"Christopher would absolutely have something to say about that. That kid cannot shut up about you." Oh I bet. Tommy rolls up to the Diaz house expecting a chill time with Eddie and gets met with a teenager who brings Buck up in every sentence. That's usually Buck's seat. Buck never forgets to use a coaster. Oh yeah you fly helicopters cool did you know Buck saved someone from a helicopter crash? We already watched this movie with Buck. That's not what we order when Buck is here why aren't there extra crab rangoons? etc etc etc Christopher only told Buck about Tommy agreeing with his Star Wars opinions because his bullshit radar is so fine tuned that the second Tommy patronized him the tiniest bit (as most adults do talking to teenagers it's not Tommy's fault my dude is fighting for his life) he was like my father will hear about this and Buck is so jealous he has no idea Chris is complaining

WIP Wenesday
back on my (horny) magic au bullshit. this fic kinda takes place at the start of season 2 but I'm throwing in characters from all seasons because I want to. This scene takes place a few days after Eddie and Buck hooked up and Buck thought he'd never see him again. I ran out of beans with this fic before the holidays and they've finally returned from war (my depression fog)
“While Lucy was out of town last week she sent me to a different shop to get my plants and failed to mention that the owner has a very hot grandson who works here,” Buck says, shooting Lucy another look. He’s honestly starting to wonder if she was out of town at all or if she just wanted to see what would happen when Buck met Eddie. He’s never going to tell her what really happened.  “Speaking of beautiful men,” Chim says with a grin, looking through the glass locker room wall toward the storage area where they keep extra shirts. Lucy and Hen join Chim to look and Buck’s stomach drops when he gets there and sees Eddie Diaz putting on a LAFD shirt, looking just as hot as he had the first time Buck had seen him.  “Where’s the lie, and I like women,” Hen says with an appreciative nod. They all walk out of the locker room and run into Bobby. “Who’s the new guy Cap?”  “Eddie Diaz, new recruit,” Bobby says with a proud smile. It makes Buck’s stomach twist a little bit, it took him months to get a smile like that out of Bobby. “He’s a former Army medic with a silver star and a class four witch. Graduated top of his class from the academy two weeks ago.” “Class four?” Chim’s eyes are wide. “I’ve never met anyone above three before. I didn’t think class fours were real.” “Athena’s a class four you dumbass,” Hen says with a laugh. “But they’re really rare.” Buck couldn't seem to unstick his tongue from the roof of his mouth. He’d guessed Eddie was powerful when he’d met him, but class fours are few and far between. He’d never met one until he’d met Athena and she’s quick to tell people that she’s on the lower end of power for a class four witch. Buck’s only class two, his magic working best in potions and protection wards, something you could practice and get better at with time. To be a class four you need to have a raw power in your magic that Buck has never had.

Do you have the most favorite scene from your wips?
Hi Diana!
Yesss I have so many scenes I love, but this has to be up there with my favourites. It's from near the end of my s7 fic (tentative title: A Minor Delay), which will be starting to post soooon!! I just love it when they talk to each other lmao
"What happened?" Buck looks over at Eddie, and he swallows. Who else could he tell? Who else would understand the thing he hasn't talked about yet, the deep, squirmy discomfort he's been grappling with all this time? He can't lead with that, though. Instead, he opts for the straw that broke the camel's back. "She liked my parents."  Eddie winces, and it brings a trace of a smile to Buck's face. Eddie has never needed Buck to prove that his parents were a problem. Even before Buck himself had known the whole story, Eddie had been on his side. Still, that isn't everything. That isn’t the heart of why he’d broken up with Natalia. The conversations they’d never had, the reason Buck had avoided those conversations for so long. "I just—" he casts his mind back to another conversation, so many months ago in a different kitchen. "I died, Eddie. I died, and everything felt different but nothing actually changed.” He takes a shaky breath, staring into his cup. “And then I met Natalia, and she was…” Buck searches for the words, and finally looks up at Eddie. “It felt like a sign. With her job, and how we met, it felt like there was finally a reason why it happened. Like maybe she was the reason. I wanted it to be true, so I sort of... Went with the flow. Tried to convince myself it felt right, even though it never really did." If Buck’s honest with himself, he’s known all along that Natalia's reactions to the time he spent with Eddie weren't the real reason he'd let himself drift away. Taylor had disliked Eddie too, and Buck had still spent a significant amount of their relationship over at the Diaz house.  If he was truly honest with himself... "I'm sorry, Eddie." "You're sorry?" Eddie sets down his coffee, only halfway to his mouth. He frowns, confused. "I am. I... I've been a pretty shit friend lately. For months, really. Ever since…” he waves his hand, indicating all of it. “I guess I sort of knew all along that if I talked to you about this stuff, you'd call me on my bullshit. You’d point out how little sense it made, and I just really wanted it to be right. I wanted it to work out so bad, Eddie. I wanted… I needed it all to mean something.”  This time, Buck can’t fight the tears that come to his eyes. “You’re the one who sees me, Eddie. You’ve always been able to see me, the real me, behind all my bullshit."

Anti Bucktommy
Eddie deserves better than that raggedy storyline he was handed.
Don't read below the cut if you ship bucktommy because this is an ANTI-BUCKTOMMY ZONE!
Full Disclosure: Eddie is my favorite character and IMO the way he was charcterized in 7x4 was horrifically horrible.
It's been a few hours since the episode aired and I believe I'm finally at a place where I can articulate how damn angry I am about the way EDDIE DIAZ was treated throughout the episode.
Before it aired, I was still on the fence regarding if I should watch live because I didn't want Buck and Eddie to argue/fight but I sure as hell didn't want either of them to get injured. I really tried to keep an open mind about Buck’s storyline but I'm not sure how to process the fact that they made Eddie out to be the villain for the third time. First it was the lawsuit, then it was Buck's coma dream where he was charcterized as "Angry" and now this. He was the one injured but Tommy had to tell Buck to call Eddie and he was just like "ok" when pre-Tommy Buck would have taken Eddie to the hospital and stayed with him until he was better. But it appears everyone forgot how Buck dropped everything to take care of Eddie and Chris after Eddie’s breakdown since Buck finally kissed a guy.
Eddie
So... first things first. Eddie FINALLY ADMITTED HE'S TAKEN but when did that happen because Marisol has been on screen for like 5.098 seconds in 4 episodes. Second, why didn't Eddie ask her to babysit Chris? I mean if they're in a committed relationship or whatever, then shouldn't he have asked her? That would have made more sense but if he had then he wouldn't have been able to ask Buck to do it. And finally, why was his actions towards Buck made to seem like he was intentionally being mean? The pre-7x4 Eddie Diaz wouldn't have done that because he knows how self-deprecating Buck can be. Reminder he called Buck Evan first and it wasn't like he was trying to put him in his place like Tommy was and will do. Tommy's actions towards Buck didn't show that he even liked him since he was dismissive but this isn't about that, it's about Eddie.
Now, I still can't tell if Eddie's actions were supposed to be funny or WTF but the way they had him acting like he was inconsiderate towards Buck’s feelings was just WRONG! Furthermore making it seem like he was using him and rubbing his nose in it since he had a new friend was NOT OK! FYI, the way everything played out validated some of those Facebook moms' thoughts because they've already posted that they believe Eddie uses Buck to babysit for him so he can go out and have fun 👀.
Additionally, Eddie was shown to be the one Buck’s affection... no fuck that, LOVE was directed towards only for Buck to literally injure him and ACT like he did it because he wanted to be with fucking Tommy Kinard? I call BULLSHIT and at this point I don't like Buck very much right now because of the way he acted in this episode.
Showing Eddie using Buck to babysit Chris and talking at him and ignoring him while he was hanging out with the guy who basically called Buck stupid and unbelievable to his face was just bad writing. Of course there will be those who say, "Let the story play out because it was just one episode" but the audience has been here before waiting for Buck to finally get it and nothing changed except he's dating a man now. None of this was ok and even though Maddie told him don't do it again, that was fine I guess but what in the actual fuck was this raggedy ass storyline? There was a better way to handle this without making Eddie the villian.
If all Tim Minear wanted to do was set Buck up with someone other than Eddie, then he could have picked a better character than Tommy. Also, there's an article that indicates he was planning to bring Lucy back for this storyline and it's ridiculous. She already put her lips on Buck without his permission and Tommy did the same thing and so did Taylor.
At this point, I don't know how to feel about Buck. But I do care about Eddie who was called "Angry" in Buck’s coma dream and who Buck actually fucking physically injured during a basketball game because he's jealous that Eddie was hanging out with Tommy.
I can't support a toxic relationship and that's what I saw happening between Buck and Tommy in 7x4.
IMO, The math ain't mathing and this is... not good storytelling.

Talking Buddie Language: Ep 6.01
Episode 6.01 gave us so many wonderful Buck and Eddie moments. There is so much to analyze that my mind was working overtime trying to distinguish everything and what that all means for them.
Firefighter's Buckley and Diaz & their partnership:
We finally get Eddie back as a full fledged firefighter but only get a tiny moment of him and Buck acting like partners. Buck is paired off with Hen, while Eddie is paired off with Chim to go save the two captains. Now I think it was brilliant to show Eddie being the one to do the big save since this is the first time we see him back as a firefighter. They wanted to show us that he is back and better than ever.
I did appreciate Bobby sending Buck up to help Eddie. He knows they work best when they're working together. That comes from years of seamless partnership and just knowing the other like they were an extension of their self. Buck runs up because he will always be there to have Eddie's back. His cute worried face let us know that he was of course worried about Eddie's wellbeing but was going to do everything in his power to make sure Eddie and the other captain got out of the blimp safely. His soft, “Eddie Hey” alerting Eddie that he’s there and he’s got his back was so perfectly them. They don’t need to talk to do their jobs. They’re in each other’s head. But it was great to see that little soft interaction between them. It's interesting to me that we didn't get any other moment of them two afterwards to discuss any emotions they were feeling during those tense few minutes.
The Interim Captain Debacle:
I loved this scene very much. Eddie is being sassy whilst speaking to Lucy, which indicates that there's still a lack of closeness between the two. His voice did not sound genuine enough when he asked her how she broke her foot off duty.
The parallel between this scene and the one from 3.01 is amazing in how they're different. In 3.01, Bobby is telling the team that Buck isn't getting out of bed and that he's not taking this whole unemployed thing well. Eddie's initial reaction is, "He's just sulking Cap, he'll get over it...Look I know it sucks, but that's life right? Whenever stuff didn't work out for me, my dad always told me to brush it off, keep moving forward." They then discuss how Buck has them, the team, because they're his family and that's the thing that makes Eddie realize he has to check in on his partner. Because until Bobby said that, Eddie wasn't taking Buck's duress seriously due to the way he was raised. He didn't realize it himself that he may need to check in with his friend and see if he needs some kind of support.
Tumblr media
The difference with this scene in 6.01 is that Eddie notices something is wrong with Buck almost immediately. He immediately looks up from what he's doing because the tone of Buck's voice is enough to make him realize that this may be a deeper issue for Buck. You can tell by the raise of his brow and the way he doesn't take his eyes off Buck. I did a mini analysis of this scene already, so I will just link it here so I am not repeating myself. My entire point is that Eddie has let go of the toxic bullshit his father instilled in him and he's allowed himself to be more in tune with Buck. He doesn't need Bobby or anyone else to tell him something is bothering Buck, he knows it before anyone else. That is massive development for not only Eddie, but his relationship with Buck.

The Buckley-Diaz domestic Family Dinner:
There’s so much to unpack here. First and foremost this is the first Buckley-Diaz family scene we have gotten in such a long time. The last time we saw these three together was in 5.14 and it was during the equine therapy scene. And the last time we saw them having a family dinner, it wasn't just them three because Taylor was also present.
Before anything, I just want to focus on Eddie’s reaction to Buck dismissing Lucy by saying, “She’s whatever you know she’s great. But she’s out.” The man looked up from what he was doing to give Buck the fondest heart eyes ever. He kind of looked at Buck almost as if to say, “Stop talking about other women when I’m sitting in front of you with our child.” It was the second heart eyes we got from him this episode and it was so beautiful to see how Eddie doesn’t even try to hide them at all.
I will say however, that way he raises his right brow and kinda sighs to himself really indicates minor jealousy/hurt over simply hearing her name. It’s almost as if he’s thinking, “Not this again”, which is common when someone is pining for the other person. Which can be the case here. But it’s not something too important for him to dwell on it for long. He just can’t help his reaction to hearing about Buck speak about someone else, especially given he has had some sort of history with that person.
Tumblr media
(Gif by @swiftiebuck)
Buck and Eddie, to me at least, were having two different conversations simultaneously while at Buck’s loft. I think it’s so important that Eddie is sat facing towards Buck during this entire exchange. He’s facing him head on and letting him know he can tell him anything he wants.
B: “So it doesn’t bother you that Bobby didn’t even consider either one of us for interim captain?”
E: “Not really. Just got back to the 118. But clearly it’s bothering you.”
This is very important because this is Eddie taking that leap and bringing up something that is bothering Buck more than he is letting on. It is his way of showing that he is in a better mental health space now and that he is so in tune to Buck’s own emotions. He is confident enough to broach this topic with Buck first and have a normal conversation on what is bothering him. He isn’t letting Buck just sulk until the gets over it. He is breaching the door and allowing Buck to confide in him, without judgement. Also it’s important to note his tone of voice because it’s soft and he doesn’t have all his usual sass underlying his words. He does tend to tease Buck often but right now he is letting Buck know is not one of those times. It is also interesting to note how this conversation, Eddie bringing up that something is bothering Buck is very much something that goes on between couples. It is how longterm partners/spouses approach their significant other to let them know, “Hey, I see you, I know you, you can trust me. I’m here whenever you are ready to unburden your problems.”
B: “When he has so many other excellent options right under his nose.”
E: “Like you.”
Now see Eddie isn’t asking this. Eddie is simply stating that he knows what is on Buck’s mind because he knows him. Knows that this is the root of his problem.
B: “It’s like he’s choosing not to see them & everything they have to offer.”
E: “Time.”
Eddie doesn't respond to Buck’s remark then. He busies himself with Christopher to gather his thoughts. Because Buck seems to not only be talking about Bobby choosing someone else to be interim captain. This is where I believe the two simultaneous conversations begin.
I find it very interesting that Eddie is the one who shifts the conversation into another direction. Sure they can still be talking about the interim captaincy. But he asks Buck plain and simple, “What are you offering?” The way he tilts his head to the left and looks up at him indicates that he genuinely wants to know the answer to that question. Now see, I don’t believe for one moment he wants to know the answer solely for why Buck thinks he should be interim captain. I think this is Eddie’s way of asking in general what Buck is offering to other’s around him, possibly even Eddie himself.
Tumblr media
(Gif by @whattarush)
Buck chooses that moment to offer Eddie and Christopher lasagna, which happens to be Bobby’s famous lasagna. Again, the saying about the way to a man’s heart is through the stomach is very prevalent here and it parallels Eddie cooking dinner for Buck in 5.11.
Eddie’s body language throughout their entire exchange is very open. When he asks what Buck is offering, he spread his arms wide open in a welcoming stance. He’s welcoming whatever Buck’s response is going to be because he’s already welcomed Buck into his life fully. There’s nothing closed about him in thet moment. On the contrary, it’s almost as if Eddie is also giving himself up to Buck by the way he’s spread his arms and offered himself for the taking.
Eddie’s immediate response is to look proud and fond, and respond with, “It does look good.” That is basically Eddie’s way of saying, “I see you, I see what you bring to the table, and I love it. I want what you're offering.”
Buck emphasizing that it took him 3 tries to perfect what he offered Eddie and Christopher is very interesting because he has had 3 previous failed relationships. It took him 3 tries to perfect this dinner for his boys. He is offering not only his lasagna, but himself after these 3 failed relationships, in the hope that he is enough for them. You guys see how Buck and Eddie seem to be dancing around one another with their words?
The Buddie Couch Debacle:
The couch metaphor has me in the tightest chokehold. I remember I answered an ask last season about the symbolism of Taylor’s and Eddie’s couch and what that means to Buck. I unfortunately cannot locate the ask so just bare with me please.
B: “My last two couches came with girlfriends.”
E: “I think you mean your last two girlfriends came with couches.”
The way Eddie says that in a confident but sassy way makes me laugh. Because he’s very well aware of Buck’s previous girlfriends and the baggage (couch) they brought into Buck’s life. What’s interesting is Buck’s eye squint in response. Because he’s looking at Eddie as if to ask him, with their seamless nonverbal communication, what he’s getting at?
E: “Taylor moved out 4 months ago.”
He’s emphasizing that she’s been gone for months and Buck still hasn’t “moved on”. Moved on in the sense that he wasn’t out actively looking for another couch/girlfriend. These two words are being used in place of each other. They’re using couches as a metaphor for his previous girlfriends/relationships.
Eddie is suggesting that Buck could’ve found another girlfriend with her own couch if he had wanted to, but he hasn’t. His tone of voice is interesting to me because he’s not necessarily jealous but it does come off as somewhat passive.
B: “Maybe I don’t want to pick the wrong couch again.”
As Buck says these words, he holds intense eye contact with Eddie. It’s a heated look for sure because he’s trying to make Eddie understand that sure he couldn’t gotten another couch/girlfriend but he’s worried about finding another wrong person. He’s been burnt a few times and his last relationship was all kinds of wrong, which Eddie knows. So the fact that Buck is looking him in the eyes while saying that, slightly raising his brows to challenge Eddie to say something in return is very interesting. Again it’s like they’re definitely not talking about couches but instead talking about the fact that Eddie basically asked Buck why he hasn’t put himself out there again. Meanwhile Buck is informing Eddie that he’s not actively looking for anybody because he doesn’t want to jump into things and risk the next person being a wrong choice again.
Tumblr media
(Gif by @whosoldherout)
I also find Buck’s look to have underlying fond tones. Because even when he’s questioning Eddie, he can’t help the love and fondness that is directed towards him everytime he looks his way. You can see it in his eyes, they’re open and it’s his special look he has reserved for Eddie. But there’s a definite underlying heat to them. Something’s changed because the looks they shared back and forth felt charged with something. They definitely have a sorta flirting back and forth going on in that moment and it’s so similar to how they used to be before their respective girlfriends.
One thing I want to mention is I love how both Eddie and Christopher show their love through teasing. That is sort of their own special love language and I think it was so cute and important for it to be Christopher who started the entire couch conversation by simple telling Buck that he “Doesn’t even have a couch.”
Exasperated Fond Husband Mode Activated:
During the scene in the golf course, I just want to mention how married they are. Buck is acting like an overactive puppy but only so he can prove to Bobby that he is a great candidate for interim captain. Eddie catches on almost immediately to his behavior. The part where Buck is closing off the entire area with caution tape and Eddie glances over his shoulder to where Buck is being Buck, it’s typical exasperated husband energy. He rolls his eyes and looks away in a I can’t believe I love this idiot kinda way. You can tell there isn’t anything malicious behind this look. On the contrary, it’s Eddie’s patented fond, exasperated husband look that is only for Buck. We’ve seen many other instances where he looks at him like this. One prime example is when Buck was teaching Ravi how to break the door in 5.04 and Eddie looked back and rolled his eyes again. This look only comes out when Buck is trying to put on a façade and overcompensate at work. I believe it’s because Eddie knows how capable and what a good firefighter Buck is. So he doesn’t think Buck needs to put on an act and be someone he isn’t to do the job they do. Hence the exasperated fond eye roll.
Tumblr media
(Gif by @aa-lionheart)
Saws and Jaws Bring Out the Heart Eyes:
Eddie Diaz is completely smitten over on excitable Evan Buckley. Especially when it comes to Evan Buckley with his saw. You see Eddie standing behind Buck and I love how they immediately share a moment where they have a conversation with their eyes. They always seek each other on the job for any reassurance or just to check in with the one person they’re so close to.
Tumblr media
(Gif by @jakejensen)
The heart eyes he can’t help but bring out when Buck is in his element just goes to show that Eddie likes when Buck is Buck. He loves his Buck and doesn’t think he should change himself because he’s perfect the way he is. It’s a vast difference to his exasperated look when Buck is trying to overcompensate and do more than he needs to and it shows. Eddie is at ease and when he’s at ease, his natural love and fondness for Buck just comes out. It’s like second nature for Eddie to look at Buck like this. His little smile and proud stance further proves that he likes when Buck is like this, in his element, doing what he’s best at.
Bobby and Buck + Couch Debacle Part 2:
Adding to the entire couch discussion, I think it was very important for Buck and Bobby to have the discussion they did at the station. It’s no surprise that Buck looks up to Bobby as a father figure and he was hurting inside over the fact that Bobby didn’t even think of him as a candidate for interim captain.
Buck asking Bobby if the reason for him not choosing him was “Because I don’t have a couch” was a great leeway into Bobby tackling what’s really bothering Buck. When Bobby asks Buck why he doesn’t have a couch, he opens up the floor for discussing what the real issue is that is bothering Buck.
Buck explains how he’s been having trouble picking one out because he’s afraid of making another mistake. Him confiding in Bobby that his previous relationship was a mistake is huge because again he views Bobby like a father figure. He feels comfortable enough to let him on his worries because he knows Bobby won’t diminish his feelings. On the contrary, he’ll help him out, which is exactly what happens here. He uses his own life experiences to try and connect with Buck so that it’s done on a more personal level.
BN: “In AA, there’s this idea that you take inventory of your life, admit your shortcomings, and hope that one day, you can look at the world straight in the eye and be alone at perfect peace and ease.”
B: “You uh, don’t think I’m at ease?”
BN: “I think the important thing is that you answer that question yourself. But when you are, you’ll know. And then you’ll be ready.”
Now here is another example of two conversations occurring simultaneously. They’re not really talking about couches and Bobby knows that to an extent. He knows what Buck suffers with the most and that is finding who he is and what his place is in the world. He’s looking for a partner that will stay and love him now he seeks. He’s been searching for that kinda love for a long time and Bobby knows that. Bobby in his own words is basically saying that he shouldn’t be afraid to make mistakes or find the wrong person. There’s nothing wrong with being single for a bit and figuring out who you are while single. He wants him to embrace this about himself so that eventually when the right person does come along he will be ready.
That then leads to the final scene where we have Eddie and Christopher at home playing their game. The next clip is of Buck in his living room. He grabs the lone arm chair and moves it so that it’s in the middle of the living room, where the couch should be. This is him embracing his single hood for the time being and not being in any rush to go out and get a new couch (meet a new person). This is him being secure in himself and maybe taking this time to learn who he is without being in a relationship and who he is outside of his job. For now he’s happy with his choice but it leaves so many things open for interpretation. Because his conversation with Eddie is still a major factor in his decision to not get a couch. And a part of me thinks that we probably won’t even see Buck get another couch because the couch he’s been looking for, the right couch has been in front of him this entire time. And this perfect couch will be there waiting for Buck for whenever he’s finally ready to choose it.

Ao3, what do you mean there are no more that 5 *completed* works related to FirstPrince and Buddie?? Are you telling me that people saw rwrb and didn’t think “Ah… a Texan sassy man that has a crush with a cute blonde guy who is actually British and has obviously issues with his upbringing and who’s only friend was his sister growing up” and didn’t thing about Buddie?
Bullshit.
I need Eddie knowing about The Claremont-Diaz (probably Chris making a paper about people how change the world who lived in your state) and The Buckleys being related to the royal family but for Arthur’s side so not everyone knows. So when the fucking prince of England just shows up in Bucks apartment with his boyfriend (the agcd) as if it was his house everyone is shocked.
Ravi probably collapses… btw
Yeah. that’s all.
And yes, this is not the first time I post about it.

Inspiration Saturday 🎙️🎸
For me it's saturday and I need to share what I did for inspiration for enemies to lovers cause I can't wait (I'm actually so so excited about this fic)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
+ snippet (Look they can talk like normal people)
it goes after that snippet
At some moment Eddie is so lost in his own bubble consisting of him and the music he plays that when a mug with something that clearly smells like coffee is lowered near him, he just blinks for a few seconds trying to figure out what happened.
While he comes out of a working trance, followed by shock, Buckley just comes back to his notes with another cup, sipping his coffee.
Looking at the cup and then sniffing coffee, Eddie speculates if Buckley could have mixed something to poison him.
“It’s just black coffee. Chim once said you prefer just black. And I’m not an idiot to kill you when there are so many witnesses around,” blonde looks at him while he sips coffee sitting on his chair with his mile-long legs tucked under him, grinning.
“I know Bobby longer than you, and I know we actually would end this song. So like it or not, we need to have a truce at least till the song is released. Consider this coffee my step towards a truce, yours is on you. But it will be easier for both of us if we at least try not to bicker,” on that Buckley turns away from him.
For a second Eddie wants to say that they would need to be here at all if Buckley doesn't get on his nerves and doesn't start fights all the time, but Eddie shuts up, bitterly admitting that Buckley is right, Bobby won't back off until the song is ready and quarrels will only complicate their situation.
He grabs the cup and takes a sip, noting that Buck somehow managed to program that monster Hildy so that even his black coffee is incredible. Taking a few more sips, Eddie ponders his move, watching as Buckley crosses out the more lines that he wrote just five minutes ago.
“Do you eat chocolate with coffee?”
Buckley turns back to him with a raised eyebrow and nods.
Eddie reaches into his bag and takes two chocolate bars he bought when took Chris to school cause he didn’t have time to have breakfast when he overslept his alarm.
“Catch,” Eddie says and throws one bar to blue-eyed who catches it easily.
“Was in some sports team?”
“Football. High school,” Buckley says, opening his bar. “Thanks, this one is my fav.”
“I would suspect you played basketball, but football makes sense too. Why did you stop?”
“Serious leg injury. Three operations,” blonde shrugs like three operations at a young age means nothing, Eddie in his example knows that this is not easy. “My parents didn't let me play anymore, and I didn't want to. Music has always been closer to me. So I just accepted the sign of the universe and devoted myself completely to music.”
Eddie grins.
“Universe seriously? You believe in this bullshit?”
“It’s not bullshit, Diaz. Universe can literally scream at you. And I prefer to listen to it until it is not using big guns like lightning or bullets,” Buckley shows him his tongue at his exasperated head shaking. “What about you? Any sports team?”
“Baseball. Was on the way to becoming a professional actually,” Eddie admits as they apparently share their high school experiences before becoming superstars.

Whump/ Hurt!Buck Masterlist
Accidental by Rosefield - 36,090 words, teen+
Summary: It was an accident. He slipped. That doesn't mean he isn't going to take advantage of the opportunity that presents itself.
---- Post Lawsuit, Buck accidentally cuts his arm. He decides that maybe not getting help is best for everyone.
--- TW for suicidal idealization and injury that turns into a suicide attempt.
a leaf falls on loneliness by iimpossible_things - 11,163 words, not rated
Summary: Buck doesn’t think that if he were to say, “I’m in a bad place”, that anyone would turn him away. Really, he doesn’t. The 118 has too many good, kind people for that.
But every time he wants to open his mouth, to say something, to reach out to Eddie or Bobby or Hen or Chim, he hears Eddie yelling, “you’re exhausting.”
—you’re exhausting, you’re exhausting, you’re exhausting—
So each day he does his job and he laughs and he jokes and he pretends he’s the care-free goofball he’s always been. And each day he packs away his bruises and his worries, takes them home to his empty loft with its quiet rooms, and licks his wounds in silence.
Always, All Ways by ashavahishta - 85,000 words, explicit
Summary: “Buck is very dear, Mr Diaz. Not only to me but to the pack. You’ll find that if you treat him with anything less than utmost respect you’ll have a lot of people to answer to.”
Eddie swallowed. It was clear that in the absence of a mate, this omega had found himself a very protective pack. “Understood, sir.”
Or: Buck’s the only omega in the 118. He’s got secrets, and walls a mile high.
Eddie’s the alpha determined to knock them down.
blue enough to bruise by renecdote - 3,161 words, teen+
Summary: Two things happen at once:
Buck overbalances, arm slipping from around the bridge.
The rope snaps.
They lock eyes for a second, half a second, Buck’s wide and afraid, Eddie’s probably a match with the way his heart is pounding hard enough to hurt, nothing either of them can do, knowing that there is nothing either of them can do, and then—Buck is falling.
Breath and Shadow by Princessfbi - 20,629 words, teen+
Summary: The words hit the back of Buck’s neck and slid down his spine with the drops of the cold sweat collecting in the small of his back. The weight on Buck’s chest was an echo of what it used to be but still as suffocating as before when those words whirled around on repeat every time someone looked too long, looked too closely.
“He’s fine,” Hen had said to Bobby that day he’d come in sporting a bruise on his face and lying through his teeth about some bullshit with a bicycle.
The day Hen had lied for him too.
fireflies where my caution should be by littlesnowpea - 13,799 words, mature
Summary: “You never talk about your parents,” Eddie says, which is not even remotely what Buck expects Eddie to say. He frowns, tilts his head, but it isn’t a question, as evidenced by Eddie charging on. “I never asked because I figured it was your business, but the look on your face any time they’re brought up tells me you don’t get along.”
Buck swallows hard, against a lump in his throat. His parents? Eddie’s right, he never talks about them, for good reason. He opens his mouth, then closes it again, not sure what he’s even going to say.
Eddie takes it as the answer Buck is trying to make it out to be. He squeezes Buck’s wrist again, takes a deep breath, like he’s on a call with someone who’s panicking. Buck finds his breathing slowing to match Eddie’s, and Eddie nods as Buck gets it under control.
“There are people on the porch,” Eddie says, voice even. “Saying they want to meet their grandchild.”
i'm sinking deeper (reaching for the end of the light) by moodyreindeer - 8,716 words, mature
Summary: "I'm just so tired."
post 3.04, rewrite of 3.05 - when all is said and done, Buck is just really fucking tired of feeling alone.
Love You Sober by Child_Of_Wonderland - 4,545 words, teen+
Summary: Buck twirls the beer bottle around in his fingers and tries to ignore the rapid fading of the warmth in his chest. It's not a feeling he can mimic, no matter how hard he may try, and his brain won't stray from a perfect image of Eddie. To be loved back, that's all he really wants.
one part trust, three parts betrayal (just add fire) by wonderfool (foolmetal) - 14,925 words, teen+
Summary: Buck's parents are in town. It all goes downhill from there.
Overcome by Spicysauce - 53,697, mature
Summary: Or, set post season 5A, where Buck is alone, and angry, and exhausted, but mostly terrified that everyone he loves is slowly slipping away from him.
Reaching In The Dark by Pline - 38,713 words, general
Summary: It all started innocent enough but Buck can no longer deny it.
He has a stalker.
Someone so obsessed with him that they would spend hours and hours following him, unnoticed, taking pictures of him, taking notes of his habits.
But life has been so good lately, and Buck doesn’t want to worry anyone. So he tells no one about it, he can deal with it on his own.
real family by haveufoundwhaturlookingfor - 5,578 words, general
Summary: Buck has a son, but only few people know about him because of Buck's abusive ex-husband. Buck has been terrified of his ex-husband finding him and taking his son away from him, but a minor accident with his son makes him realize that maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he told the 118 about his son.
Taking Smoke with my Coffee by UisceOneLove - 3,930 words, general
Summary: "Order for Firefighter Diaz!"
Eddie knows that coffee runs have typically been deemed a Probie task. He did plenty of them when Bobby first recruited him to the 118. So, tradition dictates that it's supposed ot be Ravi getting them.
But Eddie gets to have a lot of nice things for himself. The things that make even his worst call days just a smidge better.
If anyone (Hen) is interrogating him for details, it's definitely the coffee he's referring to."
I'm not in my gear, Buck," Eddie tells the barista when he approaches the counter.
The smile he looks forward to is waiting for him courtesy of the barista that makes even Eddie have to tip his head back a little bit to make eye contact. "Yeah," Buck drawls as he pushes the tray of coffee towards him, "but you're still on duty."
The Messiest of the Messy by Spicysauce - 16,965 words, teen+
Summary: Irritated, Eddie clenched his fists, starting to turn around. "Why would Buck be eating with us - "
The words died in his throat along with the shatter of the mug against the floor. But Eddie barely noticed he dropped it, his mouth slightly agape as he stared at Buck, took in the bruises, and the blood, and general brokenness of the man before him.
***
Or: After the Lawsuit, Buck is starting to think his team will never forgive him and is feeling lonelier than ever, when his dad shows up, looking for money that Buck doesn't have. Now, his ribs are broken and his face has been pummelled into one big bruise. All he wants to do is retreat to his empty apartment and wallow in his own self-pity, but before that he needs to get his keys, which he'd left at the station the previous night.
Everyone else is on shift, so he's hoping he can sneak into the locker room and be gone before anyone notices he was there, but this is Buck, so of course, nothing goes to plan.
there's frost in the air (but there's home in your eyes) by rogerzsteven - 3,702 words, teen+
Summary: Buck and Eddie are trapped in a train crash.
The Third Drawer by scarletmanuka - 7,767 words, mature
Summary: After his return to work, Buck feels lost and alone due to the way he's been treated by the people he thought were his family. In order to stop the pain, he begins to hurt himself instead.
this is me trying (at least i'm trying) by screaminghalfpastmidnight - 15,393 words, teen+
Summary: Buck never really dealt with his issues after the tsunami and the team never really asked so here he is, two years later - the pier's reopening, a victim shows up and thanks Buck, plus the city wants to give him an award for not dying out of pure luck. So, yeah. Buck's not doing well, everyone knows and Eddie's unsure which lines he should be crossing now that he and Buck are in some weird, middle stage of knowing that they will be together, but aren't yet due to personal reasons (like figuring their own relationship trauma out so they're not shitty partners).
waiting on the sunrise by autumnchills - 28,375 words, teen+
Summary: When Buck left home, it was a rushed decision. He didn’t know where he was going or what he was going to do, but he had a high school diploma and enough street smarts to make it as far from his father as possible.
It's been nearly ten years since then, and now his father is in town. Buck quickly learns that some things haven't changed.
But other things have, and his family will help him realize that.

As I think about it the more I’m feeling like…it’s going to have to be Christopher himself isn’t it? Giving Eddie whatever ultimate smack he needs to stop the regression he’s heading for—it has to be Christopher? All of the groundwork they’ve laid, over the seasons, but even more clearly beginning with “make sure you’re following your heart, not Christopher’s,” through to Eddie quitting the 118 “for Christopher” and Christopher being almost angry about being used as an excuse/shutting Eddie down flat by pointing out that he never asked for that, to Christopher coming into his own even more this season, wanting more independence, not wanting to be treated like a kid (not needing to be protected…). Christopher is old enough now and has experienced enough that he can see through Eddie’s bullshit and isn’t willing to let it slide and if there’s even a whiff of Eddie being scared and falling into bad habits and attempting to justify his actions as being about/for Christopher? I don’t see him being happy about that at all.
I think there’s a reason we never got a Diaz Boys talk in Breaking Point after Christopher ran away to Buck’s. Or any real Diaz Boys talk about Ana at all. Because that dynamic, those conversations would have had the potential to be far too revealing too soon. But now…yeah, another chat with Carla isn’t going to break the cycle, and Buck also probably couldn’t this time if the catalyst was his near-death experience. Christopher though? Maybe… maybe…

I wasn't gonna post anything until I get back from my vacation but I'm reading the prequel to "they both die at the end" and it prompted an idea of a little crossover sad fic with a tragic mcd ending and I'm gonna break my own heart with this one for sure 😂 (@thebravebitch said what I have so far is good and I trust her judgment lol ❤️)
so here's a little snippet I wrote on my phone bc I couldn't help myself and wait a few days 😂
______
His phone ringing wakes him up. At first he's confused, not registering it's his phone, since it's not even his ringtone. It takes him a few seconds to recognize it, and when he does, he looks at his phone and freezes, the words "DEATH-CAST" showing up as the caller ID.
He doesn't panic. When he answers the call, they'll tell him he's going to die in the next twenty four hours - or, twenty two hours, since it's after 2am already, they took their time to deliver this news. But he doesn't panic, he doesn't worry, he just freezes, and wonders if he should answer the call at all. After all, he's not even sure he believes in this whole damn thing.
One thing he does know is that no one will even try to convince him that he's going to die soon. They don't know shit.
*
It's not a new information that Eddie Diaz is what can be classified as a skeptic. He's not a believer in supernatural forces, magic, jinxes, ghosts, lately he even struggles with religion, despite his abuela's best efforts. Everyone in his life is aware of that.
So when this dude showed up out of nowhere claiming he can predict when people are gonna die, with no details or explanation, and give them one last day to sort out their affairs and say goodbye - Eddie called bullshit. He wasn't about to spend money on the off chance that they'll let him know when he's about to die. With being in the army, shot at every day, and even now with being a firefighter, he's aware of his own mortality more than your average person, he's already had more brushes with death than most people.
But he bought the subscription anyway, for his whole family. He had his parents, his abuela, his tía, and his wife trying to convince him, and they didn't succeed - he still thinks it's bullshit - but at least that got them to shut up about it. So, since then they spent thousands every year on subscribtions to this dumb service for himself, Shannon, and Christopher, and it was a waste of money, in Eddie's opinion.
And then, shortly after he moved to LA with his son, when he reconnected with his estranged wife, trying to see where this would go, but no matter what, his son was getting his mom back, and things were starting to look up again - Shannon got the call.
Eddie didn't belive it, but she did, and she decided to live this day like it's her last - which it ended up being, after all, but Eddie's still not sure if it wasn't some freak coincident.
That's what he's trying to tell her, when she's asking for a divorce that they don't have time to get finalized before he becomes a widower. She looks at him over the table in the little café they met, and there's nothing but peaceful acceptance, mixed with a bit of sorrowful regret for what she'll miss, in her eyes.
"Please make sure Christopher remembers I love him. I loved him, and I'll continue to love him from wherever we go after." she says with feeling, but at the same time she's almost casual about it. As if the prospect of dying within who knows how many hours wasn't a big deal. As if the only big deal is leaving her child once again, this time permanently.
Eddie can't take this. He won't believe this.
He still has trouble believing when he arrives on a call to a car accident later, and sees Shannon lying there on the street. Logically, he knows it makes sense, there's been a lot of people he's heard about who got the call and died, there's no reason not to believe it. But there's also not a lot of reasons to believe it, it might all just be a coincidence. Eddie's not about lose Shannon. Chris is not about to lose his mom. It's not fair. And he can't help blaming the stupid Death-Cast program.

wip buddie fic
okay im working on my first 911 fic (woohoo! or should i say weewoo! am i right) and anyways its not gonna be very long but im v excited to be part of this fandom and anyways here an excerpt
it's from maddie's pov where she accidentally crashes the bimonthly buckley diaz family dinner except buck and eddie arent dating and it reminds her just a bit too much of buffridays
Buck recovers and raises his hands out to Eddie, where the other man slides the kind of minced onion onto. Buck continues mixing everything together. “Well, Maddie, you’re in luck. The recipe serves four people and Chris had better things to do,” he says, though the last part carries hints of bitterness. She isn’t the only one who notices if Eddie’s grand eye roll says anything. Maddie raises her eyebrows at Eddie, who clarifies: “Chris is at a sleepover.” “Jealous you didn’t get an invitation? I’m sure they just didn’t have a big enough bed.” Buck glares at Eddie’s snort. He looks at Maddie and says, “Ha ha. I’m not jealous. I just think he’s a little young to go on a sleepover.” “I call bullshit.” Eddie goes to wash his hands at the sink. Behind Buck, he turns his head to face Maddie.  “And you would be right. Buck’s dropped him off and picked him up from more than a couple of sleepovers. It’s just Friday night and he knows he’s supposed to not make any plans.” Wait. “Do you guys do this every Friday?” “No, of course not. Our schedule doesn’t let us.” Right. Normal. “So we only do this every two weeks.” “We’re supposed to do this every two weeks, but apparently some random kid–“ “His best friend.” “turning 10–“ "Thirteen." “and throwing a pool party at his boring house–“ "Mansion." “Is more important than family time.” And thank god he’s in love with her brother because Eddie’s too busy shaking his head and smiling fondly to notice Maddie mouthing family time to herself. Sometimes, the fact that her loose-lipped husband worked with her friends and brother was a net negative because she couldn’t just tell him stuff like this. Whatever this is.
Maddie watches this go down, the words family time spinning in her head like a rotisserie chicken.
pls leave feedback if you have any thoughts or notice anything weird

WIP Wednesday
from my Buddie MMA Rivals AU.
Tumblr media
Buck stretches, paying extra attention to his leg, making sure the lingering ache is gone. He then heads to the treadmill for a warm-up run. Only once he’s coated in a layer of sweat does he wrap his wrists and hands, heading over to the punching bag. He loses himself in a rhythm, jab, jab, hook, uppercut, repeat. He occasionally changes the order and throws in some kicks just for the hell of it.
The world fades away until it's just him and how far he can push himself. He doesn’t even notice that people had started arriving until a hand lands on his shoulder. Buck steps back, and shakes out his arms as he looks over at Bobby.
“How long you’ve been here, kid?” Bobby says, there’s a concerned crease between his eyes, one that Buck is well aquatint with.
Buck peals his gloves off, and shrugs, “What's the time?”
“Ten past eight,” Bobby says, holding out a water bottle for Buck, which he takes gratefully.
He downs half the bottle before responding, “A while then.”
Bobby sighs, “Couldn’t sleep?”
“I wonder why,” Buck says sarcastically and regrets it instantly when that crease deepens.
“Look, Buck-”
“-Eddie Diaz! Welcome, come in, Bobby your new fighter’s here,” Athena says interrupting whatever Bobby was going to say.
Buck can feel his muscles stiffen as they both turn to look in Athena’s direction. She’s at the door, standing aside as a familiar figure walks inside. And there goes Buck’s sanctuary, the only place he could leave all the bullshit outside and just lose himself.
Buck’s actually only seen Diaz a few times in person but he knows how objectively attractive he is.
He’s seen him sweaty and bloody in the cage, he’s seen him in his after-fight suit that hugs all the right curves. So it shouldn’t be a shock to see how good he looks standing in Buck’s gym but it is. He has no right to be this good-looking this early in the morning, especially in jeans and a hoodie; dark wash jeans that hug his thighs sinfully and a maroon hoodie that complements his skin tone. His hair is product free and fluffy, and all Buck wants to do is get his hands in there to hold him in place while he knees him in the stomach. It would be a foul, but he thinks it might be worth it.

i think this counts as tease tidbit tuesday but also like three other ones i've been tagged in, it's been a weird time i moved on the weekend so here is a little tease from are we still friends? can we be friends?
tagged by @cal-daisies-and-briars and @jeeyuns thank yooooou guys you're the best and i'm sorry i'm bad at keeping up with it!
under the cut for dash purposes :)
Buck ducks his head and smiles, in that way he does. He looks back up, and his eyes are glistening, but he’s beaming, and Eddie can’t look away.  There’s something about that smile, it never fails to cheer him up. Eddie’s brain is still processing, even though he’s trying to make sure Buck knows he’s supportive.  Because Buck is attracted to men, which Eddie didn’t know. But that’s cool. That’s fine. It’s not like Eddie has issues with that, and while some Mexican-Texan Catholics might have a trifecta of bullshit reasons they do, he’s not one of them. He loves Hen and Karen, and he talked with Josh sometimes about dating and he was the one who told him to ask Carson out. Who he’s not sure if Josh is dating anymore, come to think of it, but still.  And it’s not like he hasn’t been flirted with by more than just girls on calls, and while he’ll never be as comfortable with any flirting from the general public as Buck is, it’s not like he’s been disgusted by it or anything. Honestly, he’s probably a disappointment to anyone hoping he’ll fulfil their hot firefighter fantasy, given that he doesn’t give them much to go on but his professional manner.
eddie 'i don't panic' diaz is definitely feeling cool and normal about this one folks

“I’m still in love with you but... I needed to learn how to love myself too!”
Fanonwriter2023 on AO3
Where CANON and FANON collide!
Season 7 FANON Speculation
Buddie Multi-Chapter Fanfic - Hiatus Reading
Chapter 4 is now available on AO3.
Tumblr media
“I’m still in love with you but... I needed to learn how to love myself too!”
Currently 4 chapters completed: 82.3K words Rated: Mature
One chapter will be posted at a time.
___________ Here are two snippets from chapter 4 because Eddie’s in El Paso and Buck’s in L.A. ___________
Eddie’s offered a job with the EPFD
A few minutes later, Captain Franklin walks around their ladder truck and says, “Eddie Diaz, I’m so glad you decided to take me up on my offer”.
“No, no I’m just here as a courtesy.  You asked if I would come by and I’m here.”  Eddie replies as he keeps shaking his head no.
His response doesn’t seem to affect Captain Franklin because he’s still smiling. “Walk with me and I’ll give you a tour of the firehouse.
Fifteen minutes later, Eddie’s standing in Captain Franklin’s office and he’s not even sure why but he feels like he should at least hear what the captain has to say.
“Have a seat.”  Captain Franklin motions for him to sit in one of the chairs located in front of his desk.
“What do you think about this station?  It’s brand new… it’s only been opened for a couple of months.”
“It’s nice and it reminds me of the 118 because the floorplans are practically identical.”
Captain Franklin nods then says, “I was serious yesterday when I said there’s a spot for you here.  It’s yours if you want it.”
“But I haven’t even applied and it’s mine, just like that?”
“Just like that.  I saw all I needed to see yesterday.  You’re a hard worker and anyone who can handle a situation the way you did yesterday is more than qualified.  I’ve been doing this job for almost 20 years which means I’ll be retiring soon and I want to leave this firehouse in the hands of someone capable.”
__________
Buck argues with Taylor
“I—I uh, apologized for cheating on you and you said we were starting over so don’t blame that bullshit on me because you forgave me remember?”
“Yeah, I remember but I decided while I was sitting in my car with no place to go that you needed to be taught a lesson.”
“A lesson… what the actual fuck, Taylor?  You’re not in a position to teach anyone anything with your unethical ass.  You rushed the Jonah story, you made both the 118 and the LAFD look bad and now the public doesn’t trust us.”
A merciless laugh escapes her.  “Oh, spare me Buckley, please.  Can someone queue the violins for this act Evan Buckley is portraying?”
He huffs because this is ridiculous.  “It’s the truth but you don’t care about that do you? And since you brought up something that happened five years ago, why didn’t you mention how Bobby told you the public has to be able to trust us?  But you only remember the parts you deem worthy, right?  This is bullshit and you’re full of it.”
“Cry me a damn river.  That’s the story of your life, isn’t it?  It’s always about poor Buck the man who always thinks everyone’s out to get him.  The man who thinks no one likes him or better yet the man who believes everyone leaves him.”  She smiles brightly after those words leave her lips.
Buck pulls back because that hurt.  He told her those things about his insecurities in confidence but now she’s throwing them in his face.
“Well… at least people like me!  And I have friends but you steamroll everyone you meet.  It’s no wonder you didn’t have anywhere to go when you walked out on me.  Where are your friends, Taylor?  Oh, that’s right you don’t have any with your mean ass.  So back the hell up off me.”
