why did i just see a noahpinion tweet with 30k likes try to claim the chinese social credit system was a thing. i thought we were done with this
All in favor of pointing and laughing at Noah (☝️🤣) but tbh not a fan of how "social credit isn't a thing at all" has become the standard talking point among anglo pro-china people bc. It is a thing. The reason these takes are ridiculous is bc they're acting like it's targeted towards individuals & some black mirror individual scoring system shit that controls the lives of individuals, when in reality it 1) does actually exist 2) is primarily targeted towards businesses (hence why "man on the street" interviews with people tend to show normal ppl in China don't really know about it) & 3) is actually cool and good

Something that occurred to me while documenting Miner Lanterns was the possibility that their lanterns are acting as a rudimentary sacred seal of sorts. There's no auxiliary fuel source for their flame surge to be generated from, they simply aggravate the flame inside and point it in a direction--the difference between this motion and the movements needed for casting whirl, O flame, being negligible imo. It reminds me of the steel-wire torch in a way, since there's no indication that the tarnished or enemy soldiers are pouching a cheekful of petrol prior to the attack (as opposed to perfumer mists, where they have an animation implying such) Am I saying the steel-wire is also, a sacred seal? 😏maybe No.
This is in contrast to things like the visage shield and one-eye shield, where a vague fuel mechanism is mounted on the back hardware for their respective skills. The argument I consider for Miner lantern seals is mostly based on their sorcery capabilities. Why wouldn't there be a faith schooling within the mines alongside a magic schooling.

A fully intact male walked into a shower with girls and then exposed himself. But that never happens.
The Department of Education (DOE) has opened an investigation into an incident at a Wisconsin school involving a transgender woman student in a locker room with female students.
The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, a conservative law firm, announced this week that it received a letter from the DOE saying that the department's Office of Civil Rights (OCR) was opening an investigation into a complaint it filed earlier this year involving a transgender student who undressed in front of female students in the Sun Prairie Area School District (SPASD). Newsweek reached out to the DOE via email for comment.
"Following the school's failure to sufficiently address the incident, disregard for parents' concerns, and their stonewalling of an open records request, WILL worked alongside parents of the school district to seek an investigation and remedies from the Department of Education under the Biden Administration," the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty [WILL] said in a press release on Thursday. "The federal government notified WILL that in response to our complaint they are opening an investigation of SPASD."
WILL Deputy Counsel Daniel Lennington told Newsweek on Thursday: "This opening of a formal civil rights investigation is tremendously significant, not only for this case, but as a warning to other schools nationwide that embrace new and untested transgender policies without considering the impact on female students."
According to the WILL, in June, it filed a complaint with the DOE after learning that an 18-year-old transgender woman student undressed in front of four female high school students in a locker room.
"As the girls began to shower, the male student approached them, entered the shower area, announced 'I'm trans, by the way,' and then fully undressed and showered next to the girls," the complaint said. "He was initially turned towards the wall but turned and fully exposed his body to the four girls. He had not transitioned medically and had the physiological appearance of an adult male. Understandably, the girls closed their eyes and tried to hurry up and leave the showers."
Conservatives have continued to slam the LGBTQ+ and transgender community this year after Bud Light partnered with transgender influencer and activist Dylan Mulvaney, with many calling for boycotts and an end to the inclusion of transgender women in female sports.
Many Democrats have shown support for the transgender community, with President Joe Biden recently calling for an end to discrimination against trans individuals and saying: "My Administration ended the ban on transgender Americans serving our country and I signed historic executive action to strengthen civil rights protections for all LGBTQI+ Americans."
In the complaint to the DOE, WILL said that the locker room incident is a violation of Title IX law involving the prohibition of discrimination based on sex.
"Under this law, sex discrimination encompasses sexual harassment, which includes unwelcome conduct so severe that it effectively denies a person equal access to the education program, like the incident that occurred at SPASD," it said.
"WILL claims in this complaint that SPASD discriminated against four freshman girls on the basis of sex. Not only did the district fail to comply with requirements under Title IX, but its policies fail to protect all female students in the district."
The law firm said it previously listened to complaints from parents following the incident, and that the female students initially informed an assistant principal, who was required to notify the Title IX coordinator but failed to do so.
"Over a month after the incident, a principal emailed our client and apologized 'for the incident that occurred' and attached a copy of a 'Restroom and Locker Room Accessibility Guidance' document [Ex. A], which by all accounts was never adopted by the school board," the complaint said. "No one at SPASD contacted the girls to offer supportive measures or an opportunity to file a formal complaint of sexual harassment until after WILL became involved."
A spokesperson for the school district confirmed to WMSN-TV in Wisconsin receipt of the letter from the DOE but didn't comment further.
The letter announcing the investigation by the DOE said the department will remain "neutral," and "will collect and analyze the evidence it needs in order to make a decision."
"We applaud the Department of Education Office of Civil Rights for investigating the allegations made in our complaint, but we all need to wait and see if they take this as seriously as they should," WILL Associate Counsel Cory Brewer said. "We hope this results in answers for parents and families at the Sun Prairie Area School District, but we won't know until we see the results of the investigation."

If you’re ever being taught something that you already know, or seems blatantly obvious to you. Write it down anyway
Because one day (whether in an assignment, work, conversation or just life ) you’ll will have to explain this concept, and you’ll struggle to concisely explain it
Write it down goddammit, write everything down

The thing about pro-psych people (there has to be a better term for this lmao) is that they’re always like ‘I’m sorry you/a loved one had a bad experience but there ARE good experiences out there my doctor changed my life etc etc’ when really it’s the polar opposite, i.e, i will always be genuinely happy for anyone who had a good experience, but know that it was a fluke because psychiatric care is broken on a base level and is in desperate need of an institutional overhaul

The infamous... "They"
The most obvious sign of someone that has not been down a single rabbit hole, is when they ask you ‘Who are ‘they’?’ The answer can only be: ‘How long do you have?’
The truth is, that in most instances, the answer is simply too long, too complex and probably too ‘incomplete’, to properly address the matter. How far back or deep should one go?
I’ve been able to distill the concept of ‘They’ to: ‘Satan’s Ambassadors on Earth’, but depending on the audience, I usually sum it up as ‘Those who rule the world, the cabal, deep state, illuminati, government, the rich and elite, the world economic forum, the UN, and as George Carlin put it the BIG club.'
‘They’ is not only made up of the pinnacle of the pyramid, it’s also their executive branches, their puppet leaders and all the useful idiots that knowingly or unknowingly help to further their agenda of absolute control and enslavement of humanity.
At the beginning of this journey, when you first realize the depth of the deception and the satanic nature of their plans and means, you are overcome with an overwhelming need for justice and revenge.
You pray that one day there will be divine justice, for the only punishment that would fit the crime would be to rot in hell for eternity.
I still pray that it will be so, and I will continue to work to raise awareness to the manipulation and the crimes, but as you keep evolving along this path towards truth, you realize that our mission is not to kill the ‘beast’, but simply to stop feeding it.
Our mission is to unplug, to disconnect, to disengage from the ‘system’, from the matrix, until the ‘beast’ implodes from within.
Counterintuitively, our only ‘attack’ strategy, is to withdraw. Withdraw our focus, withdraw our consent, withdraw our cooperation, withdraw our compliance and most of all, we must withdraw the energy it feeds from: our belief and fear.
Their power is an illusion fed by our own ignorant belief that they have it, but the most important truth you will uncover along this journey, is that WE hold the power, we always have, we just didn’t know it. But now we do.
The ‘They’ are doomed the day more of us finally understand what 'They' are doing.

Ohhhoh the funny part
Imagine how this is all gonna go in the Cybertronian history books? Because holy shit yeah if the fact that the two generals dated before the war wasn't already in them, then wow is it going to be now. Officially speaking, the Great Cybertronian war was ended because the leader of the autobots incidentally had a child with the leader of the Decepticons. In human history, often the emotions are lost to the sands of time. But we do remember some of the funniest shit, like the Bone Wars or Andrew Jackson's swearing parrot.

Clients Are Demanding More Web Design Freedom
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/clients-are-demanding-more-web-design-freedom/
Clients Are Demanding More Web Design Freedom
Web designers love to client-proof their creations. It’s all about preventing a rogue client from mucking up a layout or feature. After all, everyone’s happy when things look good.
The practice keeps those technical support requests to a minimum. Or at least it did.
These days, it seems like clients are eager to experiment with design. The more we lock down features, the more frustrated they get. It’s been a growing trend in my freelance business.
I often receive design queries from clients. They want to know how to create specific layouts. Or how to embed video or other third-party content.
It marks a change from how things used to be. So, why are clients suddenly interested in doing it themselves? I have a few theories! I also have thoughts on what we can do to meet this need.
There’s a Higher Standard for Web Design
Today’s clients are avid web consumers. Some have grown up alongside the internet. Therefore, they possess a different set of sensibilities.
The web used to be a novelty. The clients I served 10+ years ago weren’t as attuned to user experience (UX). If anything, they asked for features that went against the grain in this area.
Sure, I still get requests for such features. But they have decreased significantly.
I more often hear from people who want to replicate a specific look. They want a page layout similar to a big brand or competitor.
True, they may want these results on a much smaller budget. But they have an idea of how a website should look and work. And it’s miles away from the clunky designs of yesteryear.
Clients are surrounded by better design. And they want the same for themselves.
No-Code Tools Are Promising a Better Experience
We’ve witnessed an influx of browser-based design tools in recent years. Proprietary systems like Wix market themselves as do-it-all solutions. Even open-source apps like WordPress have gotten into the game with its Site and Block Editors.
The message is that anyone can build a website. Sure, the reality may be blurred (and there’s no mention of quality). But these tools have raised the bar of expectation.
For some website owners, having a site is no longer enough. They also want to create content and personalize the look. Empowered clients, yay!
However, this is a less-than-ideal situation for web designers. We want our clients to accomplish great things with their sites. But there’s a price to all of this newfound freedom.
These tools make building a custom layout easier. But things can get out of hand rather quickly.
I’ve seen this with the WordPress Block Editor. There’s a lot to love about it. However, it doesn’t guarantee success. Those unfamiliar with design can paint themselves into a corner.
For example, building layouts that are hard to maintain. Or accidentally dragging a block into the wrong space. All good for our job security. Not so much for our mental health.
Yes, anyone can build with a no-code tool. But it still takes careful thought and foresight to do it well. That’s why locking things down is still so attractive.
What Should Web Designers Do?
We want to keep our clients happy. Plus, there’s only so much lecturing we can do. So, how can we provide the flexibility clients want while also safeguarding their site?
There are a few ideas that come to mind:
Build with Flexibility in Mind
I’m a very purpose-driven designer. I like to build features that match a client’s stated needs. But sometimes, that leads to inflexibility.
A client will attempt to use a feature in a way that I didn’t intend. The result is often a frustration for both parties.
The lesson here is to build with flexibility in mind. Consider other ways a client may use a feature. Then, provide options for making it work.
Custom WordPress blocks are a good example. Instead of creating a block with a singular layout option, go the extra mile. Add column and row layouts. Allow for different types of content to be input.
These little steps can mitigate issues down the road. Clients won’t have to think outside the box – they’ll already have everything they need.
Invest in Client Education
Design tools are more powerful than ever. That’s a good thing. However, a well-intentioned client could use them to cause havoc.
When people know better, they do better. Thus, education can be just as powerful.
Sit down with clients and teach them the basics. Provide documentation that spells out best practices and things to avoid.
Granted, not everyone has time to do this. In that case, you might employ a third-party resource to help. Curate a list of videos and tutorials to put clients on the right path.
Again, prevention is the best medicine here.
Lock Down What You Can
None of this means we should stop locking things down. A client-proof website is still a noble goal. We might have to be more selective, though.
Tools like the WordPress Block Editor include a locking feature. You can use it to prevent those unintended consequences. Adding block patterns could also satisfy the need to create custom layouts.
You might also seek to limit user permissions. If there’s an area that a client should never touch – don’t give them easy access.
Think about the site’s most mission-critical aspects and act accordingly.
Web Designers Need to Meet Clients Where They Are
Today’s web design clients want to do more with their sites. Sure, they want us to build them something beautiful and functional. But they also want the ability to do it themselves.
There’s no going back on this. The cat’s already out of the bag. Thus, we need to adjust to match these expectations.
We can achieve this through a bit of foresight. Anticipate how clients will interact with their website. Build features that can withstand whatever they throw at it.
We’ll still make mistakes. Plus, some clients will be prone to mishaps. However, these experiences are learning opportunities. Take them and keep evolving. After all, our clients aren’t slowing down.
