Period dramas- El Mestre Que Va Prometre El Mar (The teacher who promised the sea) (2023)

The film focuses on the life of Antoni Benaiges , a teacher from Mont-roig del Camp, in the Baix Camp, in Tarragona, Catalunya, who in 1935 was sent to the public school in Bañuelos de Bureba, a small town in the province of Burgos, Castilla la Vieja (Castilla y León). Little by little, and thanks to a pioneering and revolutionary teaching methodology for the time, he will begin to transform the lives of his students, but also that of the town, which is not always to everyone's taste.

It's based on the book of the same name by Francesc Escribano and has been adapted for the big screen by Albert Val, and its director is Patrícia Font.

To tell the story of Antoni Benaiges (Enric Auquer), the film interweaves past and present and the master's story will be known through the eyes of Ariadna (Laia Costa), a woman looking for her great-grandfather who disappeared during the Civil War.

The producers of the film wanted to emphasize the essence of this exciting story: " 'El mestre que va prometre el mar' is a great story that has been unfairly forgotten for many years. With this film we are repairing an oblivion and at the same time valuing the work of the republican teachers and recognizing the struggle of so many people who still continue to search for their relatives buried anonymously in mass graves. An exciting and fully valid story.

Part of the technical team is made up of David Valldepérez, director of photography; Josep Rosell, art director; Dani Arregui, editor, and Natasha Arizu, composer, among other professionals.

The film is shot for six weeks in various locations in the demarcation of Barcelona, in Mura, and in Briviesca (Burgos). It is a production of Minoria Absoluta, Lastor Media, Filmax and Mestres Films AIE.

RTVE and TV3 participate and it has the support of the ICAA and the ICEC . Filmax is in charge of distribution to cinemas.

Global Reading Challenge: 109/200

A personal reading project, where I endeavour to read a book from each of the 193 United Nations member states plus 7 extra* ones. My main goal is to have fun and to learn, but I do have rules for myself:

The book should be fiction, and preferably a novel. I allow plays and poetry, but non-fiction only as the very last resort

The author should have the nationality of their country. If they have lived a good portion of their life there and genuinely represent the local culture, then it's ok if they've been born somewhere else

I want to read books that represent the local literary tradition. Preferably a "classic", a book that illustrates the local culture, or a book that is famous within the country. I avoid popular and contemporary fiction, and books that play outside of the country.

*Extra states have been determined based on UNESCO membership and personal interest where I want to read more books from. This is not a political statement.

Adorei ficar com o cu ardendo (Julho-2022)

Meu nome é Bia, tenho 39 anos, sou casada, tenho dois filhos. A gente chegou na sexta durante a noite nessa casa e eu estava tão empolgada vendo os jovens tomando cerveja, curtindo um som e aproveitando o melhor da vida. Assim que cheguei tratei de vestir meu biquíni e curtir um banho de piscina. Mesmo durante a noite, o lugar era um pouco quente, então fui dar um mergulho pra relaxar.

Quando fui tomar uma ducha no chuveiro que fica do lado de fora, ouvi alguém dizer:

– Aaaahhh! Que bunda gostosa!

Outro comentou:

– Oooohhh lá em casa! Eu ia esfolar meu pau…

Ouvi várias gracinhas desses caras. Qualquer mulher ficaria constrangida, mas eu sempre gostei de ouvir essas cantadas safadas, me faz sentir muito gostosa e sempre me deixa com tesão quando o cara é atraente. De qualquer forma, fingi que não era comigo, sai do chuveiro, me enrolei na toalha e saí dali, mas antes pude ver um deles colocando o pau pra fora. Eu fiquei chocada com o tamanho dessa pica, era grande, daquelas que a gente sabe que deixa qualquer buceta e cu arrombados.

No segundo dia fui até a praia e na volta ouvi mais gracinhas, dessa vez todos eles colocaram os paus pra fora. Eu encorajei o rapaz e ele perguntou se eu era casada. Eu disse que sim, então ele disse para deixar a conversa pra lá, mas eu queria realmente saber então disse pra ele me falar logo, pois no dia seguinte eu ia embora e ele ia perder a oportunidade, então ele se soltou e disse:

– Desde o primeiro dia em que te vi, ando com o maior tesão pensando em você. Que tal se a gente fosse lá na casa onde estou com meus amigos e você deixa eu enfiar a língua nesse cu?

Fiquei chocada com a cara de pau dele em me falar isso e perguntei pelos amigos dele. O rapaz respondeu que eles tinham saído com as garotas e demorariam para voltar. Eu dei uma escapada sem minha amiga me ver e fui até lá. Assim que entramos ele me levou para o quarto, começamos a nos beijar gostoso e já senti a química rolar só no beijo. Ele deu um tapa na minha bunda, me virou de costas, fez eu ficar empinadinha e começou a chupar minha bucetinha e meu cuzinho, me levando a sentir um prazer extremo. Eu gemi bem gostoso e rebolei na língua dele e deixei o safado com ainda mais tesão.

Depois de me chupar gostoso e me fazer gozar, ele se levantou e colocou seu pauzão grosso pra fora, me deixando louca de tesão por esse cacete gostoso. Depois de um tempo mamando nesse pau que mal cabia na minha boca, ele se levantou, foi até o quarto e trouxe um tubo de lubrificante, pedindo pra eu passar em sua pica.

Percebendo a intenção dele, fiquei gelada de nervosismo, mas fiz o que ele pediu, lambuzei seu pau com o lubrificante e depois ele deitou e eu fui por cima dele de costas. Eu fiquei me esfregando na rola dele por um bom tempo, roçando aquele cacete na minha bunda, deixando ele todo molhado com meu tesão que escorria.

Enquanto a sacanagem rolava, ele agarrou meus cabelos e urrava de tesão, dizendo que meu cu era gostoso, um cuzão maravilhoso! Deixei ele finalmente meter a rola e doeu pra caralho, mas o tesão falou mais alto e comecei a rebolar devagarzinho.

Pedi pra ele gozar dentro do meu cuzinho e ele encheu, fazendo sua porra transbordar. Depois que ele tirou o pau da minha bunda ele ainda tinha mais porra e jorrou o resto pelo meu peito e a minha cara. Meu cu ficou super dolorido, foi difícil dormir essa noite, mas valeu a pena demais esse fim de semana gostoso.

Letters, or: objects that let

Kann es sein, dass wir Leute nur wegen ihrer Letter einladen? Nur wegen der Letter, dank und durch sie schon erscheinen, noch bevor sie gegenwärtig sind? Manche Liebe (some love and some law) beginnt schon mit der Begegnung mit Namen: man liest nur den Namen, liebt schon und weiß noch nicht, wer kommt, weiß aber schon, dass man, solange man lesen und lassen kann, dieser Person verbunden sein wird. Die Letter ziehen schon, lassen tragen und trachten, lassen sogar trainieren, einem Menschen verbunden zu sein und ihn zu lassen.

Marie Luise O'Murphy: Louis XV liebte sie schon, noch bevor sie den französischen Hof erreichte, zu dem sie nur aufbrach, weil sie seine Mätresse werden sollte, dank und durch Letter, nicht nur die Letter, die ihren Namen zusammensetzen, sondern auch durch zwei Letter, die Francois Boucher als Sendung und in Form von tabula picta erstellte, keine Bewerbungsphotos, sondern Bewerbungsletter, angemalte Täfelchen, damit sich werben lässt, klein nicht nur in der Anzahl ihrer Versionen, klein sogar auch in Zentimetern und Quadratzentimetern, im Gewicht auch klein und eng gestellt, nämlich dort, wo der Verkehr streng limitiert ist.

Von Bouchers tabula picta, einer Sendung zum Hof, wurde nur in einem Tagebuch und nur in einer Polizeiakte der Name von Marie Louise O'Murphy mit dem Bild assoziiert, nur an zwei schriftlichen Stellen assoziierte man die Buchstaben der Person mit der Malerei, damit die Trennungen und Assoziationen nicht zu groß werden. Man sagt, der Stil dieses Bildes sei niedrig, wenn auch im Hohen wiederum niedrig und am scheinbar absoluten Hof relativ niedrig, also minor oder Rokoko, aber nicht Klassik, nicht Barock und souverän, nicht Renaissance.

Allein die portugiesischen und brasilianischen, die spanischen Letter mit ihren mal silbernen, mal goldenen, fast immer barocken Lettern, die lassen einen laden.

Andityas Soares de Moura Costa Matos hätte nicht viel schreiben müssen, um zu der Tagung über Letter oder Objekte, die lassen, eingeladen zu werden. Ein Letter hätte gereicht, der kommt so silbern und barock daher, wie kann man da nicht geladen sein? Andityas Soares de Moura Costa Matos wird auf der Tagung im Mai über seine bild- und rechtswissenschaftliche Forschung zu Andreas Alciatus sprechen, also über Embleme und Alchemie, komisch!

Das ist zwar noch nicht die Tagung zu Lex satyrica (im Sinne Gratians und des decretum), die findet erst später statt. Aber unsere Forschungen zu Recht und Kulturtechnik hängen zusammen, dank und durch Trennungen und Assoziationen. Im Austausch mit manchen Forschern bin ich unsicher, was ich vom Namen weglassen kann, um noch den richtigen Namen angemessen zu nutzen. Kann ich statt Eduardo Viveiros de Castro auch einfach nur Eduardo, nur Viveiros oder nur de Castro oder nur Castro sagen, bleibe ich da dem Namen treu? Ich bin und bleibe unsicher.

Andityas Soares de Moura Costa Matos, kann man das kürzen, soll man das, wenn es schon rekursiv Letter ist, Letter dank und durch Letter? Ein Haufen Letter mit Fragen zum decorum. Dazu forscht er, dazu wird er präsentieren und dazu werden wir diskutieren, am historischen Material, das wiederum mit dem Namen Andreas Alciatus verbunden wird (einem seit den Publikationen von Goodrich und Legendre legendären Namen, weil dem Alciatus von Goodrich und Legendre und deren Folgern noch ein Satz als Autor zugeschrieben wird (Quid est pictura? Veritas falsa!), von dem nicht einmal sicher ist, ob Alciatus diesen Satz jemals abgeschrieben hat; sein Urheber ist er auch keinen Fall, denn der Satz stammt aus römischen Akten, von den Zetteln, die unter dem Kapitel notitia dignitatum unbeständig gesammelt und ausgetauscht wurden.

Andityas Soares de Moura Costa Matos wird uns über Alchemie berichten, von etwas, in dem die Austauschbarkeit, die Verwechselbarkeit keine Sünde und kein Verbrechen sein muss. Wir sind gespannt, vor allem aber mindestens so geladen wie er. Si in ius vocat ito.

Rating Brazilian characters in foreign media (updated)

Jenny Kord (Blue Beetle)

Where do I start? Bruna Marquezine on her first Hollywood movie, playing a wonderful, brilliant important character in a DC movie. 10/10. I loved every second of Blue Beetle, I don’t care what anyone says, Jenny owns me. She spoke 3 words total in Portuguese and I was ready to give up my firstborn for her.

Iván Carvalho (Elite)

The whole “I’m in love with this guy who’s fucking my dad while I’m fucking his sister” thing? That could be the plot of a Brazilian soap opera any day, so 8/10 just for the pure chaos of that. I know it’s messy af, but it’s refreshing to see Brazilians that are not trafficking drugs or being thugs, so I’ll gladly welcome the chaos.

Also, I love how the show included the conversations in Portuguese between him and his dad. It makes no sense for two characters who are fluent in a language not to speak it with each other when they are alone or emotional, especially if they’re family.

Emilia Alo

I have been obsessed with Gigi for years now and she’s very talented, so I of course love Emilia. It’s great to hear her saying Portuguese words during her dialogues and singing Brazilian songs. I do wish the show gave her more screen time though, so I’m giving this a 8/10

Also, it’s amazing to see a Brazilian character that’s bisexual and an artist in a mainstream Netflix show!

Marlon Sousa (Surviving Summer)

I know nobody watches this show but it was a really good surprise, similar to Ivan’s case, it has dialogues in Portuguese between Marlon and his mom, which is always great to see! It even has a scene where the character briefly talks about how hard it was to adapt to a new country and language and how important surf was to him in that process, overall 8/10

Roberto da Costa/Sunspot (The new mutants)

Burn it. Burn the whole thing down. Shamelessly white washing one of the few Brazilian superheroes (are we even surprised though, coming from Marvel?) was ridiculous. What the hell were they thinking, -100000/10

Vanessa (Taxi)

Look, is this movie good, objectively speaking? No.

Was this character a robber and a criminal - very stereotypically so? Yes.

Was Gisele Bündchen drop dead gorgeous in this and my gay awakening? Also yes.

So I’ll give her 7/10 for this sole reason

Paolo Montes (Trials of Apollo)

Look he is a very minor character with barely any lines and quite stereotypical features. That being said, he’s quite Brazilian in his refusal to say things in English, just speaking Portuguese nonstop and leaving the gringos to figure it out, which I love. Also the Brazilian kid having the worst luck and being Hebe’s son is quite funny. So I’ll give him 7/10

Eduardo Saverin (The social network)

Okay. I get it. Andrew is great, the whole “smacking a keyboard down” scene is amazing. It’s a 2010 movie, made before representation was a hot topic.

All that being said, the character is based in a real person. Kid’s name is Eduardo. He was born in Brazil, even though he was raised in the states.

Rubs me the wrong way he’s not played by a actor with a similar background. However, Eduardo, just like Andrew, is of Jewish descent through his immigrant grandparents, which is very accurate. Win some, lose some, I guess. Give it a 5/10 I suppose?

Honorable mention:

Rio

It’s a movie about blue macaws (Araras azuis in Portuguese), not a character in itself, so no ratings.

Even though it’s an USA-made movie, Rodrigo Santoro (all of our mothers’ crushes and a famous Brazilian actor) plays the main human character and the director is Brazilian. The songs are great, but English simply doesn’t do this movie justice.

This film in Portuguese marked my childhood, which is a testament to how great Brazilian dubbing is. Please listen to Hot Wings (Brazilian version).

Note: I know there were a few Brazilians in Shameless, never watched the shows but know they were drug dealers - which, yeah, not fun. I did see some scenes where Portuguese was being spoken though and it was quite funny.

Norman Nato Sets Pace in Second Practice for Diriyah E-Prix

day 1 of 30 - first meeting

04.07.2006 - the first (known) meeting of Rakitić and Modrić in the match between FC Basel and Dinamo Zagreb.

The scoreline of the friendly match ended up being a draw 2-2, with Vugrinec and Da Silva scoring in the first half and (comedically) with Petrić and Rakitić scoring in the second half to even the game.

Both Petrić and Rakitić started their international careers in the Switzerland team, with the first joining Croatia in 2002 and the latter in 2007. Though it hasn’t been said, I like to think Raketa’s decision to join the vatreni was partially influenced by this match :-)

An overview of the match, according to this FCB forum: After the match, the 18-year-old Rakitic was enrounded by Croatian supporters and journalists. On one hand, because the Croatian-Swiss double citizen was the man of the match with a goal and an assist. On the other hand, because the Croatian NT leaders compete for the services of the midfielder. "But I won't let myself be pushed," said the Swiss U19 national player Rakitic. Because the joy of his first goal for the FCB prevailed with him. "First, I want to assert myself at the FCB."

Assert himself he did, receiving the Swiss Goal of the Year award for his goal against St. Gallen three months after this meeting. Before joining Schalke in 2007, he had already scored 20 goals in his proffesional career, but more on that on another time.
