A few days had passed since their arrival. The head of the research department was keeping close surveillance on both of them, mostly on Lios, but he still hadn’t gotten their official interviews to take place. It was almost as if they were being purposefully kept locked up as its own form of observation, to see whether or which of them would crack first. So far, neither of them were playing into their trap, especially not Shiro who was the more diplomatic of the two. He used his numbered days in confinement as a way to get closer to the twins, and so far, he had gotten used to the positive feelings and affection that he was receiving, so much so that he was starting to abandon his thoughts of leaving.
Other than that, the building had been relatively quiet, and so had the people living and working in it. Some lights going out in the containment sector, the elevator malfunctioning, strange shadows lurking beneath the panopticon and clinging to the ceiling of the training grounds when nobody bothered to look up - those were only some of the incidents that could have been written off as coincidence, but they had been constantly happening ever since Shiro popped up.
That was the calm before the storm.
In the middle of the night, while the guards and agents were changing their share of shifts, those shadows congregated on the upper corridor leading from the elevator towards the panopticon’s watchtower. The camera feed would show a visual glitch where something akin to a person started to manifest out of the shroud of darkness as if they were clawing their way out of a tar pit. Over the span of a few long seconds, the figure that emerged became clearer. Aware of the gazes cornering him from all sides, he turned his head towards one of the cameras at an unnatural, painful angle while the feed on the guard’s monitors shivered and hissed. The one staring at them with a corpse-like blankness in his eyes was the same one that they had on another feed, still in his cell.
Without waiting another moment until something else happened, they remotely sounded off the caution alarms in the other sectors. The color of the lights changed to a yellowish hue, signaling caution. That was one step below the utmost priority, but it could have escalated at any time. The few guards that still remained in the sector past their work time started to regret it, fumbling with their headsets until they reached the proper channels. They had to make a quick and rash decision: to lock that thing outside, making it everyone else’s problem, or to lock it inside, with them.
“We are shutting down the entrance,” one of them said over the headset just as the heavy sliding door of the containment sector fell shut in front of the other Shiro’s face. They didn’t want to risk more breaches, not knowing what could happen under the circumstances. Their Shiro was still in his hamster cage, looking confused by the commotion.
“How did it get past the elevator without anyone seeing it?” More indecipherable chatter could be heard in the background, a chaotic bustle of disoriented people who were trying to come up with the best solution while severely underprepare for a breach-type situation.
“Shut down the elevator too!” another voice called out.
Whatever solutions they were coming up with on the spot all seemed to only further narrow their own options. In the meantime, unaffected by the obstacle in front of his eyes, the intruder banged on the door, making it echo throughout the acoustic hallway. When he realized that it wouldn’t open back up, he started looking for another way around and spotted the elevator at the opposite end of the corridor.

One early morning, a new face showed up around the containment sector. He was dressed in a pine-colored jumpsuit, sporting its sleeves rolled up unevenly. His chin-length pastel hair was unkempt, his long bangs hiding a friendly doe-eyed face. As he walked along the connecting ramps, he was pushing along a cart of cleaning supplies that he took with him inside of some of the lower containment cells where the inanimate objects were located. Each time he needed to go up a level, he used the platform interconnecting them that seemed to have been put in place purely for maintenance work; it resembled a window-washing lift and was about just as fickle as one too. Looking past the barrier only reminded him that it was the only thing keeping him from falling into the abyss below.
“They can’t pay me enough,” he grumbled to himself as he gathered up a clean washcloth and his to-do list from his cart. His next stop? The mezzanine. He breathed out a sigh of relief when he stepped onto solid ground, but that’s about when the relief ended because he didn’t have to walk too far until he reached his destination. “L2-12... Did I pass it by?” he wondered, glancing up from his clipboard in search of the correct number painted on the wall.

"Have you two resolved the pancake issues from awhile ago?" - Scp Faron [Gfds shady dude spawns out of nowhere fang needs some botherations]
“Pancake issue... Urgh. You mean... Liam’s brother, that guy.”
Tumblr media
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. That, or another chunk of his memories got devoured in his sleep. Possibly the latter. Whatever it was, it didn’t bode well for Faron, whose name he had already forgotten.
“Who... are you, again?”

The previous night he went to bed early in preparation for the next day, but he didn’t get much sleep. He was distraught over making such a spur-of-the-moment decision when he agreed to go on a blind date with someone he had just met. If anything would come off it, he didn’t know, but he wasn’t taking it very seriously despite having arrived at the place a few minutes earlier than what they had agreed on. When he thought about the alternative - reminiscing over his heartbreak from not long ago - he wanted to go through with this fated meeting.
Tumblr media
“Hello,” he said, waving subtly at Faron to catch his attention. Woochi was well dressed but not overdressed for the occasion: a loosely buttoned white cardigan over a black turtleneck, black slacks, and a pair of black penny loafers. He wore his hair the same he always had, draped over his shoulder - the “motherly side plait”. Behind that smile and his casual attire, he was hiding plenty of secrets, though. “It’s nice to finally meet you in person.”   /   @eeriestatic

The following noon after their departure, the screen of Lex’s phone lit up with a message from an unknown number. When tapped, the notification opened to a photo of Maestro winking at the camera and holding a white coated, black-eyed ferret next to his face.
Tumblr media
„Ciao, caro~☆*。☆” read the message underneath it. „Shouldn’t you be at work? What are you doing on your phone?”   /   @eeriestatic

For the longest time, he thought the map was wrong. Then it turned out that he had been holding it upside down. In any case, it became obvious that he was in the right place, definitely at the wrong time. A few centuries overdue, if he had to guess. Was that ash covering the ground or was it finely ground human bones? Whatever it was, it was sticking to his boots and he was inhaling it. It couldn’t have been healthy, but he was too exhausted to care anymore. Honestly, he could have collapsed in a heap where he stood if he wasn’t so stubborn to reach what he thought to be an underground lair full of treasure.
Tumblr media
“Well, boys,” he said, though he was only talking to himself. “Nowhere to go from here but forwards...”
Maybe he wasn’t as alone as he thought. Although the place looked deserted, out of the corner of his eye, he could see tall silhouettes pacing behind the large trees that surrounded the area. He, of course, refused to acknowledge them for his own sanity. With a hand on his pocket-sized grimoire and the other on the hilt of his dagger, he ventured inside the entrance to the cave. On his way in, he tripped over something that he could swear was the skeleton of a human leg, but he pretended it was a tree-branch.   /   @eeriestatic

She was curious, but not curious enough to stare at him while the uncanny transformation happened. All that she’d thrown him in passing was that joke, but her head was turned away from him. The sounds were off-putting enough and, despite her ragged appearance, she wasn’t keen on the gory aspects of the process. If she could have been anywhere but there while it happened, she would have gladly taken off. But the entire facility reeked of blood and other less pleasant odors, so no matter where she wandered it would have all been the same in the end.
❝Gross.❞, she scoffed when she heard the crunching on marrow even though she was trying to drown it out. When he was finally done with his little feast and decided it was high time to stop throwing up blood, she glanced towards him through the corner of her eye and presented him with a most disapproving expression. The same kind of displeasure only Shiro would be able to convey through glance alone.
Tumblr media
❝At least I don’t need to eat flesh, but what do I know? Wipe your mouth before you speak, filthy.❞, she sighed while rolling her eyes and then shook her head as if dismissing that lackluster reaction altogether.
When offered the photograph, she retrieved it and stored it in the hidden pocket of her dress where it once was and patted the material back into place.
❝Yes, yes. I’ll keep being your errand boy. I’ve got nothing better to do anyway.❞, she waved him off, seemingly disinterested in the more human-like appearance, even though she was trying to steal a glimpse in his direction.

Whilst he wasn’t allowed to go anywhere alone, at least he wasn’t confined to a cell like the other D-Classes. Whether or not the staff treated him as such, though, it didn’t matter. He was walking arm-in-arm with the most perfect tour guide around. Little did the agent know though that Woochi was the one steering them towards his desired location, as compelled by the faint trace of a dimensional trail a certain entity was emitting.
Tumblr media
❝So much scrap...❞, he complained as gloved fingertips trailed across the metallic railing of the catwalk. He abruptly stopped walking when a something or someone beneath their feet piqued his interest. ❝Hm? Doesn’t it feel like we’re being watched?❞, he chuckled, twirling the ends of his hair on his index finger. He didn’t mean the security cameras - those were a no-brainer.   /   @eeriestatic

@eeriestatic asked: "So, when are you going to join my squad?" - Containment Faron [he's tryna steal him from the twins squad fsjf]
At first he looked around with a skeptical expression, assuring himself that he wasn’t being made fun of. He cocked a brow at Faron’s offer and crossed his arms in front of his chest, assuming a position of authority.
Tumblr media
“That depends on how good your health care package is,” he retorted with a straight face. “Whyever would you need a genius alchemist skilled in arcane arts and animating anthropomorphic objects in your... guys-with-assault rifles squad? Do you need a human shield? I’m pretty good at martyring myself. Too bad I’m under what one would call a,” pause for effect accompanied by air quotes. “house arrest right now.”
He said all of that in one breath.

It was true. He did retreat in the furthest corner away from Nick, because he was still under the impression that if he even breathed wrong around him, he’d find fault with his demeanor and judge him harshly. The goody-two-shoes, smart, dutiful and studious types were those he often clashed with, as much as he wanted to coexist with them. So, by appearing smaller than he was and hugging the wall, he hoped to be left alone, lest he said something out of place and it landed his ass in an even worse position than a disposable class. An E class. Sadly, those thoughts were the result of his own misconstructions and assumptions.
Tumblr media
As he stood there with his arms behind his back in a militaristic fashion, he jumped when the low voice began addressing him. At least, the subtle mention of Markus made his sullen eyes widen with interest and even a tiny smile broke through his stern expression. He took his question to be a rhetorical one - after all, he hadn’t seen another magenta-haired agent running around, he knew his place in Mark’s books.
Instead of a direct reply, one of his hands came up to scribble a few invisible letters in mid-air. S, Y, followed by an O.
❝That’s how it’s written, but it's pronounced as Sh-Oh.❞, he explained respectfully. Naturally, since he was being directly addressed, he wouldn’t ignore the twin. Even a hoodrat like he had manners.
❝...Yer brother says a lotta nice things about ya, Nick.❞, he murmured, but his gaze was lowly averted towards a corner, as aloof as he could be to avoid appearing arrogant or pretentious, since he had the talent of rubbing people the wrong way on a regular basis. ❝Whenever I bump into ya, though, yer always nose-deep in them papers or chain-drinking mugs of coffee. We ain’t get to talk like dudes.❞ - @eeriestatic

"Do you ever just roll your boyfriend up in the scarf? Like a burrito, long ways?" - Scp jojo [liam got a sweater scarf in noodle]
“...No. Do you?”
Tumblr media
As unintentionally dry as that comment was, he added something else not long after.
“I don’t manhandle him like that. Besides, he’s already in that scarf for the majority of the time. Made a nest out of it and everything. Wait. Do snakes even nest?”

In silence, he had been watching him for a while, debating whether he should intervene or not. At first, he thought he'd bump into him, apologize, then offer his help to make up for it, thus making it his business. But when Lex almost toppled over, that plan went out the window. And now, he had no excuses for trying to get his attention.
„Ciao,” the man dressed in white greeted him with a charming smile and a wave. From the inner breastpocket of his loosely hanging coat, he produced a lavender hued handkerchief that smelled vaguely of thyme. He pinched it between his index and middle fingers and held it in front of Lex, encouraging him to take it with a persuasive lean that left no hope for a personal bubble. Though before Lex knew it, the figure that looked to be dressed for a special occasion was kneeling in front of him, his immaculate pants hovering a sliver above the sidewalk. The same couldn't be said about his coat that pooled up in a pile by his feet. And yet, he didn't seem to care about dirtying himself. As alien as he might have seemed, his actions were even more odd when he reached out to gingerly frame Lex's ankle between his slender fingers. His touch was so careful and light, it was barely there.
Tumblr media
„It's merely sprained, but it must feel worse than it looks,” he murmured, lifting his lavender gaze to meet his puffy eyes. „Even so, I advise against walking on it.” And although he could have done something about it in a split second, he didn't know what kind of person Lex was and what sort of reaction he would have to someone literally taking his pain away with the touch of a hand. Maestro let out a conflicted puff of breath and reluctantly pulled his hands away for the time being. „Unless... You have no choice but to walk?”   /   @eeriestatic

“Why are ya wanderin’ about all suspicious like?” he piped up from behind Knox, side-stepping by his side. With his arms hidden behind his back, he tilted his head and leaned into view, trying to get a better look at the serpent.
However, the atmosphere spiraled into coldness as soon as he caught his glance. Knox might not have known it yet, but he was in danger.
