When I was working at Andrews McMeel Universal it was always interesting to see which papers were afraid of Doonesbury. Some just dropped the specific intellectually scary strip, others moved it wholesale to the Siberia of the Editorial page knowing that their offended readers just read the Comics and the Sports pages. It seems counterintuitive to undermine the editoral veracity of the rest of your journalism to protect the sensibilities of those that don't read that part of the paper.
