There's an interesting AU where Cammie is like, ACTUALLY apprehended by some kind of either social service or responsible adult, and is not left alone on the streets.

Whenever this happens it fast tracks his teenage and young adult years where he's incredibly angry but with no real outlet. He gets all that anger over what happened to him out, and it with the help of whoever is taking care of him that he gets new direction.

He may not be instantly reunited with his bio parents, but he tends to be enrolled in some programs or clubs that pertain to his interests, and gets some coaching on socialising with autism. He gets to find a lot of joy in community and humble lifestyles

Of course, things don't always go sunshine and rainbows. He's either eventually found and brought back to his parents, OR he runs away before that can happen.

But it's wildly beneficial for him to have that experience and possible friendships and bonds. It results in a much more stable adulthood.

WHO these people are is interchangeable depending on setting. There's been great fun in having Eddie Moytoy or the Gummy Gang fill this roll, and from a personal point I've had Solo fill it a few times when they're a bit older.

It's fun to see what can happen when you throw stability in different flavours at this kid

wasn't picturing an adventure time setting with these drawings when I made them, moreso a general post-apocalyptic setting, but i've been watching lots of Adventure Time lately, so of course I was going to think of a widdle Neon and Ed every time Simon and Marcy popped up.
