hi here's my 31st and final fic this month!!! how the time flies...anyway this fic is set current times-ish (though full disclosure i am behind by two episodes) and is pre-buddie. hope you like it!
It has been a hellishly long week. It’s the tail end of it now, a rainy, windy Saturday evening. Eddie is lying atop his bed fully clothed with his eyes screwed shut, trying to force himself to fall asleep.
It’s not working. He feels like there’s electricity buzzing under his skin, like he can’t quite breathe properly, like there’s a weight sitting on top of his chest.
It’s too much. This week has been too much and the silence of his empty house is too much and he never should have agreed to let Chris go on that overnight trip to the aquarium because if he hadn’t then his son would be here and Eddie would be able to exist.
But he’s alone. The rain drums on the roof and the wind whistles at the window. He gives up on keeping his eyes closed and stares up at the dark ceiling.
He wants…he wants something. He doesn’t know what it is. It isn’t this, though. This crushing weight on top of him and the low-level anxiety rippling through his body.
His phone rings. The sound startles him, momentarily distracts him from himself.
It’s Buck. He picks up, squinting at the bright light of the screen.
“Yeah?” He’s surprised by how normal his own voice sounds.
“Hey, Eddie. Do you wanna come over and, uh, watch a movie or something? I know Chris is at the aquarium and we’re off tomorrow and I’m so bored and I was wondering if you were bored too -”
“Yeah, I’ll be there soon.”
“Great, yeah, okay. See you soon.”
Eddie stares down at his phone for a few seconds. It’s earlier than he’d thought - not even 8:00. The thought of dragging himself up and driving to Buck’s is unpleasant, but the thought of being at Buck’s, of not being alone, of having someone to distract him from everything, is wonderful.
And so he gets up. He’s still dressed, so at least he doesn’t have to bother with that. He scrubs a hand over his eyes as though he’d actually done any sleeping and then grabs his keys and heads outside.
He jogs through the rain to his truck. The chilly air fills his lungs and makes them burn, but it’s pleasant, sort of grounding. He breathes in deeply, inhaling the scent of the rain, then climbs into the driver’s seat and sets off.
It’s not until he’s knocking at Buck’s door that he wonders whether he should have brought something. But it’s too late to do anything about that now.
Buck opens the door and raises his eyebrows. “What, did you lose your key?”
Eddie blinks. His key to Buck’s apartment is in his pocket. He knows he has it. He has no idea why he’d decided to knock.
He shrugs and follows Buck inside. Now that he’s here, he’s all of a sudden not certain that being here is the best idea. He feels…on edge. Like one tiny thing might cause him to explode, to collapse.
“Come on,” Buck says. “I’ve got pizza. It’s a little bit cold, but…”
“I’m not really hungry,” Eddie replies. He tries to smile, to wave it off. He can feel himself failing.
“Hey, is everything okay?”
He can’t not say yes. He figures it’s probably hardwired into his brain.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. Just a little tired.”
“Oh,” says Buck. “We don’t…we don’t have to watch a movie, then.”
But if they don’t watch a movie then there’s no reason for Eddie to be here. And he doesn’t want to go home. Even though he does feel weird, like he isn’t sure that being here is smart when he feels like something in him might crack, he can’t imagine leaving.
“No, no, I’ll be okay. I’ll try not to fall asleep on you.”
Buck shrugs. “If you’re sure. You want anything to drink?”
Eddie shakes his head. All he really wants to do is sit down.
He gets his wish. They sit on Buck’s new couch, which isn’t actually new. It’s secondhand and well-worn. Eddie sinks into it so deeply that he wonders whether he’s going to simply fall through the bottom.
“Any preference?”
Eddie stares at the TV without actually seeing anything. “Up to you.”
Buck deliberates silently but intensely for several minutes. Eddie watches him. And then catches himself watching, and stops.
Buck settles on a movie Eddie’s never seen, some old detective film shot in black and white. Eddie stares at the opening credits until his eyes start to water. God, he’s tired.
He’s not sure how long they’ve been watching the movie - or rather, how long Buck’s been watching and Eddie’s been staring - when Buck gently taps him on the shoulder.
“Eddie.”
“Hm?” He shakes his head slightly, turns to look at Buck.
“You sure you’re alright? You seem…I dunno. Off.”
Eddie shrugs. “It’s nothing.” His chest feels tight again. Maybe he should just leave. It’s the last thing in the world he truly wants, but. He’s put himself upon Buck too many times before.
And by this point he knows Buck doesn’t mind, doesn’t think any less of him for breaking, for being unable to hold himself together. But he can’t entirely force himself to believe that. It’s complicated.
“It’s not nothing to me. If something’s wrong. That’s not nothing, Eddie.”
He shrugs again. Part of him is screaming to just talk, to tell Buck his stupid problems and be comforted about them. Another part is screaming, just as loudly, that he can’t do this, isn’t allowed, shouldn’t want to.
“Eddie, please.”
He takes a breath that kind of shudders on the inhale. “It’s not even…there’s nothing really wrong. It’s just. I don’t know, everything? Not everything. It’s this week. I don’t…a lot of bad calls, Chris was angry at me, weird conversation with my mom, I don’t know. I don’t know why it’s like this.”
“Hey, it’s okay,” Buck says. He’s moved closer to Eddie at some point. Their legs are touching now. Buck’s hand is on his shoulder. “Sometimes it’s just like that, you know? Too much happening all at once.”
“But it shouldn’t - I shouldn’t -”
“I’m gonna stop you right there, Eds. That stuff doesn’t matter. It’s okay to just…to just be overwhelmed sometimes.”
Eddie doesn’t know if he can make himself believe that. But Buck sounds so sincere and he wants to believe it, he thinks. He wants…
He wants a fucking hug. Which is the most embarrassing thing in the world to realize, to admit to himself. He feels his face heat slightly just from the thought. He wants to just be held for a little while and forget about everything else.
But he can’t have this, because he’s incapable of asking and it’s not like Buck can read his mind.
“You still with me?” Buck asks. His hand is still on Eddie’s shoulder, squeezing gently. This is good enough, Eddie supposes. The pressure of Buck’s leg against his and that point of contact, warm and sturdy, on his shoulder. It has to be enough.
Eddie nods a slightly belated response to Buck’s question.
“Is there anything I can do? I mean, I know you said you didn’t want anything to drink but I can make coffee, or tea, or something, or…”
Eddie shakes his head. He closes his eyes. Despite his best efforts otherwise he can feel a pressure in his head, feel the prickling sensation of tears. He’s going to cry over, what, having a rough week? No. Absolutely not.
“Hey,” Buck says. Eddie carefully opens his eyes, looks over again. Buck is looking back at him and he looks so fucking open and concerned and all Eddie can think is how easy it would be to just lean in a little, to rest his head against Buck’s collarbone but he can’t, isn’t supposed to, shouldn’t want to.
And then Buck is leaning forward and Buck is slowly wrapping arms around him and it’s clear he’s just waiting for Eddie to pull away but Eddie absolutely is not going to do that.
After a beat Buck apparently realizes this, too, and then he’s putting a hand on the back of Eddie’s head and running fingers through his hair and Eddie finally does rest his head against Buck’s collarbone.
He can hear Buck’s heartbeat like this, steady and even. Almost immediately the anxiety buzzing beneath his skin goes quiet. There’s still a sort of pressure in his chest but he takes a few deep breaths, inhaling the familiar smell of Buck, and it feels like the weight pushing down on him has lessened.
They stay like this for quite a while, Eddie leaning on Buck and breathing deeply and feeling the tension and stress fade away. Buck, for his part, just holds on, lets Eddie lean on him. His fingers are still in Eddie’s hair and it’s one of the nicest things Eddie has ever felt in his life.
He thinks he’d probably be willing to stay in this position forever, but now that all of the overwhelming sensations have abated, Eddie’s well and truly exhausted. He can’t stop himself from yawning against Buck’s shoulder.
“You tired?” Buck asks.
Eddie sort of nods. He is tired, but he really doesn’t want to move.
“Do you want the bed? I know the couch isn’t the best, so -”
Eddie cuts Buck off with a shake of the head. “Couch is good.”
“Do you…uh, do you want me to stay?”
He does. It takes him several long seconds to work himself up to nod. It feels like admitting something terrible at the same time as it feels like getting something he’s wanted for a very long time.
They do some readjusting - or, mostly, Buck does some readjusting. Eddie is too tired to do much work.
He ends up lying across the couch with his head pillowed on Buck’s legs. Buck’s fingers are once again carding through his hair. It still feels like the nicest thing in the world. Eddie feels…content, for the first time in what feels like ages.
He is finally able to fall asleep.

Fuck It Friday!
Tagged by @smilingbuckley for FIF and @rainbow-nerdss @cal-daisies-and-briars @hippolotamus @wildlife4life @disasterbuckdiaz @wikiangela and @daffi-990 for various others during the week (count this as your Fuck it Friday tag lads).
I took a quick break from writing anything cause I decided it was a great time for a menty b BUT @hippolotamus sent me a photo of a dude in a leather kilt and pointed out how hot Buck would look in it and how he'd be able to pick up Eddie and fuck him against a tree and thus, Kilt Sex Fic was born. Please enjoy the first of hopefully not too many snippets (I aim to have it done either tonight or tomorrow lol)
When Eddie had suggested that he and Buck attend a Scottish festival he’d seen advertised, he hadn’t really expected Buck to take him up on the offer, much less turn up at home two days later with two kilts and a shit eating grin. In Eddie’s mind, they would wander down to the local park where it was being held, he’d sit back and watch as Buck tries to toss logs and fling axes and turn to Eddie with bright eyes and a wide grin that would say “Didya see that? Did I do good?” and Eddie would slowly fall in love with him all over again. However, all that goes out the door completely when Buck dumps the kilts on table in front of him, nearly knocking over Eddie’s coffee cup, and gestures to them proudly. “What the hell are these?” Eddie asks with a quirked eyebrow, poking suspiciously at the tartan with his forefinger. Buck flops himself into the chair beside Eddie and steals a sip from his coffee cup. “Kilts!” he says with a grin and he drags one off the table and holds it up to show Eddie. It’s long, and dark, and made out of what looks suspiciously like faux leather, and almost certainly purchased from a sex shop. “I thought we could wear them to the festival tomorrow!” If Buck had a tail, it would be wagging so hard right now. The kilt beneath the leathery black one isn’t much better. Sure, this one is a bit less obviously leathery, going for a softer, less shiny look, but that doesn’t distract from the thick, studded belt that wraps around the waist. It’s also much, much shorter, probably coming to halfway up their thigh, Eddie reckons. He’s half expecting it to come with a chastity belt. Eddie pinches his nose, trying his best not to laugh because Buck is clearly thrilled with himself, and lets out a long breath. “Buck, sweetheart, I love you so much and I’m delighted that you like these but there is no way I can wear either of these out in public.” The grin immediately falls off Buck’s face and his lips turn down in an admittedly adorable pout. “Why not?” he asks, sounding genuinely confused, “Is it because they’re not proper tartans? There’s no Clan Buckley so I couldn’t use one for my family and I don’t even know what my Mom’s maiden name is, and Diaz isn’t super Scottish so I didn’t look for one of those either, but what’s wrong with these? They look cool!” The fact that they, admittedly, do look cool is not what Eddie’s taking issue with. It’s more the fact that he’s going to have to walk around, in public, with a semi the whole time if Buck goes anywhere in a leather kilt. He’s doomed, done for, absolutely fucked.  And, to make matters worse, Buck stands up from the table and grabs the bigger of the two and deftly wraps it around his waist, doing up the two sets of buckles with quick fingers before he whips his shirt over his head and stands with his arms out from his side, grinning like the Cheshire Cat, and Eddie’s mouth goes dry. Yeah, there is no way he can survive Buck walking around like this. The kilt hugs his hips low and tight, exposing just enough of that perfect v for Eddie’s imagination to run wild as he follows Buck’s happy trail from his bellybutton to where it disappears below the leather. Buck’s intentionally flexing his abs, preening under Eddie’s obvious attention, and looks just like a Greek God. Scottish God? Either way, he looks like fucking dream and Eddie can feel his cock thickening as he drinks in every detail of Buck’s image. Eddie leans back in his chair, his breath hissing out of him like a deflating tyre, and he gestures to the bulge that’s steadily growing in his pants. “That’s why not.”

wip wednesday! 🩹🩺
tagged by the lovelies @prince-buck-diaz @honestlydarkprincess @panbuckley 💗
this is from the nurse eddie teacher buck au! if you wanna be tagged when i post this fic interact with this post
"You know, I almost became a firefighter." Buck says and Eddie raises an eyebrow at him.
"Really?"
"I was kind of a wild card after I graduated high school? I just couldn't seem to settle down." He shrugs. "First I became a bartender, although that didn't last long. Then I worked at a ranch, construction, surf instructor…" Buck starts to count all of his jobs. "And then I went through the academy. Became a probie even."
"What happened?"
"Well, like I said… It was hard for me to settle down. I was a little bit of a fuck up." Buck says sheepishly and self-deprecating and Eddie frowns, wanting to protest at that but at the same time not wanting to interrupt Buck. "I was all over the place and I made pretty serious mistakes— in the moment I didn't think about it but in hindsight I know that I was kind of an asshole. Anyway, one day my Captain had enough of me and fired me."
Buck shrugs, trying to sound casual and like it's not a big deal but Eddie can say the shame underneath his eyes.
"You know, it's probably for the best." Eddie says, half jokingly but also half serious.
You're here with me, after all. Eddie thinks.
Instead, he says— "If you get hurt this much working as a teacher in an elementary school I don't even want to imagine what would happen to you as a firefighter."
Eddie genuinely doesn't. Imagining Buck in danger or seriously, gravelly hurt— it makes a chill run down his spine and goosebumps rise in his arms. It makes this illogical and stupid part of him pull Buck in and wrap him in bubble paper, hide him away from the world and keep him safe forever.
"Yeah, right." Buck huffs, bringing Eddie back to reality.
"With your luck you'd probably end up crashed by the firetruck. Or trapped in a fire." Eddie says, trying to smile but probably failing miserably at it.  "Hell, you have such bad luck that a lightning would probably strike you and kill you."
"That could happen regardless of me being a firefighter or not."
"Please, stop tempting the universe."
"You started it."

we love protective eddie, but you know what we also love? protective buck.
because I KNOW this man can get fucking wild when his family is in danger. if you put yourself in between him and his people, rest assured you will get your ass served in a shining plate.
now imagine if someone tries to get in between him and the Diaz boys. hell would be a fucking vacation compared to what he would do to whoever tries to hurt them. he's protective of eddie, like everyone would be over their loved one and best friend. he has Eddie's back, he would never allow someone or something to hurt him.
and he's protective of Christopher the same way... well the same way a father is protective of their child. you simply can't put yourself in between them. before you even try to, buck would be ripping you into pieces. he gets this wild look on his face (eddie says he took it from Athena), his voice gets deeper, when someone attacks Christopher (it happened once, some idiot saying some passive aggressive insult, and Chris wasn't even present, but buck was ready to kill the guy, father of a classmate or not)

SaL anon here friend, stuck somewhere between cheering "We're back baby!!" and "WTF was that 😳😳😳!!!???". We've got the firefam back and going strong in every way, be it collectively or with their partners, and the vibes have been sorely missed. On the other hand exactly how are we supposed to interpret Buck and Eddie's relationship other than exactly what you're putting on the damn screen Tim??!! There's literally only one logical conclusion to completing the Diaz family once Eddie is asking Buck directly to help him parent, and it sure as hell isn't Folger's coffee Marisol (or KR's mom's best friend). Also when the stage direction for these two is apparently "make a lot of sexual innuendos but with only facial expressions" while Ryan's direction in the Marisol scenes is "act like she's present" 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Anywho, loved this start to the season, it ranged seamlessly from deeply personal to jello talk (to the very non subtle Natalia bashing) and if this is what we're in for I'm very much on board, so cheers friend and let's welcome our show home!!
Yooooo! How are we feeling after that episode?! It was WILD, right? Hands down the best premier episode they've had since season 3. Plus, the emergency for the next two (!!!) episodes looks like it's going to be the heart-pounding and engaging action that actually hits some emotional beats that we've sorely missed! Tim is bringing that sweet, sweet, firefam energy and it's PALPABLE in every scene where the heart of the show lies, and that is with our mains. (We didn't get a lot of Hen, but I feel like she's going to be featured more heavily next week which we probably wouldn't have noticed if the show got a 2 hour premier like the big emergencies used to get.)
The Buddie stuff was....whoo boy. Having the blurry background gf for the flashback to the date, but Buck being the one Eddie goes to when an issue comes up? LOUD! Buck being asked to step in and co-parent when the difficult conversation needs to happen? LOUD! Having Buck and Shannon sit in the same place on the bed to "talk" to Chris? LOUD LOUD LOUD! At the end of the day, I'm just happy we're getting to see Buddie have scenes together and actually SEE that they are best friends and in each other's pockets. But also, like...how are you going to establish that there isn't anyone who can co-parent with Eddie like Buck can and expect anyone to root for either of them forcing some rando into that space?! And don't get me started on that weird serial killer grimace smile Marisol has painted onto her face. She had a blip second of screentime and it was already SO cringe. Can we just be done with that now?
Speaking of done, I am STILL laughing at Tim coming in like, "The death doula was STUPID, it wasn't at ALL what Buck would need or want, and we aren't gonna do it! I planned a scene, but actually we have more important stuff to do!" Meanwhile, the "more important stuff" was Eddie being shirtless while Buck ogles him, Eddie putting his hand on Buck's pulse again while Buck blushes and smiles, Buck talking about sexual tension while walking towards Eddie dick first and holding a fire extinguisher hose in front of his crotch and proceeding to spray it, Buck and Eddie co-parenting seamlessly, and basically Buck and Eddie making heart eyes at each other any time the other did anything. If nothing else, Tim has a WEALTH of info to point back to as signposts if anyone wants to try and argue that Buddie came out of nowhere, like DAMN. Get a ROOM you two!
ANYWAY. I'm stoked for next week! I am ready to see Bobby and Athena going through it while the firefam are fighting to get to them! I am READY to see more Madney being adorable and heartfelt and their scenes being funny while not just being played off for laughs (not that KR was ever able to keep Kenny and JLH from bring the feels in every interaction because they're actually good at their jobs, but you know what I mean). I am dyyyyying to know what Hen and Karen are up to right now, and I am ready to see the whole crew back at work! (I'm also here for any more shade Timmy wants to throw around because some of the comments, and some of the lines in the show have got me like 🤭🤭🤭)
ABC came out swinging with all the promo and having EVERYONE doing interviews (god bless, Oliver needed a break), and the premier episode absolutely backed up all that work and money they put in. I am cautiously optimistic that, at least as far as getting the show back on track to those early season vibes, we are in for some good times and delicious drama that is still human and centered instead of OTT soapy. Cheers and fingers crossed this momentum keeps up and gets people engaged so we can get a full season 8!

When we fell in love
Buddie fic. Heres the ao3 link
When Buck kisses Eddie for the first time he has an audience.
It’s after a particularly tough 5-alarm fire where Eddie's radio got mangled and no one could locate him for ten excruciatingly long minutes. For ten minutes Bucks heart was missing. It was like the well all over again.
Buck ripped off his mask the second Eddie was located and kissed Eddie fiercely. It started angry, furious. In a “Why did you do that way?” and then it got calmer, safer in an “I’m here now, I’m back” way. He was livid at Eddie for being missing but kissing him just made Buck realize he was glad Eddie was safe.
On the ride back Bobby makes him ride in the ambulance. Buck was a bit confused until he got back to the station and dragged Eddie to a supply closet instead of kissing him Eddie stated
“Why the hell did Bobby just give me a dad talk?”
Buck laughed “I don’t know babe. I do see him as more of a dad than the one I was born to”
“Phillip is a piece of work” Eddie agreed “Also I like you calling me babe”
Buck smiled “That he is, and also I like your mouth on mine”
That’s all the conversation they had before they went back to making out (at least until a thoroughly embarrassed Ravi found them)
When they stepped out of the closet Eddie’s neck was covered in hickeys Buck was very proud of.
When Buck and Eddie told Chris they were dating Chris simply rolled his eyes and said he’s suspected so for years. Also, he saw them kissing like wild animals on the news. Eddie had looked at the ground sheepishly and said to stop watching the news. To which Chris replied it helps him know his dad is safe. Which started a back-and-forth that made Buck slowly back away from the father-son duo before Eddie grabbed his arm and proclaimed he was part of this too.
When Buck tells Eddie he loves him for the first time it’s during a heated game of Monopoly. Eddie had just won and Buck was not there for it.
“ Babe I love you and all but you're a fucking cheating asshole and there is no way you actually won that”
Eddie and the rest of the room looked at Buck shocked.
“You, you love me?” Eddie managed out
Buck rolled his eyes “Of course I do you idiot”
A statement that led to them making out in the middle of game night and Chim pelting them with popcorn.
When Buck took Eddie on their first date it was to a crappy Mexican food truck that Buck hated but Eddie loved.
After the food truck, Eddie had taken Buck back to his house, and after Chris was dropped off they had a little family movie night (Even though it was Wednesday).
When Buck moved in with the Diaz boys Buck didn’t even tell Eddie He had slowly started moving stuff over there and eventually, his lease went up for renewal and instead of renewing it Buck just moved the rest of his stuff over. It was a random Tuesday and he just went over and grabbed his stuff and texted Eddie afterward that they didn’t have to worry about the loft anymore. Which cause Eddie to call him up and ask what the fuck was going on and ask for an explanation.
When Buck proposes to Eddie it’s an accident. Buck had just been wheeled into the ER and they said only family can follow and Buck loopy from blood loss replied to the question of if Eddie was family with  “Yes, if he agrees to marry me”. (Buck later clarified he did very much want to marry Eddie)
When Buck married Eddie it was after work the same day and they had passed a courthouse and they decided to just go and get married not wanting to waste a single second not married.
When Buck adopted Christopher it solidified that they were a family and finally, the Diaz men were complete.

Humanised
I’m a simple woman; I see a video, I see a bts photo of Eddie with his hands raised, and my mind starts thinking of all the possibilities.
(I forgot a read more but it’s here now so. Y’know. Apologies for that)
“Eddie!”
Buck’s voice echoed through the warm night air, bouncing off every fire truck and police car on scene. Hen grabbed him by the arm, Bobby right behind and Buck hiccupped as he turned to Bobby. Bobby wrapped Buck in his arms, covering his ears for a moment as Buck held in a sob. That was when they heard it.
“I’m coming out! Don’t shoot!”
Buck lifted his head, eyes widening as Eddie appeared with his hands raised. The shooter appeared shortly after, his gun still to Eddie’s head. Buck locked eyes with Eddie, internally willing him to stay calm even though he knew Eddie was military trained for situations like this.
It was different now, though. He had Christopher to think about. If he died, Shannon wouldn’t be there to-
But Buck would be. He’d keep Christopher safe. Make sure he knew he was loved.
humanised
The hostage negotiator approached Buck and Bobby, clearing her throat.
“I understand that Eddie has military training?” She said. Bobby nodded.
“He does, but he’s been going through a lot personally. We’d prefer it if we didn’t have to give him some signal and hope he got it.”
“I do have another plan. Buckley, you and Eddie are very close. I want to use that, if you’ll let me. You see, that man?”
She pointed toward the man with a gun pointed at Eddie’s head. In the headlights from the police cars, Buck could see Eddie was sweating. He wasn’t crying, but he was definitely sweating.
“That man had a family of his own. A wife, three kids. If we can work with his humanity, and humanise Eddie at the same time, we might have a chance of getting him out of this without force.”
“You mean without shooting him?” Buck snapped. Bobby glanced at Buck, whose shoulders had tensed up and his face had pinched into a tight expression.
“Yes. I want a sniper to be our last course of action, especially because Eddie was shot by one last year and that will instigate too many traumatic memories. He could become catatonic, and we need him switched on.”
Buck opened his mouth to protest, maybe tell the woman that Eddie wouldn’t dissociate like that, but he’d seen it recently. It was more likely than he’d like to admit.
“Okay. What do you want me to do?” Buck finally said.
“Come with me.”
humanised
“Hey, Rodger. My- my name is Evan Buckley. I work with LAFD and that- that guy you’ve got there? That’s my best friend, Eddie Diaz.”
Rodger’s wild eyes looked to Buck, gun pressing harder into Eddie’s temple. Buck winced, watching the way Eddie’s hands shifted from raised in surrender to behind himself. What the hell was he doing?
“What the hell do you want?” Rodger snapped. Buck swallowed.
“Rodger, listen to me. Eddie is a dad; just like you. He- he’s got a little boy. His name is Christopher. He’s ten, nearly eleven. About three years ago, Christopher lost his mom. Just like you lost your wife.”
“How did you-“
“-Rodger, tell me about your kids. You have three, right?”
Rodger blinked, the desperate glance on his face beginning to fade.
“Mackenzie, she’s uh- she’s five. And then there’s… there’s Brooklyn, she’s eight… and Jordan, he’s eleven.”
“Can you imagine how sad- no, how miserable, your kids would be, if you were in Eddie’s position? Rodger, after losing one parent… things are never the same. And I think you know that. Now imagine the pain of losing the only parent they have left.”
Buck took a step forward, pushing into the front yard despite the cops in his ear barking for him not to.
“That is how Christopher will feel.”
“And what about you? You have kids?” Rodger asked. Buck nodded.
“Yeah. I do.”
Eddie looked to him, silently agreeing with the angle Buck was going for.
“You see, Rodger, Eddie isn’t just my work partner. He’s also the first person I want to see when something exciting happens. He’s the first person I can see in a crowd because he provides comfort. There’s some science behind- uh, the idea that the first person you can see in a crowd is the one that you know will keep you safe. I read an article on it. Rodger, your kids look to you just like Christopher and I look to Eddie. Please… don’t take that away from us.”
Rodger blinked. And just like that, the gun was on the floor.
humanised
The cops flooded in, handcuffing Rodger without a second glance at Eddie. They knew the 118; Eddie was in good hands.
“Buck-“
“-it’s okay. I got you.”
Eddie stumbled down the steps, Buck catching him right as his knees gave out. Burying his face into the crook of Buck’s neck, Eddie’s entire body shook with the adrenaline of the situation.
“Is Hen okay?” He whispered. Buck pulled away from their hug, nodding.
“She’s fine. Look.”
Stepping aside, Eddie could see Hen and Bobby jogging toward them. They approached carefully, quietly, until Eddie reached for them.
“Hey, guys,” he croaked. Hen couldn’t take it anymore and hugged Eddie, her entire body relaxing as he gave in to her.
“You’re safe now, it’s okay. How about we get you to the ambulance?” She said. Eddie let her lead him away, leaving Buck and Bobby standing on the front steps.
“That was incredible, Buck. Well done,” Bobby finally said. Buck swallowed.
“What if I’d failed?” He finally said. Bobby shrugged.
“You didn’t. That’s what is important right now. Go and be with Eddie; I think he needs you.”
humanised
In the back of the ambulance, Hen kept her hand on Eddie’s back as she moved, grabbing equipment to check him over. Eddie doubled over, head between his knees. Hen watched him for a second, before she stopped what she was doing and reached for Eddie.
“It’s okay. Just focus on your breathing.”
Eddie suddenly scrambled, hauling ass out of the ambulance to find Buck who caught him at just the right time.
“Hey, hey. Sit down.”
Buck gently guided Eddie back to sit on the back of the ambulance, running a hand through his hair.
“Panic attack?” Buck asked. Eddie nodded, squeezing his eyes shut as tears streamed down his face. Watching Eddie silently cry made Buck feel like he lacked control. He felt Eddie’s fingers tangle into his uniform as he pressed against Buck’s shirt, trying to control his breathing but it was only becoming more rapid. Buck ran a hand through his hair, working out the knots from the gel and the sweat and the panic.
“Copy my breathing.”
Buck took one of Eddie’s hands and placed it on his heart. He watched Eddie’s eyebrows furrow for a moment and Hen reached for an emesis bag just in case, but Eddie seemed to collect himself.
“Can Buck stay while I get checked out?” Eddie asked Hen.
“I was actually going to suggest it,” she said. Together they got Eddie on to the stretcher in the ambulance, thanking god that he wasn’t hurt enough to need a trip to the hospital. While Hen checked Eddie over, Buck stayed by his side. His hand rested on Eddie’s thigh protectively, his gaze on the rest of the world because he was not going to let anyone hurt Eddie if he had something to say about it. Satisfied that Eddie was not in any physical danger, Hen put her stethoscope around her neck.
“I’ll go and tell Bobby everything looks okay.”
“Thanks Hen,” Buck and Eddie murmured. She closed the ambulance doors behind her, granting the two some privacy. The second she was gone Eddie was scrambling off the stretcher to hug Buck. Buck wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist, sighing as his shoulders released all the tension he’d been feeling. He felt Eddie’s entire body slowly stop shaking, his head against Buck’s shoulder. Buck cupped the back of his neck.
“Ready to go home?”
“Yeah. Let’s go home.”

I am so obsessed with this show, I swear I just keep finding stuff to talk about every time I rewatch a scene or have some thoughts. This stuff is just so wild.
More on the subtle Eddie and Buck parallels:
Margaret and Helena are the driving forces while Phillip and Ramon are the enforcers so to speak; Margaret and Helena are the ones that say some truly unforgivable crap: "I don't know what you expected us to do" & "Don't drag him down with you, Eddie" -> both Eddie and Buck are being told in their stories with their parents is essentially that they're not good enough; the Buckleys are grieving Daniel and don't have enough love to give to Buck; the Diazes want Christopher, not Eddie
Both sets of parents are missing/trying to make up for what could have been -> Phillip and Margaret lost Daniel & only had Buck so they could get a match to save Daniel which ended up not working; it's heavily implied that Ramon and Helena regret the decisions they made with their kids, namely Eddie, and want to make up for it with Christopher
Buck and Maddie are in it together growing up, they're a unit (until they're not), and Buck defends Maddie to their parents; Eddie and Christopher are a unit ever since Shannon left, and Eddie is adamant to his parents that Christopher is staying with him and that's what's best for him
Eddie was the absolute best person for Buck to talk to regarding his blowup at his parents, not only because of "I've been down that road. I don't recommend it", "Hey, that's not on you", "What do you have to apologize for? Did you say anything that wasn't true?", "You can give yourself some time, you know. To process", but also because they are literally coming from the same place, in the same position, just with different players involved and slightly different dynamics but still the same
Both were left by the supposed loves of their lives: Shannon and Abby
Both know what it's like to be left behind, knowing exactly how it "feels to watch the person you love walk away"
Eddie is doing his best to be a good dad to Christopher, not only because he deserves it, but to do right by his son, he literally learned from his parents' mistakes, especially Ramon "That little boy has taught me so much more about being a man than war ever could"; Buck is great with kids and is good to Christopher, even though he's not technically a dad yet (in name anyway), he still has learned from his parents' mistakes "You don't just give up on people" "Love me anyway"
Oliver has talked about Buck's reaction in 2x03 when seeing Eddie and Christopher reunite after the earthquake and how he sees a dad who cares very much for his son compared to his own father; then we see not only Eddie being supportive of Buck through the turmoil with his parents in season 4, but we also see him trusting Buck with Christopher in season 3 despite the events of the tsunami and making him Christopher's legal guardian after the 3x15 events which is HUGE considering season 4 delved into Buck's issues and he is made a guardian of Eddie's son (being told that in 4x14), that he is being trusted with someone else's son when he's not their biological parent, the phrase "But no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you and that is what I want for him" is so deeply meaningful that ofc it shocked the hell out of Buck, here he is not feeling like he was ever good enough, that he was disappointing, that he's alone and sad and will always be left behind and that he's expendable and Eddie literally said "fuck that" and dismantled all of that in one fell swoop with that move...
Eddie is literally answering Buck's worst fears and his issues (4x04, 4x05, 4x14) and Buck is answering Eddie's about being a dad, that he's doing the right thing by Christopher, and having support (2x04, 3x12) = complementing one another and filling those spaces each has
Basically, I know Ryan said these two "bring out the best in each other" and yes, that's true but my question is this: if not endgame, WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN???
Interwoven down to the tiniest detail, I tell you. INTERWOVEN

My dear @hmslusitania, yesterday was your birthday, and I intended to have this finished by then, but best laid plans of mice and men and all that. It didn't happen.
It has been so long since I've written anything, let alone shared anything, but this post of yours tickled my muse, and I decided to write you a present. So here, have this half-baked, one day late, hopefully coherent rambling, that grew legs and ran away from me, and know that your stories and the words you share always make me smile. 🥰
As Sure As The Sun Will Rise
It's a shit show, that's all Buck has to say about this shift. It's been a mess from the start.
The day had started out so promising; Buck woke up on the Diaz's couch after sleeping over following their weekly movie night. He made breakfast that morning - Chris's usual request of pancakes featuring the blueberries Buck had bought on sale that week - and then rode with Eddie into work. It was a perfect morning. Normal. And then all hell broke loose.
They still don't know why there are wild animals roaming the streets of downtown L.A., but it's apparently their job to take care of it. Whoopie. Buck might be more excited about the possiblity of wrangling escaped zoo animals if it wasn't Eddie's second week back at work, and Buck wasn't split between keeping an extra eye on his partner and trying to act like he's not.
"Has dispatch got any more details on how all these animals got loose in the first place?" Hen asks again.
"Nothing new," Bobby updates them, "just that there was some kind of malfunction with the zoo's electronic locks, probably from the blackout." Bobby cautiously leads the charge, as the five of them creep forward through haphazardly parked cars. It looks like people just stopped in the middle of the street, abandoning their vehicles to take shelter in nearby buildings instead. "Zoo personnel are still taking inventory of which animals are missing, but at last count it was seven species, and a total of eighteen animals, including lions, camels, and emus."
"Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my," Chimney mutters under his breath. Hen swats at his arm without taking her eyes off her surroundings. They follow behind Bobby, carrying their medical bags, with Eddie and Buck bringing up the rear armed with halligans from the truck.
"Remember, our job is to locate and triage potential victims, and gather people in secure areas. Animal Control is mobilizing to recapture the zoo animals. No one's playing hero today," Bobby chides them gently.
"Copy that, Cap," Buck responds quickly. He can feel his teammates' questioning gazes on him at his ready acknowledgement of their orders, but Buck isn't about to run off half cocked after a wild animal - he has more important things to worry about.
Buck flashes a quick glance at Eddie, catching his partner's eyes for a short moment, before they both go back to scanning their surroundings. Buck can tell Eddie is nervous but trying not to let it show. He's doing a valiant job at it, but it's only his fifth shift back since his medical leave, and here they are, wandering downtown city streets again. Granted, Hollywood Boulevard is far removed from where they'd been the last time- but they're still surrounded by skyscrapers, parked cars... it's throwing Buck for a loop, so he knows Eddie is struggling at least a little bit too.
Bobby sees a group of people inside a nearby building, waving their arms and trying to catch their attention, and directs them toward it. "Let's go check on these people and get them taken care of."
~
The elevator doors must have opened somewhere in the middle of the chaos. Buck isn't sure when or how, since the building's running on emergency power, but he's sure they were closed at the start of all this. All he knows is that one moment Eddie is next to him, distracting the lion and luring it away from Bobby helping a woman with a sprained ankle into a nearby office where Chimney and Hen have gathered the other people hiding from the lion, and the next they're both diving out of the way of the animal's sudden charge out the open front doors of the lobby. Buck lies on the floor, catching his breath and willing his heart rate to go down, while he tracks the lion's progress down the street through the lobby's glass walls.
Once the lion is out of sight, he's searching for Eddie. They'd been side by side, but must have jumped in opposite directions, because while Buck is lying in the middle of the open floor, Eddie is inside the open elevator. Their eyes meet for all of two seconds before an unassuming ding rings out.
Buck is on his feet faster than should have been possible in 20 pounds of turnout gear, racing toward the closing elevator doors and Eddie struggling to get his feet under him, but neither of them are fast enough. The doors slide shut just before Buck can reach them, and he pounds his fist against them in frustration.
Breathe, he reminds himself, Eddie's fine.
Pulling back he hits the call button repeatedly, praying the doors open up. They don't. Instead there's a whooshing noise, and the numbers above the button panel start changing.
Cursing under his breath, Buck sprints for the stairs. He's crashing his way onto the second floor landing when the emergency lights flicker, and a groaning thud comes from the elevator bank. Buck's boots slip on the slick flooring as he tries to make a sharp turn out of the stairwell, and then he skids to a stop in front of the elevator doors. The emergency lights continue to flicker ominously, and the floor indicator number panel is dark.
Buck takes a deep breath. "Eddie?" he calls, fighting to keep his voice steady. Eddie was barely on his knees when the doors closed, and that was before the elevator started going up and then ground to a sudden halt. What if he'd hurt himself jumping into the elevator? What if he'd landed wrong, or been knocked down, and re-injured his shoulder? "Eddie?!"
Eddie's response is slower coming than Buck likes, but it does come. "Buck? I'm okay." The words are muffled through the closed steel doors between them.
Buck sighs in relief. "Hang tight, I'm gonna get you out of there. Do you know where the car stopped?" Hopefully it was in line with the outer doors, and they could just pry them open and Eddie could walk out.
"The number had just changed to three. I'm probably stuck between floors." Eddie's words were faint, but Buck could still hear him.
Great, he thought, just great. "Okay, uh, do you have your halligan with you?"
"Yeah, I do."
"Good! Uh, use it to pry open the doors on your side, and check if you're closer to the second or the third floor. I gotta go back downstairs to get mine, but I'll be right back, okay? I promise. Uh, don't go anywhere."
Buck's pretty sure he heard Eddie call back "Where am I gonna go?", but he'd been running back toward the stairs at that point, and could have imagined it.
~
"Okay Eddie, I'm back. I've got the team with me too. Did you get your doors open?" Buck had run into Bobby, Hen, and Chimney while downstairs, and quickly recruited them to come help him free Eddie. Now, Buck is fitting the end of the halligan bar into the seam between the elevator doors, and preparing to wedge them open.
"I did," Eddie calls back, his voice slightly clearer without half of the block in the way. "I am stuck between floors, but the car didn't get all the way past the second floor, so I should be able to jump out once you get the doors open."
Buck's sigh of relief is perhaps louder than he intended. Bobby walks up to him and clasps him on the shoulder, giving him an evaluating look.
Buck nods that he's fine, he's got this, and adjusts his grip on the pry bar. The lights flicker above them, and the elevator groans.
"Get those doors open now," Bobby orders, waving Chimney over to help. "We don't know what that car's about to do, and I don't want to find out."
Buck pushes, and Chimney pulls, and together they make the doors spring apart. "Eddie!" Buck steps toward him.
"Buck, watch out!" Chimney grabs one of his arms, catching him from over-balancing and falling down the open elevator shaft.
Buck shouts as he's jerked backwards a few feet, eyes not leaving Eddie where he's crouched in the middle of the elevator, less than three feet of clearance between the floor of the car and the top of the doorway, and looking ready to leap out to safety.
Bobby's already calling out new orders. "Everybody freeze! Eddie, hold it. Buck, you okay?"
Buck nods, but doesn't look at Bobby. Eddie still looks startled, mouth dropped slightly open and eyes wide as he looks at Buck. Buck imagines his own expression is probably similar.
The elevator makes a loud, squealing noise and shakes. Eddie catches himself with a hand to the floor and shifts on his feet; his eyebrows furrow and his jaw clenches. He looks determined, and Buck mentally swears at what he knows is about to happen.
Bobby is in the middle of telling Eddie to stay put, he's safer in the car than he is trying to jump out and getting sliced in half if the car drops below the floor, when Eddie launches himself out. The car drops, and Buck surges forward. He catches Eddie and manages a controlled fall to the floor, heart pounding in his throat the whole time.
There's two seconds of silence before the elevator car crashes at the bottom of the shaft.
"What the hell, Eddie?" Buck pants against the side of Eddie's head, breathless with terror he's sure. His arms are locked around the other man, and Buck can't make them let go yet. They're sprawled out on the floor still, Eddie on top of Buck. "Just because you told me I'm your back up plan doesn't mean you get to go throwing yourself into harm's way."
Eddie just huffs a laugh into Buck's neck where his face is pressed.
"Why'd you jump out? You could have gotten hurt."
"I knew you'd catch me."
"How?" Damn, he's still panting. Why can't he catch his breath? He ran like four steps.
Eddie pulls his head back so that he's looking at Buck when he says "You've never failed me before, you're not gonna start now."
Buck is startled enough by that statement that Eddie is able to pull out of his hold and tip over into a seat on the floor by Buck's hip. Hen and Chimney both rush in to check him and Eddie over, Chimney shining a pen light in Eddie's eyes, while Hen helps Buck sit up to check his gaze too.
He slides his hand over until it bumps into Eddie's, the sides of their fingers touching. Buck's not ready to give up the touch, the physical reminder that Eddie is whole, and safe, and there with Buck. Judging by Eddie's gentle pressure against Buck's fingers, he feels the same.
Bobby is still off to the side, frozen where he'd been standing when Eddie flung himself into Buck's arms. He sighs heavily and pinches the bridge of his nose, before dragging his hand down his face and stepping closer. He stops near Buck's feet, and with the tone of a weary father says "I was expecting the return of reckless behavior when you came back, Eddie, but I didn't think it'd be coming from you."
"Yeah, Buck was strangely well behaved while you were out," Chimney adds. "It felt very un-Buck."
"Hey," Buck interrupts softly, "Buck 4.0 is super responsible, I'll have you know."
"Oh, we're on 4.0 now?" Hen asks as she sits back on her heels, finished checking Buck over. "What inspired the level up this time?"
Eddie gives Buck a raised eyebrow when he tries to deflect, saying "I'm just making mature decisions regarding my future, that's all."
Chimney jumps in again with "I thought 3.0 was your 'maturity' upgrade?" He sits back from Eddie and gives Buck a calculating squint. "Why all this sudden worry about your future? What aren't you telling us?"
Before Buck can try to respond, Bobby adds "And what did you mean 'back up plan'?"
There's another few seconds of silence. Buck tries to reboot his brain, glancing up at Bobby and then over to Eddie, wondering how he's going to explain away that slip of his tongue. Hen and Chimney blink owlishly for a moment before they both start asking questions and talking over each other.
Eddie holds his gaze for a brief second, and then tips his head down and quirks his mouth into a half smile. Ah, so he's gonna try to make Buck explain all by himself? Fat chance. "Eddie did it." Buck says, and points to the man next to him. Childish? Yes, but Eddie is just as much at fault for their current predicament as Buck is, if not more, and Buck's not about to let him off the hook.
Eddie looks up at their teammates and raises his hands to hold off their verbal onslaught, and simply says, "I changed my will, made Buck Christopher's legal guardian after me."
That starts Chimney off on another round of wide-eyed blinking, while Hen and Bobby give both of them a calculating look.
"After you got shot?" Hen asks gently.
Eddie shakes his head. "After the well."
"But, that was last year," Chimney points out.
"A year and a half ago," Buck clarifies. "But he only told me after he got shot."
Buck looks over at Eddie, and finds him already watching him. They've had so many close calls, too many really. Another one so soon after Eddie's come back to work just feels like bad luck, like the universe is trying to tell them something. Maybe it's stay away, or maybe stay together. Buck wants to believe it's saying they're better together, that they belong in each other's lives, pulling each other out of the literal and metaphorical fires.
"Did you forget that when one of you is in danger, the other is usually only five feet away?" Chimney asks with a wry half smile. It breaks the moment, drawing a soft laugh from Buck and Eddie, while Hen shakes her head balefully, and Bobby pinches the bridge of his nose again.
"Alright," Bobby claps his hands, drawing the team's attention, "the day's not over, we've still got a job to do."
Buck clambers to his feet and reaches a hand back down to Eddie, pulling him up and into a quick, reassuring hug. Buck steps back and releases him, but Eddie's hand finds the back of Buck's neck, and holds him from pulling fully away. Eddie stares at him intently. "You've always got my back," he says, his casual tone at odds with the promise in the words.
"You just believe that?" Buck wonders.
"Sure I do, same as I believe the sun will rise tomorrow." With a brief squeeze, Eddie releases Buck and turns to help gather the gear spread out on the floor.
Buck stands there for a moment, struggling, again, to come to terms with Eddie's unwavering trust in him.
Bobby comes up to Buck and grips his shoulder. "You okay, kid?"
"Yeah, yeah, just uh- just mentally preparing myself for the rest of this crazy day," Buck stammers out.
Bobby nods, accepting his excuse, but says "We'll talk later, okay?"
Buck nods, and takes a deep breath. He can do this, they can do this. Eddie comes back over with both of their halligans, and hands Buck's back to him. They've got this, they're good. They nod to each other, and follow the rest of the team down the stairs. They can make it through the rest of this shit show of a shift, they've got each other's backs.

WIP meme: circles make a man go wild (also polite encouragement for you to write the clipboard buck fic you want to see in the world <3)
hey anon!
circles make a man go wild is the hostage fic i’m working on — aka the BANE of my existence bc i keep. rewriting. i should know better by now. spec fics give me anxiety.
anyway, the premise is has to do with the aftermath of it all. eddie’s relationship with guns over the years. and that time maddie said about Buck. “Yeah, he’s good at that. Seeming fine.”
i’m very excited about the style! it’s written in mixed tenses (flashbacks and present) which was something i always wanted to try but never found the right fic for. it’s gonna be angsty as hell though, and quite longer than i usually go for.
and listen, i don’t even know WHAT i want to see in a clipboard fic. captain buck? buck bringing a clipboard (list) EVERYWHERE — when baking at the diaz house, shopping with eddie, etc? the 118 collectively asking why bobby constantly makes him the power czar while eddies suspiciously silent (finds it hot)? so many ideas! help me out people!
as you can see, i love to ramble. thanks for playing anon!
ask me about my wips!

This episode. 911 Fox: Season 5 Episode 4: Home and Away Lets go. I got a lot going on in my head.
Can I just say- I like this episode so much better than last week.  Okay okay.  I have a lot to say. But I’m going to wrap this up in a bow and make it nice and tight, since I liveblogged throughout the episode. This is going to be over the place yet clumped together.  First and Foremost: all the awards to Kenneth Choi and his acting! He did so good. Guys. ALL THE FEELS! Like he did sooo good. Like I’m still emotional about it.  The scene where he was unloading to the doctor. I was like- “WHY!”  BUCK KNEW! Well he knew about Chim, and Buck being not surprised that Maddie left. And him knowing in his heart that he was going to come home.  Like- guys! HE KNEW! HE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED TO JEE! And he kept that from Chim. Like I wanna be mad-but I’m like damn I’m not.  I was not expecting that punch. Holy crap. I was not. I have a lot words and thoughts on this. But the first part of me is going- you should not lay your hands on anyone. So.....I hope that when Chim returns he apologizes to Buck for that punch.  I did enjoy the content where they were talking to each other over the Maddie situation. My brOTP! Hen and Chim! Best friends! Them hugging each other. Hen telling him, “You better come back!” (UGLY CRYING).  So now they took Chim away. They took away Maddie now Chim. Why!?  Next Topic:  You know at first I was like- I don’t know how I feel about Eddie and Hen being partners and after this episode, I’m kind digging it. I think I’m going to enjoy them working together.  Eddie and his working in a war zone comment.  Okay- I already was like “HEN WHY!” when she was like, “No I need to this” when she had to go break the news to the parents. I legit yelled, “Damn you Aisha why! You too! You gonna make me have feels.” She made me had the feels.  I KNEW IT! I had a feeling. I was hoping for the they were in love-but the identifying the wrong bodies was a nicer twist. Because as parents how heartbreaking is that. Thinking that and so grateful that your daughter has survived-but to suddenly have the rug pulled and then you went from your daughter is alive to now she’s dead. Ryan did so good in this scene too.  Next Topic:  I’m so HAPPY THAT HARRY IS IN THERAPY! SOOO HAPPY! And I called it, I was like, I knew he was going to be angry at his mom. And he can be, his feelings are valid. He is going to be angry at his dad and his mom. So I’m already happy with this story line-because I was like YES! Please let him be angry and upset because he went through something traumatic he has to feel something about it! I love the Harry and May sibling content. THAT WAS SO SWEET!  And Athena  finding out that he was in the house- I was so glad she went through all the clothes and washed them. Then she went super in cleaning mode. And oh my god. Angela Bassett, SHE DID SO GOOD TOO! The acting in this episode.  All of them- all the awards.  All the awards to Kenneth. Then awards to Aisha.  Then awards to  Angela. Then some to Ryan. Because while there was no big emotions- he does good with his facial expressions.  I touched based on the big ones.  Now some shout outs.  I am not sure how I feel about this Claudette lady and how she is with May.  A WILD ALBERT APPEARS! He was so adorable. RAVI CONENT!  Bobby in his office! We are slowly getting more glimpses into the 118 Fire Station. - Next please show us the bunk room.  BUDDIE ON THE BALCONY! GUYS! BUCK HAS A BALCONY! A nice ass balcony. Buddie moment on the balcony. Eddie helping Buck nurse his eye.  Eddie Diaz with the damn heart eyes again.  Eddie giving Buck another view to look at. Dropping some advice and wisdom.  BUDDIE! I am takiing it and running.  This was so much better than last week’s mess. I mean yes it was like total feels and angst this episode. WTH! I was not ready! Now time to go and reblog the hell out of shit.

2.18 (rewatch) spoiler Thoughts
- That is wild. The backpack at the school was thought to be a bomb because no kid claimed it. The kid who actually owned the bag? Didn’t claim it because she didn’t want the tuna sandwich. She is not in trouble, nor does she need to be, but that is wild. - That was a nice conversation Athena had with Harry and May about the wedding. Love that open communication. - Screw you Ramon and Helena, or whatever the moms name is. Swooping in after Shannon’s funeral, when Eddie is vulnerable, to try and take him and Christopher away from the life they’ve built in LA. The Diaz parents clearly think they “know what’s best.” They only care about Christopher, in their own way, more than they do about Eddie. That’s clear. Hell yeah for Eddie saying he knows what’s best for Christopher. - Wow, the stupidity of some people. The couple at the race track? Wow. - Woops, I forgot about Ali. Hi Ali. Also, she and Buck were a little inappropriate in front of the realtor. Dudes. - The chat on the influencers phone? One of them saying, “omg they’re so cute together” and another “they should be a couple” about Buck and Eddie. Hello??? 👀 - Yoooo while the explosion looked great, but it’s clear that no one was actually thrown from the truck. But you know, cut to a different shot and suddenly 2-3 had been thrown? No idea how Buck, sitting in the front, could have been thrown out the way he was. But *flaps hand* TV magic and suspension of disbelief and all that. No worries, I’ll go with it! - Catch me tearing up at bystanders running in to help lift the fire truck. Good people doing good things. 😩🥺 - Eddie’s little “Almost” in reference to Buck, after Hen said, “Things are finally starting to get back to the way they should be.” 👀 👀 - Oh huh, I forgot that Ali calls Buck, Evan. Huh. Points though for Ali and Buck having chemistry, unlike you know who. - Maddie and Chim! Yessss. - Christopher being the cutest kid. 🥺

okay, hear me out...
What if the boys weren’t wrong about playing the Orpheum being their unfinished business but they were just wrong about who they needed to play that show with?
What if their unfinished business was to play the Orpheum with BOBBY (Trevor) because that’s what they ALL wanted to do TOGETHER before they died...
Bobby was their best friend, he was their family and they were his.... 😭
Anyway if anyone needs me I’ll be sobbing about that theory in my bed for the foreseeable future

T-shirt (Jason Todd x Reader)
Summary: Y/N is Dick’s partner in the GCPD, but she’s been seeing Jason for a while behind his back even though there’s an active warrant for Red Hood’s arrest.
A/N: I’m not sure what genre this is. A bit of fluff, mostly angst? With a happy ending though. I’m sorry I couldn’t make up my mind, lol. My playlist is a mess, so I guess my writing is too.
Warnings: Innuendos and language, but I mean it’s Jason what are you expecting?
Word count: 2.2k
Jason didn’t know how he’d gotten so lucky. Maybe life had finally realized how unfair it had been to him. Maybe she was life’s way to balance things out.
Jason didn’t know and, frankly, he didn’t care. All he knew was how much he loved her.
“You’re staring” Her sing-song voice pulled him from his thoughts.
“Only because I am graced with a vision of the most beautiful woman to ever walk this earth wearing my T-shirt.” He replied playfully.
She laughed, her eyes glinting with amusement. She moved gracefully around the room only illuminated by the tv light.
“Well, your T-shirt’s a lot more comfortable than that dress.” She’d gestured to the discarded silky number she’d worn the previous night.
Jason stood up letting his feet carry him quickly to her side. Seeing her wearing his clothes drove him crazy. He was hoping to convince her to come back to bed with him.
“Anyway, I’m going to jump in the shower before I get back to the precinct.” She continued.
Well, there goes my plan, he thought bitterly. Unless…
He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her against him, resting his chin on her delicate shoulder. He let his lips brush the shell of her ear. “Want company in there?”
She turned around in his arms and gently laid a hand on his chest. That was easy. “We both know we need to stop doing this, Jason. I should be arresting you. Not sleeping with you.”
Here they went again. They had been having this exact argument for three months now. Every time Jason thought they’d moved past it she’d bring it up again. They had never talked about their feelings, but Jason hoped there was more to it than their wild nights. “Is that really what you want, Y/N?”
“Does it matter? What would Dick say if he found out about –” she paused, gesturing between them “whatever this is? He asked who I was seeing, even commented on my outfit choice, you know? He’s my partner I can’t keep lying to him.”
‘Whatever this is’? That’s all it is to her? Jason had been hurt before, hell, he’d even been killed by the Joker, but nothing had ever felt quite like this. It was as if all the air had left his lungs and his heart was turning to dust in his chest.
He let his arms fall back to his side and took a step back. “Fine. Don’t forget to lock up on your way out.” He grabbed a hoodie and quickly pulled it over his head.
“You’re leaving? Jason, come on, don’t be ridiculous.” She was clearly just as exasperated as he was.
“I think it’s better for me to leave before you decide to arrest me. That’s your job, right? What would my dear brother say if he found out you had the opportunity to finally bring me in and you chose not to? Golden boy wouldn’t like you quite as much now, would he?” His voice sounded harsh to his own ears, but he was so tired of losing everything to his brother.
She was staring at him, shock evident on her beautiful face. Jason wanted to take it back. He shouldn’t have lost it on her like that.
“I wouldn’t arrest you, Jay, but keeping this up puts me in a difficult position, both with Dick and with the department.” Her voice held traces of desperation and pleading but Jason was too angry to understand what it truly meant.
Jason felt his jealousy bubble up in his chest. “You’re right, it’d be a lot easier for you to sleep with your partner. Only a bit of HR paperwork and everything would be set, wouldn’t it?”
“You know what, Jason? Maybe it would be easier. It’s not like Dick hasn’t hinted at it before.” She had practically been yelling at him. She lowered her voice and continued: “He’s nice enough, I suppose. Attractive too.” He’d never seen her like this; her expression ice-cold, her voice void of any emotion.
They stood, facing each other, unmoving, for what felt like an eternity. He didn’t know what to say. He wanted to take it back, to apologize, to kiss her, to tell her he loved her, but her words hung in the air, forming an unbreakable barrier between them.
She finally turned away from him, but not before he had a chance to glimpse the tears welling in her eyes. He’d finally pushed her too far. She closed the bathroom door behind her. Jason heard a quiet sob escape her before he heard the rush of water hitting the shower tiles.
Jason knew he’d fucked up. Should he leave as he had intended? Or should he stay? He could try apologizing, though he doubted it’d do much good considering how far they’d taken things this time around.
“Fuck.” He threw the closest mug at the wall.
Why did he always push people away? He didn’t deserve her anyway. Maybe it was best to cut her from his life. She was right, after all. He was a liability for her. He kept her from doing her job.
He still hadn’t made a decision by the time she shut the water off. Was he going to make one last stand? Was he finally going to tell her how much she actually meant to him? Or was he simply going to cut his losses, like he’d done with every other person he’d ever loved, like he’d done with his family, like he’d done with his brother?
It was almost funny, he’d been scared of so many things in his life, he’d faced so many challenges, but somehow, he had never been more terrified than in this exact moment.
She stepped out of the bathroom, water dripping from her long hair onto an already damp spot on her work shirt.
“Y/N” She didn’t answer, she simply stood there, looking at him, obviously waiting for him to continue. Jason took a deep breath. “I took things too far.”
The only response he got from her was a quick nod.
Alright, he thought, I’m going to have to do better than this. “I’m sorry, Y/N. I didn’t mean what I said earlier. I know how important your job is. You and Dick are some of the best detectives in Gotham. I don’t want to put you in a tough spot, but I can’t just let you go either.”
“Is this what we’ve come to, Jason? You’re threatening me?” Her eyes were set ablaze with a fresh wave of anger.
“No! God, no! Fuck, I’m just… I’m not great with feelings. I just don’t know how to say it. I’m not threatening you. I would never hurt you, Y/N. You have to know that! I just – I don’t want to lose you.” He was desperate. How could he make her understand?
She seemed unsure, a puzzled expression painting her features. At least, she didn’t seem to fear or hate him anymore. It was a step in the right direction, he supposed.
A crazed chuckle escaped the back of his throat. Her eyebrows furrowed further. “Shit, this isn’t going well, is it?”
She crossed her arms, her eyes studying him closely. “No, it isn’t.” She admitted.
“I don’t want you to get with Dick. I don’t want to lose you to him.” Anger flared in her eyes again. “Or to anyone really.” He added quickly. “Not that I own you, of course! You aren’t anyone’s. I mean you are your own person and – ”
She cut him off with a laugh. “Wait. Jay, are you trying to tell me you acted like a complete idiot because you like me?”
“I – I mean, I wouldn’t say a complete idiot but… uhm, yes? And well I don’t like you. I think I might, kind of… you know?”
Boy, did he feel stupid right now. He’d faced countless villains and criminals on his own, even the joker! –okay, that one hadn’t gone exactly well but still – And now? He couldn’t even tell the woman he loved how he felt.
“No, Jaybird, I don’t think I know.” A playful smile tugged at her lips.
He felt his cheeks heat up, a blush spreading quickly over his face and neck. He might very well die from embarrassment, but at least she wasn’t mad anymore.
“I – Well, I – Fuck! I love you, Y/N.” He stammered. He couldn’t look at her. He couldn’t bear to see the rejection in her eyes. He knew that was what was inevitably coming his way. He didn’t deserve love. He didn’t deserve her.
“Hey, Jay.” She took a few steps forward, coming to a stop a few inches away from him. “Jay, look at me.” Her cool fingers rested on his chin, turning his head towards her. “Jason, please.” He tore his eyes from the floor, meeting her gentle gaze.
Hey, at least she was going to let him down easy, right?
“I love you, Jason Peter Todd.” She giggled softly, probably at his awestruck expression. “I guess we were both complete idiots. We’ve been arguing for months because we were too scared to share our feelings with each other.”
Jason couldn’t quite believe it. He had to be dreaming. Even if it was true, it didn’t solve their main problem. “But, what about arresting me? What about your job? What about Dick?”
“We’ll figure it out, Jay. Together.” She seemed to hesitate for a moment. “It doesn’t change anything about my job, but… Dick misses you, you know? He’s mentioned you quite a few times in the past few weeks. I don’t mean to overstep, and I certainly don’t mean to push you if you aren’t ready, but I don’t think he’d arrest you either if you were to reach out to him.”
Jason pondered this new information for a few seconds. Could it be? Could he really be happy with the woman he loved and start mending things with his brother? “You really think so?”
She smiled lovingly. “I do.”
“It would make it easier for you if you didn’t have to hide me from him, wouldn’t it?” She deserved the world. Surely, he could reach out to his brother. It’s not like he hadn’t thought about it before. Not that he would ever admit it, of course.
“It would, but you don’t have to do it for me. I want you to reach out only if and when you are ready, Jason. I’m not pressuring you and you don’t have to decide right this second.” She placed a gentle kiss on the corner of his mouth.
He nodded. “I’ll consider it. Maybe I do miss him too… in a weird, unexpected way.”
“Until you decide, I won’t tell him anything. He can keep guessing about who I’m seeing. It keeps things interesting.” Her amused smile was contagious. Jason felt a smile of his own tugging at the corner of his lips.
He leaned in tentatively. They may have finally confessed their feelings, but the argument and harsh words they’d exchanged were still fresh in his mind. She closed the distance kissing him properly this time.
Jason could’ve sworn the earth had stopped spinning on its axis. It felt like time had completely stopped. It certainly wasn’t the first time they kissed, but it felt different this time. He could feel her love and passion with every subtle movement of her soft lips against his own.
Some sort of buzzing sound resonated in the distance, but he chose to ignore it. He never wanted to stop holding her, he never wanted to stop kissing her like this.
The incessant buzz of her phone forced them to pull away. A quick glance at the display informed them of just who wanted to reach her this badly.
“As much as I’d love staying here, with you, right now, I’m already late and you are going to have a surprise reunion with Dick if I don’t get to the precinct soon.” Her voice sounded breathy; her cheeks sported an adorable pink flush.
He groaned. He didn’t want her to go.
She planted one last kiss to his lips, slipping from his grasp.
“We’ll pick up from where we left off when I get home tonight.”
“Home? Does this mean you’re moving in?” Jason knew he was grinning like an idiot.
“If you want me to?” Why did she sound unsure? He’d be the biggest idiot on Earth if he let this opportunity go by.
“Of course, I want you to move in!” He spun her around a few times, holding her waist tightly, before pulling her into another passionate kiss.
She laughed, a beautiful melodic sound if he’d ever heard one. “Alright Jaybird. I really need you to put me down because I’m pretty sure Dick is going to file a missing person report if I keep ignoring his calls.”
He put her down gently, already missing the feeling of her body against his. “Fine, but you’re gonna have to make this up to me tonight.”
“Don’t worry, babe, I will.” She winked before running out the door, her jacket thrown over her arm, boots untied.
Jason smiled contentedly. It might never be easy for him, but he’d been right. She was life’s way of making it up to him. He sure as hell wasn’t going to fuck it up again.

Bruce Wayne’s galas were always elegant affairs where the elite of Gotham flaunted just how rich they really were. Y/N liked to get dolled up for the events, but there were only so many dances and meaningless conversations with rich assholes she could endure. She’d chosen to wear a particularly revealing dress knowing that men were a lot more generous when they were distracted by the sight of her body in a skintight backless dress. She had done her job; she’d spent the last two hours suffering the hungry stares and unwelcome touches of many trust fund babies and older rich men.
But enough was enough. She wanted out of this situation.
“Come on, Dick. If we go through the kitchen, we can even grab food and a few bottles.” Sure, convincing him would take a bit of effort, but it was well worth it if she could escape this miserable party to spend time with her annoyingly good-looking best friend. It was unfair how good he looked in his tux.
“Y/N, Bruce wants us at this party. We’re supposed to be charming a few investors.” He always played the role of Bruce’s obedient son to perfection… but she knew him too well.
“Trust me, you’ve already charmed every single woman in this room… probably half of the men too.” She laughed at his incredulous expression. “Anyway, I’m quite sure my dress has done the job for the very few who haven’t been charmed by your pretty face.”
His cheeks reddened slightly, his eyes traveling up and down her body. “It’s a –” He cleared his throat. “It’s a nice dress.” He sounded a bit flustered. Was he actually flustered because of her dress? If only… It was stupid really, he would’ve made a move by now if he was interested. This dress wasn’t going to make a difference… but she’d press the advantage just in case.
She took a step closer. She raised a hand to adjust his tie. “I know you, Dick Grayson. You want to leave just as much as I do.” She made sure to let her fingers seductively trail down his chest, looking up to him with pleading eyes.
He groaned. “You are impossible.”
An amused chuckle escaped her crimson-painted lips. “Maybe, but you love me anyway.”
The shadow of some unidentified emotion crossed his face, but it was gone too quickly for her to understand what it had meant.
He rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s go then.”
She knew she always won, he couldn’t say no to her, but it felt incredibly nice to have his hand slip into her own as they ducked through the ballroom door.
-----
She kicked her stilettos off her feet swiftly before sitting next to Dick on the carpeted floor of the dimly lit den.
The few platters of hors d’oeuvres, a bottle of champagne, and a bottle of tequila they’d stolen from the kitchen were spread out on the small wooden table in front of them. They had taken the necessary precautions so the caterers didn’t see them, but it wouldn’t take long for the Batman to figure it out.
She reached for the champagne, taking a sip before passing it to Dick. It was pleasantly quiet this far from the party. She let out a contented sigh when her head came to rest on Dick’s shoulder.
They sat in comfortable silence, eating a few bites between easy conversations, and passing the bottle back and forth for a while. Dick finally got up to put the empty bottle of champagne back on the table. He used to opportunity to make himself a bit more comfortable.
She watched as he pulled off his tux jacket, throwing it on the couch behind her, and loosened his tie. He was truly a sight to behold with his hair slightly out of place and the top button of his collar undone.
He was looking directly at her.
“Why do you let them touch you like that?” His question took her by surprise. She didn’t think he’d have noticed. How did he notice? Had he been watching her?
She considered his question carefully. She knew how it must look from his point of view. She was practically whoring herself out, at Bruce’s request, to con rich men out of their money. The fact that it was for charity didn’t make it much better.
“Well, it’s kind of why Bruce invites me to these things.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “It makes it easier for me to charm them. They are more generous if they are distracted by the prospect of getting me out of my clothes. They like feeling wanted by a beautiful woman. That lets me seduce them out of more of their money. It benefits whatever charity Bruce chose.”
He was staring directly at her as if searching her face for something. He didn’t seem satisfied by her answer.
“Bruce knows?” his tone was guarded but she knew him well enough to know he wasn’t happy.
“Of course, he does.” His brows furrowed further. “I don’t like it, Dick, but it’s for a good cause. I can take care of myself. I don’t need B’s protection. Anyway, I never let them get too handsy.”
He relaxed a bit sitting back in his place next to her, wrapping an arm around her bare shoulders.
“I know how capable you are, sweetheart, but I still don’t like seeing their hands all over you.”
She sighed, leaning in closer to him. “I’m glad we left the party. It’s been a while since we spent time together, just the two of us. It’s nice.”
Getting drunk with Dick after sneaking out of one of Bruce’s elaborate parties was nothing new. So why did it feel so different this time around?
----
Dick felt a pleasant warmth spread in his chest. She’s glad it’s just the two of us? He reached for the tequila and took a swig. Maybe if he got drunk enough, he’d forget how badly he wanted to kiss her. She just didn’t think of him that way. He couldn’t risk their friendship.
He should definitely say something though. She was probably waiting for an answer. “I can’t believe I let you convince me to abandon my post at the gala. Bruce is going to be so mad.”
She laughed softly, gesturing to the now-empty platters in front of them. “Don’t forget, Boy Wonder, I also turned you into a thief.”
Dick laughed. It was true not only had he deserted his post for her, but he’d also stolen from the kitchen. Bruce would be furious when he found out. Dick simply couldn’t bring himself to care, though. “You are a terrible influence, Angel.”
She pushed herself away from him. Shit, I fucked up, he thought nervously. She slowly turned her body towards him, leaning a bit closer now that she could see his face. She raised a graceful eyebrow. “If I truly am so terrible Mr. Grayson, why do you always go along with my plans?”
Dick’s first thought was that her tone had been flirtatious, but it couldn’t be right? She was just teasing him. They were friends, that’s what they did. He watched her take a sip of tequila, carefully crafting an answer.
Because I’m in love with you. Have been for years. I want to kiss you. I want to make you mine. I want to wake up next to you for the rest of my life.
His mind was reeling with all these answers. He couldn’t say it though. He couldn’t lose her. “That’s a good question. Isn’t it what friends do? Go along with each other’s crazy plans?”
He could’ve sworn he saw something resembling disappointment flash in her eyes. Was it because he had called her a friend? No, that was wishful thinking. It was ridiculous. They were friends. No matter how much he wished they could be more.
The smile she wore would’ve fooled anyone else, but Dick knew her too well. “Yeah, I guess they do.” She’d opted for an easy way out.
He closed his hand around hers to bring the tequila back to his lips. He watched her carefully. He was playing with fire, and he was bound to get burned. Her eyes had followed his movements, but they lingered on his lips long after he’d lowered the bottle.
She finally brought her eyes back to his. Her cheeks flushed when she realized he’d caught her staring. It was funny how adorable that made her. She looked absolutely gorgeous, her face nicely flushed, wearing bright red lipstick and this goddamned dress.
Dick could understand why the men at the ball had been so enthralled by her. He had wanted her for a long time. What she wore didn’t matter, whether it be her black vigilante suit, her training clothes or her pjs, she was beautiful. However, it had been incredibly difficult to control himself when he’d seen her in that dress. It was so tight that it practically looked like a second skin. It hugged all her curves perfectly. The neckline was ridiculously low, revealing quite a bit of cleavage. It was driving him completely crazy.
She still hadn’t moved. She was still facing him, her face quite close to his own. His hand was still gripping hers. He let his eyes wander down her body and back up to her plump lips.
Fuck. It was getting ridiculously hard not to kiss her. Not that it was the only thing getting hard, actually.
He couldn’t fight the urge any longer. He leaned in, cradling her cheek in his hand, and delicately pressed his lips to hers. Finally kissing her beautiful soft lips felt even better than he could’ve ever imagined.
The realization came crashing down. Oh shit, he was kissing his best friend… His very drunk best friend. He pulled back and dropped his hand like her skin was suddenly burning him.
“Fuck, I’m so sorry, Y/N. I shouldn’t have – ” He never got to finish his apology. She had pulled him back into a passionate kiss.
----
His lips still tasted of champagne and tequila. It really was intoxicating. She broke the kiss to catch her breath, resting her forehead against his. “Took you long enough, Boy Wonder.”
He let out the most adorable chuckle. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.”
They both had been incredibly stupid. How much time had they wasted pretending they were just friends? She leaned back to look at his infuriatingly gorgeous face. She let a flirtatious smile play on her lips. The loving expression on his face made her want him even more. “Anything else you’ve been wanting to do, Dick?”
A mischievous smirk appeared on his face. His hands landed on her hips, roughly pulling her on his lap. “It’d be much easier to show you, love.”
His lips were back on hers in an instant. He was an incredible kisser, but it was difficult to focus on his lips when his hands seemed to be everywhere, leaving a burning sensation in their wake every time they encountered her bare skin.
A gasp escaped her lips when he grabbed her ass firmly, pushing her up on his lap. She felt his hips buck forward in search of friction as her core brushed lightly against his hard length. She moaned into the kiss.
His lips left hers suddenly drawing a plaintive whimper from her.
“Don’t worry, Angel. I’m not going anywhere.” His voice was hoarse, full of desire.
She shivered when she felt his lips brush against her jaw lightly. He started pressing open-mouthed kisses down her throat. He was going to drive her completely mad. She needed more than he was giving her.
“Dick…” she breathed out. She couldn’t form a coherent sentence, but he seemed to get the message. His soft kisses turned rough. He nipped and sucked at her skin undoubtedly leaving dark purple marks she’d have a hard time covering in the morning. She couldn’t care less. She was incredibly turned on at the thought of being marked by him – of being his to mark.
One of his hands was fumbling with the clasp of her dress situated at the nape of her neck while the other one roughly cupped her breast through the silky fabric.
She rolled her hips against him, earning a deep groan from her best friend – or former best friend? best friend turned lover? Boyfriend? That’s something future them would have to figure out. All she cared about right now was getting him naked.
“No teasing.” He growled when she rolled her hips again. She couldn’t help the loud moan that escaped her lips as he wrapped his hand tightly around her throat.
He arched a questioning eyebrow at her, an amused smirk stretching his lips. “So, miss ‘strong independent woman’ likes being choked, hmm?”
She felt her cheeks heat up, but all she could do was whimper softly in response. His fingers flexed, digging deeper into her skin. He pulled her closer to him capturing her lips roughly again before releasing her throat. Both hands dropped to the zipper of her dress, pulling it down quickly.
“Take this godforsaken thing off, my love.” His warm breath caressed her skin with each pant he breathed out.
“I thought you liked my dress.” She said, getting up. She resented the loss of contact between them.
The playful smile he’d adorn grew more wicked. “I do, I just think it’ll look much better once it’s on the floor.”
She rolled her eyes but watched him intently as he pulled off his tie and started to unbutton his dress shirt.
“Come on, darling. I want to see you. All of you.” She felt her cheeks flush once again, but she complied. She let her dress fall at her feet, carefully stepping out of it once it reached the floor.
Dick had taken the opportunity to stand up as well, shrugging his shirt off. His defined abs and pecs made him look like he’d been sculpted by the Gods themselves.
She watched him carefully as he approached her. Her heart hammered frantically in her chest. Are we really doing this?
His hands found their way to her waist, pulling her harshly against him. “You look perfect, angel.” He breathed out against her neck.
A shiver traveled down her spine. His lips were attached to her shoulder while his hands explored her body. She didn’t think she’d be able to stand much longer, her legs were shaking under her weight.
Her hands reached for him, one holding tightly to his muscular shoulder, trying to hold herself up, while the other worked to rid him of his pants. Why do they have to be so fucking tight? I mean… great for his ass but Jesus Christ! I want them off. Now.
There was no getting around the issue. She couldn’t get them off while trying to hold herself up. So, she figured it’d be easier to just get him to take them off himself. She let her fingers brush against the strained fabric still covering his cock. A small grunt escaped the back of his throat.
“I thought I said no teasing?” He growled at her.
Alright, this might just work. “Oops, sorry, Sir.” She kept her voice innocent, but her eyes made it clear she was well aware of what she was doing to him. She brushed her fingers against him a bit more firmly. She felt his hips buck into her hand, searching for more friction.
Her legs finally gave out when he harshly bit down at the junction of her neck and shoulder. A pained gasp escaped her as her back hit the cushions. He’d used the distraction to his advantage and had thrown her on the couch.
“Didn’t know you were such a brat, Y/N. I guess I’ll have to teach you a lesson.” His voice was low, almost threatening.
Oh, she realized she might have misjudged the situation. She hadn’t thought he’d be quite so dominant. Well, she guessed it made sense. He didn’t really have control for part of his life. It was only logical he’d seek control in one area.
Fuck. She had never been more turned on in her life. She whimpered when his fingers trailed down her legs, dragging her lacy underwear at the same time.
He knelt back between her legs and examined her; a wicked grin plastered on his face. “Already so wet for me, baby.”
He pressed soft kisses on the inside of her thighs, his fingers rubbing small circles on her bare hips. He started nipping and sucking at her skin soothing the sting with his tongue.
“Dick” she pleaded. He was getting so close, but every time she thought he would finally reach her soaked core he’d kiss down her thigh and up the other one.
She felt him smirk against her skin. He looked up at her from between her thighs. It was probably the hottest thing she’d ever seen. “Didn’t I tell you I was going to teach you a lesson?”
“I’ll be good. I won’t tease you again. Please, Dick.”
He leaned back in, kissing her thigh again. “Di – Oh!” She felt his tongue slowly travel from her entrance to her clit. He circled her swollen nub with his tongue a few times, before leaning in closer and sucking on it. She felt her pleasure grow hot and tight in her lower abdomen.
She tried to keep her moans to a minimum. She knew there could be party-goers anywhere on the first floor, but it grew more difficult when Dick slipped two nimble fingers between her slick folds. He started pumping his fingers in and out of her at a steady pace he matched with his tongue.
Her fingers gripped his locks tightly, her brain too lost in pleasure to think of anything other than him. “Oh, oh my god, Dick!” She panted; her lungs were screaming for air. He kept going, sucking her clit harshly again. “Fuck I’m – I – Dick!”
He shushed her. “It’s okay, baby. Cum for me.” She came undone the moment his tongue made contact with her swollen clit, his fingers never stopping their curling motion as she climaxed.
She must have blacked out for a second because when she opened her eyes Dick was hovering over her, holding himself up a few centimeters from her face. He was caressing her cheek lovingly, letting his other hand rub her hip in soothing patterns.
“Welcome back, love.” He kissed her softly. The fact that she could taste herself on his lips made her desire spark again. She moaned into the kiss.
Dick pulled back, a low chuckle escaping the back of his throat. “Who knew you were so desperate to get fucked?”
He was infuriating. He wanted to mess with her? Fine, but she’d give him a taste of his own medicine. “I’ve been waiting for you to fuck me for years, Grayson. It took you long enough to understand that I almost gave up and went to Jason.”
He growled. His fingers wrapping tightly around her throat once again. “He’s not allowed to touch you. Ever. Do I make myself clear, Y/N?”
She knew mentioning his brother was risky, but what was the saying again? High risk, high reward? She felt the coil in her abdomen tighten as his grip tightened, reminding her he wanted an answer. “Y – Yes, Dick” She croaked.
He kissed her roughly, teasing her slick folds with the head of his cock. “You are mine.”
He finally slipped in, in one swift motion. She would’ve screamed loud enough for guests to hear if his strong hand hadn’t been restricting her airway.
They stayed like that for a moment. Dick’s grip on her throat had loosened slightly, but his hand still rested on her throat, reminding her he was in control. He kissed her lips softly as if he was apologizing for being so rough. She whined softly. She wanted him to move.
He pulled back slowly, his hips snapping quickly as he entered her again roughly. He set a brutal pace, drawing strangled moans from her.
“Fuck, Y/N, you’re so tight. You feel so good.” He breathed against her skin.
She knew she wouldn’t last very long. She felt the coil tighten again, almost ready to snap. Dick’s rough thrusts never faltered bringing her closer and closer to the edge.
She let out a particularly loud moan when Dick’s free hand snaked between their bodies to rub harsh circles against her swollen clit.
She tried screaming his name as she was pushed over the edge, but he swallowed the strangled sound into a passionate kiss. He kept his hand tightly wound around her throat to keep control over the volume of her release. Her entire body shook as he kept pummeling her into the couch cushions.
“Dick, please” she sobbed as he released his hold on her throat.
“Shh, it’s okay, baby. I know you have one more in you. Cum for me again, angel.” His voice was sweet, though his merciless pace didn’t falter.
Dick breathed out her name and let low deep grunts escape his throat repeatedly. She felt her third orgasm approach quickly, her overstimulated body in need of finding release once more.
Dick’s thrusts became erratic, frantic even. His finger found her clit again. She felt him twitch inside of her as thick ropes of cum painted her walls. The feeling of being filled with his warm seed brought her over the edge one more time.
He collapsed on top of her, both hands now resting on her waist. They both breathed heavily, chests pushing against each other with each intake of air. She felt completely fucked out. His heart was beating as frantically as her own.
She hissed when Dick finally pulled out. She could feel his cum seep out of her, undoubtedly onto the couch.
“Are you okay, love?” She appreciated the concern in his voice. God, she loved him so much.
She knew he’d left bruises all over her body, her lips were swollen, and she was starting to feel just how sore she’d be in the morning.
She smiled at him. “I’m more than okay, Dick. As much as I’d love to stay here with you… we should probably get dressed.” The puzzled look on his face drew a giggle from her. She added: “You know, before Bruce finds us?”
That snapped him out of his daze. “Oh, yeah, yes. Definitely. Maybe we should, uhm, go upstairs, uhm, to my room?”
He was so adorable she could barely believe he was the same man who’d just fucked her senseless. She winked at the man she loved. “Alright, lover boy, lead the way…”

Wild Speculation Time! Weeeeee!
Okay, so I don’t literally think this will happen or that this is what’s going on, it’s more of an: it would make a lot of the recent strange writing choices make more sense.
Ahem. Let the wild rumpus begin:
I’ve noticed there are persistent off-and-on rumors that Ryan and Oliver don’t get along like they used to. Whether “not getting along” means “not besties” or “I loathe the very sight of you,” who knows.
If it is true that they don’t get along while at the same time more and more people are not only shipping Buddie, but anti-shipping other options all well? Wow, that is a tricky spot to be in for a showrunner.
Forcing actors who can barely stand eachother to play love interests is . . . well, it’s been done before in plenty of shows, but it’s certainly not a working environment I’d wanna be a part of. It’s a great way to make everyone on set super uncomfortable, and I don’t want that experience for any of our lovely 911 cast or crew. Bleh.
So let’s look at other options:
Write both men off the series (which would, by default, get rid of Christopher too). Or  write only one of them off the show.
Okay. I’m running the show. Who do I write off? The audience does love seeing Eddie in Awesome Protective Dad Mode. But overall it seems like Buck is the more popular character in general, and the audience also loves his bond with Christopher.
But if you get rid of Eddie, Chris goes with him, right?
And now for the absolutely terrible idea that I could totally see them doing just for the sake of resolving fan displeasure and/or on-set issues:
We all noticed that Eddie and Ana are not only an unpopular pairing, but it almost seems like they’re intentionally boring and w/out chemistry, right? It seems to me like most viewers have noticed that. And they wrote Eddie being a bad parent to Christopher the second he had a chance to get New Pussy in the near future. Unconcerned about bringing Ana into their home without a mask or any distancing, seeming not to care that his son has CP (which is often associated with a weakened immune system). And then not even noticing his kid leaving the house and getting in a car that then drives away. Yeah, he went from sweet concerned father to shitty oblivious father in the space of a single episode.
Like I said, it’s a terrible idea, I’m not a fan of this idea but what if . . .
They BIG TIME played up the bond between Buck and Christopher while highlighting Eddie’s inexplicable attraction to Ana and how it instantly makes him a worse father on purpose. What if it’s being done to make general viewers less sympathetic toward Eddie. Thus less attached to the character. And by contrast more aware of what a great father Buck is to Christopher?
I mean, one way of making a ship less popular is to turn half of said ship into an asshat. Hell, they could even spend the back half of S4 and some of S5 slowly morphing Eddie into an outright total douche if they wanted to. Then give his character some kind of “semi-redemption-then-he-dies-at-the-end-of-the-episode” send-off to close out his arc.
“BUT WOULDN’T THAT DESTROY CHRIS?!?” You bellow at your phone after reading those words. “PERISH THE THOUGHT YOU HORRIBLE HORRIBLE MONSTER PERSON!!!”
And yeah. With the way their relationship has been written up to this point it would be basically awful. But many a show has been willing to retcon an entire character and/or relationship history if it suits a narrative they wanna push. Not saying it’s a good thing to do, it’s usually not. Just saying it’s not unprecedented in TV Land. (and sometimes the only workable option if a drastic change simply has to be made for whatever reason)
Anyhow, my point being : if the showrunners wanted to get rid of Eddie but keep Christopher and his adorable relationship with Buck, they might think that their best option is to gradually (or not so gradually) morph Eddie into an uninvolved and/or shitty parent, while at the same time highlighting Buck’s evolution into a full-on paternal presence in Chris’s life. Aaaaaaaannnnnnd then write Ryan off the show via whatever means while making it clear that he wants Buck to take custody of Chris in the event of his absence or death.
Can’t say enough: I DON’T LIKE THE IDEA, but it would make several recent and super bizarre writing and casting choices make more sense. This is a show that usually does a great job with matching for chemistry. Athena and Bobby, Maddie and Chim, etc. Even Buck and Ali had . . . well, not terrible chemistry. Same goes for Taylor. Which makes it so strange that Eddie and Ana are such a huge dud. Even outside of “interfering” with Buddie, the actors simply have no chemistry at all. Which wouldn’t be weird if we didn’t have so many examples of the same damn show getting it spot-on right. Part of me believes it has got to be intentional.
Which gives us 3 likely(ish) possibilities:
1) They planned to straight-wash both characters all along and the utter lack of chemistry between Eddieana and ooc Eddie were simply poor writing/casting choices. Or that we’ll soon be moving on to Eddie’s “the one” (also female, of course)
2) Every writing choice in the last ep was actually designed to showcase the stifling awkwardness of Eddie with a “girlfriend” while also showcasing how much Buck already fits into the Diaz family as a parental figure. Basically nudging the general audience toward the idea of an official Buckley-Diaz family.
3) Eddie’s shitty parenting and tight Buck+Christopher bond will continue to escalate, highlighted more and more, until the audience dislikes Eddie and loves Christopher+Buck enough that writing Ryan off the show is a hell of a lot less risky.
I know Christopher has already been through so much trauma-but the Eddie Diaz I saw in the last episode is probably the last person (besides Ana) I would want guiding him through yet more trauma. If we’re going by this last episode alone? Yeah, that should be Buck’s job.
OH! Nevermind, there is a 4th possibility:
4) They just straight up re-cast Eddie and have the other characters make a few offhand comments like “did you change your hair? You look different,” and the show goes on as if he’s always been played by Mr.NewActor.
(Or I guess they could re-cast Buck instead, but I’m honestly less attached to Ryan as THE Eddie, so if I had to choose? Like, me personally? I’d pick Ryan for the ax. Sorry Ryan. Best of luck in the future, but I can’t imagine anyone besides Oliver playing Buck)

do you have any buddie au fic recs?
I do indeed! First, there’s a Buddie AU fanfic collection on AO3 if you’d like to peruse that.
Here are some of my favorite AU fics:
We Fell In Love Dancing Kizomba by @imyourbuddie (82k, E, WIP) - D/s AU
After tragedy strikes close to home, firefighter Eddie Diaz moves him and his son, Christopher, to LA where they can start fresh. Single fatherhood, new job, and a new town stretch Eddie thin, and his biological Dominant needs are barely met. But the fear of repeating the same mistakes keeps him strung tight and unable to let loose.
Evan "Buck" Buckley loves cooking and teaching children in his cooking class. He's a Submissive, this is what he's supposed to do, what his biology is made to do, and he's good at it. But Buck's always had a dream that's so farfetched for a sub that he never dares to even voice it.
When Christopher asks to take a cooking class for children, the two men's worlds collide. Eddie needs to learn to let go, and Buck needs to learn that there's more to life than just tradition and expectations. And maybe, just maybe, they can find happiness along the way.
Tethers by @allyourfandomsbelongtous (121k, E, WIP) - mechanic!Eddie AU
Eddie's spent years trying to find a place to call home with Christopher, hoping that Shannon will come back and then desperately hoping she wouldn't. He thinks he's in the clear when she shows up at his doorstep, demanding they get back together.
Eddie comes up with a foolproof plan: get a fake boyfriend, convince Shannon he's gay, and live happily ever after with his life mostly intact and Christopher safe and happy. Get rid of fake boyfriend when Shannon gives up, and life can resume as normal.
Enter Buck, and the plan goes to hell in a handbasket.
118 Entertainment by Araloth (37k, E, WIP) - porn star AU
118 Entertainment- One of the preimer adult entertainment companies in the country, and Buck's next big break. Buck's had his own website for awhile, shooting videos in his garage, but this is the big time. Follow Buck as he steps into the world of the 118, and all the new challenges and complications that will come with his new job.
nice to meet ya by @getbvcked (4k, T) - wedding boutique worker!Buck
A cracky AU where Buck works in a wedding dress boutique and Eddie is the hot fiancé...or isssssss he?
Distance and Loneliness are Synonyms by @imadethisforbuddie (27k, E) - actor!Buck AU
Five years ago, Buck made it big as he got a part in the breakout hit called "Station 118". He has everything he could ever ask for, but at the end of the day, he still feels so lonely. He decides it's finally time to go back to his small town where he's left everything behind.
Five years ago, Eddie's best friend tells him that he's leaving. Eddie understands that it's for the best, so he lets him go only to realize that he was in love with him this whole time. It doesn't matter though because Eddie's happy now, though constantly tired from working two jobs, he's built a little life for him and Christopher. It all comes crashing down when he sees Buck again, and everything changes, but his feelings remain the same.
-
TLDR: A painful AU Christmas fic with a happy ending because we need more of those in this fandom. :)
dancing under red skies by dayswithout (series, 45k) - soulmate AU
Buck hates Eddie Diaz on sight.
aka, a soulmate au.
To Be Whole by mansikka (3k, T) - soulmate AU
They say that when you and your soulmate are ready to meet, whatever they write on their skin will appear on yours, and vice versa. Which Buck thinks is bullshit. Right up until words start appearing on his arm.
I Had A Dream About A Burning House by @evanbuckley-diaz (7k, T) - soulmate AU
When you’re little, its the typical monsters under the bed. In high school, there are nightmares about disappointing people by not becoming all that they want you to be.
It all takes a hard left turn when Buck hits college.
Librarian AU by lullatone (series, 29k) - librarian!Buck
At meet the teachers night, Eddie gets more than in bargained for with meeting Christopher’s new school librarian.
love is (a bright idea) by chocobos (3k, NR) - librarian!Buck
"Wow. You weren't kidding about being wild for dinosaurs, huh?" Buck asks.
He giggles again. “I’m not the kind of kid who jokes about dinosaurs, Buck,” the kid replies, with far too much conviction for a child his age. Or relative age, really.
Mr. Buckley’s After Hours Detention by @tk-strand (11k, M) - teacher!Buck
It’s not like Eddie Diaz planned on this. Really, there was no scenario in his mind where he would ever be bringing his son’s teacher a freaking goody basket to class; a homemade goody basket, no less. Then again, Christopher has never had a teacher quite like Evan Buckley.
and my own fic:
for the next time you get lonely (2k, M) - sex shop AU
Buck's sister Maddie owns a sex shop, but occasionally needs a night out. Good thing Buck's ready to step in and man the store.
But he definitely isn't prepared for a flirtatious stranger to come in and fluster him completely with his brown eyes and devastating smile.
Don’t forget to leave comments/kudos for all these amazing authors!!!
