[ok since I'm here, i might as well do this post

For 'regular' Jay (like the version of him in the 'sinner in hope county' verse tag), I may retcon the whole B/L Pandoran & Eden-5 origins portion of that, I mean references to the tech and such haven't been made too much, lately, anyway. There have been references that he came from a chaotic zone (Pandora), but I can just, say that chaotic zone is somewhere else on Earth. A place that used to be a normal Earthen city, but, uh, he fucked it up and basically turned it into a chaotic, lawless zone several years ago where its basically constant fighting and survival tactics at all times, 24/7.

It'll be like an enhanced, further down the road version of his Bloody City verse, where he has some form of chaos power that's caused a lot of destruction. He is still enhanced in strength abilities, as well. And, well, why not keep the slowly turning into a monster bits, too? Because nyeh.

Hallo, curious about more things about the spirits. Are carnates more likely to have death sight or is it equally likely for anyone to have it? Can powerful spirits affect death cores in any way? Do people who have death sight mistake any spirits for youkai or vice versa? Are there any big myths surrounding the spirits? Do the yokai also have the potential to have death sight and if yes how do they interact with the spirits? Are being of mechanical nature able to be affected by spirits?

Are there any "artificial" spirits like someone purposefully manipulating or experimenting on them to make bigger and more powerful ones. Or like some cult trying to feed a wraith to keep to keep it alive?

Because Yokai are fairly difficult to define to the typical person it is not uncommon to confuse the two at times. Truly dangerous yokai are rare though and common ones can be avoided or ignored. Such as a yokai that haunts a trash can or even a particular river rock

Yokai live on the spectral plane and can see spirits by default

Spirits will avoid them as even some of the weaker yokai are known to feed on them. There are local myths for those that believe in ghosts but often it's written off as a yokai or kids messing around There are few that are powerful enough and have the interest to bother haunting/possessing mechanical items as there isnt much benefit for them

While there are some divisions of EDEN that know of ghosts they have yet to create any (and I doubt its possible)

The Eternal Flower Files II - Flowers of the Fleur de Lys

Eternal Flower Floette is likely inspired by the fleur de lys, an ancient trinity symbol used by French heraldry and Christianity.  The story goes that the first King of France, King Clovis, adopted the fleur de lys as the symbol of France after he was given a lily by the Virgin Mary during his baptism.  King AZ inherited Eternal Flower Floette from his late mother. 

The fleur de lys is where Lysandre, the descendant of King AZ's brother, gets his name. In fact, lots of prominent Pokemon characters get their names from flowers associated with the fleur de lys, as we'll see.

"fleur de lys" means "flower of the lily", and yet the flower it actually depicts is surprisingly more subjective.  Let's look at four flowers connected to the fleur de lys: the iris, the lily, the gladiolus, and the red trillium.

The Iris

The iris is the national flower of France.  Despite being called the fleur de lys, the symbol is widely agreed to be an iris for a few reasons. Visually, the shape of the fleur de lys is the biggest evidence. Like the iris, the fleur de lys has three upright petals, or "standards" and three hanging petals called "falls".

Irises have a wide range of meanings depending on the color, but there are no natural red irises like the Eternal Flower.  Irises like the Apostle Iris, Copper Iris, or Japanese Iris all resemble the Eternal Flower.  In Ancient Greece, irises were planted at graves (and are still used as funeral flowers) to signal Iris, the goddess of light and rainbows to guide them into the afterlife.  This symbol of "light" comes up a lot in Fleur de lys symbolism.

Did you know that not only does Champion Iris get her name from the flower, but also her counterpart Drayden, and his Blueberry Academy son Drayton?

The Lily

The Eternal Flower looks a lot like the Asiatic Red Lily, or more specifically the Asiatic "Blackout Lily".

Lilies are one of the oldest cultivated flowers, so their name and symbolism has spread to many similar flowers over time. Lilies are incredibly important to Christianity. It is said that liles sprung from the tears of Eve as she left the Garden of Eden. Lilies are used to represent a lot of elements in Christianity, but mostly the Holy Trinity and the Virgin Mary.  In a sense they are a trinity symbol themselves, symbolizing light and rebirth, tying into that familiar theme of "life, death, and rebirth".

Both lilies and irises flowers represent light in different ways.  While Iris is the Greek goddess of light, the lily represents light in Christianity, and an archaic name for the Fleur de lys and the lily is "fleur de luce" or Flower of Light.  These light symbols are likely where Eternal Flower Floette gets her "Light of Ruin" attack from.  The attack has an connotation of authority and power, which is not surprising given the connection between "light" and many authoritative, ocassionally wrathful gods associated with light like the Abrahamic god, Zeus, and the Egyptian Goddess Isis.

This light symbolism might point to Eternal Flower Floette being the "lambda Pokemon" in the logo for Legends: Z-A.  The symbol has a leafy pattern at the bottom reminiscent of flowers.

 (L)ambda is used as a constant for (L)ight wavelengths.   Floette in general use light and wavelengths to share power with flowers, but clearly the Eternal Flower has exceptional power of its own  Maybe the "ominous power", the light within the Eternal Flower allowing Floette to use "Light of Ruin" - is Infinity Energy. 

The Gladiolus

The Gladiolus is in the iris family, but it has the nickname "Sword Lily" for its long pointy stalks.  I think the Sword Lily inspires the black spikes on the ends of the larger petals on the Eternal Flower.  The Sword Lily is said to symbolize the Virgin Mary in Our Lady of Sorrows, represented with swords piercing her body.  This reminds me of the black spikes on the Eternal Flower, which look like they're piercing the bloodred petals..

And yes, the Aether kids Gladius and Lillie get their names from the Gladiolus and Lily!  Notice that the Arceus crest on Type: Null's helmet makes it look like it has swords locking the helmet to its head.  Of course, that's a larger discussion about Arceus and light/god imagery, but there are so many important Pokemon characters named after lilies and irises that it's hard to ignore that GameFreak was paying special attention to them.

The Trillium

The Red Trillium most likely inspired the Eternal Flower - so you may be wondering why I saved it for last.  Unlike the ancient European history of the lily and iris, the Trillium was found in North America by European settlers.  I say "found" and not "discovered" because Native Americans already used it medicinally.  Since then, this relative of the lily has inherited a lot of European lily symbolism. 

The symbolism of the Trillium seems to be a mixture of these two traditions.  Native Americans used Trillium, also known as birthroot, as a female medicine for menstrual disorders, childbirth, and menopause.  Midwifes would wear a trillium as a symbol of their work. (Source: Get to Know Trilliums - The Midwife's Medicine)  It also has an antiseptic property, and was used to stop bleeding.  This is where the trillium gets its symbolism of the divine female, blood, birth, and recovery.

Floette is a female only species, and notably Eternal Flower Floette seems to be connected to a lot of symbols of femininity, like the Virgin Mary, the Greek Goddess Iris, and the Triple Goddess associated with the triquetra.

Trillium is also called the wood lily, western lily, and the three-parted lily.  In fact, the European symbolism of the lily isn't too different when you get down to it - it's associated with a mother figure, it symbolizes life, death, and rebirth, and both flowers are used to symbolize the Holy Trinity. Today the Trillium can be associated with a lot of these European trinity symbols like the Fleur de lys and the triquetra, because everything about it is triplicate.  Three petals, three sepals, even the leaves grow in threes.

Like AZ's Floette, the trillium is a deceptively delicate flower that will disappear if you take advantage of it.  Picking a trillium flower might endanger the plant's life.  Eternal Flower Floette's story is a tragedy of a beautiful life exploited for war.  First she was kidnapped and died being used as a weapon, and then after AZ resurrected her, she left him after witnessing him kill thousands in her name. 

But if there's one thread that bonds these flowers together, it's the theme of rebirth.  After 3,000 years, Eternal Flower Floette returned to AZ.  While flowers wilt and die, they come back and blossom again in the cycle of life, death, and rebirth.  I think it's incredibly likely that we too will be reunited with Eternal Flower Floette in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Oh my, the most attention I’ve gotten on an oc x cannon character shipping.

Well! Before I make a post about how these two met and their relationship dynamics, it’s important I give context about Rosemary!

Rosemary Aster is a consort on the Citadel, but she tends to go simply by Roxanne for her own safety. She rather enjoys being a consort because she gets a chance to learn about many alien species. She probably finds aliens more exciting to serve than her human clients. She despises the tension that goes on between humans and other species so she advocates strongly for equality. She hopes that one day, humans can have a seat at the Council. However, she understands humans need to understand the large responsibilities and power humanity needs to develop to win a spot. It can’t be given so easily.

As for her backstory, she was born around 2136 CE, a few years after Saren was born. Her father served in the medical corps while her mother stayed home and homeschooled Rosemary.

Around the time humanity discovered Mass Effect physics, her father would continue to serve as a medic for the Systems Alliance meanwhile Rosemary was enthralled by how much humans were learning more about the galaxy and the existence of aliens. She wanted to learn more about them, so she would get ahold of any chance she could get to learn about the other species. Eventually when she got older around the age of 20, she had the bright idea of becoming a consort. She in fact would get to work at The Sanctuary for a few years before moving and working on the Citadel at 24, she would be under some of Sha’ira’s tutoring.

Unfortunately around the First Contact War, her father would die, meanwhile her mother continues to live on Eden Prime.

As for her personality: She is witty, charming, observant, a quick learner, and passionate. However, her emotions can be a weakness of hers sometimes.

Fun fact: Turians are her favorite clients, if I had a notebook with tally marks, Turians would have the most. All thanks for her not being allergic to some… Turian substances 👀

Below is more art, I had to crop it because I made the image too big and just couldn’t resize it. I will soon try to post how she met Saren, so if you’re interested keep your eye out! What I can say for now are these headcannons behind my art: 1. If Saren ever has a gift delivered to Rosemary, there will never be a note and he uh.. Terminates whoever delivered it so no one knows of his fondness of her. 2. After Saren died, Rosemary picked out a wedding dress and dyed it black, mourning of losing him and the life they could of had together.

PRIMARY (FANDOMLESS). With magical abilities and an affinity towards the paranormal, Eden has discovered that speaking with ghosts is a valuable skill. Eden becomes the High Priestess of a coven, a title passed down through the matriarchs in her family. She's a nomadic leader, establishing communities around the country – and eventually, the world – where groups of witches can gather, hone their abilities, and find a home within each other. All the while, Eden travels for her side business, using her skills as a medium and taking calls upon her abilities from around the globe. | KNOWN ABILITIES: empath, medium, divination, telekinetic, spellcaster, astral projection, conjuration, enchantment, transmutation.

CULT (FANDOMLESS / PRIMARY BRANCH OFF). Eden has let her divine abilities get to her head, and has influenced her coven to see her as a god. Eden herself still travels around frequently and establishes communities around the globe. Unlike her main verse, Eden will exploit her powers to bend people to her will. She can often be found using her empathic abilities to tap into peoples’ vulnerabilities and coerce them to depend on her.

SECONDARY (FANDOMLESS). Hit-woman, a bounty hunter, someone to clean up a mess. Eden never really stopped to consider the title. As a bounty hunter affiliated with an underground organization known as The Guild, Eden is proficient in combat, weaponry, and interrogation.

TERTIARY (FANDOMLESS). The prestigious criminal defense lawyer, Eden Emerson, operates a solo-practice in Manhattan, NYC.

BALDUR'S GATE / DND. (Under construction). Sorceress, half-drow. Alignment: true neutral.

DOCTOR WHO. Head of a New York-based sect of Torchwood, founded by Captain Jack Harkness, Eden has built a team of alien-hunters who defend the Earth in the Doctor’s absence.

MARVEL. Born into a family of mutants, Eden and her siblings attended Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. There, Eden learned to hone her telekinetic powers, and she proved to be incredibly talented and useful on missions. When she finally grew old enough, Eden became a teacher at Xavier’s, instructing classes which consisted of students with psychic powers.

POKÉMON. Hailing from Hoenn, Eden ventures from region to region, collecting gym badges and mentoring young trainers to help them grow their battling skills. She has gained a reputation for herself during her travels, and she is often referred to as the Nomad Champion, as many trainers vie to encounter her and defeat her in battle. | TEAM: Absol(♀), Blaziken(♂), Empoleon(♂), Altaria(♂), Chandelure(♀), Umbreon (shiny)(♀).

RESIDENT EVIL. Hired by Terrasave, Eden is tasked with protecting Brooke Lucas, who was described to her as humanity’s last hope. Brooke, who was discovered to be immune to the various viruses that have plagued humanity, now resides in a safehouse with Eden.

SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN. The sole surviving member of the oridinal Squad Levi, besides the Captain himself, Eden is Levi’s second-in-command. Over the years, she has become incredibly skilled in slaying titans, holding one of the more impressive individual kill counts in the Survey Corps. Levi often leaves Eden with some freedom to call shots in his absence, as they have each come to understand how the other operates.

 STAR WARS. Having been born and raised on Level 1313 of Coruscant, and after losing their parents in a fatal accident, the Edsobol siblings each worked to take care of each other and to leave the underground of Coruscant. Eden joined the Bounty Hunters’ Guild, and has been traveling the galaxy hunting bounties ever since. Over time, she has gained quite the reputation, and often takes jobs that are high-risk; she sends most of the earned credits to her siblings.

SUPERNATURAL. Born into a family of hunters, life slaying monsters on the road is all Eden knows. When she and her siblings grew old enough, Brock and Jo ended up becoming a team while Eden went off on her own. On one of Eden’s first solo hunts, she was up against a witch that was terrorizing a small town in Louisiana. Upon discovering that the witch was getting her powers from an ancient book, Eden was met with a decision: destroy the book… or destroy the woman wielding it. Ultimately, she chose to kill the woman, and took the book into her possession. Now, she uses the powers she gained from the book to help her on her hunts, regardless of whether or not her choice was the right one.

Tristan in the Garden (of Eden): A Close Reading of The Atlas Six

Tristan Caine's idolization of money and power is demonstrated to us through the association made between Wessex Corp and the Garden of Eden. Eden Wessex is the most obvious association, given her name is literally Eden. She is Tristan's entry point to the Wessex Corp, and family as his fiancée. In a sort of reverse creation myth, Tristan (man) enters the Garden of Eden (Wessex Corp) and would be made rich and powerful through Eden (woman).

Tristan describes the Wessex empire as "the incomporable Wessex idyll" (pg. 27). Idyll would ordinarily be an odd way to describe a capitalistic empire, as it is less a distinct setting and more a concept. However, the choice to refer to it as an "idyll" draws further comparison to the Garden of Eden. The negative association of soulless office skyscrapers is replaced with the positive association of lush and picturesque gardens. The Wessex empire's power and money to Tristan represent the ideal conditions to live in, whether that is accurate or not.

The Garden of Eden in Abrahamic religions is a paradise, free from sin. Obviously, Wessex Corp is not free from sin and Tristan knows this. However, he also believes that due to the money and power wielded by James Wessex, his sins (or crimes in this case) are not punished. If a crime is not punished, then it is in practice the same as doing something legal for the person committing it, rendering the Wessex Corp also "without sin" for practical purposes. Tristan only leaves the Wessex Corp for the Alexandrian Society. Tristan leaving the "Wessex idyll" for an academic society mimics the story of Eve being cast out of the Garden of Eden for consuming the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Tristan quite literally leaves Eden Wessex in the pursuit of knowledge.
