TK smiles at his reflection in the mirror as he buttons up his work shirt for the day. He scrapes a nail over a mark Carlos left just below his collarbone, letting out a breath at the sensation, then presses harder as he remembers the feeling of Carlos’ lips all over his body.

God, he misses him. It’s been a grand total of two days, less than, since he’s seen Carlos, but he misses him, misses the way he makes him feel, misses the soft way Carlos kisses him with everything he’s got. He just misses being around him, really, but within the next thirty minutes, they’ll be together again.

TK can’t wait.

For now, he finishes buttoning up his shirt, somewhat disappointed that he had to cover his new mark—which is a turnout, really; he’s been grateful to be covering his scar for so long, but now Carlos has kissed over the skin there, he finds he doesn’t want to as much—and grabs his tie from where it’s hanging on the doorknob.

A few minutes later, he’s padding out of his room, far earlier than he would normally on a Monday morning, even since Carlos, and heads downstairs.

The inescapable clutches of Death had already wrung themselves around Dr. Amoretto's very life; but that didn't make him any more comfortable with the concept. The mausoleum of his chest housed phantoms still grasping at outdated tradition, religion, and belief; and even though the good doctor had since left the shackles of the title of Catholicism in the dust behind him, it wasn't merely the artificial temperature that chilled him when he stepped into the morgue. By nature, he hated that place and what it housed.

The silence sent a sharp shiver down his spine. Goosebumps rose on his skin, refusing to warm up and go away. He didn't feel right...

No, no, it was simply just his general unease with the location itself. It was going to be fine...

—So why wasn't anyone down here? No medical examiners, no pathologists, no autopsy technicians, no maintenance or custodians. Not a soul to be seen. He bit his lip pensively as he peeped around, looking for anyone who could have helped him. "Hello?" he called out meekly. "Dr. Amoretto here, f-from pediatrics. D-Dr. Louro left his p-p-pager down here, and I was just...c-coming to fetch it..." It had been a simple errand, as Leo had finished a long day of hospital rounds (he'd always preferred clinic work, but this was his duty too). Still clad in his usual long-sleeve button-down, tie, and suspenders that he wore under his esteemed white coat, his colleague had tagged him for the quick errand. Leo wasn't fond of poking around the morgue, but here he was—so why wasn't anyone else here that was supposed to be? There was always somebody around, right?

A metallic sound just out of sight stopped Leo's breath in his throat. He froze in place, not even letting his lungs inflate with oxygen. "Hello?" he called out again. "This is. D...D...Dr. Leonardo Amoretto, p-pediatrics, my colleague f-forgot something down here, a-and I wanted to see if...if you'd seen it..." He crept closer in the direction of the sound. This is ridiculous, nothing is going to be haunting the morgue, ghosts aren't real...right? Cautiously he began rounding a corner, hoping he wouldn't look too foolish if it ended up just being a living, breathing human making the noise. "I d-don't mean to...to intrude, I'll..." His voice got stuck in his throat. "I'll be qu—quick and get out of your way..."
