I wanna know how she obtained this very important information?"
"Let's just call it an anonymous tip and not look any gift horses in the mouth." Kasey's face scrunched up at the saying. "We'll meet you there."
"Copy that."
The phone beeps.
"You're awfully quiet over there, Buckaroo." Noted Athena.
Buck scratches the side of his head. "Uh, when we get there...what-what do you think we're gonna find?" Buck couldn't lie that he was scared for his sister. But he was also scared to think that this be another Kasey situation. That he would turn up to find someone he loves nearly dying, surrounded by blood, and he would stand to the side helplessly watching them continue to fight to survive.
He couldn't go through that again.
He just couldn't.
He needs Maddie to be alright and unharmed.
"I mean," Buck half shrugs, "he-he threated to kill her, you know, a-almost did kill Chimney. What if, what if he..."
"No," Athena raises her index finger to get Buck to stop thinking of such a thing. Athena then took a quick look in her rear-view mirror to get a glance at Kasey who just kept her eyes on Bear. Athena sighs before taking another look at Buck. "My gut is telling me not to count your sister out just yet. Maddie didn't just rebuild her life. She rebuilt herself. Doug may have her, but I don't think he has any idea who he's dealing with now."
They soon came to a stop behind a truck and all of them climbed out the car as they made their way towards the truck driver.
"It's not my phone," the driver stresses with a shake of his head. "I don't know where it came from."
Detective Marks turns around at the sound of footsteps to see Athena, Buck, Kasey, and Bear. "Found the phone," he alerts them, waving the object in the air to show them before taking some steps forwards to stand closer to them. "No sign of our suspect or your sister."
"Yeah," Buck gestures towards the driver with his hand, "but he had Doug's phone. How?"
"Well," the Detective turns his head over his shoulder to give a quick glance at the driver. "Driver left Salt Lake City yesterday. Been on the road ever since. Says he's got no clue how the phone ended up his truck."
"Sir," Athena walks towards the driver. "Made any stops?"
"Gas station, just before sunrise."
"Doug was there, threw his phone into the truck, so we can track him." Kasey mutters to Buck.
"See anybody else there?" Questioned Athena.
"When I was leaving, saw a couple going into a store." Buck and Kasey gave each other a knowing look before Athena turned to face them with her lips pressed together in a thin line.
"He knew we could use the phone to track him," she says, and Kasey and Buck shared another look between one another due to it being the same thing Kasey just told him. "Probably dropped it in the truck just to throw us off."
Kasey raised her brows at the side of Buck's face as he now turned to face Athena.
"So they could be anywhere by now," Buck runs a hand down his face.
"Yeah. And Doug's way ahead of us."
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
"I don't think I brought enough." Shannon tells Eddie after she eyed a pizza crust being dropped into the empty pizza box. Eddie's eyes didn't falter away from watching Christopher play.
"No, you brought everything I needed." Eddie responds as he continues to watch his son. His hand rubs his tired face as he sighs. "Missed the whole day with him."
"I know. That's why we came." She smiles. "Well, that and I remember what it was like to live at the hospital. Uncomfortable chairs, terrible food."
"You don't have to say," Eddie suddenly says, discretely shuffling away to create some form of distance between him and Shannon. "I-I mean," he quickly says when he notices the confusion on Shannon's face. "If you have stuff to do..."
"No," she says, reaching over to hold his hand. "I'm good here."
Eddie looks at her hand touching his, before looking at her. And a feeling of sadness washed over Eddie because the hand that was touching him wasn't the hand he wanted to hold.
Nevertheless, he gives Shannon a fake thankful smile, before looking to his other side where he purses his lips in thought and let out a quiet sigh.
And Eddie now knew that he no longer loved Shannon like he once did years before.
This moment right here confirmed that for sure.
He has fallen.
He has fallen hard.
And he knew he would never be able to get back up from this fall, and Eddie knew that even if he could get back up from the fall, he wouldn't.
He wouldn't get up as he has fallen for Kasey Strand.
Eddie is indescribably, ridiculously, stupidly, fallen for his best friend.
And he doesn't know where to go from here.
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
“We only have eyes on the pumps and register.” Detective Marks states. “Now, best we can guess, she goes out the back window, husband catches her.”
Everyone’s words didn’t function in Kasey’s head after that as she was too busy watching Bear sniff around the place. Maddie’s beanie was in her hands, she was knelt down to the ground as she waited to see if Bear needed to sniff the hat again.
But after a few moments Bear bucked, signally Kasey to come over to inspect his findings. Bear’s tail wagged happily at the founding of a loose fabric of an item of clothing Maddie was wearing. Bear looked between the hat and the fabric as if telling Kasey that they both had the same smell.
And it confirms that Maddie was once here, and that she was close to the bathroom where the back window was.
Kasey stands up and gives a quiet nod at Buck who was watching Kasey’s actions the moment Bear barked. And Buck nodded back whilst he listens to Athena and Mark begin to discuss something he already knew due to Kasey.
And a second later, an officer steps out of the bathroom with a book in his hand. He hands it over to Detective Marks.
“It’s a rental car agreement.” He looks up before looking back down at the paper. “For a dark grey, four-door sedan. Looks like she started to write ‘help’ on the back. Rented near Burbank Airport. I’ll put out an APB.”
Detective Micks hands the book over to Athena who gets a closer look at it.
“Well, we know where he rented the car. Maybe we can use that to track him.”
“Uh, like LoJack.” Commented Buck.
“Well, rental car companies don’t use GPS tracking. It’s too expensive.” Detective Marks informs them. “It’s too expensive.”
“Yeah. Major companies don’t. But if you’re Bob and you only have 12 cars in your fleet you might want to know where they are at all times.” Athena handed the book back to Detective Marks, and he takes it with one hand whilst the other held his phone to his ear.
“Hey. It’s Marks. I think we got a lead on our suspect.”
❥๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑❥
“We found the rental car. No sign of the suspect or the victim.” A voice over the radio says.
“We found the kidnapper’s abandoned vehicle nearby, so we’re looking for a couple–”
The detective’s voice fades out and becomes background noise for Buck and Kasey who stood offside, arms touching as they awaited for more information on where Maddie is.
Kasey notices Buck’s hand begin to shake.
She holds his hand, squeezes it as if she was silently telling him that this was all going to be okay.
Bear began to get impatient as he heeled at Kasey’s side, and Kasey eyed her dog as he got onto all fours, looked around, before he went off running in some direction through the woods. Kasey followed immediately, yelling out his name, whilst Buck and Athena tried to catch up with them.
“Do you think he smelt something? Heard something?” Buck yelled as they ran.
“That’s impossible, they could be – Bear where the hell are you going buddy?!” Kasey tried to catch up with her dog, but the dog was a lot faster than the three humans that were chasing him.
As Maddie stumbled to walk through the snowy woods, a hand against the wound from the knife that had been recently impelled into her, she began to wonder if she was hallucinating at the strange noises she wearing – the sound of barking. It was faint and familiar, and followed by the barks were two familiar screams of her name that belonged to a man and woman.
She couldn’t see much expect a blurry figure of someone in a white shirt, someone in a black shirt and a smaller figure that she presumed was a dog.
In fact, Maddie was certain that the people she was seeing was Buck, Bear and Kasey.
They had found her – she was going to survive – she was going to get out of here.
Kasey and Bear stopped as they watched Buck rush in front of them, and the two Buckley’s stumbled their way towards one another.
“Maddie!”
“Buck?”
“Maddie!”
“Buck?”
“Maddie!”
“Buck!” The older Buckley lets out a broken sob, fallen to her knees but her brother was there to catch her. He held her and put more of her weight onto him. Buck had Maddie and he sure as hell wasn’t going to let his sister go.
His eyes took a look at the blood – there was quite a bit of blood. But Buck knew she would survive – Maddie would survive as she got herself out.
Maddie had saved herself, and Buck had just simply found her.
“I didn’t give up.” She tells him, and Buck knew that already, he knew she would have never given up.
She was, in his eyes, a superhero.
They held each other on the snow and cried to the heavens that they had found each other.
Cried to the heavens that she had survived.
Maddie Buckley is a survivor.

a/n: what tswift album do u guys think the 118 are 🤭 also what happens to yn is inspired by an episode of s19 that i love sm it’s so funny :))
buck knew the second y/n got pregnant that he wasn’t leaving. two years of dating is a short time to have a child, but they loved each other more than anyone. they knew they could give a child a good life, so they went with it.
all three of them moved to la, so buck could work with the LAFD and y/n could get to a higher position at work. their life there was immaculate. their little family was thriving, so buck put a ring on her finger. he didn’t even hesitate to buy the biggest one he saw, because he loved y/n the second he met her, and he emotionally couldn’t wait anymore. the words husband and wife rang in his ears, making him drop a dumbfounded grin.
no one at work knew, he didn’t really know what they thought of him. his team knew he was too fine to not have anyone, so they figured he was just with some girls here and there. the last thing they expected was a child and a fiancé along with it. it never came up in conversation, but buck still didn’t bother. he didn’t want to face any judgement from people that he didn’t already get from his family. the constant scrutiny about his age and his girl was exhausting.
now, neither of them would’ve changed it for the world. buck can’t imagine himself happier or in a life without them. it hurts him to even consider what would happen if y/n and his little boy weren’t there. he always gazed at them playing, sometimes just wanting to observe their brilliance.
buck knew he would have to explain to his team that he’s married, and that doesn’t mean he’s ashamed. he wants the world to know, but he doesn’t want y/n to be hurt by opinions from other people. he didn’t realize how soon he would have to until the alarm rang and until dispatch came through with the address. it was their house. the house where buck and y/n raised their son and the one where either could be hurt. every single scenario waved over buck, making him panic more by the second.
“you good, kid?” bobby asks, taking note of his bouncing knee.
“uh.. yeah! yeah, i’m fine,” he lies. buck hasn’t been with them for more than a year, so they just pass it along, not knowing any better. buck climbs out of the truck, grabbing a few tools before sprinting toward the house. now, the teams more alarmed. what is it about this house is making him act like a maniac?
“y/n?” buck calls out, running around trying to find her.
“kitchen!” she yells out, sounded distressed which only makes buck move even quicker. when he walks in, he immediately notices her leaning over the sink, her hand in the disposal. bobby and the rest of his crew walk in behind him, the four of them standing in the kitchen staring at her. “well?”
“oh-“ bobby moves, starting to gather some more tools out of his bag.
“what the hell happened?”
“i dropped my ring down, and i was trying to make him lunch,” she nods to the baby, sitting on the floor happily, clearly having no idea what’s happening. “i don’t even know why i tried to grab it, like some idiot!”
“hey,” buck says, walking over to her and placing a hand on her shoulder. “you’ll be fine, y/s/n is fine, yeah?” she looks up at him and nods, brushing her hair with her free hand.
“should we know the kids name too?” chim asks, giving buck a completely bamboozled expression. y/n passes buck the same face as hen walks over to check her hand. buck can’t get around it this time, and he wants them to know for once.
“um, guys,” he starts. “this is my fiancé, y/n and my son.”
“your what?” hen shouts, peeking her head out from behind y/n’s shoulder. she gives hen an awkward smile and buck stands there stiffly, worried about their reaction. everyone looks around at each other in shock that buck has his own family, and they didn’t even know.
“why didn’t you tell us?” bobby wonders.
“because i didn’t know how you’d react! i’ve heard it all from my parents, i didn’t need any more.”
“buck, we would’ve welcomed you no matter what your home life is. we’d love to get to know you and your family despite how it might’ve happened,” hen tells him, kindly. buck is confronted with immediate love, something he’s not to familiar with other than when his shifts end and he’s in y/n’s arms again. he’s surprised to say the least. he expected at lease some judgement, but there was nothing of the sort in the room.
“i’m thrilled you’re all having a nice moment here,” y/n interrupts. “but can we maybe get my hand out of my sink?”
buck and bobby pull the cabinets open and start drilling at the pipes underneath. buck secures the ring in his fingers before beaming up at y/n, showing her that he found it. “i got it!” he replies excitedly. “thank god, i don’t know if i have insurance for this thing. cost me my left leg,” he whispers to bobby. once they fully disconnect the system, hen slowly drags her bloody hand out and wraps it up. she hisses at the contact of the gauze and antiseptics. chimney starts to clean up the rest of the supplies, as hen treats the wound.
“so,” chimney begins. “when’s the wedding?”
“time and place, chim,” hen tells him. “time and place. but, yeah, are we invited?”
“yes,” buck says, obviously. “you’re invited.” he moves over to scoop his baby off the ground, carrying him over to his friends. they all speak to him in their little baby voices, and y/n watches with a shining smile on her face. buck knows he did the right thing, but he wishes he didn’t wait as long. now, he is certain that he has two solid families.

Buck: What if we just like, eloped? Eddie: Buck, we're not even dating. Buck: Don't need to be dating to elope. Come on, I could get us three tickets to Las Vegas or something. Eddie: Three? Buck, smiling: Of course, three. Can't go on a pseudo vacation without Chris now, can we? Eddie, smitten: I'll pack our bags.
